Cloudstar » Planning a family in the middle of a drought was fish-brained, even Cloudstar was aware of that, but there had never been a good time for the two of them, and now the more she thought about it, the more she realized that it was probably now or never at this point for the two of them. Cloudstar wanted a family with Frecklebee, and if they waited any longer then it very well could become impossible for them both.
Once again Frecklebee had a point. It would make the most sense if she was the one that carried a litter for them. Out of the two of them she had the least responsibility, and she was already usually in camp anyway, but the one concern about that was the state of Frecklebee’s legs. Would they allow the molly to carry a litter without any major complications? Legs weren’t exactly an important part of having kits, but what if there was more wrong with Frecklebee’s body than just her legs? It was a lot to think about, and Cloudstar was rather concerned about it now that she was starting to put things into perspective. ”Perhaps that’s something we can ask Loonfur. I’m sure he’d have an answer.” Cloudstar trusted in her medicine cat and friend. If any medicine cat would have an answer for their worries it would be him without a doubt.

Sorghumnose » Worry momentarily gripped her at Dusttail’s initial reaction. Had she been too rough in greeting him? Sorghumnose had thought it only a brush of the fur, but maybe she had been a bit too much. She had been a little over-eager about greeting the tomcat, so it would probably be best to apologize for coming on a bit too strong. It was always better to apologize first and then ask questions later - or that’s just what she had always told herself.
Just as she was about to make an apology, the other warrior mentioned the beetle in her jaws, calling it a catch. Sorghumnose’s blue eyes went wide with shock. ”T-they’re not! I...I mean maybe they could be,” she stammered, placing the beetle on the ground and gingerly holding it with her paw so it wouldn’t go anywhere. ”I’m taking him back to camp with me, ya know, as a friend. I figured beetles get pretty lonely out here, and they’re too small to really travel all the way to camp to find friends, so I thought I could help him out,” she explained in a quiet voice, realizing just how odd that sounded now that she was speaking it out loud. Oh, Dusttail probably thinks I’m crazy. Should I be keeping beetles? No other warrior does that, do they? They’re all gonna think I’m crazy. Maybe I should bring him back where I found him. Maybe-
Her thoughts were broken when she heard a splash. Back into reality, she watched as Dusttail brought down a trout. The molly’s eyes went wide. ”A trout!” She exclaimed excitedly. ”That was a lucky catch. I haven’t seen a trout in days because of this heat!”

- - - Frecklebee [ Feathertalon] In hindsight, maybe Frecklebee shouldn’t have even brought kits up right now. They definitely had more important things to focus on than this future family of theirs, but it had been something on her mind for awhile and honestly? Frecklebee was worried that they might never have the chance to start a family and that was something Frecklebee wanted to do. She had seen the queens with their kits many times, she had offered to help watch them when needed, and she had been there to watch numerous kits go on to become apprentices and stop visiting her. Due to her injury when she was younger, Frecklebee had been in the elder’s den since she was only eighteen moons. Now, well over thirty moons later, she was still there, and in her time she had seen kits come into the clan and watched as they moved on to be apprentices and then warriors, and well...not many of them remembered to visit her anymore. It would be nice if she had her own little family now. “Sounds like we’ve got a lot of questions for Loonfur,” Frecklebee said lightheartedly. Between Cloudstar’s injuries and the questions they had about kits, they would definitely have a lot to talk to the medicine cat about.

Cloudstar » Cloudstar couldn't stop the laugh that slipped from her maw at her mate's comment. "We're gonna end up talking his ears off, aren't we?" She asked with amusement in her words. Surely Loonfur wouldn't mind though. He and Cloudstar were close enough that the leader didn't mind asking him more than a question or two in one visit. Fortunately, even with the heat, it didn't seem like Loonfur had been too busy as of late, so Cloudstar could only imagine that he'd want some company beyond just Pebblepaw at this point. It had been some time since the leader had last sat down and really enjoyed some time with Loonfur. Sure, she was technically about to become a patient of his, but she was feeling better by now with only a little bit of lingering pain. Loonfur was sure to have something to help her with that in no time.
Still side-by-side with Frecklebee, Cloudstar made the last few steps between the outside and camp. Gently she nudged Frecklebee forward to allow the young elder inside first. "Right behind ya," she murmured, making sure to let her mate know that she would be following right along.

RiverClan camp ; with velvetfur ;
Lies, like most words, are blown away as soon as they are uttered. Forgotten. Dandelion fuzz carried away by the wind. Velvetfur, of course, would be the cat to reach out and try and grab the fluff. To prove that he could. That he was the best fluff catcher in all five clans; not even those downy-chasers over in SkyClan could out-fluff him. The breeze carries away all things though. And similarly, Velvetfur calling out Taropaw’s lies was shoved aside. Cleaned like an arm swept over a table setting; all the dishes fell onto the floor in a cacophonic clamor, but it was no matter.
Taroapw was just having fun, after all. Her lies were lies for lies sake, not an attempt to deceive. The world was what she made of it. “
Aw, you caught me”, the she-cat responded to his first comment with a smirk, barely teasing, her eyes gleaming with muffled excitement. “I was over by the gorge sunbathing – but you have to promise not to tell anybody! Timbersnarl would be so mad. ‘Cause ya know. Apprentices are stupid and haven’t learned impulse control yet, so we’re at risk of just hurtling ourselves over the gorge.”
She adding a sprinkle of acid to the last part of her sentence; all Cheshire in how her mouth creased into an exaggerated grin. If religious battle cats can come back from the dead, certainly they can smile. Taropaw is going to abuse this miracle. “If anyone catches us over by the gorge, we can simply explain that I had foolishly tripped trying to jump the waterfall”, she is still pacing, tail-raised as if entertained by her own speech. “But I was lucky that Velvetfur, best fish and apprentice-catcher in all of RiverClan, had been there to save me. My hero.”
Taropaw was basically laughing at her own jokes. She, too, is a bit verbose. She talks as if the only thing in the world which entertains her is the sound of her own voice. A superiority complex made manifest; a philosopher giving a speech to an empty lecture hall, or lecturing a journal for rejecting his 5,000 words-over-the-word-limit opus.
When she finally stopped walking, Velevetfur finally seemed to glean the question and it around, though only for a split second. He responded with characteristic Velvetfur pop and bravado. Taropaw could have laughed in his face. But she didn’t. She needed him. And that would have been rude, and she needed him. Taropaw had a measure of self-control, unlike some ShadowClan apprentices, who always seemed on the verge of mutiny or throwing themselves screaming onto the Thunderpath as a dare. So, Taropaw smiled. Wider, now.
Imaginary red text blinked festively above Velvetfur’s head. Stage One: Completed. Taropaw exaggerated a low, loud purr as she leaned forward to lick Velvetfur’s shoulder in thanks.
“Oh thank you, Velvetfur! I knew I could come to you!” The she-cat spun around, forcing the bright and bubbly act to reach a fever pitch. Storm-sky eyes wide and doe-like. She’s hanging off a chandelier singing, “No one swims like Velvetfur, catches fish like Velvetfur, when he meows no one meows like Velvetfur”. This cover isn’t as catchy.
Taropaw turns around and faces the river-side exit of camp. “Shall I lead the way?”
_____________________________________________________________________________ In due time we will see the far buttes lit by a flare I've seen your bravery, and I will follow you there

- - - Frecklebee [ Feathertalon] Well it had taken them awhile, but they had finally made it to camp. Which was a good thing because all of that walking had not been good for Frecklebee’s legs, even now she could feel them tremble as they threatened to give out and collapse. In truth, Frecklebee couldn’t walk for very far or for very long and by the time they were nearing RiverClan camp, her legs were shaking. Well, the legs she could feel were shaking at least. Nodding to her mate when Cloudstar reassured her that she was right behind her, Frecklebee pressed forward a little longer and entered the RiverClan camp. Inside, there were a couple cats mingling about, however it seemed as if a good amount of her clanmates were already out and about exploring RiverClan territory. It wasn’t too unusual though, they had patrols to do, apprentices to teach, and prey to catch. Eyes wandering over the camp, Frecklebee paused once the medicine cat den came into sight. “Come on,” she meowed back to Cloudstar. “Let’s go see if Loonfur is here,” she said and slowly began to pad over towards the medicine cat den on trembling legs.

Velvetfur » "I would never tell a soul about the sin you've committed," Velvetfur responded with ease, silent laughter causing his whiskers to twitch with his own mirth. "You of all cats should know that sunbathing at the gorge is a crime so horrid that even StarClan may reject you once you ascend to their ranks. Has Timbersnarl taught you anything about all this?" It was clear he was simply teasing, a mere joke in-between everything else. What was the point in getting angry about something like this? Sure, the gorge was a dangerous place, and the rules that were put in place had been put into place for a reason, but it wasn't like every solitary apprentice that ventured off to that area had the mind to toss themselves over like limp prey. Velvetfur himself had been that apprentice that would find himself near the gorge more often than not, and he was still alive and well today. Never once had he even contemplated falling to his doom.
Now, if you asked Velvetfur, warriors seemed more likely to fall to their doom near the gorge than apprentices. Most apprentices, while rebellious, still seemed to hold a sense of apprehension toward that particular area. They knew stepping paw over there was against Clan rules, and that stopped them from acting too wild around the elongated gash in the earth. They were defiant, but they still held a caution in their paws that kept them safe. Warriors, on the other paw, had no such rules that held them back. They were free to do as they please. They had full control over the reigns. Caution was no longer in their actions when they were near the gorge. Responsible, respected warriors would keep themselves calm and wary of what could happen, but for those warriors that were cocky, too full of themselves, danger could very well pounce on them at any second. Velvetfur liked to imagine that he was one of those warriors that respected the gorge. He knew of its dangers, but he was also aware that StarClan saw something special in him, and they would never call him to their ranks until they desperately needed him. His job here in the living realm was not done, not yet.
Velvetfur's tail-tip twitched as his amber eyes remained focused on the young molly pacing around him. "Ah, with a story like that they'll be calling for my rise to leadership. Velvetstar the Brave, they'll call me," he mused, enjoying speaking those words perhaps more than he should. But he couldn't help but imagine all the praise he would receive, all the attention he would collect. Toms and mollies alike would be throwing themselves at him, wishing for him to call them his mate. A chuff escaped him at the thought. Salmonwhisker wouldn't be able to beat that, he thought to himself with a puff of air that had his chest swelling just like his ego.
Should he let himself swell with pride even more he was surely to burst like a swollen fish left out in the sun to rot, but Velvetfur was an egotistical sort of feline, and perhaps one day that would come back to bite him in the tail. For now, though, he was simply unaware of what could happen to those who thought too highly of themselves. "Your hero indeed. I'm the savior of RiverClan, after all," he purred as he flicked his tail across the apprentice's flank, letting her know he appreciated her gesture of gratitude in his own nonverbal way.
When asked if she should lead the way, Velvetfur dipped his head in a nod. "Lead the way, Taropaw. I'll be right behind you, looking out for any danger that might cross our paths." It was a warrior's job to keep others safe, and it was no surprise that Velvetfur took his duty as a warrior very, very seriously.

Cloudstar » From where she now stood Cloudstar could tell that her mate was having a hard time standing. This wasn't anything new to the leader, she was well aware that Frecklebee could only handle so much walking in a day, and their trek to and from the willow tree had been a lot for the other molly. Cloudstar tried not to worry herself too much over her mate's condition, but she couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt that she had been the reason for why Frecklebee had strayed so far from camp in the first place. Next time she wanted to relax with her mate she was going to make sure they didn't go so far from camp.
Once Frecklebee was inside the camp, Cloudstar pushed herself through the entrance. She took a quick look around the camp, noticing that it was rather empty. She'd be concerned if it was full at this time of the day. Another round of guilt hit her, different from what she felt when thinking about Frecklebee's shaking legs. Unlike her Clan, she had been relaxing and wasting the day away when she, as the leader, should have been out hunting or patrolling, keeping her Clan safe and well-protected. Yet all she had done so far was overheat; she hadn't even taken Mistypaw out of camp today. By all means she wasn't a lazy mentor, and today was the only day she had forwent training for relaxing, but now the guilt was hitting her all at once and she needed a moment.
Taking a deep breath, she tried calming herself. She had to tell herself it was okay to take breaks here and there, every cat needed them. Even as leader she needed to not wear herself out. There was always tomorrow, or even later today, if Loonfur gave her the all clear.
Cloudstar shook her mind free of those thoughts. She needed to focus on what mattered right now. "I'm right here," she murmured as she caught up beside her mate. She brushed her fluffy tail against Frecklebee's spine and pressed up against her to help support her as they headed for the medicine cat's den.

toadface { riverclan pebble beach } { open } As the sun climbed to its noon peak, the temperature climbed with it. Toadface had been lucky to find respite in the shade of the Rustling Willow. From his place in the shade, the tabby tom watched the river with a half-lidded gaze. On better days, this was considered the widest part of the river, but the drought had shrunk it to a trickle of its former glory. Toadface was sure that if he waded out he’d find the water barely deep enough to lift his paws from the riverbed.
Turning his attention away from the river, the warrior assessed the collection he had amassed so far. A blue feather (still in good condition), a black stone (exceptionally smooth and round), and an unidentifiable bone (though its size suggested its former owner to be a mouse or vole). All in all, there were a few decent finds for now. After a bit of rest and maybe a swim, he’d return to collecting. His hope for the day was to find a colorful stone. At the moment, Toadface’s collection consisted mostly of black and gray stones.
His ears perk at a sound in the brush, putting him on edge for only a moment before relaxing once more. The last thing he wanted was for someone to disturb him. He didn’t feel like enduring a scolding for not hunting or patrolling, just like his apprentice days when his mentor would get after him for wandering off instead of training.

Sorghumnose » Sorghumnose perked her ears up when the tom mentioned how having a beetle friend was interesting. A warm flutter danced inside her chest. A wide smile pulled at her lips as she gave a little happy trill, her dark brown tail curling up high into the air. "You think so?" She asked. If Dusttail thought keeping a beetle as a friend was interesting then surely that meant he didn't think it was weird, and if it wasn't weird then that meant it was okay to do so. Now she couldn't wait to show others her beetle! Frecklebee would surely love to hear about him, and she had to show Archwhisker. Surely he would find her beetle friend to be just as amazing as she did.
Her excitement only grew the moment Dusttail also mentioned giving the insect plenty of leaves and fruit. "You know how to take care of a beetle?" She asked, picking it back up gingerly into her jaws to follow the tomcat back to camp. "I mean, I know what to do, but...opinions from others are nice to have." Truth be told she only knew a little bit about how to take care of a beetle, but Dusttail sounded like he knew a lot, and Sorghumnose wanted to absorb in all of his knowledge now.

Sorghumnose » Right, right, that made a lot of sense. Keep that in mind, the pointed molly told herself sternly. This wasn't the kind of information that she could lose and everything would be okay. If she didn't retain this then her beetle's life would be put on the line, and that was the last thing she wanted to do. Even if she had only known this insect for a few minutes at this point she was already incredibly attached to the creature and wanted to make sure it lived a long and full life without anything bad happening to it. She had to prove herself as a good beetle mom.
The molly nodded, eyes narrowed in deep concentration as she did her best to put Dusttail's advice into her memory storage. "That makes sense, yeah!" She chirped around the beetle. "I guess I need to go hunting for leaves and stuff, huh?" Just like with the fish, there was a lack of undergrowth due to the drought, but Sorghumnose was sure she could find enough for her beetle to live off of. He was tiny, there was no way he needed to eat a whole lot, especially not as much as a full grown warrior like herself.

Lotusbreeze The lilac molly picked up her two voles and looked at the tortieshell she-cat wondering if she needed help the unfortunate thing was that she couldn't do much for her. She gave a look of sympathy letting her friend know she wishes she could help. But figured that Lillypetal probably didn't really need it. Somehow she knew that the she-cat could probably carrying all those fish right back to camp with no issue. Putting the thought out of her head she started to make her back to camp.
While they didn't talk much Lotusbreeze had enjoyed the silence to listen to the birds and the swift breeze rustling the bushes and the reeds. The sound was relaxing but she couldn't help but want to talk. She tried too but it sounded like a bunch of gibberish. "Watcha wounna do awfter we put thise fish down," she asked she didn't know if Lillypetal could understand her and felt dumb for even trying to talk with her mouth full of vole.

s i l v e r s t e p in camp w/ open
Two soft blue eyes peered gently from the brush, pink nose twitching at the overwhelming smell of water and peaty earth; though not as pungent as normal. Ears swiveling slightly at the splashing in the river, a slender she-cat slipped out into the small clearing, gaze wandering to Toadface as he waded through the water, collecting rocks and what not.Whiskers quivering with curiosity, the silent Molly crept a bit closer before finding a nice rock, warmed from the sun to sit on. Settling back on her haunches, she coiled her tail tightly across her paws, tipping her head slightly to the side as she watched the older tom do his business. If she'd remembered his name right away, she'd have called out to him, but the tomcat seemed to keep to himself. Pondering momentarily, it suddenly came to her, "Toadface!" she blurted out, tail swishing happily that'd she'd manage to remember his alias. "How's it going?" she inquired politely, expression friendly.

Cricketdance chuckled in agreement, sending a brief glance towards the fresh-kill pile with perked ears. “I’m not particularly picky, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever understand how the other clans actually prefer biting into somethin’ fuzzy every meal.” Her whiskers twitched in amusement, but she gave a slightly more solemn nod to Sandhaze’s comment about the rest of the clan’s grievances. She quickly abandoned any dark thoughts of other’s cats misfortune and complaints as she watched her company smile. “That’s wonderful,” she praised softly, seeming pleased for the younger warrior. She didn’t personally have any real interest in kits and their affairs, but seeing other cats excited for their children always seemed to make her happy. “Apprentices seem to plow their training so quickly nowadays, perhaps I’m just getting old,” she mused. She scoffed at the she-cat’s embarrassment, turning her head up slightly to dismiss her company’s obligated apology. “It’s only sane to worry, don’t apologize. That’s good to hear though, it’ll be nice to have more strong and youthful warriors out on patrols.” She watched the group Shellpaw was eating with briefly, then looked around the rest of camp. “A warrior naming ceremony could certainly lighten the mood around here, that is, if rain doesn’t decide to do it first.” (sorry i took a while to get back to you! and with such a low quality post too ^^’ ) ((i apologize Thunderheart57 !! i take it that dusttail is elsewhere now,, so i hope you don’t mind i didn’t acknowledge him :0

Mallowkit | RiverClan Camp | Feathertalon Mallowkit was chasing after a feather, carefully placing his paws in front of each other as he bounded forward. It was with a bit of creativity that he hesitantly angled his body and tried to jump at the feather backwards. It didn't really work, his haunches ending up skidding out from under him, but he didn't seem to mind the slip-up. Instead, he paused, looking around, to see if there was anyone else nearby to play. He mewed a bit. Then, with a couple of pawsteps forward, he mewed again. He wondered if his dad was around ... (Also Inky! I'll get a reply up tomorrow, hopefully!)

Creekpaw The Rivers edge with Dewdrop ʙєωɪᴛᴄʜɪηɢ ηɪɢʜᴛѕʜαɗє ~ ~👻 Creekpaw could care less about her mentors mention of Lotusbreeze. It wasn't news that the white tom held some indifference towards the grey molly. All Creekpaw cared about right now was performing a successful hunt. After he finished giving his instructions the white mottled shecat gave the breeze a couple of quick sniffs before stalking off to secure a solid scent. There were so many scents that Creekpaw was at first overwhelmed by everything. Giving her head a quick shake she settled her mind and did her best to try and focus on the strongest scent. There was obviously the scent of vole from Dewdrops recent catch, and the apprentice tried to find the scent of yet another vole. However there were no longer any remaining fresh scents of vole. There was the scent of mouse and Creekpaw finally settled for it. Slowly stalking forwards she made sure her belly didnt touch the ground and her tail remained still. Sadly she still needed some work on her balance just as she neared where the mouse was nibbling on something Creekpaw stepped onto a larger rock that happened to not be as stable as the thought. A mistake she could have avoided if she tested the rock out before stepping onto it. The combination of being unbalanced and her careless step led to Creekpaw slipping off the larger rock as it moved under her weight. Rolling to halt her ruckus was quick to scare the mouse back into hiding and she let out a moan of frustration. "Stupid rock!" she hissed casting her gaze to the ground not wanting to see the disappointment in her mentors eyes.
