Noel had noticed the man approaching perhaps two minutes before he called - impressive, considering he was on horseback. But the horse was almost painfully slow. When they drew closer, he could see signs of old age on his muzzle. Unsurprising, then, that he moved at a pace more wander than walk. So he wasn't surprised to hear his voice, in fact, he was impatient to.
"You're not wrong," he replied with a wry smile, glancing to Kida. "My horse is injured," he said by way of explanation. "You wouldn't happen to live in the area? I would happily compensate you for a place to stay the night, I doubt I'll make it into town before nightfall at this rate." In Lynde, he would have been confident he'd get a yes, even hadn't offered compensation. People in his home country knew him. Here, though, there was no way to know if he'd be recognised or not. And if he was, it was just as likely he'd be turned away as helped.

Noel nodded, glancing over his shoulder as if he might see the stranger's house there, right in front of him. When he didn't, he returned his focus to him, nodding when he asked to take a look at his horse. "Of course, go ahead. He'll tell you if he wants you to back off." He was sure of that much.

(So, so , so sorry for late response!!!!)
Parker, with the permission, approached the horse slowly. He spoke softly the the animal, holding out his hand for him to smell. When he got close enough, he ran a hand over his shoulder and down the injured leg a couple of times, but so the horse could get use to him. Then did he try to lift the hoof in question up, being mindful of the make shift splint in place. He did so slowly and gently as to not disturb the horse too much as he inspected the bottom of the hoof. "Well, there's nothing lodged in his foot, but his ankle is starting to feel a little warm," he stated, setting his foot down and standing up. "Might be sprained or bruised. It should heal pretty soon. We've got some stuff we can wrap it in and make sure it doesn't get worse."

( no worries at all! i get it )
Noel nodded. He'd been able to tell as much himself, but a second opinion was rarely something he minded. "I thought sprain as well," he agreed, glad, at least, that they hadn't disagreed. He was no equestrian, but he had plenty of experience with the creatures nonetheless. Having spent as much time in the saddle as he had, he'd learned plenty. And his father had seen to it that he would understand his steed and how to look after it. After all, he spent most of his time on the road alone. Nobody else could be relied upon to take after Kida. "I would appreciate that, if you 're offering."

"Wouldn't be here if I wasn't," Parker responded with a smile. He held out a hand to the man in greeting. "My name's Parker Dorreh," he introduced. Really he guessed he should have mentioned his name earlier before he offered lodging, but, oh well. No harm in that. Then nodded in the direction his new acquaintance just came from. "We'll be able to make it before sundown, however, if you want to make it in time for dinner, then we need to leave five minutes ago."
He gave a small chuckle as he went to retrieve the reins of his own horse. The old man looked like he was ready for nap. Parker gave him a gentle pat on the neck to wake him up. Grandpa lifted his head, snuffled around his pocket, looking for the treats that he always had with him. So far, the man had given him everything that he had, so he could only apologize and promised him an extra scoop of oats when they got home. With that done, he coaxed him into a walk, leading the way down the road once more on foot.
