I think Thornclaw is a better choice for deputy than Lionblaze is, but I don't think either of them should be deputy.
EDIT: Nevermind. Thinking on it more Thornclaw should stay a warrior. I stand by what I said about neither of them being deputy though.

Him coming up with baseless conspiracy theories does not endear me to him as deputy.

No way, Thornclaw has ALWAYS been an aggressive jerk, not to mention, he's not too bright, he trained in the Dark Forest, knowing FULL well who these cats were, and what kind of crimes they committed, him training there to protect Blossomfall, as some people theorize, makes him look even more dumb, because instead of telling someone, or talking her out of it, he's just enabling her. Thornclaw was also one of the cats who was super against healing Sunrise, which is also a strike against him. I wouldn't want a deputy, who can look at a dying cat, and be like, "She isn't ThunderClan, so she doesn't matter." Thornclaw is trash, through and through.

are ppl still complaining about lion having a deputy status? hes the best choice. he has way more experienced, hes learning to get over things (forgiveness has been his best character growth lately), dealt with emotional and physical drama and learned from it, went to a lot of journeys in his life, hes really strong and was one of the first to forgive squirrelflight and understand her about the lies. he has gone through so much growth but ppl hold onto the shit he did about heather and still think hes ~evil and wanted to kill her~ and for some reason ppl hold onto him for "killing" russetfur. he threw her off, thats it.
lionblaze has a lot more experience, lots of growth, but ppl dont want him bc hes "a big meanie head" to their favorite windclan kitty and killed a couple of cats.
i wouldn't mind thornclaw as deputy, but lionblaze is the better choice due to his past experiences and growth
fyi this isnt directed at anyone, im sick of the lion hate and the double standards. theyre ok if their favorite character kills someone, but if lion does it by pure accident, its suddenly the worst thing ever and he doesnt deserve deputy!!!!!111!!!!

I feel like people are giving him way too much credit. He made the obvious point of Firestar's kin having power. That's it. He's also too aggressive and then of course, there's the whole Sunrise thing. Lionblaze was really the best choice, at least at the time.

No. Just because he says he should be deputy doesn't mean he should actually be. If it was that easy, Tigerstar would've been deputy earlier instead of being passed over for Lionheart or something. Thornclaw's xenophobia would be insufferable to see endorsed as leader after Firestar's reign and he can be quite an ass, the sample shows that with how much of one he's being to Squirrelflight and Lionblaze. He looked at a dying cat and agreed to waiting until they got a sign from god to heal her, not caring that Sunrise was bleeding out in the ground in front of him and would've died then and there. Sorry, but I wouldn't want that as leader. I'll take Lionblaze over that easily.

While he has some qualifications for the position, his trash-talking and treatment of Squirrelflight and Lionblaze in the GV excerpt really just told me he doesn't deserve it. Think what you will of Squirrelflight, but she doesn't deserve the shit she's getting from ThunderClan right now. It really wouldn't help her at all if her deputy was talking nonsense about her as well (especially blaming her for things that aren't even her fault). Calling out the nepotism was great and all, but he was a massive jerk to Lionblaze about it, who was simply trying to do his job as the acting deputy.
We already know why Squirrelflight chose Lionblaze as her deputy. He's among the very few cats she can trust as of current events, and was arguably the best choice ThunderClan had. Thornclaw isn't that. The guy even decides to leave the Clan to figure out if he really wants to stay there.

Nope. Squilf needs a deputy she can trust, and Lionblaze is one of the few cats who she can.

Why would Squirrelflight choose Thornclaw who wants to pull a Scorchfur on her after her whole clan turned against each other? She needs someone she can trust. It would have been interesting to see Graystripe temporarily come out of retirement to help her since a senior warrior is usually a new leader's first deputy

All loyal who would stand up for her I don't think a deputy's qualifications should be based on who would stand up for her and who's more likable to her. Leafstar and Sharpclaw were a good example that even if a Leader/Deputy have different morals they can still function brilliantly. Warriors shouldn't kiss up to a leader and expect compensation in a position, also warriors shouldn't expect easy treatment just because they're related to a leader as well. And vice versa, leaders shouldn't just pick based off shallow reasons, nor because of family relations tbh.

There's a difference between Sharpclaw disagreeing with Leafstar and Thornclaw going on a senseless ramble like he's grandpa after listening to a little too much Ancient Aliens. The implication that Squirrelflight picked off of family relations is meritless. A far more obvious reason is that Lionblaze can be confirmed as loyal by her given the Impostor was clearly against him. And that's another issue. Yes, during a time of crisis where the loyalty of clanmates is in question and there was a near civil war, that is exactly the time to have someone stand up for the leader. Otherwise you risk having the barely prevented war from breaking out as they split into opposing factions.

I wasn't saying that Thornclaw should have been chosen nor was I saying that Squirrelflight chose based off family bias. I was literally speaking about them from general points....And when I said leaders shouldn't base their decisions on whom they think will stand up for them, I meant in a "Yes Men." Fashion similar to Bumble and Berry's behavior when they were competing for Squirrel's position. I personally however don't think either Thornclaw or Lionblaze should be deputy. That is my opinion and not a general point.

This isn't a standard deputy choice Unfortunately it isn't a standard deputy choice, but because of that it comes off as bias in canon to the other cats. It's honestly also annoying to some readers as well, because Thornclaw's words do have some truth. At the rate things are going we really will get Lionstar then he's just going to choose either his own kin again or his own apprentice, and so on. A lot of people already saw Lionblaze coming as a choice ever since the arc started and Squirrel's position was put on the stake. The worst case scenario is both Squirrel and Bramble dies, or one dies and the other retires and Lionblaze shoots straight to leadership. I honestly don't want to have to read through another BrS Bramble + Onestar situation with character regression for Lionblaze, especially when he's barely has any character to begin with. Both Bramble and Squirrel are too old for leadership, and if Bramble does return back to being leader, either Squirrel will be pushed back to deputy and Lion is demoted or she just doesn't get her position back. Like I see people talking about the whole notion Thornclaw made in the first place, but is anyone actually looking at how these choices can affect characters and the clan as a whole in the long run? The current higher up positions in ThunderClan is a mess, and yet not a single one of them right now, ironically, isn't closely related to Firestar somehow. Because as far as I'm seeing right now, Squirrel has an inner circle of cats she can trust; her own two sons and her grandchild, yet this feels like a one-way street when it comes to the rest of the clan. Like she expects the rest of them to put their trust in her and her family while they run the clan into another generation. Especially when he own mate almost led them all to their own doom, and she and her family were all labeled as traitors simply for being related to her in the first place. As much as people don't want to bring up the relevancy of relations in this, it's kinda already there because of the overall arc plot in the first place. But that's just my opinion and how I'm seeing things right now.

Lionblaze knows the difference between good and evil at this point and doesn’t seem like he is going to switch the sides around anytime soon...

No. Thornclaw is old as dirt. If his littermates are literal elders then he should be too. He’s also too hot headed and opinionated. I think Lionblaze is the absolute best choice. He’s a top tier fighter-if not ThunderClans best, he’s mature enough for the position, and he’s trustworthy which is a trait Squirrelflight absolutely needs in a deputy right now.

I know you're not a big fan of him, but Stemleaf COULD have had potential and wasn't related to Firestar at all. I think Rosepetal was wasted potential too. I think Flipclaw would be fun, but Firestar kin. Bristlefrost? Firestar kin. Spotfur? Firestar kin. At this point, who isn't related to Firestar that has the character development? 90% of the clan is related to him at this point. I'm hoping the change in forbidden mates will help get new blood into this clan

Not in my opinion. Lionblaze gets needless hate. He's matured quite a bit since POT and while his character arc/development didn't reach its full potential (which is the writers' fault, not his LOL), there's no reason why he isn't qualified.
