Hello!Well, the leaves are changing, fall is here, and I'm feeling an ancient Greece roleplay! I don't have a super solidified idea yet, but I was hoping other people might be interested in a small group roleplay oriented around a band of Greek heroes? It would be an advanced roleplay with slots for players to choose from, with maybe about 6 main characters? My main idea is that it would revolve around a group of panhellenic heroes coming together to defeat a great enemy. Perhaps Artemis laid down a curse on an island and now the wilds are terrorized by giant wolves, bears, and other terrible creatures. Our characters can come from diverse backgrounds and we can give them fun backstories like "The Spartan descendant of Zeus who wishes to avenge his long-lost brother." Or something to that effect.
Anyway, I'm a classicist so all of this gets me really excited but I want to be sure others are interested before making an official rp. Let me know what you think! If I get a helper or two, I'll start actually working on it.
Slots:
The Sun of Corinth (ℊℓоω ), m The Comet of Sparta, f The Thunder of Athens, m The Star of Crete, f The Eclipse of Arcadia, m The Flame of Thebes, m

Well, looks like we have a few people who are interested! I guess I'll go through with the planning, then. People are welcome to post here and help me plot or just chat c:
Beginnings of layout ideas:
➳ NAVIGATION
✧ Introduction ✧ Backstory (About the plot, the island of Chios, the world) ✧ Rules ✧ Characters (Slots and character descriptions) ✧ Joining ✧ Miscellaneous
➳ WELCOME
The island of Chios is under attack, but not by humans. For months, hunters have gone missing in the forests. Stories began to circulate about large beasts roaming the woods, some as tall as trees. This stories were dismissed as exaggeration until an entire farmtown was massacred in one night, nothing left of its residents but torn limbs and pools of blood. Then a second village was destroyed, and a third. The few remaining survivors corroborated stories of packs of giant wolves and bears with claws like tree trunks. Those few men brave enough to venture into the forests have never returned. Now, the most skilled and renowned heroes in all of Greece have been called to the island to investigate the killings and hopefully to put an end to the carnage. Our story begins with six of these heroes setting off into the cursed woods.
Glow's character ideas:
Xenion of Corinth (main) -- Son of Helios. Origin story is that one day a traveler came to the city and was housed by an oligarch named Calliso. The stranger was handsome, witty and clearly had a story to tell. The oligarch fed him and clothed him, and allowed him to stay for three days. Upon leaving, the stranger revealed that he was actually the god of the sun, Helios, and that he had impregnated both the oligarch's daughter and a slave girl. He foretold that one of his future children would go on to be the savior of Greece who would have five equally heroic sons, but he did not reveal which. For that reason, the oligarch elected raise the babies of both his royal daughter and the slave girl. The former gave birth to a boy, and the latter a girl. These babies would grow up to become Xenion and his half-sister, Basilia. Today Xenion is a prolific warrior who has participated in eleven battles, despite being only twenty-two. He is considered a favorite of the gods, but it is widely known that he serves the interests of his grandfather. He is a protective and loyal brother to his sister, who is not yet married. (Appearance: dark blonde hair, tanned skin, brown eyes. Gold armor depicting the sun god on his chariot of serpents. Wears a helmet with a dark blue mane and golden spikes. Tall, strong, but more agile than brutish. Personality: brooding, loyal, a bit morally bankrupt, ambitious, family-oriented)
Basilia (side) -- His half-sister. Strange dichotomy. On one hand, she is the daughter of a slave (as well as a god). On the other, the prophecy did not specify that the savior of Greece would be male. But her grandfather wishes to marry her to a prudent match, and Xenion is reluctant to let his sister marry. For now, she remains with her family, and she is a force in and of herself. She is radiant, charming, and even more conniving than her brother, though also more emotional. She takes after him in appearance, with dark hair that lightens in the summer, olive skin, and cat-like brown eyes. Unlike her him, however, she is not a warrior and she is much smaller in stature.

Sideplots: - ? - ?
The Heroes: Many Greek heroes have a mythical backstory or a patron god who helps them along the way. The Gods will be a presence, and they might make appearances at times. The gods will essentially be NPCs that anyone can take feature at any given point, but we will not be main characters. They will also not intervene to the point of winning battles on behalf of the heroes, as we want there to be some conflict. The main function of the gods will be to give sage advice and to give gifts to our heroes. As a general rule, we'll say that the Fates dictate that the gods cannot change the destiny of mortals by saving them from death or assisting them in an enormous victory. Also, each main character is encouraged to have weapons or armor that is unique in some way. This is a fantasy roleplay so everyone is encouraged to be creative and you can interpret that however you like, just don't give them anything that is too overpowered. Lean as much as you want into giving your character a backstory, lineage, legacy, etc. The more developed the better!

i like the idea of artemis having laid the curse, because she's not one i see do that often. the giant predators idea is awesome! maybe part of the curse is that your weapon has to be blessed by a deity or bathed in the blood of a specific monster to cut through the cursed creatures? so that it makes more sense why only these specific heroes are able to defeat them?

inky and ʙᴜᴍʙʟᴇʙᴇᴇ » are both of you still interested in this roleplay? No worries whatsoever if you're just busy or if you're no longer interested, just trying to take stock of how many people we might have. Also trying to figure out when I should post a starter. Don't want to rush anybody c:
