y'know Crowfeather did literally nothing to raise Breezepelt so Nightcloud had no choice but to coddle him to make up for thst absence nightcloud also had a choice to be a better parent. she didnt have to coddle him to make up for his absence. thats not healthy. everyone has a choice for their actions. nightcloud chose to do this. That is also true. Nightcloud chose the wrong answer to her dilemma

It's not healthy BUT I feel for Nightcloud. She had three kits in that litter and the other two died. That must have been devastating for her, so I understand WHY she is overprotective If Breezepelt dies soon, I think she'll rip Crowfeather to pieces in blindd rage lol

all ppl are at fault. nightcloud is not innocent. crowfeather treated nightcloud like shit and influenced his abusive behavior onto her, which likely triggered her to being abusive herself. and she has shown to be a shit example as a parent by physically abusing crowfeather and ignoring her sons distress RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. coddling your children isnt healthy. acting aggressive isnt a good example. getting jealous because crowfeather is talking to someone isnt healthy. crowfeather was absent to breezepelt and ignored him. nightcloud gives off bad examples to her son. why are ppl saying shes the better parent? both parents are shitty. nobody is "better than the other parent". not excusing his actions, but no wonder breezepelt is messed up. he always had bad influences in his life. nobody ever told him the right way to fix his shit, because he had two shitty parents who didnt know how to raise their son correctly.
edit: again, im not excusing breezepelts actions and im aware hes capable of making his own choices. my problem is that ppl blame one parent for breezepelts behavior instead of looking at both sides. all ppl are at fault.

This is what I'm trying to say, I'm not saying that her actions are excusable, but I can understand why she is how she is. I just think the whole family is super flawed and caused way too much grief and were super toxic to each other. I kind of love them because all of their flaws. Overall, I'm happy they've all moved on and realized separation is healthier (in the case of Night and Crow)

The woobification of Nightcloud and Breezepelt in the fandom is kind of tiring. Moreso Breezepelt, I agree with Skypaw about some fans acting like he can't make his own decisions as an adult and all the shit he's done is NightCrow's fault alone. >.>

Yeah, true, I always forget that Lionblaze is Crowfeather's son as well lol Lol but they are so not alike I think that Lionblz is Brambleson Agreed, though, Bramblestar was the one who raised Lionblaze, and I think Lionblaze spent most the most time with Bramblestar, compared to his siblings, since Jayfeather was around Leafpool a lot, so it makes sense lol

Honestly? All three had their own issues. Not a single one is innocent. While Crow and Night's actions ruined Breezepelt, the choice to attack Poppyfrost, Jayfeather, and going against the clans was Breezepelt's.

Her "darkside"? I guess, I think she def gets from Crowfeather, because she and Breezepelt seem to react in the same way with their anger.

Her parenting isn't healthy, but it is understandable. I just wish that Nightcloud, or SOMEONE, had taught Breezepelt the different between right and wrong though. Could have prevented a lot. ("Hey Breezekit, listen up, don't join the DF, okay? That isn't good")

As for my opinion, Nightcloud coddled Breezepelt and that is also bad parenting. It may not be abusive, but coddling doesn't allow Breezepelt to be his own cat or see that he could be wrong. The only time he could really grow as a character was when Nightcloud was gone from Windclan for a good while.
I understand why she coddled him, being a helicopter parent and all, but that doesn't make it okay either. I don't dislike her for it, but I find her severely overrated as well with the fandom woobifying her to demonize Crowfeather who was confirmed to try, had it not been for Nightcloud. Crowfeather couldn't be much of a father to Breezepelt's early life because Nightcloud was overprotective and thus that led to him growing distant and resenting their close bond because he wasn't allowed to be part of it. I remember when he dug Breezepelt out of the dirt that he and Lionpaw fell into and Nightcloud wouldn't let him carry him. I get she was scared but that was his son too. It doesn't help that she made Breezepelt resent his father either, nor could she keep a lid on her temper whenever leafpool was even a yard away because whenever there's Crow Night Breeze drama, Leafpool is ALWAYS a factor in it and is always in the picture somewhere.
Anyways Nightcloud was a bad parent for her coddling. Even being an absolutely overbearing parent is bad parenting, probably as much as the latter end but just in a different flavor. It's no wonder Breezepelt's younger time was so screwed up and stayed that way until his parents could get a better handle on their relationship somehow. They're decent now, but your upbringing stays with you forever.

Everyone keeps saying she coddled Breezepelt, yet the only so-called examples of that were when his own father had little faith in him and she tried to defend her son. Wow, a mother chiding her husband to give her son a chance and the benefit of the doubt? Shock. As for the so-called trash-talking, Crowfeather claims this to deflect blame from himself for how Breezepelt turned out, and it's also mentioned by Rock in a guide book. Yet people think this is set in stone when canonly we never see this happen, and Rock is known to be an unreliable narrator. Crookedstar quite literally helicoptered Silverstream and yet I never see anyone hate him so vehemently as they do Nightcloud for how Silverstream turned out. Honestly the amount of hatred Nightcloud gained over the years really comes up to either people blaming her for how Breezepelt turned out (or just giving birth to him at all) because apparently her trying to make up for the absence of Crowfeather made her the worse parent despite the other one literally neglecting him. Or because of LeafCrow, which was insanely popular, and still is, and people hated Nightcloud for being the "other woman" in that situation and consequently coming between LeafCrow. Unfortunately there's no win-win situation for Nightcloud as a character and people will continuously hate on her regardless of how much more mature and progressive her character developed over time.

I...kind of find it funny how I keep hearing how the fandom “babies” and “woobifies” Nightcloud, yet it seems to me that people will do anything to drag her into conversations that address the issues Crowfeather brought to the table. I have seen w a y more people defend Crowfeather’s garbage actions because “uwu he’s bad at emotions”. If anything, the fandom babies and woobifies him, and not Nightcloud, who constantly gets called out for her flaws.

Yes. It is unhealthy parenting.
Coddling your child is the way a parent basically predicts the failure of a child. She didn't believe Breezepelt could handle himself or grow up. She prevented him from learning and growing. She made it seem like Breezepelt could do no wrong and everything he did had good intentions. Add to the fact that she was the only active parent in Breezepelt's life, he lives with this mentality. If Crowfeather was more involved, he might've saved him. But he didn't.
In conclusion, both were horrible parents.

idk why people are making claims about nightcloud getting too much/not enough shit for her parenting. seems a pretty mixed bag to me. can't we all agree that all three contributed to their family issues? crowfeather was neglectful, nightcloud passed her resent to her son, and breezepelt internalized and projected his bitterness onto others. case closed.
