What are your top 5 saddest warrior cat deaths in your opinion? Here are mine:
5. Lightning Tail's death. He was one of my favs in DoTc, and the final dialogue exchanged between him and Thunderstar was really sad for me. I felt really bad when Thunderstar came back and saw his best friend dead. It was also really cute how Thunderstar named his daughter after him.
4. Badgerfang's death. I remember reading about him being so excited to please Brokenstar (bless his soul) and go into battle, knowing that he wasn't going to come back home alive. Him wanting to be named after Flintfang before he died was so heartfelt ;-;
3. Firestar's death. Ik it's probably a generic choice but he's the cat that introduced us to Warriors. His spirit leaving with the other StarClan cats was emotional. I feel like his death marked the end of OG Warriors :,)
2. Stonefur's death. It was really sad the way that he went out. His leader basically gave Tigerstar permission to kill him and he gave his life to protect Featherpaw and Stormpaw, who were practically kits just leaving the nursery. His heroic sacrifice hit me hard.
1. Leafpool's death. Don't get me wrong SqH was a disaster, but when it came time for Squirrelflight to say goodbye to Leafpool, I felt my childhood getting crushed ;-; I grew up with TNP and it has a special place in my heart. Seeing the flashback sequence of Squirrelflight and Leafpool growing up and her saying goodbye had me teary eyed. That scene for me gave SqH some justice.

I agree with a lot of cats on everyone's lists, also...
1. Mosspaw - this poor three moon old was killed by two kits
2. Jackdaw's Cry - he and Falling Feather (his own sister) killed each other, and when it came time for everyone to grieve, his kits grieved their mother Hawk Swoop, but not him.
3. Littlecloud - the way he was treated in his last days was just terrible
4. Seedpaw - this cat dies to save her sister's life, and no one even names their kit after her? Not even Lilyheart? This was the time to name kits after cats who had died, like Honeyfern, Ferncloud, Sorreltail, etc, but no one thought to name one after Seedpaw, Leafshade could have been Seedshade? Seedsomething! Seedpaw deserved better.
5. Sandgorse - when he died, tunneling died along with him

Badgerfang's made me cry from hell and back and me to expel Brokenstar to the depths of the Dark Forest
Firestar's the original hero of all warrior cats dying was a waterworks moment for me and the Sandstorm "I told you not to waste your last life dialogue was maddening for me

5.) Yellowfang. This was back before her character was ruined in StarClan. There is something so heartbreaking about her dying with Fireheart at her side, terrified that she won't be accepted into StarClan due to her breaking the code. Her death coupled with her confirmation in StarClan in A Dangerous Path makes it all so bittersweet.
4.) Frostfur, Speckletail, Loudbelly, and Shadepelt. This one's kind of cheating, since it's four characters grouped into one. I think the fact that they stayed behind because they thought they were too old to handle such change is just really sad. We don't really know how long they lived for, or what killed them in the end, and I think that saddens me too because I would hate to imagine the possibilities. I really wish they came along, like some of the elders chose to do. It's just sad to think about.
3.) Gorsepaw. The little kit that Firestar carried home being slain so indiscriminately is honestly sort of nightmare fuel. I love that Firestar himself even questions if Tigerstar had somehow known about his relationship with Gorsepaw. In all likelihood, Tigerstar probably didn't know. He just saw a young cat in the WindClan crowd and thought that he would be a good choice to terrify WindClan into submission. But it's just so awful to think about.
2.) Stonefur. He was a loyal RiverClan warrior all his life, and once the secret of his birth comes out, Leopardstar turns on him. She apparently thought he was a good choice for deputy prior to this. But it didn't matter anymore. His torture alongside Mistyfoot, Stormpaw, and Featherpaw, and his eventual heroic sacrifice, it's all too much. RiverClan should have just driven out Leopardstar after this; how could they ever feel safe knowing that she sentenced their two young cats and one loyal warrior to death? It's so incredible that this all took place so long ago in TDH, yet it's still widely talked about. Stonefur's sacrifice is probably one of the most heroic things to ever take place in this series. And we never even saw him in StarClan until Mistystar's Omen. The Erins themselves didn't value his sacrifice, much like Leopardstar never seemed to.
1.) Snowkit. I can't believe you've done this. It's the perfect storm of absolutely terrible, heartbreaking, and in some ways infuriating. I know Snowkit is mainly just a plot device, but Snowkit's situation hits home for me. Brackenfur and Speckletail's determination for him to become an apprentice was inspiring, and I honestly thought we would get a plotline with a Deaf warrior. And then he gets taken by a hawk. And his mother and the rest of the Clan is forced to listen to his cries as he's being carried away. How much more morbid can you possibly get? I still can't get over his death, and I hope that one day, we might actually get to see a Deaf cat in the series who lives to adulthood.

Whitestorm's-It is sad that he died such a fricking bloody death but no one remembers him. Sandstorm's-This had way too much drama behind it but the thing that made it so sad is the fact that Alderheart felt like he had murdered his own grandma. Also she was the last firey character that managed to be sharp but not annyoing or whinging *coughs and points to Sqirrelflight.* Leafpool's-Jayfeather being a jerk over her dead body made me want to rip Jayfeather and SqH to atomic pieces.

5. Leafpool's death. I never read the book she died in, so when she wasn't there in TBC I was surprised.
4. Ravenpaw's death. Again, I haven't read Ravenpaw's Farwell, however when I heard that he died. I was struck cold. He was one of the original three main cats; Firestar, Graystripe, and Ravenpaw.
3. Sandstorm's death. I knew as soon as she was coming along with the others to find Skyclan that she was probably going to die on that trip. Nevertheless it still hurt. At least her and Firestar were reunited in Starclan.
2. Briarlight's death. Briarlight was and will always be my favorite character. She's so positive and won't ever give up. I felt the pain deep down in my gut when she died, and I remember thinking: "Why are my favorite characters always the ones to die first?"
1. Firestar's death. I know this is probably one of the most common choices but that final battle between Tigerstar and Firestar, I don't know it was just extremely sad knowing Firestar; The OG, the one everyone has been rooting for, for as long as he existed, was gone, truly gone.

For sure, Snowkit was adorable and had so much potential ;-; I always wanted a short story of what happened to the elders that stayed behind, like what they did with Bright Stream's death, or even a novella, that would be a tear tale

Ravenpaw's Farewell is definitely an emotional read, I totally recommend it. As for Squirrelflight's Hope, it sends Leafpool off pretty well, but that's the only good thing I could say about it. Briarlight's death was pretty tragic, she always saw the bright side of everything. At least she had a long life for her condition and she gets to run in Starclan all she wants now

Same here, I felt like she would be around forever tho as for her death I think her going out trying and save Moonlight and her kits was pretty meaningful, even if it was the Sisters of all cats lol. At least the clans respected her sacrifice

5. Bluestar. Even if I disliked what she did when she started going crazy I still felt like crying when she was dying and asked her kits to forgive her.
4. Sandstorm. I didn't read the book but hearing how she died and thinking about how she isn't able to get buried with her clanmates just breaks my heart.
3. Firestar. My favorite character just had to die QwQ. Even if I knew his death was coming it still broke my heart.
2. Mosskit. The death scene of Bluestar trying to wake them up only to realize that they were dead broke me and made me cry.
1. Leafpool. Even if I haven't read the book at all. I love her character a lot and I grew up with her. Hearing that she's dead broke my heart.

1. Gray Wing: He deserved so much more in his life, so much. And knowing he held on long enough to see his kits again actually genuinely moved me. I don't think a death could be as well-written as his. 2. Leafpool: I used to not care for her, but over time I came to respect her again and even find her likable. So it felt like a blow to the heart when she suddenly passed, and then finding out how she died was even more saddening. 3. Cinderpelt: She died protecting a queen and her kits, despite knowing her fate. She did everything he could until her last breath. She served as a medicine cat but died a warrior that day. 4. Silverstream/Honeyfern: Both of them had their whole lives ahead of them and then just like that it was crueely snatched away. Honeryfern's last words are forever burned in my mind, and it's horrifyingly sad. While Silverstream's last words were horribly saddening and hard to even get through. 5. Sandstorm: Although I personally don't care for Sandstorm, I found her more charming as an elder and her relationship with Alderheart was sweet. I actually felt moved by how encouraging she was toward Alderheart, and it was pretty saddening to see him try so hard to save her, and then be wracked with guilt over her death.

1) Badgerfang - I know everyone brings this death up as one of the most tragic to the point that it's become a real basic thing to say, but I don't even care. We all know that his death was way too soon and completely needless due to Brokenstar's tyranny, and his eagerness to do everything right and become a warrior just adds to my heartbreak.
2) Mosskit - Bluestar's Prophecy will always be my favorite SE because I can distinctly remember being 9 years old and getting my hands on this book and just being completely swept away in her arc. Getting things from her point of view, it was so awful knowing how much she loved her kits and wanted to do what was best for them and for Clan simultaneously. For Mosskit to not make it to see her father in RiverClan was just not fair.
3) Gorsepaw - This one hits hard for the same reasons people have said above. Fireheart and Morningflower did everything they could to protect Gorsepaw when he was a kit coming home from WindClan's exile, and even once WindClan was safe Fireheart continued to care about Gorsepaw's training and advancement. His death came way too soon and for such cruel, needless reasons. Seeing Morningflower later ruthlessly tearing apart BloodClan while crying Gorsepaw's name was the peak point for me that really made me cry at this one.
4) Swiftpaw - Obviously there is a theme here of me choosing young cats who died way too soon. I felt like Swiftpaw's death was unfair for a lot of reasons. For one, he didn't have much screen time in the books and all we really knew about him was that he was Longtail's apprentice and Bluestar refused to make him a warrior even though he more than deserved it. We also knew that he and Cloudtail didn't really get along (is it canon that they were in a love triangle with Brightpaw or is that headcanon?) but had Swiftpaw lived to be a warrior I'm sure he and Cloudtail would've moved past this. Brightheart may have even decided she wanted Swiftpaw instead of Cloudtail and the Clan would've been very different, but we lost all of that potential because of Bluestar being hard-headed. He wanted nothing more than to prove himself to his Clan and he lost his life so violently because of it.
5) Sootfur - I never see anyone talk about this one but it still gets me to this day. I know there were a lot of deaths during the badger attack and Sootfur was far from a main character, but his was so heartbreaking to me. I forget which cats were with him, but they were trying to help him climb the walls to safety and his legs were broken so he couldn't get up. He made it partway with his front legs before he fell and a badger got him ultimately. I'm not even sure if he would've been an active Warrior again had he survived with his broken legs, but he still could've been part of the clan like Briarlight, and his death was so violent and painful.

5 ) Sandstorm - the fact that she died right next to her grandson is heartbreaking. At least she got reunited with Fireheart.
4 ) Cinderpelt - the way she died was selfless and miserable at the same time. Her apprentice runs away and then dies a few minutes later.
3 ) Seedpaw - Brackenfur's reaction, guys.
2 ) Snowkit - born deaf and swooped away by a hawk in front of his own MOTHER.
1 ) Gray Wing - he deserved much better than his jerk of a brother.
