Bravelands is really good. Entirely different concept from Warriors (beyond the talking animals of course) but the diversity in species rather than just all cats is definitely interesting to see.
I know what you mean about reading, between work family and friends feels like theres not much reading time lol. It's gotten a lot better with the kindle app rather than physical books. I can just read on the go, in the bathroom, whenever i can find a few spare minutes. Though often I end up just finishing the book the same night I get it lol)

Together their paw steps thundered through the forest. Winter did her best to avoid scraping her fur along any twigs or branches, as Whisp had advised. She never would have even thought about leaving a scent trail - the blue molly couldn't help but admire her wisdom. But, it was hard to think about anything other than the burning feeling in her muscles. Winter was used to living the pampered life of a house pet, so running for this long, even with her adrenaline pumping, was quickly taking the breath out of her. She hid her huffing and puffing as well as she could, keeping her head down and trying to manage her pace to stick with Whisp's.
As far as looking out for shelter went, Winter had no idea what they meant! There were no houses out here, just a bunch of dirt and trees! she didn't have the eye for spotting survivable shelters that Whisp had. She continued to glance around as they went, looking for... Something, but she couldn't find anything. I really hope Chervil and Adder are ok... M-Maybe we should go back and find them? But the thought of encountering those dogs made Winter's bones rattle again. She lowered her head and continued to press on. No... They HAVE to be ok. They'll find us...

Exhaustion began to pull at Whisp and she cast a glance back at Winter to see how the younger molly was fairing. She had managed to keep up, but it wasn't hard to see that she was ready to stop. Slowing down Whisp brought then to a stop at the base of a walnut tree, and stood there for a good few minutes without a word as she tried to catch her own breath. "I think this is far enough, hopefully Adder and Chervil don't have too hard a time following our trail." Whisp had taken precautions as the ran, by zig zagging and even tracking through some pungent plants to throw off the dogs if they happened to follow. Now all that was needed was for them to find shelter.
Narrowing her eyes at their surroundings Whisp began to wander about the base of the walnut tree taking the land about them. "Come let's check over there, the land seems to rise a bit, maybe there is a small stream of gully on the other side that might have some good spots to shelter in." The moment of resting had ended and they were on the move once again, however this time as a comfortable pace. "Its important that we find a safe place to bed down for the night, and it's always wise to pick a spot while the sun is still up and you have time to check out the surrounding areas." Whisp simply just spoke her mind to Winter, knowing that the former house pet had no idea the reasoning behind her actions. If anything she was doing her beat to educate the blue shecat about living in the wild.

With Fern stirring awake Lichen gulped down the last bit of his half and sat up. "Yes I am... thank you. Um, here have the rest", and with that the tabby and white tom picked up the half eaten squirrel and padded over to her placing it at her paws. A limp was apparent in the toms uneven gate, but he was no longer at deaths door and on his way to a full recovery. Pawing the prey a bit closer to her Lichen then took a step back and sat down. Unsure of what to say next the feline began to busy himself by grooming his pelt as she ate. It was oddly nice to have company, but Lichen still felt a bit awkward. Atleast he wasn't in a grumpy mood anymore, and trying to chase her off. Now that she had stayed with him through that, he didn't want her to leave any time soon. Heeding hisnsiaters advice he had chosen to try and get to know the molly, he just didn't quite no where to start. So as he groomed his pelt the toms mind raced about how to converse with her once they were done.

Winter was thankful for the short rest. She nearly doubled over, but just managed to stay on her feet. The young molly panted, looking back at their tracks. She was constantly checking for Chervil and Adder, but she hasnโt been able to catch a glimpse of them yet. Dejected, she turned her head back to Whisp, and the two were on the move again. The pace this turn was slower, but her muscles were still stiff and exhausted. She listened as the cream molly explained what would make a good shelter. With her gifted ears perked, her head would swivel around their surroundings to try to find a suitable spot. But still... It didnโt look like anywhere was a place she would consider to be a home.
Though it stung her to admit, Winter was missing home. Soft carpet under paw, a big, safe nest that protected her from wind and rain and predators. Resting on her owners chest as they slept, nuzzling into their hands. That one spot on the upper floor window ciel she would sit to bathe in the sunshine. When Winter thought about it, she could almost feel like she was there. But when snapped back, she realized that her and Whisp were trekking through the undergrowth to find some place to hide from rabid dogs. The ground was tough under her paws, and she was starving! The poor blue molly nearly let out a whine, but she swallowed her sadness that had become a hard lump in her throat. Pouting wasnโt going to help anything. โDo you see anything that looks good?โ She asked Whisp above the rumbling of her belly.

Reaching the peak of the hill from within the woods Whisp released a sigh of disappointment. There was nothing before them but a thick tangle of brambles and vines that reached up into the trees. "Well I was hoping that there was some place up here that would be suitable. Higher ground is easier to defend and less likely to flood during harsh storms." Sniffing the thick bramble wall Whisp began to follow it, hoping to find an opening that they might be able to squeeze into. Maybe these brambles weren't such a bad thing, here they were hesitant about continuing forwards she could imagine how much harder it would be for dogs to try and get through this. "Look for an opening of sorts, there might be something worth looking at on the other side."
Almost as quickly as she had said that did a small opening appear. "Oh perfect!" Crouching down Whisp wriggled into the brambles, its sharp thorns scraping at her pelt and tugging at her fur. "Or maybe ... not.." she added hesitantly as the walls began to close in around her. Determination to reach to other side was what propelled the cream molly through the tight thorn filled gap, tearing some of the vines from their place making the hole bigger. Finally, Whisp burst into a small clearing on the other side. "Ahh", she winced giving her pelt a quick shake. Her pink nose and ears had little bloody scratches on them from shoving through the thorns. "Come on through Winter! I'm pretty sure I made the hole a bit bigger, just watch your pawsteps. You don't wanna get a thorn stuck in your pads." Turning back to look about the clearing Whisp waited for her companion to join her. The land before her seemed to be completely surrounded by the briar wall and the land had a slope downwards. There were a few large bushes and ferns along with what looked to be a tiny moss covered rocky stream, probably a drain off stream for during the rainy season. "You have got to see this Winter! With a bit of work this place would be perfect for all of us!" Hope began to flutter within Whisps heart, did they really just stumble upon this place?! And there be cats in her life now to share this with? It all seemed almost too perfect.

Adder nodded wholeheartedly, glancing across his own pelt, which was covered in small cuts and scratches from the dogs' teeth and claws narrowly missing him during the escape under the monster. "I never thought I'd see the day a kittypet had the guts to live in the wild. The toms eventually arrived at the end of the scent trail, and Adder blinked in confusion. Whisp and Winter's scent was all over the bramble thicket, but the two she-cats were nowhere to be found. "Where do you think they went?" He mused aloud, before calling out, "Whisp? Winter?"

Lichen finished grooming best he could, trying to avoid the tender areas around his wound that were still covered in cobwebs, just as Fern finished her meal. "Eh I'm sure I could manage... I would hate to be a bother to you. Already you have done so much", he meowed tail curling at the thought of her wanting to stay with him. He didnt want to feel like a burden, yeah he was injured but if he had to he could manage alone. Might loose some weight but with prey running so well right now it might not even be an issue. "But if you insist, I won't chase you off." For the first time his tone turned in his typical dry humor way and he gently stood up. "Wanna go for a small walk? Or atleast get some fresh air?" He invited wanting to be free of the stale den and try to catch the remaining rays of sunlight.

(I love the camp that Whisp found! ;w; It looks so pretty in my head!)
Winter tilted her head in curiosity as she watched Whisp wiggle through a small opening in the brambles, and completely disappear into the other side. The blue molly shuffled in her spot nervously, before heeding her words and squeezing through herself. Although the hole was now bigger, it still lightly scraped at her long fur, she let out a quiet hiss of pain, but when she emerged into the other side, her mild discomfort had quickly vanished. "Whoa..." Were the only words she could get out at first.
This place must have been a paradise for a wild cat! The ground under paw was soft and grassy, likely from the it not having been tread much. The grass was springy under her steps, the brair wall around them created a nestled, cozy clearing, almost like a home. A nearby tree leaned into the clearing, it's large leaves creating a canopy, and also scattering dots of light throughout the floor. She peeked towards where the land sloped off, creating a small dip where it seemed either a pool, or creek could easily run through. The ferns and wild flowers that grew created a warm, pleasant smell, reminiscent to Winter's old home.
Finally, the smaller blue shecat looked to Whisp, her blue eyes bright. "Whisp... This. This! This place is perfect!" She squealed with joy. Although exhausted, the excitement was too much to contain, she leapt into the air, her fur bushed out like an excited kits. "It's so beautiful in here!" Her voice echoed throughout the clearing, it was then that she heard a familiar voice touch her tufted ears. She gasped, exploding towards the hole in the thicket, and squeezing out of it until just her head sand shoulders popper out of the other side. With bright eyes, she looked up to see Chervil and Adder. "You guys are ok!!" She exclaimed, her voice peaked with relief and joy. "I was so worried you guys wouldn't... W-What happened to the dogs? Oh! Come in, come in!" The blue molly hurried through her questions so fast she almost forget to show them Whisp's discovery. She wiggled back into the hole, disappearing from sight.

(Same! ^^)
"Winter!" Adder exclaimed as he saw the small head poke through a tiny bramble opening. The gap had been so small he hadn't even noticed it under the heavy overhang of treacherous brambles. Exchanging a glance of astonished amusement with Chervil, the gray tom ducked his head and carefully followed Winter's disappearing tail. The path through the gap was uncomfortably close, but he was sure they could move the thorns farther. Shaking a few loose thorns from his pelt, he emerged from the other side. The tom blinked as he looked around the wide clearing, eyes growing soft at the hidden clearing. It was a closed and naturally defended area, with ample space and drinking water. He turned to Whisp, eyes wide with admiration. "This place is great!" He meowed.

"You can thank Whsip for finding it." Winter purred, her tail swishing happily. It brought her so much relief to know that Chervil and Adder were safe... But, she eyed the small cuts and pieces of scraped fur along his coat. "She sniffed this place out like a pro! I would have never thought to wiggle through this wall of thorns." The blue molly praised, beaming at Whisp.

ใGlad you guys like it! Plus it's a flexible space where we can create dens out of whatever. ใ
Relieved that they were finally in a safe space, Whisp sat her haunches down and began to groom her ruffled and dingy pelt. She had small scratches all over from the barrier, one in particular across her nose that was sore as all get out. Winter seemed to be filled with as much excitement as a kit when she broke through to the inside of the concealed clearing. "Hopefully this place lives up to expectations, I have high hopes that this would make a great camp." Now not only was she safe but so was Winter and the others when they arrived. As the creamy molly thought about the brave tom cats who led the dogs away, a faint voice from outside reached her ears. Winter had been quick to lead them inside so the older shecat just stayed put and finished cleaning off her face.
"Adder, Chervil, it's so good to see you two unharmed." She purred sweetly, honey colored eyes blinking happily and looking to Adder as he approached her. "Its pure luck I found this place" she added humbly casting a shy look down to her paws as they flexed on the soft grass underfoot. "You both were so brave, thank you for leading the dogs away so we could escape. I hate to think that we could all still be stuck in that tree with the dogs below just waiting for us to fall out like dead pinecones." Looking back up she cast a quick grateful look to Chervil and then allowed her eyes to rest on Adder.

Winter shuffled her paws, looking down at them for a moment. I just hope those cuts don't get infected... If only there was a person around who could help, what do wild cats do when they're injured or sick? She looked deep in thought, quietly standing there with her ears to her head.
Why don't you ask...? A quiet voice drifted to the back of Winter's ears, just barely an echo above her own thoughts. The blue molly lifted her head and looked at Adder and Whisp searchingly, but - they didn't say that. The voice didn't sound like any of theirs, and it looked like they were conversing with each other. She looked back to Chervil, but the voice wasn't his either. Her fur began to rise, her heartbeat picking up. Just as she turned to question if anyone else heard the voice, she stopped... A cat made of stars was sitting right beside Adder, a cloud of ash huddled around them. Their coat was made of the milky way itself, swirling bands of silver light and glittering stars, off set by a deep, nebulous purple.
It's you again... Winter's fur lied back again, she already knew that no one else could see, or hear this spirit. It was the same one that had been following her in her dreams, the same one that led her out here. She tried her best to look normal, not wanting to startle Whisp or the others. She silently watched the spirit as it gestured towards Adder, speaking their next words in a voice as soft and smooth as honey. If he looks hurt... Why don't you help?
I don't know how... Only people know how to take care of cats. Winter replied telepathically. The spirit smiled wistfully and shook her head, as she did, the cloud of ash that surrounded her slowly drifted to the ground. Only people...? Then how do you think we've survived out here so long? Come, ask him.
Winter looked at the spirit wearily, before turning her attention to Adder. "Hey, are uh... Are you hurt?" She said, sounding a bit hazy. It might have been clear that Winter looked a bit different, as just before she had the energy of a kitten, and now she seemed a bit more withdrawn. The blue molly flickered her tail in a gesture towards the cuts and scrapes on his coat. "Those scratches... They look sort of bad, do you need help?" Her voice was compassionate, and worried.

( i noticed both my kitties are named after plants and fern's name is quite similar to lichen, which i hadn't even thought about when adding her in here cx ))
At first, Fern thought that might be a polite way to tell her he didn't want her being around him much longer, but she brushed that thought away as he said he wouldn't chase her off and detected the bit of warmth behind his voice. Her ears pricked forward in interest at his suggestion, tilting her head slightly to the left. "A walk sounds nice." She mused, glancing around the den for a moment before nodding her head and standing up. "Alright. Don't agitate any large birds." She teased, waving her tail as she trotted into the undergrowth. Remembering Lichen's wound would still be tender, she slowed her pace to a lazy walk.
Chervil glanced at Adder, a bit confused and amused when Winter popped out from inside the jumble of brambles. He studied the thorny structure, making a loop around the whole thing to study the walls. It was sturdy, protected all the way around. He was just worried about the inside. He scrambled his way through the tunnel entrance, wincing slightly as the thorns snagged his fur and the exposed skin where the dog bit him, but he managed to get through and shook out his pelt once he was on the opposite side. His worries instantly melted away. It didn't look like much from the outside but the inside was lovely - a little clearing, thorn free with a soft mossy ground and even a water source. "Oh wow, nice find, Whisp." He meowed, looking around with a smile. He sat down, tail wrapping over his paws. Noticing a change in demeanor in Winter, where one second she was bouncing like a kit and now she seemed distracted and wary, he watched her curiously. "Do you know anything about wounds?" He meowed, interested. He himself didn't know much about treating illnesses or wounds, he usually just cleaned them with his tongue and let them heal on their own.

Adder couldn't help but feel a bit of pride swell in his chest at Whisp's words, happy that he had been able to contribute something to their fledgeling group. "Of course. Dogs are big, but they're dumb and scared of two-legs. Hopefully they stay away." He meowed. He held Whisp's gaze for a few moments longer, amber eyes glowing. He was so in awe of the new camp that he hadn't even noticed Winter's change in demeanor, until her query took his attention. He looked down at his gray pelt, as if noticing the cuts and scrapes for the first time. The injuries were shallow, but there were a lot of them due to the number of dogs, and they stung quite a bit. "If you have anything that helps, I'll be glad to try it." He meowed gratefully. He knew very little of healing wounds. A passing loner had once recommended that he roll in cobwebs to help deal with bleeding cuts, but the idea sounded quite unappealing to Adder.

Everyone seemed to like the little hidden glen that she had found, this day hadn't been wasted due to the dogs. As Whisp sat there licking her minor wounds and listening to Winters concern about their scrapes a small flash of brown caught her eyes. "Mouse!", she hissed quietly and without hesitation the cream molly darted after it. She wasn't trying to ignore Winter, but the opportunity for food could not be ignored. They were all hungry and exhausted, and she didn't know about the others but the last time she had eaten anything was before the sun had even rose over the horizon that morning. Diving straight into the deapths of a huge fern Whisp was quick to locate not one but two mice! Paws frantically flailing to catch them both she shecat snapped at one with her muzzle catching it by the hind leg and snagging the second with the claws on her right paw.
There was a brief moment where the fern thrashed wildly and a series of squeaks and squeals escaped it before all was silent. After a moment the fronds of the massive ferns parted and Whisp padded out plumed tail high and waving, clamped firmly in her jaws were two plump mice. Trotting back over to the other she place them on the ground and purred. "Im sorry Winter, I know nothing of herbs and healing remedies but atleast we won't fall asleep with empty bellies tonight."

ใWhat season and time of day is it? Lol I like how Lichen and Ferns names are similarใ
Pleased that she accepted, Lichen slowly made his way out of the den and into the forest. He paused for a moment once he reached a large sunny spot, to absorb its heat and energy. Eyes closed he took a deep breath as as he exhaled Ferns snide comment about birds caused his green eyes to flash open and cast a sharp playful gaze her way. Following after her it wasn't until she slowed her pace that he caught up and got in step with the tortie. "So where is it that you come from?" He questioned curiously. The tabby and white tom was interested to know more about the molly, and what better time to do that than on a leisurely stroll through the forest.
