i don't mind either way! usually I don't plan for romance, if there's chemistry there's chemistry, you know, but if it's something you like to include then i don't mind that at all! pairing wise it mostly depends on the character, so again, if you've got a preference there let me know ^^

okay, here we are! ngl it's a messy form, but i'll fix it up later haha i wanted to get something up since you wanted to see what you were playing against, hopefully that's alright? i'll clean it up probably tomorrow, maybe never lmao ~ Noel Wymund ~ 24 ~ male, bisexualΒ
* * * If there is one thing in life that Noel is grateful for, it's that he took after his mother, the King's first mistress. Looking nothing like his father and half-sister is not something that bothers him, in fact, he relishes in it. He's of average height, perhaps ever so slightly on the taller side at 5'11, and leanly muscled. His hair, which he never lets grow long enough for it to begin to lie flat against his head, is pitch black and thick. His large, round eyes are paler but still dark, a deep brown which turns auburnΒ in direct sunlight, and they mark him immediately as his mother's son. Thanks to his strong jaw and brow, his expression is often hard set, and even when at rest, he looks a little annoyed. His skin is a few shades darker than his legitimate siblings', something he attributes to his mother's southern roots, but is also due in large part to the amount of time he spends outdoors. He has two small but easily identifiable facial scars, one by the inner corner of his left eyebrow and another across his left upper lip. He couldn't tell you when or where he got them. He also has several cleverly placed tattoos very few people know of as his parents, most importantlyΒ his father the king, wouldn't approve. The largest of these is a snake on the right side of his ribcage. When asked, he claims it to be for protection, but the glint in his eye when he says so impliesΒ something else.
Noel is, above all other things, loyal. He picks his causes, people, and beliefs with great care and then he sticks by them with an unwavering certainty - perhaps too unwavering. He's a fighter, and willing not only to fight for things he believes in but for the fun of it, there are few things he finds as motivating as some form of conflict, likely due to his ferocious competitiveness. Though you might not think it, with how passionate and emotional he can be, Noel is a calculating man. He knows how to get his way through brute force, certainly, but more often than not he prefers to get it through peaceful methods. He is highly aware of his capabilities and power and knows how to use both and does so without remorse.Β
Being the King's oldest child and also a bastard has given Noel an interesting life. As he was born before the Queen's first child, his younger sister, the situation at court has been tense since his birth, with Noel, the party furthest removed from the King, often ending up at the centre of it all. Growing up, he spent very little time with his family, instead learning to fight and hunt and protect the family he hardly spoke to in an attempt by the Queen to keep him as far from his father's gaze as possible. Despite that, he's formed a surprisingly tight bond with the Princess in recent years. Their younger siblings he barely speaks to, nor his step-mother, but since spending more time outside the palace the situation has calmed down enough for him to spend more time with his family.
Though he technically has a claim to the throne, it is a weak one, and he only comes after his legitimate siblings and cousins, making him 16th in line for the throne. However, that's not to say he is powerless, he isn't by any stretch of the imagination. Admittedly, his power at court is mostly due to association. While he may be a bastard, being the King's first-born and the son of his preferred mistress means he has plenty of sway at court. Technically speaking, he is only a low ranking noble - as his mother is a Countess he'll inherit her title and become an Earl upon her death - but in practice, he outranks most visiting nobles thanks to nothing but his royal parentage. It is well known in the Kingdom and at Court alike that he has his mother's ear, and she has the ear of the King in turn. Outside the palace walls, however, his power is all his. He's made a name for himself as the King's blade and spends most of his time travelling the Kingdom as a sort of assassin/spy/messenger.Β

idk if you want to match forms (that's completely up to you), but in case you do, here's a template i whipped up. the image should be 5:4 in aspect ratio

(I'M SO SORRY!!!!! I got distracted and the completely forgot. ) Okay, for the girl, if you like her, I can edit a bit on her backstory to fit the plot better. ~ Sallie Rou ~ 20 ~ Female; straight
* * * Sallie is a fair girl. Sheβs the type of girl who turns heads wherever she goes, but not in a way you would think. For the most part, her appearance is average. Brunette hair tops her head, reaching a bit passed her shoulders. However, you will never see her wearing her hair down. She always has it pulled back into a ponytail with only her bangs hanging down over her left eye. She has a soft, round face, her nose lightly speckled with freckles, and deep-set almond brown eyes underneath think eyebrows. Well, one does at least. While the right eye still holds her natural brown coloring, the left one has long since turned milky white. The cause of this comes from the multiple scars running over her eyes, the only blemishes to be found on her face. Itβs these old injuries that caused her to lose the sight of her eye when she was a child. Sallie is a reserved girl, but friendly and polite to all. On first impressions, one wouldnβt believe that she is a very outspoken girl since she doesnβt often talk more than is need. Timid at first, the girl will wait until she has learned more about a person before speaking her mind in fear of causing unwanted trouble. However, once she has become friends with a person, she is no stranger to giving her opinion on a certain matter. She not an out-going person, but that doesnβt mean she doesnβt like exploring every now and then, to get out of town for a while or two and leave behind the humdrum of everyday life.
For the first seven years of life, Sallie had been in the care of her father. The man had problems with alcohol, and his temper was never in check. These two things combined were never good. Many times, he took out his anger on his daughter. At the age of seven, he had drank much more than he normal did, and in a fit of rage caused by some outside influence, took a broken glass bottle to her face, leaving the child with several gashes on her left eye and the eventual loss of her sight. After that night, Sallie had been taken in by her aunt and uncle while she assumed her father had been arrested and sent away. From then on, she grew up learning the ropes of a merchant family. While not a big name in the business, Cordel family has spent years traveling the western edge of the kingdom and cities beyond, establishing a good name for themselves among the people they dealt with. She herself has taken the lead on several journeys in her uncleβs stead in times where he couldnβt make such trips or had other business to attend to, so life on the road is second nature to her.
Same with this guy. XD His description is probably not the best, but I will clean it up if we go with him. ~ Parker Dorreh ~ 22 ~ Male; gay
* * * Parker is a man who is no stranger to a hard day's work. Standing at 5'8", he sports a sturdy build. He is by no means built, but his is muscular and fit due to growing up on a farm. His skin, which is a light in tone, stays tanned year round. Brown hair tops his head, which he keeps no longer than just past his ears. Any longer and the curls would completely take over. His hooded eyes are a smoky blue-grey, and are framed by long lashed. When it comes to facial shape, he doesn't have the most masculine structure. Taking more after his mother, his face is rounder, holding softer details in the nose, cheeks, and chin.
For the most part, Parker is a chill guy. Stay on his good side, and everything's fine. He's always one to welcome anyone who is in need of a friend, and will insert himself into an argument in defense for someone in need. However, it doesn't take much to offend this man. Being born into the working class, and a farmer at that, he grew up hearing people talk down about him and his family. It's safe to say that really what he gets offended over the most is when people start to underestimate him or think themselves higher and mightier than him simply from the stations in which they were born. Anything else, he might let slide, but to approach him with a condescending attitude is a sure fire way to start a fight when him. Aside from the temper, Parker also has a side that longs for adventure. Farming is nice and all, but the man longs for chances to visit other places, even if it's just to the next town over. There's something about being in a new place, where things are broken from the humdrum daily routine that makes him feel good. Sure, there's never been much adventure offered to him, but he still likes to put himself out there, playing hero to those in need and hoping that one day he'll get an excuse to visit other portions of the kingdom he's never been to before.
Ugh, neither is great, but, like I said, I'll work out the bugs when you pick you who like better. Especially Parker. I didn't do much with his background/history, merely because I'm still a little fuzzy on how we'll be setting up the plot and the kingdoms, but I'll make up something as soon as we get that figured out. Also, I'm bad at coding, so I couldn't get the pictures to work. XD

as for which character we want to go with, i feel like that pretty much comes down to which direction we want the plot to take, you know? i feel like they'd work for pretty different things, if that makes sense?

good question. honestly, i think pretty much anything but something diplomatic haha his siblings are the diplomats, he's what's sent in when diplomacy isn't enough. maybe his father is in discussion regarding an alliance (wedding? in a brewing war? preventative show of strength?) and he's being sent in to make sure that the other kingdom isn't going to stab him in the back?
also, how do we want magic to function? personally, i see noel coming from a kingdom where magic is very commonplace but super secretive, every family has their own spells and charms and they keep them to themselves because there's a huge sense of pride attatched to it, kind of like family recipies if that makes sense? that way there can be a lot of mystery and whimsy to it as well - noel won't have any idea how other people are doing their magic, only how he's doing his and how his mother's doing hers. possibly he'd know a little of how the royals perform theirs, but not all of it. that can always change though, if you see any issues with it?

For sure, he has to be sent in as the muscle. XD I like the idea of him going to reinforce a marriage alliance. Perhaps the kingdom with no magic is under the threat of an invasion from another neighboring kingdom. Being smaller than the potential threat, they seek to gain help from Noel's kingdom. Noel's kingdom has magic, and perhaps the "normal" kingdom has more natural resources and whatnot that they need. A very standard alliance, but, as you say, maybe the rulers of the "normal" kingdom might be planning something else and or are acting a little too suspicious, so Noel is sent in to keep an eye on things and make sure all goes well.
As for the magic, that's a good question. I actually like your idea. Magic is well-known, but every family having their own style and flare and whatnot can ensure that no one person knows how to cast every single spell in the book. And even if two families know how to perform the same spell, there will obviously be differences in the way it is cast and the way it takes form. I think that could work really nicely.

yeah, that all works for me! so which of your characters do you think would work better for something like that? I feel like Parker would play up the fantastical side of things and Sallie more so the political, so it just comes down to preference I think

Noel was in trouble. Kali, the stallion he'd been riding for seven years now, had stepped wrong, and now he was stranded. Or, well, he supposed he was only stranded by his unwillingness to push Kali to keep going on a sprain, possibly even a torn ligament. He could get to the next town by nightfall and get a new horse there if he really wanted to, but something like that might very well ruin Kali for good. The injury wasn't so bad, really. By Noel's assessment, he'd be completely healed in a few months, ready to ride with care in even less. But if he kept going, it would get worse, and quickly. It was unlikely it would ever heal right. Even if he hadn't loved his horse, in a way, he was a palace trained stallion, unmatched in long-distance speed even by his father's horse. It was an investment too costly to simply throw away.
And so, he was stuck. He'd dismounted and checked Kali's ankle, and was currently splinting it with a straight-ish branch he'd found a small distance away. Just what he'd do when he was done he wasn't sure. There must be someone living close by - a farmer, perhaps. If he could get to them, he could go anywhere. But how he was going to do that? Well, that was a problem to be solved ten minutes from now.

One of these days, he was sure he would fall asleep riding back and forth from town. Parker sat in the saddle of one of his family's horses. The old gelding, dubbed Grandpa by his gentle nature and slow plodding pace, was one of his favorites. As the oldest horse in the barn, having been around since the man was a child, it was hard not to love the dappled brown gelding. However, his easy pace and the long ride to town was not a good mixture. Really, it was hard some days for him to not be lulled into a nap while upright in the saddle. Nothing would happen, of that he was sure of. Hardly any traffic was on the road, for this was a little side road more than a main highways that travelers favor. The road he was on now, while it did circle back to the main road, took a more scenic route, connecting all the farms of the area. No one bothered going this way unless they were visiting one of the farms or they were lost.
So imagine the surprise when spotted another person on the road ahead of him, heading the way he had just come from. Of course, it really wasn't his place to question his presence here, but his curiosity had been sparked. Especially since the man was leading his horse, who was obliviously limping. "A little late to be going on a stroll," he called out in a greeting when he drew close enough to the stranger. The sun would be setting in little under an hour.
