Welcome
The wind whips against your face, the view before you a blanket of white. Only a few moments ago, your view had been unobstructed and the blizzard had hit so unexpectedly, you hadn’t had time to find a place to shelter. Your legs shake under your weight, exhausted from your long journey up the mountain, but the rapidly dropping temperature forces you to continue your journey forwards.
At this point you are pushing blindly through the swirling snow, your nose numb from the bitter cold that slaps your face and cuts through your coat. Your mind is filled with nothing but the ever-growing reminder that if you don’t find shelter soon your remains will become a warning for travelers not to succumb to the same cruel fate. This was never the way you expected yourself to die - well not many cats dream up the “perfect way to die”, but this was far from it.
With your mind preoccupied with thoughts of your demise you suddenly feel the ground beneath your paws begin to rapidly give way. Your eyes widen as you realize you’d now be dying by falling off of a mountain rather than freezing to death, but it is at this moment that a pair of strong jaws clamp around your scruff and pull you backwards and away from the crumbling edge. Great - now you would be dying at the maws of some cat killing predator. But surprisingly the killing blow never falls and your eyes narrow trying to peer through the flurry of snow. You are able to make the silhouette of two figures, one of which began to speak, “What were you thinking? Such a mouse-brain trying to climb the mountain during a storm like this. You wouldn’t have lasted a day up here on your own.” A thwack cut through the howling wind as the figure who had spoken first was cuffed sharply by the other, “Geeze Galestorm, I was just letting them know how fur-brained they must be for not paying attention to the change in weather, even a blind kit could have seen that storm coming. They should be thanking us for saving them from falling off the edge. What are you doing out here anyway?”
As the storm reached a lull you were now able to make out the forms of two thick-furred cats standing before you. So these were your saviors. As their attention turned to you both waiting on your response, you found yourself rather tongue-tied in the presence of these mysterious mountain-dwelling cats and you couldn’t help but wonder what kind of crazy cats would make their home in a territory as treacherous as this one. As you opened your mouth to give your answer you were disappointed with how terrified your voice sounded, “W-who are you?”
“We’re CrestClan. We have made our home on this mountain and if you wish to survive the night I suggest you follow us.” It was the second cat’s turn to speak as his gaze moved skywards, “This storm will not die down any time soon. Once you arrive in camp Weaselstar and the elders will decide what to do with you.” Both cats turn and begin to disappear into the snow.
Now it is time for you to decide the path your paws will tread. Do you follow and seek shelter with CrestClan or do you dare to brave the storm yourself? The choice is yours. ❆❆❆ About The Clan CrestClan prides themselves in their ability to adapt to whatever the mountain throws at it. With their thick fur and thick paw pads, they can withstand the cold. Their powerful legs can propel them from one ledge to another and can stand strong against the howling winds.
Though CrestClan has an amicable enough relationship with their neighbouring clans, SunClan and HailClan, they tend to think of themselves as the better, stronger clan and tend to act haughty and arrogant around the other clans. They take pride knowing that they are closer to their ancestors than the other two clans thanks to their proximity to the sky.
The majority of CrestClan cats have lighter or more natural coloured pelts such as browns, blacks, greys, as well as some lighter pelts. ❆❆❆

Climate
Season Newleaf
Seasonal Weather During Newleaf the sun is beginning to melt the snow up on the mountains and the flowers are blooming. Prey is becoming more plentiful as Newleaf continues onward. Predators such as bears or mountain lions are much more dangerous during this season as they have young ones that they are protecting so clanmates are encouraged to proceed with caution. ❆❆❆ Territory
The Two-Sisters Peaks - Two mountain peaks with a valley in between makes up the stretch of land CrestClan lives in, although they primarily live and hunt on one peak and the valley, the other peak being home to Starpeak- the sacred place where the clans go to speak with their ancestors. The valley teems with life, a stark contrast to the peaks, with its forests, meadows, lakes, and rivers. A variety of creatures live in this vast, varied world. From the pika, marmots, weasels, and other small mammals ranging from the base to the treeline, to the goats and sheep living closer to the peaks. Bears, lynx, lions, and foxes prowl the slopes for food while eagles, hawks, and condors take to the skies, waiting to swoop down on their prey.
From the glacier at the top of one peak, a river snakes its way through the territory until it falls off a waterfall and into a lake in the valley. This is a great opportunity to catch fish though cats should be careful as some places in the river have dangerous undertows that could sweep even the most skilled swimmer away. As this river is a major water source, there are plenty of opportunities to catch prey coming to take a drink but should always be wary of predators who also stop for an icy drink.
Frozen Lake Cascades - Frozen for half of the year the waterfall dumps into a lake from a great height. This is a beautiful space, couples often come here to admire the view. The lake is a great place for fishing, and catching other various prey such as small rodents, weasels, and beavers (catching a beaver requires a team of hunters). Cats should be wary of predators such as beavers, mountain lions, bears, and lynx who come around for a meal and a drink from the lake. Apprentices are not permitted to walk across the frozen lake until it has been examined for safety and they must be accompanied by a guard. Guards must cross in pairs.
Tall Forest - Thick coniferous forest running down the lower three-quarters of the mountain with some sprinkling of birch, pine, cedar, and aspen trees. Many small rodents and birds can be caught here. Dangerous animals such as lynx and foxes make their home here.
Quiet Aspen Grove - A grove of aspen trees. Some prey can be caught here but mostly cats just come here to enjoy the serene atmosphere. In Leaffall the trees don beautiful golden leaves.
Starpeak - On the taller of the Two-Sisters, across the valley from the peak Crestclan makes its home. This is where the clans come to speak with StarClan. The trail up the mountain is long and steep, making cats stop for breaks. Even for CrestClan who, out of the three clans, live closest to the peak, the journey can easily take a full days’ trip. Near the top is a twisted pine, one of the only trees around. This pine sits beside a cave, the inside covered in moss and ice.
Training Area - Located in the forest, this small meadow is used to train. It has a spongy floor that makes impacts painless and a nearby rockpile is great for practicing hunting in the rocky peaks.
Twoleg Nests - Newleaf and Greenleaf bring twolegs, walking the forests, often bringing dogs with them. A ring of five wooden nests are often inhabited by various twolegs who come and go. These cabins are avoided by cats during these active seasons but in Leafbare they can hunt the mice that take refuge in the nests, away from the bitter winds.
Wildflower Field - Most beautiful in Newleaf and Greenleaf, this field filled with wildflowers is popular among the young couples in the clan.
Mountain Lion Den - Not far from camp, a bit higher up the peak, lives a mountain lion. This den is almost always inhabited, leading the clan cats to believe it is passed down from generation to generation. It is forbidden to go near the den as clan rules dictate attacking a mountain lion is forbidden except in self-defense.
Borders - Both SunClan and HailClan are located at the base of the mountain. The main river from the glacier cuts through the CrestClan territory and empties into the gorge that lies between the two clans, by the time it reaches the gorge the river has dropped down to a slow trickle. The bottom of the gorge is considered neutral ground between the three clans even outside of the Full Moon Peace.
Camp CrestClan has made their home in the side of the smaller of the two peaks, their cave resting about halfway between the peak and the forestline. Theirs is one of the larger caves on the mountain but it would be difficult to tell that from the entrance. The short tunnel leading into the cave has a smaller opening only wide enough for cats to walk two across and some of the taller cats might have to duck slightly as they go through. The tunnel opens into a large cavern which is where most of the clan can be found mingling during the day. Stalactites hang from the ceiling and stalagmites can be found protruding from the floor.
The Chief's Den - A fallen rock that leans against the cavern’s wall creates the borders of the leader’s den. It is by no means a large den, but it is a comfy space that offers privacy.
Aids of the Anceint’s Den - Both the Paws of the Ancients and the Voice of the Ancients dwell together within the same den. It can be found off to the right of the main cavern in a smaller cave off to the side. The den has enough space to house both Aids as well as their Initiates and a pawful of sick cats. Within the walls are small grooves and natural shelves that can be used to store herbs or other necessities.
The Nursery - The nursery can be found tucked in the far back of the main cavern. As the cavern nears the end it narrows once again into a tunnel that opens up into a smaller den shaped cave. It is a decently sized den with enough room for multiple Queens and their litters to rest comfortably and it is the most naturally defended den within the cavern.
Guard’s and Initiate’s Den - Both the Guard’s and Initiates make their dens throughout the cavern rather than in set dens. There are different layers of tiered rock within the cavern that create space for many nests to be formed.
Elder’s Den - The elders are held in high regard so it is understandable that their den would be the most luxurious. Their nests are hidden in a small alcove that has been covered with some pine branches to create privacy and the entirety of the rock in their den has been covered by moss and feathers in order to make it as comfortable as possible. ❆❆❆

Rules
Please follow the forum rules at all times.
I know it is a lot to take in but do your best to read as much of the front page as you can. This clan is run a tad differently than most and I don’t want anyone feeling lost.
I know we all have lives outside of the forums, I’m currently working two jobs and about to go into university so I completely get it, but if you are going to be inactive for an extended period of time just let me know. If you leave without a warning your characters will be held for 3 weeks before they are removed, but we can always talk about adding them back if you choose to return.
As I mentioned before, my life is pretty busy outside of the forums so please be patient with me. I will do my best to respond on a timely basis. I will try to update the front page at least every two weeks, so if I have given the all clear for your characters but haven’t added them to the front don’t panic, they are still a part of our family. If there is anything important you need to ask me, feel free to pm me as I will probably be able to see that a tad sooner.
No God-modding whatsoever- always get permission before roleplaying or harming someone else's character, please no spotlighting as well. An exciting part of having a clan like this is there are no solo main characters but rather, each cat is the main character of their own stories.
Characters must have detailed biographies. At least three sentences of decent length for both description and personality (that’s six altogether). Please keep characters realistic and do not make them perfect. Character flaws are fun, don’t be afraid to lean into them!
No spam! This means advertising, trolling, etc.. You can come in and ask someone to go to another thread but only post once and be polite. Members of the clan may advertise threads but only after asking me politely in pm. We just don’t want the thread getting bogged down.
I encourage members to chat but please remember to be respectful. If I see repeated disrespect of any kind (intentional exclusion, bullying, rudeness, etc.) you will receive a warning, and if it continues you will be asked to leave. When chatting, be sure to make it clear that what you are saying is OOC.
Keep all mature content grandma-friendly and not heavily detailed. Don’t be afraid to skip if needed.
Nothing from this page may be used without permission. This includes artwork, storylines, information, and characters.
While this is not a super literate roleplay, I ask that you use correct grammar when roleplaying and try to write at least a couple sentences. I know writers block happens to us all, but just try to give your partners something to go off of. No cursing in or out of character unless it's a fake curse like "Fiddlesticks".
If you have ideas for a plot feel free to pm me about it. Don't be afraid to make mini-plots with other members but if it's something that will involve a big chunk of the clan, cats joining the clan, or anything that might have a big impact, please go ahead and ask me first.
Please don't be upset if I ask you to change something in your form. I'm sorry if it's a problem and I'm not trying to be mean but I like to keep things accurate and fitting for the roleplay. Forms may be edited slightly when adding them but I promise, I won't change your character at all, I only reword phrases or fix spelling.
As always, apprentices may not have mates or kits.
I typically choose warrior names for apprentices. You may request one by messaging me with at least one mod included and asking politely or by putting it in your joining form. I also ask that in order to keep things diverse to only use each prefix once. If you are very attached to a particular prefix please pm me and I can see what I can do, but I will be allowing a prefix to be used twice at the maximum.
Living in the clan is dangerous. Many cats are killed, succumb to illness/injury, disappear, run away, etc especially somewhere as dangerous as the mountains where CrestClan is situated. Please be open to losing your characters. It keeps things new and interesting. Remember all cats die eventually and rarely of old age.
Have fun! If you have any ideas, questions, or concerns, please feel free to message me. I don't bite, I promise! ❆❆❆ Credits
Layout and banners created by the amazing *MoriningGlory* Picture in banner belongs to Erin Hunter Credit for relationship and feline age chart goes to Raincloud33 So much of this clan would not have been possible without the help of *MorningGlory* - Glory, thank you so much for all of your help! ❆❆❆

Plots
"Everyone thought the evil and danger was over but the darkness has not been put away for good. Evil is rising again but far tougher. In sickness and hunger, unrest will rise. Darkness will cloud and thunder will roll until both sides drop their prize, forgetting their children, their friend, their brother. and this is the way the world ends; not with a bang, but with a whimper."
Darkness Falls As the weather gets warmer more and more two-legs are beginning to wander onto the clan’s territory leaving a wake of new and unusual objects in their wake. When a sickness begins to affect both the prey and the cats of the clan after a group of SunClan cats rest in the CrestClan camp, even the Ancients can’t seem to deliver answers. Will the clan be able to overcome this new illness or will it wipe the clan out? -Everyone- Title Info -Cats Involved- ❆❆❆ Clan Roles
Due to CrestClan wishing to cut ties with the clan that abandoned them many moons ago they have created for themselves a slightly different layout for the many roles in the clan. Although most have been simply renamed there are some that have been altered altogether so it is important to read this bit. The leader of the clan remains fundamentally the same but their title has been changed to chief. The deputy, warriors, and apprentices once again are the same except for their title which have been changed to advisor, guards, and initiates respectively. The role of the medicine cat has now been divided into two roles, the Paws of the Ancients focuses more on the healing aspect while the Voice of the Ancients focuses more on the prophecy and advisory aspect of the role. The elders are another role that has been altered slightly, now called the Council of Elders, they are highly revered as not many cats make it to the age of retirement in the harsh mountain, they are close advisors to the chief and have a large impact on what decisions they make during times of trial. ❆❆❆

Allegiances Chief:
Weaselstar - 39 Moons - Tom - MadFaith Weaselstar is a very noble looking tom, very much fitting the appearance expected of a chief. He has thick, light brown, almost coppery fur with darker tabby stripes along his face and a lighter chest and chin. His thick pelt is marred by deep scars that run along his face, chest and legs which he received after loosing a life to a grizzly bear. These scars make the tom look very intimidating, his left ear is shredded and a large claw mark runs over the length of his face. His eyes seem to match the sharpness of these scars. Weaselstar has bright amber eyes that aren't necessarily harsh but often have a hard time looking friendly, much like the rest of him, although if you can look past the scars you will be able to find the compassionate heart that beats underneath Advisor:
Name - Age - Gender - Screen Name Words, words, words, words Voice of the Ancients:
Goldendawn - 28 Moons - She-cat - *Morningglory* An average she-cat with thick, golden-brown fur. Her eyes are such an intense golden amber, they almost seem to burn with fire. Paws of the Ancients:
Crookedwhisker - 24 Moons - Tom - Stitch A black tom with long and shaggy fur that drags across the floor as he walks; usually getting filthy throughout the day. His chest fur to his belly is white and his eyes are a pale yellow. He was named for his whiskers which are crooked and bent in strange ways since birth, but it never affected their uses. Initiate of the Voice:

Name - Age - Gender - Screen Name Words, words, words, words Guards:
Sheeptangle - 82 Moons - She-cat - little blu ♥ Though a bit on the smaller side, this molly used to be quite the guard in her day. Her fur is a dull white, not quite as bright and snowy as it used to be when she was younger. Sheeptangle was most certainly named after her pelt, which is oddly curly and easily gets knotted if she doesn't keep it well-groomed. She has faded hazel eyes that are more green around the pupil. Her nose and paw pads are a bright pink, standing out quite a bit against her coat. She long scars along her legs, a smaller one on her right flank, and three claw marks on either side of her neck from days when she used to be down for a fight. Her joints tend to bother her these days, so she walks a bit slower than she used to.
Minkbounce - 42 Moons - She-cat - MadFaith Minkbounce has a long thick pelt, something she is very thankful for during those colder winter nights, meaning that she is very at home in the mountains. Her fur has a silvery tinged undercoat with a brown overcoat that has splotches of both lighter and darker brown. Her face is very light with some noticeable darker tabby stripes, a white muzzle and pale green eyes blend nicely with her pale fur. Her ears are rather large and tipped with dark brown tufts of fur.
Jasminefang - 35 Moons - She-cat - hawky2581 Jasminefang has medium length, black and orange tortoiseshell fur with hazel colored eyes. She is a little on the smaller side and has a athletic build.
Eagleswoop - 32 Moons - little blu ♥ Unlike his mother, Eagleswoop is a rather large, bulky tom. His shoulders are broad and his legs long and powerful. He's spent his whole life working hard and trying to keep himself in top athletic shape - and it very clearly shows. His pelt is long and feathery, making it a hassle to keep well groomed. Pale dove gray fur is his base coat, which grows darker around his shoulders and the base of his tail. He has black lynx-point markings on his face, legs, and tail. His chest is a bright snowy white which matches his hind paws. Eagleswoop has a pair of light amber eyes, which grow darker around the pupil. Scars litter his hind legs and stomach from a dog attack.
Nightbreeze - 31 Moons - She-cat - MadFaith Nightbreeze is a petite she-cat but her thicker pelt makes her seem more sizable then she truly is, she drops about half her size if she ever finds herself soaked. Her long black fur is sleek and despite her not being a meticulous groomer, always seems to look as though she just finished grooming it. Although she has a very small frame, her feathery tail is in comparison quite long and could almost be described as awkward looking. The molly's eyes stand out beautifully against her dark fur, bright yellow against a sea of black.
Shadowtrip - 30 Moons - Tom - *Morningglory* A tall tom with thick, unruly, gray and white fur. His eyes are a warm, yellow-amber.
Galestorm - 25 Moons - Tom - MadFaith Galestorm is a very handsome cat, something he does not let others forget. He is a broad shouldered tom with meticulously kept thick fur that only makes him appear even more muscular than he already is. He is a grey, almost silver, tabby tom with thick dark grey tabby markings running along his body. His chest, muzzle and legs are unmarked by the stripes and are instead clean white in colour and his eyes are a bright green.
Flurrystep - 23 Moons - She-cat - Guard - MadFaith Flurrystep could very easily be described as a delicate she-cat. With her petite frame and well kept fur she seems very out of place in the harsh climate of the mountain, but she is very much at home in the mountains. Her pelt is mostly white with some soft grey markings on her face, ears, legs and nose. Her bright blue eyes stand out well against the darker grey fur of her face and always seem to be lit up with laughter.
Stormclaw - 23 Moons - Tom - stormclaw Stormclaw is a lithe, lean, and muscular black tom. He is pretty tall for a cat, and thus can seem physically imposing from a distance. He has dark blue eyes, which reflect that of the night sky.
Emberheart - 21 Moons - Tom - little blu ♥ A bit on the lankier side of the spectrum, Emberheart is rather tall and has large paws and a thick tail. His fur is medium length, not too short but definitely not long either - though it has depth, which keeps him warm in the winter. The vibrant red color of his pelt makes him stand out quite a bit, aside from the single white paw and tail-tip. His chin has a small dash of cream on it, not quite white. Two vibrantly ice blue eyes settle into his rounded face, a stark contrast to his dark russet fur for which he was named. Initiates:
Lynxpaw - 8 Moons - Tom - MadFaith Lynxpaw is a very leggy tom with a long body, making him rather large for his age, but not necessarily muscular. Lynxpaw is a light silver tabby tom with a white chin, underbelly, and legs. The most shocking features about Lynxpaw are his intensely amber eyes, they are a bright almost golden colour around the pupal that darkens to a darker amber at the outer rim.
Cloudypaw - 8 Moons - She-cat - little blu ♥ Unlike her father and brother, this molly was born with a tiny build, being that she is the runt of her litter. She has delicate features and short legs, which make her long, fluffy tail look a bit disproportionate. Though it may be hard to tell at first glance, Cloudypaw has a white base-coat. The snowy color is covered with inky black and smokey gray splotches, which fade to a more silvery gray - especially on her flanks and stomach. Her ears are tall and tufted and she has bright green eyes.
Marmotpaw - 8 moons - Tom - *Morningglory* A short, light-brown tabby tom. He has pale gray eyes.
Gopherpaw - 8 Moons - Tom - MadFaith Gopherpaw is an average sized tom with a medium length brown tabby pelt. his fur for the most part is a light brown colour but his tabby markings are a darker brown, almost black colour and he has splashes of white on his muzzle, chest, underbelly, and around his eyes. The young tom's eyes are green in colour with a brown ring around the pupal.
Jadepaw - 7 Moons - She-cat - bittersweetjade (Jadeu or Riley) Jadepaw is a small, scraggly she-cat with a wiry charcoal pelt. Dappling her ebony pelt are pallid white splotches, racing from her muzzle to her belly. They are stark in contrast compared to her inky black fur, her pigmentation supplementing her bold, uncaring appearance. To further accentuate her roiling colors; her eyes are a deep nebulous emerald, that convey neither hate nor love. By far, her most striking features are her muscles, which are etched through her pelt like masterful calligraphy. Despite her air of majestic elegance, Jadepaw is anything but agile. She stumbles on rough, rocky terrain and finds it difficult to dodge her attacker's moves.
Amberpaw - 6 Moons - She-cat - Stitch A slender and small grey she-cat with bright amber eyes. Her grey fur is very short and soft to the touch which gives her a hard time in the colder seasons, but is hoping it will grow out more as she gets older. Queens:

Traditions
In an attempt to stand apart from their old traditions of the clan that left them behind and find ways to survive in this harsh wilderness, the cats of CrestClan have some very unique traditions that they have incorporated into their day to day lives. CrestClan cat’s hold fast to traditions and uphold them at all costs.
Feather Ceremony - Feathers hold a very important role within the clan as they represent rank within the clan. Feathers can either be collected or plucked off of a catch and are held by the Voice of the Ancients who will attach the plumes to the fur of others using tree sap. It is seen as a huge honor to receive a feather and an omen of bad things to come if one is lost. Feathers are given after a Guard completes their night out in the wilderness after receiving their full name, to the Chief after they return from receiving their nine lives, to the Aids of the Ancients after receiving their full names, to Advisors after being appointed and accepting their position, to members of the Council of Elders after retiring, and as a reward for outstanding acts of bravery or heroism.
Guard Ceremony - When an Initiate becomes a Guard they make a vow to protect the clan and their way of life, to uphold the traditions and continue to walk the path the Ancients have set before them. They receive their full name but before they can be officially seen as a Guard they must spend a full day out of the camp, from sunhigh to sunhigh. This is a chance for them to demonstrate their skills and truly put what they learned to the test, but they do not go through this alone. Newly named Guards will go in groups of at least two in order to emphasize their belief that the Ancients equipped each cat with unique gifts, and their mentors are in charge of watching them from a distance, only intervening in dire circumstances.
Kitting Season - Due to the harsh winters, CrestClan cats have adopted a “kitting season” in order to ensure most kits survive through the harsh climate. Generally, most kits are born in Newleaf or in Greenleaf, rarely in Leaf-Fall, and next to never in Leafbare. Kits born in Leafbare are seen as cursed and will most likely not make it through the winter. If you would like to have a litter born during Leafbare, you must ask me first and we will see what we can do but be prepared that most if not all of the kits will most likely die.
Speaking with The Ancients - Although their ancestors still walk the same skies, CrestClan cats experience StarClan slightly differently than other clans. They call them the Ancients and they are able to seek their guidance through the Voice of the Ancients but also during the nights when the Aurora Borealis light up the sky. Those wishing to speak with the Ancients travel up to Starpeak and there they are able to visit and talk with those that have passed. Their ancestors appear as physical flickering forms that glow with the colours of the night sky and solid to the touch.
Honoring of the Mountain Lion - After deciding to remain in the mountains, CrestClan cats relied heavily on learning about this new wilderness from those that called this harsh landscape home, one of these creatures being the mountain lion. The cats learned how to hunt and move silently through their new territory all thanks to watching this mighty creature. When they were in dire need of food during their first Leafbare, it was the remains of a mountain lion’s meal that kept them from starving. They hold the mountain lion in high regard and see it as a sacred animal. At the beginning of each Newleaf four Guards are selected by the Voice of the Ancients to travel to the Mountain Lion’s Den and deliver the first rabbit caught in the new year. This is seen as a massive honor to be selected and upon the Guard's return the clan throws a feast in the Mountain Lion’s honor where the apprentices might sometimes put on small pageants or the Guards might spar in pairs as a demonstration of their skill. ❆❆❆ History
When Snakestride set out with her friends and family to find a new home for their clan, she spent her time daydreaming about the new land they’d find. She never expected to end up lost in the mountains, split apart from the majority of the clan, with only a few clanmates at her side. The small group took refuge in a cave, out of the bitter, swirling winds of a snow storm where they waited… and waited… and waited for their clan to come find them. However, when morning came and the snow had passed, they found no trace of their friends and family. Heartbroken, Snakestride decided the small group would just have to survive on their own. They decided then to remain in the mountains, out of spite to prove that they’d survive the harsh world. Not wanting to remember the cats that had abandoned them, they chose to make a new name for their little clan, stripping their old identity away the same way the wind stripped the rocks of the vegetation that struggled to grow here. Up here, where the land met the sky, Crestclan was born, determined to thrive in their harsh new world.
Observing the natural habitants of the mountain helped the cats learn the skills they needed to live in this unfamiliar land. The indomitable mountain lion taught them how to hunt through piles of snow, and the gravity-defying mountain goat taught them how to navigate the slippery slopes. From the elusive mouse, the cats learned where to find the sparse, precious herbs they’d need for healing and from the mighty eagle, they learned how to read the sky to tell the weather.
As time passed and their tiny clan grew in numbers thanks to the birth of new kits and the occasional cat losing their way in the mountain, the cats of Crestclan forged a new identity, and a new life with traditions of their own, breaking further and further away from the way of the clan they’d grown up in. The bitterness they felt towards their previous clan was passed down through the stories the elder cats told and can be seen today, in the way Crestclan looks down on their neighboring clans down the mountain. ❆❆❆

Weaselstar // Cave Entrance // Open Sighing deeply the chief exhaled slowly, his breath forming a small cloud in the crisp morning air. Leafbare had been a difficult one, but yet the clan was as strong as ever and Weaselstar couldn't be more proud. As the days got warmer the tom continued to look forward to each new dawn and the excitement that each sunrise would hold. It was always interesting to watch the forest spring back to life after each winter, the flora and fauna slowly beginning to creep out as the snow began to melt away. Shifting his weight slightly the chief closed his eyes as he sat perched on a smooth stone just outside the camp's entrance. This was one of his favourite places to watch the sun rise, from here he could feel the sun begin to warm his coat as it peeked over the horizon while also listening to his clan as they began to wake.
Minkbounce // Camp // With Amberpaw Rising from her nest along one of the upper levels of the camp's nesting areas the older molly dipped into a deep stretch, her muscles rippling under her thick coat. Shaking the sleep and loose moss from her pelt she checked to make sure her feather still clung to her fur, it was a blue jay's feather it's cobalt blue colour a beautiful contrast to the browns of her fur; she had yet to loose her feather and she wasn't about to today. Blinking sleepily Minkbounce scanned the sleeping bundles of fur for the grey pelt of her initiate Amberpaw. Since the younger she-cat was a fairly new initiate and there was no assigned nesting it was always difficult to locate the initiates for the first little bit. Slowly tip toeing around the other bundles of fur that were her clanmates Minkbounce eventually made it to Amberpaw's nest were she gently prodded her on the shoulder with her nose.
(I can post some starters for my others if you want but I just wanted to give us something to go off of)

A dark shape moved amongst the shadows of a small cave and white flashed before a cat emerged from its entrance. His pale yellow eyes glinted with annoyance and grumbles rumbled from his throat as he made his way into the center of camp. Crookedwhisker woke up to some of his herbs being withered to nothing useful which meant going out and collecting as much as possible. The weather was warming up and he hoped the herbs that grew around the mountain would be growing once more. Even though the air grew warmer, cats were still in danger of getting sick and he didn't want his storage to be low.
His gaze flicked around in hope to find some unlucky cat to come with him. Crookedwhisker knew not many of his clan mates liked him and no one volunteered to come with him. Usually he would have to ask or force a younger cat to come with him if they had no training sessions today.

Snoring softly, Amberpaw happily dreamt of jumping to the highest point of the peak with the wind in her fur and the shapes below growing smaller. Right as she was about to touch the point, something prodded her side and jolted her back into the real world. A small groan escaped her lips as she rolled onto her back and glanced up to see her mentor standing above her. "Am I late for something?" She squeaked in alarm, bolting straight out of her small nest and looking around frantically.

Minkbounce // Camp // With Amberpaw Rolling her eyes as Amberpaw spoke out in alarm, Minkbounce placed her tail against the initiates muzzle as a quiet reminder to keep her voice down. Using her head she gestured to the other sleeping clanmates that were still slumbering within earshot. She shook her head, trying to hide her amusement at the young molly's exclamation but not concealing it well. Once she thought that it was safe to remove her tail the guard began to move carefully around the nests towards the camp's exit. Gingerly leaping down onto the main level from the ledge Minkbounce paused to glance over her shoulder to make sure her apprentice was following flicking her tail to beckon the initiate to do so.

Flurrystep // Camp // Open Squeezing through the camp's entrance, Flurrystep was reminded of how thankful she was for her smaller stature. Sometimes it was bothersome to be on the shorter side, but when she saw her taller clanmates having to duck each time as they entered camp she very quickly changed her tune. The guard had left the camp early that morning to get some fresh air, decided to catch the sunrise and get some hunting done at the same time and she had done well, but not as good as she had hoped. She had managed to take down a grey jay but she had been hoping to find one other piece of prey to bring back alongside the bird but she hadn't been able to spot anything else. As the cave opened up before her she took a moment to let her eyes adjust to the darkness of the camp before continuing forwards. It seemed as though the clan was beginning to stir. She noticed Minkbounce and Amberpaw heading out for some morning training and a huff coming from the Aid's den let her know that Crookedwhisker had woken up as well. Dropping the limp body of the bird on the fresh-kill pile the small white-furred molly sighed contently as she searched for something or someone to help fill her morning.

Amberpaw screwed up her eyes as her mentor's tail flashed onto her muzzle to keep her quiet. Her bright amber eyes scanned the area and noticed most of their clan mates were still sound asleep. Nodding slowly, she crept out of the comfortable and navigated herself out of the area. This was her first time being out of camp! Excitement buzzed through her as she followed close behind her mentor and made her way into the small opening which lead to the territory. She wondered if anyone was afraid to go in here due to its tight space and only so many cats can go in at a time. A small gasp left her muzzle as she gazed across the peak. The world seemed a lot larger than she had imagined and the different scents almost overwhelmed her. Her gaze shot down to where her mentor stood and frowned, wondering how she could jump down so far. "Will I break my leg if I jump?" She asked.

Minkbounce // Just Outside Camp // With Amberpaw Watching Amberpaw's expressions as she saw the world outside the camp for the first time, Minkbounce couldn't help but smile slightly as she remembered her own experience when she was Amberpaw's age. As the young molly asked her question regarding the safety of the situation Minkbounce couldn't help but chuckle softly shaking her head, "You should be just fine, the ground down here is nice and spongy from the melting snow, but if you'd feel more comfortable you can jump down to that ledge right there," she gestured with her tail to a ledge sitting halfway down the jump, "and then jump the rest of the way down."
