Cinderflame Summer camp // Open Cinderflame, as always, looked disappointed in everyone else. It was an unattractive feature and didn't earn her many friends, sure, but it was who she was. She liked feeling better than everybody else. It made her feel.. well.. better. She decided to go hunting. Likely wasn't going to be successful, sure, but it would be enjoyable. She exited the camp and left the mountain's shadow only to immediately regret it. It was sweltering hot. She walked, practically melting, to the Pine Grove, deciding that there would be prey and shade. Suddenly, she heard scuffling. She sniffed. Mouse, she thought. She looked over to where she heard it. There it was. She crouched and stalked. Then, she pounced, catching it in her teeth. She didn't deal the killing blow, though, and instead carried it live to just outside of camp, where she released it in between her paws, batting it around, careful to keep it alive.

Snowybeetle - - In Camp - - The summer camp this year had proven to be one of the best choices yet. The mountain behind them cast cool shade across the entirety of the camp almost all hours of the day, and in a year as harsh as this one, nothing could be more valuable. Snowybeetle did her best to operate during the coolest hours of the day, early dawn to dusk. Having such a large thick coat can prove helpful in the winter, but was intolerable during the hotter seasons. The leader did her best not to let the others see how it bothered her, though. With a cursory glance up to the rising sun, she let out a small sigh through her nose and pushed to her paws. It was already this late, and her deputy had not yet sent out patrols, seemed she would have to handle it herself. She hopped up on one of the smooth, flat rocks that dotted their camp, letting her gaze hover over the tired warriors and apprentices that were just rousing from their slumbers. For a brief moment she considered letting them rest more, perhaps putting off their duties for another day and offering BeetleClan a day of respite. But she then remembered the gathering would be held tomorrow night, and she had to make sure her warriors were well fed, and full of energy. There would be no rest for them, not while she was around.
"May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath me for morning assignments." She called out in her deep, authoritative voice. With sharp, silvery eyes she watched as cats scrambled towards her.
Spookypaw - - In Camp - - Spookypaw hadn't slept, of course he hadn't slept, are you crazy? This was his first night with the clan, and apart from the loud snoring and stirring of those in the camp, it was simply the raw fear that something, anything could happen. It didn't matter what. A stray cat could come and murder him. A shooting star could fall down and murder him. A strong wind could send a rock toppling over and on top of him - murdering him. His heart could give out from the sheer fear, in this case he would be murdering himself. It didn't matter what scared him, because all of these things and more did. So when he heard the booming, intimidating voice of their leader spread through the camp, he only shrunk further into his frightened form. Maybe if he didn't move and didn't talk people would think he was a rock and would ignore him... Oh, but wait then someone might sit on him and murder him! Spookypaw scrambled up to all fours and with a bowed head and submissive form, dragged himself outside and along with the group of warriors who had gathered.
Truth be told he had no idea what he was supposed to do here... He had only joined the clans because he was separated from his two legs in a new strange place, and had no idea where he was. It was either joint his group of wild cats, or be stuck in the wilderness to his own devices. He figured there was safety in numbers... But these cats called themselves warriors... Did that mean they went around killing people? What did that even mean? And they ate DEAD THINGS. Spookypaw, needless to say, hadn't eaten a thing in the short time he'd been here. The more he thought about it, the more he thought that he might have been safer just on his own, hiding under a log somewhere...
Spiketuft - - Outside Camp - - Mentions Cinderflame | | Brokenstar Man, they stuck you with the worst duties when you first graduated to a warrior... It had only been a couple nights ago that Spiketuft had shed his old title of apprentice, and gained the sick new title of Warrior. But he was beginning to think he had it cut out easier as a lowly squire. The past three nights he had been sent out for midnight watch, just told to sit around on the outskirts of camp and be look out. It was probably the most boring job in the world, and it was only more of a string since he had to do it all by himself. Luckily, Spiketuft passed the hours working on his rhymes, so at least he was getting something productive out of it. Finally, as the sun was starting to rise, he finally got the go-ahead that he was fit to head back. The handsome Somali tom stretched out his legs, arching his back as he stretched each one individually. His ears swiveled to the sound of paw steps crunching over grass, and his eyes soon raised to look upon the smokey tortoiseshell coat of Cinderflame. She seemed to be batting something around, at first he thought it was a leaf, but then he soon realized it was a mouse. He snickered, he didn't think he had ever seen her play with anything before. Without so much as a second thought he bounded over towards her. "Yo girl, you always play with your food?" He mewed.

Cinderflame Outside of camp // Spiketuft // ๐๐ข๐ค๐ต๐ถ๐ด๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๊ค She kept her face conveying that she thought she was better than everybody else, it was a habit by then, but there was a certain element of enjoyment to it. "Yes,", she replied absentmindedly, "But only when it's still alive." She purred as the mouse attempted to leap over her, and she caught it with one paw, sending it to the ground and stunning it for a moment.
"Not much else to do in this heat, is there?", she conversed, still sounding like she wasn't really paying attention to Spiketuft. She just laid there as the mouse ran away for a moment, then casually got up, walked over to the mouse, picked it up, and brought it back. "Plus, it extends the fun of hunting.", she continued in the same tone. Then, she heard the leader call. "Sounds like the leader wants a meeting.", she meowed. She dealt the killing blow to the mouse and carried it in with her.

Spiketuft - - Outside Camp - - With Cinderblaze | | Brokenstar Spiketuft's whiskers twitched in amusement, though he also felt the hairs along his shoulders stand up as a chill rattled through him. He had never really gotten to know Cinderblaze, but he never would have taken her as the type to play with her food like that. Maybe he just had a weak stomach though. Regardless, he felt thankful when the mouse was killed, his ears swiveling towards the entrance of camp. He hadn't even heard her, man Spiketuft needed some sleep. "I'll catch up, yo." He called after Cinderblaze as she trotted forward. The tom took a moment to compose himself, wiping his tired eyes with a paw and quickly lapping at his chest fur to try to look at least somewhat more presentable. He then shook out his fur and started after the tortoiseshell molly.

Cinderflame She purred her amusement, it being one of the rare occasions that she broke the act of thinking she was better. She briefly looked back to see him licking his chest fur. She hadn't overlooked his shoulder fur standing up, a common reaction to her form of entertainment. She was used to it.
She entered camp and stood beside the rock where the leader was. She noticed a little black cat, walking to the rock, looking as if he wanted to hide. Her face had by then resumed it's usual look, and she was sure it was intimidating. I don't really recognize him. Could he be that one kit that stayed the night? , she thought.

Spiketuft - - In Camp - - With Cinderblaze | | Brokenstar The handsome Somali trotted after Cinderblaze, plopping down beside her and looking up to Snowybeetle. He swept his long tail over his paws where it flicked idly. A quiet chattering rose among those who had gathered, but it seemed Snowybeetle was waiting for the stragglers to pull themselves from the den and join them. Her cold, silvery gaze raked over all of them, mysterious as always. Spiketuft brought his eyes back down to the crowd, spotting the black and white sisters Shadowchaser and Lightwing near the outskirts of the fray, sleep still in their eyes. He then looked over to the stranger that Cinderblaze had been eyeing, that little black fuzz ball. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that kid." Spiketuft spoke up as if he could read Cinderblaze's thoughts. "He's that kitty-pet that begged to join us last night. Can't believe we accepted him, heh. Snowybeetle didn't really seem like the type who lets just anyone in... Apparently he's going to be an apprentice, but he doesn't have a mentor yet. Maybe it'll be me." His tail swished excitedly at that. Of course, it was highly unlikely. He had, after all, only been a warrior for about 3 days. And he barely passed his own apprentice training in the first place. The most he could teach Spookypaw was to hold a beat properly. Spookypaw - - In Camp - - Mentions Cinderblaze | | Brokenstar Ok... So far so good. Maybe it was height, or the fact that his disappearing act was at least somewhat working, but no one seemed to pay Spookypaw any mind. He kept his head down, making sure there are always good distance between him and the next closest person. His tail was tucked under him, his folded ears pressed flat to his head. Most warriors passed right by him to join the larger crowd gathering ahead. He perked up a bit, sitting and curling his tail around his small paws. He let himself glance around, trying to familiarize himself with the sights of his supposed clan mates, as well as the strong smells of the wilderness. That's when he met Cinderblaze's intimidating stare. He locked eyes with her, his pupils growing wide with fear. He shrunk further into himself as she continued to look at him, but he didn't want to be the one to break eye contact first. So the result was the two of them having a staring contest from opposite sides of the camp.

Spookypaw - - In Camp - - With Cinderblaze | | Brokenstar Spookypaw ducked his head, finally breaking eye contact only as Cinderblaze began to walk towards him. He lowered himself so he was chest to the ground, putting his paws over his eyes and tucking in his tail. He looked like a lump of fluffy coal. Oh dear heavens this is it! I know I should have just stuck by myself! What was I thinking waltzing into a place with a gang of cats who sharpen their fangs on BONES! I just want to go home, I just want to go home! He shook like a leaf in harsh wind as Cinderblaze approached, even when she was right beside him he didn't poke his head up or look at her, he just huddled there on the ground and continued to shake.

Spookypaw - - In Camp - - With Cinderblaze | | Brokenstar Spookypaw didn't lift his head up right away, he let her words swim around him for a moment as he tried to dissect if there was any mal-intent behind them. Part of him was screaming that this was a trick and as soon as he would lift his head she would attack him, but another part of him was soothed by her soft voice that seemed worried, and compassionate. He was stiff for a little while more before he slowly lifted up his paws. Bright yellow eyes looked up at Cinderblaze, searching her feverishly. Finally, the small tom spoke up in a shuddery voice, hiccuped by his own panting breath. "Spo-Spooky... Or... Spooky...Paw, I guess..." He still didn't understand what that big scary white shecat, that was apparently the leader, meant when she added the word "paw" to the end of his name. "My name... Used to be just Spo-Spooky..."

Cinderflame "It's nice to meet you, Spookypaw.", she purred. "I hope I get to mentor you.". She sat down next to Spookypaw, part of her usual expression reappearing on her face. "Welcome to Beetleclan, Spookypaw." She then began to focus on Snowybeetle. "You had better pay attention to Snowybeetle, our leader.", she muttered to Spookypaw, indicating the leader, assuming that Spookypaw didn't know her name yet. "She might be announcing your mentor, which is very important."

FALLOWSONG --
Fallowsong was deep in a pleasant dream when a voice cut through her snoozing, and she jolted awake. The brown she-cat lifted her head swiftly, blinking rapidly for a moment as she peered about, looking for the source of what had awoken her. Of course, an instant later she realized it had been Snowybeetle, her clan leader. She yawned wide and extended her front paws in a stretch, before she lifted herself from the nest sheโd made herself in the summer camp and padded out into the open. She blinked at the rising sun and glanced at the members of her clan that had also come at Snowybeetleโs call.
The BeetleClan leaderโs white pelt was quite stark, and made her stand out a bit, but, in Fallowsongโs opinion, no one was more suited to lead the clan. Snowybeetle was fierce and strong and proud, and exemplified the very best of BeetleClan. Currently, the leader was sitting on one of the large, smooth rocks that lined the summer camp. Other warriors and apprentices were gathering; Fallowsong noted Spiketuft, Cinderflame, and the newcomer โ the kitty-pet whoโd joined the clan the night before. What was his name? Spookypaw โ yes, that was it. The poor tom looked as though he was going to quiver himself free of his pelt, he was so nervous. Fallowsong couldnโt sympathize, but she could empathize. It had to be nerve-wracking to enter an entire new world surrounded by faces you didnโt recognize. She gave the little cat a comforting glance, before returning her attention to the leader, mewing a greeting.
โGood morning,โ the brown-she cat greeted, flicking her tail. โDid you sleep well, Snowybeetle?โ

Snowybeetle - - In Camp - - With Fallowsong. Mentions, Riverwind, Acornnose, Tortisepaw, Thornwhisker, Spiketuft, Twitterpaw, Cinderblaze. | | ๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ , little blu โฅ , @wonderfulalexander , Brokenstar , Brownie Snowybeetle's eyes drifted down to the young brown warrior, Fallowsong and a subtle glow lit them. The normally quiet, stone faced leader cracked a small, welcoming smile and polite dip of the head. "Fallowsong," She said in curt greeting. "I slept fine." She said simply. Good old Snowybeetle, as quiet as ever. The enigmatic leader had an estranged relationship with most of her clan mates; not particularly close to any of them, but invaluably served to each of their well being. The large white figure turned her attention back to the cats who had gathered. With a little clear of her throat, the leader lifted up her voice.
"In our deputies absence, I will send out the morning rotation of patrols. If your name is called, speak up if you are unable to perform your task. Otherwise, organize yourselves into the appropriate groups and head out as soon as you can. Riverwind, take Acornnose, and your apprentince, Tortisepaw and go sweep across the peripheral of the MothClan border. Remark our borders, and report any sightings back to me." As she spoke she looked to the grey tom who was to be the leader of the patrol. When Riverwind had first joined BeetleClan, Snowybeetle was a younger leader. When he was just an apprentince, she found herself doubting his loyalty to BeetleClan. But, he has proven himself to be an irreplaceable member to their ranks, a warrior who had gained her upmost respect. So, it was with no hesitation or worry that she sent him to the MothClan border.
"Thornwhisker. I want you to take Spiketuft, Fallowsong, and Twitterpaw to find prey. Try to sweep through the pine grove if you can, prey should be plentiful there." From the crowd an anguished groan belonging to Spiketuft could be heard. Snowybeetle shot her eyes to him, which immediately clammed him up. With an annoyed grunt Snowybeetle returned her attention back to the rest of the crowd.
"And lastly... It's come to my attention that the newest member of our clan has yet to receive a mentor. Spookypaw, please step forward." The white leader set her eyes on the small, timid kitty-pet near the back. He perked up, but then seemed to retract back into himself, frozen stiff. Snowybeetle smiled warmly and beckoned him forward with a slow movement of her tail. With a gulp, the nervous tom slowly began to tip toe his way towards her, quietly shifting through the crowd. Quiet murmurs filled the audience, no doubt there were some of her clan mates that doubted her choice to allow this weak tom into their ranks. But, Snowybeetle never turned down a cat in need. The little cat needed a home, she knew if that if were to be left on his own in the wild, the former kitty-pet would have little chance for survival. With time, and with the right mentor, she was sure he could make a fine addition to their clan. Finally, Spookypaw had reached the flat slab of rock that she was sitting on. He awkwardly leapt his way up, having to scrabble his hind paws to heave himself up. He ungracefully rolled forward, then shot straight up. Snowybeetle's whiskers twitched in amusement.
"Spookypaw, as a member of our clan, you are to be taught everything about the way of BeetleClan life from a mentor. This cat will guide you, teach you how to fight, to hunt, and what it means to be a member of our pack. Cinderblaze, please step forward." Snowybeetle turned her gaze from Spookypaw back down to the crowd, singling out the smokey tortoiseshell molly and beckoning her forward.

Snowybeetle - - With Everyone in Camp - - | | Brokenstar Snowybeetle watched as the pride filled molly marched up to the stone, her ears flicking. Cinderflame was a good warrior, if a bit egotistical. But she seemed to have confidence, which is something it was clear to see that Spookypaw was lacking. It was time that Cinderflame prove to herself, and her clan mates that she could be a mentor. As the tortoiseshell approached, Snowybeetle gave her a meek smile. "Cinderflame, you have served BeetleClan well. We place our trust in you that you may teach Spookypaw, and cultivate him into the fine warrior you've become." She dipped her head and backed up a bit, giving Spookypaw and his new mentor space. Spookypaw looked up to Cinderflame, shaking like a leaf.

Spookypaw - - With Everyone in Camp - - | | Brokenstar The small black tom looked around at the crowd, his tail still tucked tight beneath him. He could feel all of their eyes burning into his pelt. What were they thinking about him... What were they saying? Were they all saying he looked like a great snack? Would one of these warriors gobble him up head first? He was almost too horrified from his own thoughts that he didn't hear Cinderflame. His eyes scanned hers before he finally nodded and slowly leaned up to press his little black nose to hers. After a moment he pulled back, and nearly jumped out of his fur when the crowd began to chant his name. "Spookypaw, Spookypaw, Spookypaw!" Were they... cheering? He poked his head out to look at them, seeing, for the most part, glowing smiles. His hackles lowered, he perked up a bit. In amazement he surveyed the crowd until his eyes landed on Snowybeetle. She smiled, a wistful look to her slate grey eyes. Spookypaw's heart rose in his chest, his tail pulled from underneath him and began to twitch with excitement! Maybe being apart of a clan wasn't going to be so bad.

Thornwhisker- ๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ , little blu โฅ , Brokenstar , Brownie The white-and-brown warrior smiled smugly, smoothly craning his head above the crowd as he heard his name called. He was not surprised, but the mention of leading a small group elated him. "I'll be sure to do a good job of leading them. We'll return soon with enough prey to feed a den of lions!" He chucked at himself. I'll be sure to do a good job. Who was he kidding? He always did a good job- no need to make promises something that everyone knew was already about to happen! He seemed to pay no attention to Spiketuft's groan of annoyance. As he trotted by the younger, rust-colored tom, he placed his tailtip upside Spiketuft's chin. "No need for annoyance, lad. There will be no issue with prey-catching today; I'll be sure of it." He then turned to call to the group. "Come along, everyone! We have lots of business to get down to." He carried himself like a show pony- practically, but still with enough frivolity that it was if he was wearing his ego across his face. "It's a lovely morning- perfect for prey hunting. And I know the perfect spot in the pines to do it..."
