Grey couldn’t help but chuff in amusement at the other man’s comment. He raised an eyebrow lazily and looked at the wolf he had been conversing with for the past little bit. ”Oh yes, this place welcomes any and all misfits. Even somebody like you would be allowed to work here if you decide to stick around and need the extra money.” For the most part there wasn’t anything Grey would complain about when it came to working for Scarlet. Though there was that one habit of hers...but Grey wasn’t about to bring that up. He never brought it up, and he was honestly a bit scared of what might happen to him if he did.
Pushing those thoughts away, Grey then realized he was missing some important information about this man. ”I still haven’t gotten your name, apologizes for not doing introductions earlier. You can call me Grey, and what about you?” He was curious to learn what the other man’s name was. Grey was sure it would be important to know that at this point.

Raoul Heroux
The bartender refilled Raoul’s drink and as soon as he could, he grabbed hold of it again and drank from it, not stopping until the mug was empty before he put it back down, looking over towards the other man, towards... Grey. By now the alcohol was calming his nerves enough and Grey didn’t seem quite so bad. If anything he had kept the conversation going even after realizing that Raoul wasn’t going to buy what he was selling. ”...My name is Raoul, it...it means ‘advice of the wolf’,” he explained, his brow furrowing as he thought about it. Advice of the wolf, wolf council, the cunning wolf, however you wanted to go about it, all it really meant was that he had been marked for the wolf well before he had ever been bitten. Not letting himself think about it any longer, Raoul grabbed a handful of money from his pockets and left it on the counter for the drinks, standing up. ”I should go to my room,” he said quietly.

Raoul. Now that was interesting. For somebody being so dodgy about their “illness” he sure wasn’t being too keen on hiding the meaning behind his name.
Grey let out what could only be a long purr, rolling the sound at the end as he eyed Raoul with his green eyes. ”What a name you have. Tell me,” he started, not once taking his eyes off the other man as he reached forward and traced a finger delicately around the now empty cup Raoul had just finished off, ”how much advice do you have, Wolfie?” A sly smirk danced across the feline’s face as the question slipped off his tongue. Grey then pulled his hand back toward him, letting it drape off the edge of the bar he was perched upon. ”Between you and me, my name has a fun little meaning, too. Some people refer to me as Greymalkin. Means gray old female cat, but I’d rather you stick with Grey.” There wasn’t anything wrong with his full name, but it wasn’t who he was. Sure, he was a gray cat, and he supposed he could be classified as old - he had been around for some time now - but he wasn’t female, no matter what others said or believed about him.
”Leaving already, Wolfie?” Grey drawled out in a whiny sigh. ”Oh, but it’s been so much fun talking with you. Are you sure you’d rather spend your night here alone?” He asked, all the while dramatically sliding off the bar in a rather supernaturally fluid motion, landing perfectly on his feet before leaning up against the bar and eyeing Raoul with a look of amused curiosity.

Raoul Heroux
Raoul liked to think he was a patient man, a man that dealt with a lot before things got to him, however as soon as Grey called him Wolfie, something inside him snapped and before he knew what he was doing, a low and loud growl escaped from his throat and he reached out, grabbing Grey by the collar of his shirt and pushing him back against the bar. ”Don’t call me Wolfie,” he growled out, his yellow eyes flashing with a fire. For a moment he stood there, his face inches away from Grey, growing for a moment or so before finally, he sighed and stepped back, letting go of Grey’s shirt. He shouldn’t have let his anger get to him. Glancing down, Raoul called himself down. “...No, it’s best if I retire alone,” he decided quietly, stepping back a little more from Grey.

Grey was no stranger to getting pushed up against hard surfaces, and he would be lying if he said this wasn’t the first time he had been pushed against a counter out of anger. He was typically smooth, as sly as a fox even, but he wasn’t unfamiliar to getting on somebody’s last nerve.
A smart person would be cowering in fear and apologizing profusely to upsetting somebody like Raoul. An angry werewolf was something nobody wanted to deal with, but Grey was staring the canine right in the eyes with a half-lidded gaze, amusement sparking in the depths of his green eyes. ”Oho, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you were getting kinky with me. Is this your way of saying to call you something else?” He continued to look Raoul in the eyes, unwavering and unflinching. Honestly he found this spark of anger to be rather attractive, even if he wasn’t the biggest fan of dogs. Grey would let Raoul do anything he wanted to him after this show of dominance.
There was actually a flicker of disappointment in Grey’s chest when the other man finally let him go and stepped back. Oh how he already missed that intense stare and inhuman strength he had felt in the werewolf’s grip. ”I suppose I can respect that just as I can respect not wanting to be called a certain name.” Afterall, Grey knew how it felt to be called something he didn’t like. ”But if you do change your mind about company, I’ll be here any time of the night.” For as much as Grey could also respect Raoul not wanting the feline around, it wasn’t going to stop him from making sure the wolf knew he would be available at any time.

Raoul Heroux
Raoul let out another growl, tightening his grip of Grey ad he glared at him, though he’d be lying if some of it wasn’t from his face heating up, just noticing how close he was to Grey by now, plus, even in his anger he had to admit that Grey was an attractive man, even if he had spent the last while pushing Raoul’s buttons. Once he had let go of Grey, Raoul glanced over at him one more time before grumbling a little, not saying another word as he quietly slipped up to the inn. — — — A couple hours later, as Raoul tossed and turned in his bed, his head filled with visions of a large wolf with brown fur ran through the woods, deep in pursuit of a man with black hair, the man tried to run, but he wasn’t fast enough and soon the wolf caught up, the man’s face crinkled in horror and terror in his final moments before just like that, the wolf bit down. Crunch.Instantly, Raoul sat up in his bed, sweat rolling down the sides of his head as he gripped at the blankets, looking around, finally realizing that he was safe and in the inn, in the Raven’s Eye inn. Slowly, his muscles relaxed and he shot a glance out the window. It was dark, way too dark, who knew who late it was? The safe thing to do would be to go back to sleep, and yet...Raoul couldn’t do that, he couldn’t be alone right now, not after that. “I’ll be here any time of the night.” Grey’s words echoed in the back of his mind. Would he...would he still be here now? He shouldn’t...he shouldn’t expect it, and yet? Raoul had to see. Sighing, the werewolf got up to his feet and out of his bed, he didn’t bother changing out of the white, loose clothes he wore to bed and instead simply slipped back out of his room, making his way down the stairs and searching over the tavern underneath. It was dark, it was unlikely that anyone was even here anymore, everyone had probably already retired to bed.

While Grey did have his own room at the inn - and he did use it quite frequently - he had always preferred to stay out near the open tavern when he was expecting a night by himself. He enjoyed his own solitude, but even if he was a cat he found it to be more comfortable to spend the night with other people, and being in a public space meant there was more chance for somebody else to be there than in his own private room. So it was no surprise that he had stayed in the tavern area of the inn, and it was no surprise that Grey was so easily awoken by the sound of somebody approaching.
In the darkness of the room Grey was once again sprawled out on the bar, but this time instead of him being human he was lounging lazily in his puma form. It was the form he felt the most comfortable in, but when around others he made sure to stick to his human self.
At the sound of approaching footsteps the large feline made quick in shifting back, no longer a big cat on the bar but rather a long bodied, slender human with an uncanny familiarity to a feline about his features. Grey was curious as to who was up at this hour, and it wasn’t long until his question was answered and a satisfied purr of laughter escaped him.
Green eyes flashed in the darkness of the tavern as he called out, ”Did somebody get lonely? I told you I’d be here waiting.”

Raoul Heroux
As he had made his way down the stairs into the dark, empty tavern, Raoul could’ve sworn that he saw something out of that corner of his eye, something big, however before he could get a closer look, it was gone, however that didn’t mean that the tavern was empty, there he was, waiting for him: Grey. Raoul looked away, not meeting his gaze as he came down the stairs. “I didn’t think you’d actually still be here,” Raoul admitted, blinking as he looked over at him, his sharp yellow eyes looking him over, as if expecting him to randomly disappear. Walking towards the window, Raoul looked out towards the darkened sky. “...It’s quiet right now.”

”Did you not believe me when I said I’d be here?” Grey asked with that tinge of amusement still in his voice. ”I may be a lot of things, but you’ll be hard pressed to find me as a liar.” He was one to twist truths and words, but he wasn’t one to make up a complete lie. Grey had morals, even if it seemed like he didn’t.
Gracefully he got off the bar and walked over to Raoul, looking out the window himself. He was able to see through the darkness, noticing just how sad and lonely it looked out there. It always did this late. ”It’s only quiet because somebody didn’t take up my offer earlier. If it’s noise you want, that’s not hard to fix,” Grey mused as he continued to look out the window and into the night outside.

Watching out the window, Raoul shrugged slightly, resting his arms on the windowsill. ”I guess I didn’t expect you to mean it,” he admitted, not quite having the energy to get upset at him right now. It was...almost nice to know that despite it all, Grey was still here, like he said, it was probably one of the only things that Raoul didn’t realize he could count on. Pausing for a moment to look over at Grey, Raoul raised his brow, leaning to the side slightly. “How often does that work for you?” He asked in a mixture of both bemusement and annoyance. “I bet you’ll tell me you have someone new in your bed every night,” Raoul continued with a roll of his eyes as he looked back towards the window, his eyes catching sight of the moon outside. It was a half moon right now, no fear of turning yet. Still, seeing the moon, no matter what phase it was in, sent a shiver down his spine.

Grey huffed at the combination of question and comment. He gave a raised look to Raoul, his expression offended in a mocking manner that told he wasn’t exactly on the offensive. ”Are you discrediting me? More often than not it’s multiple people a night, but if only one a night makes you feel better, then I’ll let you believe that instead.” Grey stopped his words there, falling silent for a moment until he broke it. ”I tend to keep busy, I don’t often have lonely nights.” He had them more often than he liked to admit, but as of late they were becoming more and more normal to Grey. It was getting harder to find people that would stay once they learned a little bit more about him, and it wasn’t like he could keep many regulars, not with how his relationship with Scarlet worked, but he wasn’t going to complain about that. He was just lucky that somebody was letting a person like him stay around. Most innkeepers would have tossed him out on the streets by now and left him for dead. He supposed he had Scarlet to thank for a permanent place to stay, even if it could be unpleasant at times.

Raoul Heroux
Raoul let out a small snort. ”Really, multiple?” He questioned, shaking his head, maybe it was because he usually didn’t have anyone else in his bed with him at night, but he found that a little hard to believe. ”Well, I’ll take your word for it,” he added as he looked back out the window. If anything, at least he wasn’t lonely, not like Raoul. When was the last time Raoul had even talked to someone before tonight? Other than for work? It...it had been a long time. But maybe that would all change if this Bain person really could cure him. “Well for a man as popular as yourself, you seem awfully alone tonight,” Raoul commented, gesturing his head behind Grey to the empty tavern. “It’s just you and be here right now, unless you’re hiding your nightly partner under a table,” he added, taking a glance over towards the tables as if to double check that there wasn’t secretly someone there.

Pumas were meant to be solitary creatures, but Grey wasn’t. He supposed he went against a lot of things that he was supposed to be, it was just part of his nature at this point. He was a rule breaker, somebody that went against the grain and did as he pleased. It wasn’t easy being himself in this world, but he managed it and he was able to live a relatively happy life for himself. It wasn’t a perfect life, but it wasn’t something he would change.
Looking away from the window and to Raoul, Grey couldn’t help but wonder how much of the wolf’s life he wanted to change. Raoul didn’t seem like the kind of guy that would be happy with his lot in life. Not that Grey blamed him. Afterall, who would want to be stuck as a monstrous dog for the rest of their life once a month?
Even if Grey didn’t have his usual company, he was well aware that he wasn’t alone, not anymore at least. ”I have you here, don’t I?” He questioned smoothly. ”There’s no secret partner to hide. If I had somebody with me tonight they’d be here with me, and you’d be very aware of their presence.” Grey was one to make his presence known, and he had never been one to shy away from acting out and showing off whether he had somebody else with him or not. ”As I’ve said before, you can always entertain me for the night. You seem rather focused on this for somebody who feigns uninterest.”

Count Oleander Thorne
Oleander wasn't going to judge a stranger for meeting up with a person he had never met before. Oleander couldn't say he'd ever been a similar situation- meeting strangers on a whim was different from meeting up with them after all- as Oleander would be forced to have some semblance of support and backup... not that he needed it.
There certainly wasn't much to say as they reached the room. The man opened the door and moved towards his case, Oleander lingering near the entrance of the room in wait. He tilted his head ever so lightly as the man opened the case and out popped a- "What a curious creature." Oleander certainly hadn't seen anything like it before. He strode ever so close before crouching to observe the little... was it truly a frog? He'd assume so. He crouched to observe the little frog at eye-level, best he could achieve.
Oh, it didn't look normal, not in the slightest. Ever so hesitant, he outreached a hand just to assure it was truly a living creature.... allowing the being to move onto his hands so he could stand and observe instead.
Oleander narrowed his eyes and concentrated- oh... oh there was a heartbeat. There was blood rushing through the little beings body. Oh, and yet it seemed so strange overall. It didn't fit together like it should, like a normal frog should. Oleander's eyes flashed upwards to the man standing there, smiling. "You created life using multiple lives?"

Raoul let out a huff. “I’m not feigning anything,” Raoul objected. “I just...haven’t talked to someone recently, you’re the first person that I’ve had a conversation with since...well since I left France,” he explained, looking down. Not that many people had talked to him back home either, typically people only came to him when they needed their clocks fixed and that wasn’t very often. Which...Grey certainly didn’t have to talk to him, not now, not before, never, yet he was and Raoul had been...kind of mean. Fiddling with his fingers, Raoul sighed. ”...I’m sorry for earlier, I have some...anger issues, especially about that...nickname, ‘Wolfie’ hits a little differently for me,” he explained, his hand reaching up to his neck where the mark of the wolf had been placed, a sore reminder that he had been claimed by the moon, he had been called things like “Wolfie” before, simply in far less friendly situations.

Vilhelm Frankenstein
Vilhelm grinned smugly, folding his arms as he watched the other man interact with his tiny frog creation. “Impressive, isn’t it? I built him myself, I collected the bodies of at least fifteen different dead frogs and I stitched them together so delicately, so finely that all I had to do was give it a little...spark of life,” he explained, letting out a chuff of laughter as he knelt down to watch the frog more closely. “Creating life from the dead, it’s an impressive feat, but this is only the beginning, if I can create a new life out of these frogs, then what is to stop me from creating more than frogs, more than mice, what shall stop me from creating the perfect human?” Vilhelm had plans and now that someone had truly taken an his work, he would finally be able to accomplish what he had set out to do.

There was a lot to gather from those two sentences. At first Grey was placing his attention on the first part, but he soon realized his mind wasn't going down that path and instead was focusing on the next thing Raoul had mentioned.
Interest now piqued, Grey cocked his head to the side, giving the other man a side glance in the dark. "France, eh? You've come a long way then for a cure. Do you really think you'll find what you're looking for here?" It was an honest question this time around, not one that Grey was asking to get underneath the wolf's skin. Raoul was putting a lot of hope in all of this, and Grey...well, he himself doubted Scarlet had anything for the other man, or at least he doubted she had the cure he was looking for.
At Raoul's apology, Grey couldn't help but chuckle faintly, shaking his head and looking back toward the window. Everything outside was still as quiet as ever, as if time itself had come to a pause just beyond the building. "Don't worry about it, everybody has things that hit a little hard." Grey himself had his own things. He wasn't sure if they would make him angry, but they would certainly make him feel something deeper than what he'd like to experience.

Raoul Heroux
Raoul paused, looking out the window, his sharp yellow eyes watching as an orange leaf broke off from a nearby tree and drifted throughout the wind. Did he really have that must trust in whoever this Bain person was to help him? Maybe, he didn’t know, but what he did know was that he had been offered a chance of freedom from the wolf, and he’d give just about anything for that. “I hope so,” he responded lightly, his voice soft and quiet, eyes never leaving the window. A cure was everything to him, if this place had one, he’d take it. Worst case scenario? He died, and honestly, Raoul was kind of okay with that.

Oleander Thorne
Oleander had to say, he really has not seen a creature like this. A creature made of pieces from many many different creatures. Oleander couldn't imagine tearing off the limbs of one of his soon-to-be fledglings, only to place it on another's body. It was absurd and undeeded. But, Oleander supposed this method of life was very unlike a vampire's.
Then he went about talking as though it was the creating life from death that was impressive and not the fact it was multiple lives into one. He really would need to correct that fact soon enough. It was getting annoying. Otherwise, he squinted and tilted his head, "You plan to take the bodies of 15 different humans and stitch them together too? And what's this spark of life you talk about?"

Vilhelm Frankenstein
If he was being honest with himself, Vilhelm was rather proud, so far, this other man hadn’t said anything about his creature being an abomination, he hadn’t told him that what Vilhelm was doing was the work of a madman, that it was immoral and corrupt, that he was allowing the devil to join him in his studies, no, so far, he had heard nothing like that from the other man, instead all he had heard was a curiosity. Smirking, Vilhelm gestured for Oleander to pass him the frog again. “Yes, by taking parts from already dead bodies, I could sew together a whole new person, they’d be alive, ingenious, isn’t it?” He asked, watching the other man to study his expression as Vilhelm explained everything, however when he asked about the spark of life, Vilhelm couldn’t stop the grin from spreading across his face. “Lightning,” he explained simply, gesturing for the other man to follow him to the window. “Electricity, specifically, it’s the key to reanimation, I use the electricity in the lightning to jolt the body back to life, I haven’t tried it on anything larger than a frog yet, but once I have collected the right body parts, then I can create me human,” he explained, looking out the window as he watched the dark clouds roll about the sky.

For as much as Grey knew, there was no cure here. He had never heard even a whisper of one, and beyond that, he had never heard Scarlet herself say anything about having a werewolf cure, but who knew? Perhaps she did. She was a powerful witch after all, and Grey didn’t stick his nose into every part of her business - he didn’t want to if he was being honest. He was more wary of what he would find out then he was curious. There were some things even Grey didn’t want to know about.
He shifted his gaze away from the window to Raoul, silently studying the man he was sharing the dark room with. ”I can smell it on you, ya know,” Grey murmured rather nonchalantly. ”The wolf.” This time his voice took on a more knowing air, even an inquisitive one. He had certainly run into other lycanthropes in his time, and the ones he had had a chance to actually chat with all had their different stories. Grey couldn’t help but wonder what Raoul’s was, if he would even share it at all. Raoul seemed like a man who hid most things, and Grey supposed he couldn’t fault him for even for as open as Grey was, he himself still had his own secrets to hide.

Raoul froze, every muscle in his body going still. Grey...he knew, how did he know? He smelled it, he-wait how did he smell it? Raoul’s body relaxed ever so slightly as he glanced towards Grey. ”How do you know?” He asked, his striking yellow gaze looking him over curiously. “...You aren’t human either, are you?” There was no point in denying the fact that he was a werewolf by now, Grey had figured it out, however that didn’t stop Raoul from questioning the other man. Normal humans couldn’t just smell the wolf clinging to his scent like an unpleasant odor, if Grey truly had been able to smell it off of him, he would’ve had to have some sort of gift. He wasn’t another werewolf, Raoul knew that as he could always sense when another of his kind was near, but he knew that Raoul wasn’t human either. He was something entirely different.

An amused chuff came from Grey, the noise sounding more like a purr than anything else. He flashed a sly grin at the werewolf, the gesture revealing teeth much sharper, larger, and deadlier than any human could ever hope to have. His bright green eyes flashed in the darkness, pupils narrowing into slits. ”Why, my dear, I’m perhaps less human than you are,” he replied smoothly, that purr from earlier echoing in his words. Unlike Raoul he had never started off as just human. He had always had a beast inside him. From day one he had been both human and feline. Nothing had bitten him, nobody had cursed him, he had always been the creature he was.
Knowing that they were the only ones in the room, Grey wasn’t worried one bit to show his other self to the werewolf. He was quick about it, the shift from human to feline as natural as breathing to him. Within a matter of seconds Grey no longer stood as a human, but rather a large, sleek puma with charcoal gray fur. He elegantly wrapped himself around Raoul, looking up at him with those same bright green eyes he had even as a human, watching the other man, waiting for the reaction he would receive.

Perhaps he should’ve been surprised, after all, where there was once a man now stood a large charcoal colored cat, however as Raoul watched Grey shift into the creature, all he could do was think “Huh, seems about right,” with a small nod of his head. There has been something catlike about Grey from the start, something about his posture and his purr like laughter, even his scent had been cat like, although Raoul had just assumed that he owned cats, not that he was one. “So you’re a shifter?” He asked, eyeing the man curiously. Over the years, after he had been bitten, Raoul’s eyes had been opened to a whole new world that he hadn’t known about before. The thought of running into a shapeshifter of sorts didn’t seem nearly as out there now as it once had.

A twitch of his whiskers noted the laughter that vibrated in the back of his throat. He flicked the tip of his tail in a silent rhythm, standing there pressed up against Raoul a moment longer before finally stepping around the werewolf in circles, never once taking his green eyes off the man as he moved. His ears swiveled to the sound of his voice, taking in the way Raoul spoke; there was no surprise in his voice, only something that seemed like the opposite of surprise - as if Raoul should have known this already but hadn’t put the pieces together.
After a few more moments Grey breathed in as he shifted back into his human form, slender body still wrapped around the other man but now in more of the form of a hug. ”Why, Raoul, how did you ever figure out my terrible secret?” He inquired all in play, resting his head atop the other man’s shoulder, certainly getting himself as physically close to Raoul as he could in the moment.

Raoul liked to think that he was good at masking his emotions, that he knew a thing or two about acting calm under pressure and knowing how to handle himself in any given situation. Sure he had some anger issues, but he knew how to get those under control. What he didnt know how to control was the immediate heat that rushed to his face the second that Grey shifted back into his human form and had laced his arms around Raoul, practically purring his teasings into Raoul’s ear. As his face flushed, Raoul began to stammer. “You-uh, you’re touching me,” he said dumbly, as if that was somehow some kind of answer to the question. At least it wasn’t the worst thing he could’ve said, he had just about called the other man “pretty” to his face, however Raoul seemed to have just enough restraint not to do that.

Grey was a master at reading other people. He knew the signs of fear, excitement, sadness, just about every emotion out there. He was observant, the feline in him catching on to every subtle movement, reading into every breath of air and analyzing every tone of voice used. Even if he wasn’t as human as he had first appeared to be, the cat knew just about every nuance a human could make. He supposed it came with the territory of his line of work, but he also liked to believe that he was just a natural at it.
Right now, though, he could practically sense the difficulties that Raoul was having. He could quite easily hear it in the werewolf’s stuttered response. It was amusing, enough to make Grey chuckle under his breath. He’d back down if Raoul became uncomfortable, but right now, Grey didn’t think there was any unease hidden away in the other man’s posture.
”Mmm, I am,” he purred. ”Is that okay?” He asked, because listen, one of the sexiest things out there was consent and Grey was all about that. He could read into body language like an expert, but sometimes the quickest way for him to realize that somebody didn’t want his advances was when they simply told him “no” to start with.

Raoul Heroux
Raoul’s face flushed with warmth, his ears turning red at the tips, he wasn’t quite used to this, honestly he hadn’t ever met someone as touchy as Grey was, however he couldn’t really say he minded, which...might’ve been the problem, actually. “I’d prefer if you didn’t,” Raoul responded, doing his best to found firm, pulling away from the other man. “It’s indecent, if someone were to come down here and see, well, there’s no telling what they’d think,” he explained, looking away from Grey as he tried his best to rid his face of the warmth just underneath his skin.

Grey had to admit that he felt a spark of disappointment with Raoul’s answer, but he respected it nonetheless and backed off, pulling away from the other man. He was an incredibly touchy feely person, but if the other person in question wasn’t into it, they weren’t into it, and that was okay.
As he stepped away, he eyed Raoul with amusement, a sly smirk crawling across his visage. ”I can tell you right away indecent exposure is something that people around here are used to, but don’t worry, I respect your decision. Besides,” he started, stopping for a second as he tilted his head and wandered off into thought, ”you’re not the only new face around here. I suppose I shouldn’t shock them with what all I can do right off the bat. Maybe I should ease them into that rather than scare them off.” A teasing chuff slipped off his tongues after he spoke the words, eyeing Raoul as he waited for a reaction.
