Hello and welcome to my library. After such a long time of reading so many fan fictions I need some way of keeping track of which ones I have read (and how far I've read) and even which ones I'm writing. Anyway, the first post is my stories (and one-shots) The second post is my Currently Reading post Third is for one-shots/short-story progress And the fourth is my To-Read post. Edit: And the fifth post is my Finished Reading section for full length fan fics/comics/long or multi-parter short stories.

i know this library is for your benefit, but i'd love to hear your thoughts on what you've read so far. quick things like "oh, the plot was really good in this one" or "the characters are hilarious in this one" i'm always looking for new things to read honestly, but i think i'd find something more appealing if i knew what others thought of it first~

I so appreciate you being one of NEW BLOOD's biggest fans. You listed some great fics-a few I am still going to read, when I can read more than a few paragraphs at a time. I see there are a few new ones that look great. Ugh. I see my retinal specialist on Friday, and hopefully he sees reason to do the surgery now rather than later, tho insurance (bad) is a factor since this would eat up any deductible and waiting til Jan might be better with it. Don't know if my eyes will wait that long. I just pray it is just cataracrts and not some hidden malfunction of my eyes. But there is a chance this crappy insurance won't cover it at all. UGh-the state of CT forcing us on the Affordable Care Act exchange has been a medical disaster. We pay pretty much everything out of pocket. They pay very little and keep all we pay in every month. Guess we are subsidizing everyone else and get squat. I see my other doc my glaucoma and cataract specialist the end of Oct. I really miss dabbling in this forum and my last NEW BLOOD story sits unfinished. . . I think I had more fun writing these fics than I did with my own stuff! I hope soon-I will see well enough again to get back to playing in here.

Yes indeed! If I listed them ALL, that would be so long. But New Blood is so interesting! There's a lot of cool things in there which make it such a joy to read. It makes family very important and really shows the minor characters of the books in a new light. Butterflies and Hurricanes is also so well-plotted out. Would have to say that it is one of my favorites that I am currently reading. I just never know what's going to happen.

Not sure if it would help at all, but I can up the size of the font in my fics and posts and use the same color you write in if that might help smooth things out?

Thanks Minted! I saw my retinal doc Friday and he said the cataracts gotta come out. The one in the right eye isn't huge but its getting milky, and in the right spot that interferes with vision by causing a lot of glare. I will be going Nov 5th to my glaucoma/Cataract specialist for a cat evaluation and we'll go from there. I hope by the holidays I'll be all fixed up. But for now, I appreciate the larger fonts for sure, and will read things as my eyes allow. They tire so fast with this foggy glare. But I will be back!

Mm. Seems both are fics contain canon allegiances. I personally try to avoid stories like that because we can't really know how characters would act and respond to things, side characters/rarely seen ones especially. What are your thoughts on how they're written? If you think it's well done, maybe I'll give them a try :3

What are your thoughts on how they're written? If you think it's well done, maybe I'll give them a try :3 XD I tend to really love canon divergence fics, so really my opinions will always be biased. I always enjoy a fic that fleshes out some canon in my mind, since it makes me appreciate how each person sees or interprets any given character. For me, it's a bit like looking into the window of how other people read a story. It might not be my way, but I'm always so enlightened to find out that other people saw a character differently, maybe even in ways I'd never expect. But I wax fangirl. Both fics do a really good job of keeping true to how characters are written in my opinion.
If you want a non-canon related story, if you want a MONSTER of a read, there's Curse by Shadowface or Way of the Wolf by Tuesday which are both really good. Searipple's What is the Sound of Peace is also good for the twists!

Haha. I can understand the appeal of fanfics that take "what-if" routes and change endings and stuff. I love scrolling through Instagram and Facebook and finding character/plot analysis of certain aspects. Avatar the last Airbender has been a huge one for me lately. Harry Potter too.
I think part of it is also I have an aversion to writing them myself. If I ever do fanfics that include canon characters, those canon characters are normally side charies or dead and are mentioned by name/relation alone. I try to use charies that aren't mine as little as possible. So I guess my aversion of "how could I possibly write and make thoughts for this character I know nothing about" turns into "how can anybody else do this and truly be correct?" Of course, I understand the idea that fanfictions aren't necessarily a matter of correct or incorrect, but interpretation. I dunno. I'm rambling. I'll try them before I say no. Lol

I will add my 2 cents as the author of NEW BLOOD. I took that world and introduced my characters into it, and they literally changed that world. It was my intent since in so many instances in the books I thought "Dang they need a huge Maine Coon clan member " or "OH MY GOD JUST tell him/her already!" I hate the stretching out of dopey lies to drive a story LOL. So I brought in my OCs and let them do their thing, and as large Maine Coons are wont to do, they indeed bulled their way into the fray and altered the Clan's reality, while helping out in ways unexpected.
I did a lot of research and reading to make sure I stayed true to the canon characters, the main time lines, and how they would react, and to certain fixed events in time type thing, but other things were fair game.
Writing with canon indeed is far more difficult to do well than writing one's own Universe (have done that in my own work), because even though you alter that world with either an event or new characters, you cannot alter the characters themselves. What alters them is the change of events, and to be truthful some characters needed better treatment! Poor Spiderleg and Purdy just are dead by the next arc with a vanishing act explained away by "he died last leaf bare from green cough" etc. So in NEW BLOOD I gave them both Warrior's deaths.
The "what if" part is fun, and I ran with it. I hope you will give it a go, and let me know on that page what you think. There is a poll that will be up for a while. Right now I am stalled on finishing the last NEW BLOOD tale thanks to cataracts but I expect to be back at it in the near future. I do have a couple of one shots like WHEN CATS FLY and SABOTAGED that might help you step into that world without reading the huge main fic first.
