Normally I like the music that plays on the radio, but this year I'm having a hard time finding songs that I like. There's only really a small handful that I enjoy. I don't really like the rest of the songs that have become popular this year. I don't know why. I just can't really get into any of it for some reason. Does anyone else feel the same way?

It's been great for the music I like.
But for top 40 Amerocan pop music on the radio, it's been kinda bad.
Twenty one pilots doesn't count.

I feel you. Few things have really done it for me. I guess the sound that's kinda trending just makes me feel icky and not interested. 2013 was where it was at for me. It was the year dominated by the Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, Fall Out Boy, Of Monsters and Men, Neon Trees, Fall Out Boy, and more of my rubbish musical tastes. Lots of banjo and "hey!" punctuated by the occasional "I'M ON FYAAAAAA!"

I guess there really hasn't been a Big Song this year has there? I don't listen to the radio much but like the way Hello and Uptown Funk were popular...that hasn't happened this year has it
if it has then I haven't heard the song (or it died quickly enough that I forgot it) which is entirely possible given that I'm a little removed from the whole music thing (I'll listen to current music if it happens to be on, but I don't seek it out, so it's really up to chance)

I'm not sure though. I haven't really paid much attention to the songs this year because I don't like most of them.

Other than Carly Rae God, Beyonce, Frank Ocean, Blood Orange, Mitski, ANOHNI, Miranda Lambert, and PJ Harvey, there hasn't been that much standouts this year. Oh, top 40 also went downhill. The success of Twenty One Pilots really lowers the quality of this year. On the positive side, I've noticed a serious decline of white-guy-with-guitars like Lumineers, Owl City, etc. other than Sh*wn M*ndes
2015 was kind of super iconic, though. Carly Rae God (again), Susanne Sundfør, Grimes, Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, Joanna Newsom, Natalie Prass, Priest, Sufjan Stevens? Whew. How spoiled we were last year.

My music taste is all over the place, tbh. I'll listen to just about anything from modern top 40 to select 80s songs to 30s big band and even 20s rag. As long as it's clean and has a good melody I like it.
Unfortunately, most of this year's songs have a really boring, repeating melody and almost no dynamics or variation. Honestly, it's hard for me to tell some songs apart now. I'm not saying all pop music is bad, but the majority is pretty bland.

I don't listen to American music so it's actually been a pretty decent music year for me But I mean, I usually hear about a few big American hits a year and nothing's really come up yet so :/

They have lots of other music too. (also I love heathens more than stressed out or ride fight me nerds)

The music this year has been mostly awful. Except for Death of a Bachelor and Green Day's album Revolution Radio which is steadily coming out. That's the only two things I liked from this year.
And no, I'm not going to talk about MCRX.

There's been some really godawful stuff this year
Bastille, Panic! At The Disco and Green Day have saved me. The comeback of 30 Seconds to Mars will be saving me next year.
Edit: I forgot OneRepublic had released some good things so far this year

Hm. Well there's a lot of bad music. But there hasn't been any songs that I'll look back and think, "Wow that REAKS of 2016." The last song that was like that for me was Call Me Maybe which is so aggressively 2012 it's insane.
I've liked some of Fall Out Boy's work this year, especially Uma Thurman. I've also enjoyed Just Like Fire by Pink and Can't Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake.
But hey at least we don't have another Blurred Lines or Cheerleader. I can't stand those songs.

you used to call me on my cell phone
I'd definitely agree everything sucks this year tbh And I hate twenty one pilots' new popularity tbh especially bc the ones that became popular were the two songs that I like the least by them
it just doesn't the fanbase for them is p bad now tbh "i love when they sing about my self diagnosed depression I'm 3dgy for liking them lol"
and the pop songs are all just ew my entire family literally had to switch radio stations bc of it and now I'm listening to 80s whenever I'm in the car ; )
but I mean I've never really cared for new music so it doesn't affect me too much
