Velvetshine Open//River
Velvetshine padded towards the river and looked down into the blue water hoping to catch some salmon or trout. As she looked a big, murky shadow appeared in the water. She quickly thrust her paws into the water as she had done so many times as an apprentice and they came back with an extremely large salmon in them. After flopping it onto the ground she sank her claws into it to kill it. "My goal has been acheived" thought Velvetshine "But it wouldn't do any harm to catch a few more" she thought as she went back to watching the river for shadows.

Creekpaw The River || Dewdrop ʙєωɪᴛᴄʜɪηɢ ηɪɢʜᴛѕʜαɗє ~ ~👻 Her knowledge of how bad a hot spell could be for the clan was minimal, yet the serious face that plagued her mentors face told Creekpaw that the issue was serious. Serious enough to even return to camp soon to inform Cloudstar. As Dewdrop exited the shallow river Creekpaw approached him and instinctively looked him over to make sure he was okay. When his pacing began the molly stepped ba k to give him his space. "Of course, I'm glad you didnt get hurt. You could have easily fallen onto those rocks instead of into the shallow river." With her plumed tail Creekpaw pointed out the sharp rocks that were on either side of the spot that the tom had fallen from. Starclan had surely been looking out for him. "Did you want to hunt along the river bank or move back I to the undergrowth? She questioned curiously trying to put the concern for the river behind them.

Breezewhisker was eyeing Sunningrocks as Boulderheart spoke. The tom was enticing the gray warrior to break the code. Of course, that wouldn't bother him much. "Let's go." the tabby mewed with urgency. He didn't need his Clanmate to sweeten his words much more. The warrior's claws were itching. If they did meet a patrol, the two should be able to handle them before more RiverClan warriors saw the fight came to their aid. This would be a very interesting experience. "Luckily, we can just walk across and not worrying about the tides." he thought to himself. The warrior was already padding towards the cluster of rocks. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf [Going to see where exactly we should go to, ThunderClan's page or the border page.]
pebble beach along the river & morning "You're lucky I happened by. Fear not, brave warrior, for your salvation is nigh!"
He closed his eyes, not realizing that there was another warrior. He had meant to call Rainhead, but of course, Salmonwhisker would join them. It wasn't that big of an issue. The two could help him out. After the two had their little greeting, with mostly Salmonwhisker acting like, well, Salmonwhisker, Timberfang nodded in agreement. "He's right. If I go forward I'll sink, but I heard from an elder a few Gatherings that if I even out my weight, I could pull myself out." the brown tabby explained. His ears flew back against his head.
"Don't listen to them, though! This isn't working for me." he spat in frustration, sinking a little further by his trashing. The feeling of sliding more into the mud scared the tom and he jumped in reaction. His paw sunk even more, with his other leg begging to sink as well. Seeing the predicament, the tom looked at the two warriors. "We need to hurry or I'm going to be called Mudfang!" The tom wasn't frustrated with the two warriors, although Salmonwhisker could have just helped like a normal warrior instead of being himself. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf

IRISPAW riverclan camp lizardpaw / ~∂єѕтιиу shellpaw / 𝑓𝑜𝑥 ------------------------------
He shrugged at Shellpaw, "I dunno if she'll cut me slack or not. I really wish she'd just walk up to me and call me a fishbrain, or something. It'd probably hurt a little bit, but at least I'd know if she thought I was stupid or not." He smiled, "Hopefully she doesn't despise me, that'd be nice. I just want to complete my training without any trouble."
He took another nibble as he dove into thought. At first it felt a bit odd spending time with older apprentices, but after spending some time with them, mainly dealing with them in the morning, he realized they were great company. They weren't much older than him either, only older by two moons. Seeing them get their warrior names before him would hurt a little bit since they'd be sleeping in another den, but he'd hopefully get over it. Soon enough he'd join them, if training goes smoothly.
He lost his smile when he heard what Lizardpaw had to say about his mentor. Maybe, just maybe, she's a bit worse than I thought. Like I told them, I wish I knew if she hated me or not. "Uh, what do you guys think your warriors name will be?" he said quickly. "Or at least, what do you hope they're going to be?"

rushfeatheraccompanied by jaegerwing | riverIs that...? Oh, StarClan, it is. Please please please do not ask me to go on a patrol, Rushfeather thought frantically as Jaegerwing practically skipped towards him, hearing his pet names for him, or anyone, really. His jaw dropped open, staring at the tom as momentarily before letting out an exasperated sigh. "Hello, honey, my ragtime gal," he repeated, rolling his pale green eyes. Must've spent too much time with kittypets to pick up this language, but I don't blame him. They are entertaining, he mused before stretching out further as he lay next to the river.
"What're we going to be up to this time, Jaegerwing?" he asked, his eyes brimming with curiosity. So maybe they wouldn't be hunting or patrolling the borders. Maybe this would be something better, something interesting for a change. "I'm not going anywhere with you until you tell me, you know that, right? I am not leaving my spot until I get an answer."
He was demanding, that in itself was plain and clear. For such a lazy warrior, the bi-colored tom was quite onerous. He refused to move from his perfect spot next to the river that was his and no one else's. If any cat tried to fight him for it, well, Rushfeather had learned how to pack a good counter attack. He wasn't afraid to bite back either. image source - pixabay | 𝓑𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐫 ♥ & ʀᴀɪɴʟᴇᴀғ 🍁

- - Frecklebee [ Feathertalon] Frecklebee let out a soft purr of amusement as she pressed against her mate. “Well, maybe not fierce,” she agreed. After all, Cloudstar had never been known for her aggression. She was as soft as a cloud - which was rightfully fitting with her name - and as gentle as a raindrop. Frecklebee had never really known her to act out in aggression. Some might think it made RiverClan appear weak in front of the other clans, but Frecklebee would beg to differ. Just because someone preferred the life of peace, didn’t mean they weren’t capable of war. Besides, why not form any alliance with the other four clans? Wouldn’t it be far more beneficial for RiverClan in the long run, if they were on good terms with the other clans? What did any of them have to gain by fighting one another? Especially when the land itself seemed so against them right now. “Fierce or not, you’re the best leader the clans have ever seen, in my opinion,” Frecklebee told her warmly, glancing over towards her mate.

- - Mistypaw [ lazy penguin] Mistypaw sent her brother a look, shaking her head. “You talk about Shellpaw a lot,“ she mused, eyeing her brother warily. Mistypaw liked the other apprentices alright, but currently none of them really stood out to her. They were apprentices, she was an apprentice, they all had the same goal ultimately in mind. The only thing different was that if today went well, Mistypaw was going to be a warrior a lot sooner than the rest of those fishbrains. That’s when a thought occurred to her and her eyes let out as she sent Gullpaw a mischievous smirk. ”Do you like Shellpaw?” She asked, letting out a sharp laugh. ”Gull, he’s a senior apprentice, he wouldn’t look at you no matter how big of a fish you caught,” she told him with a small, playful shake of her head. Then suddenly Gullpaw mentioned the river and Mistypaw stopped in her tracks just before she had the chance to slip and fall in. “Woah,” she said in awe, staring down at the river with wide eyes. “It’s so...so...” she trailed off, turning to face Gullpaw with a spring in her step. “Cool!” She practically cheered. “It looks big enough to swallow us whole! How cool is that?” She asked excitedly as she looked over to her brother.

Lilypetal grimaced at the thought of not being able to fish. That would mean no trout...
Lilypetal responded to catching more fish with, "Okay!", but then responded to the rest with an obvious disgusted expression. "Well, alright, but let's only get voles if we run out of fish that we can catch." It was a very well-known fact that Lilypetal flat-out refused to eat anything except for trout unless there was nothing else and she was absolutely starving.

•Pebblepaw• •-Loonfur-• •-|-Heading towards Morgan’s Farm-|-[mimikyutie ]-•
With his bright green eyes, wide and full of awe for his mentor, he listened as the black and white Tom spoke. He would nod his head, ever so slightly, as the older cat spoke, wanting him to know that he understood and was listening to every little word he said. The world of a medicine cat, was so fascinating and wonderful, and the little apprentice..Well, he didn’t know how to contain his love for it all. His eyes, had shone with happiness and respect, since the day he became the medicine cat apprentice.
Standing, as Loonfur stood, Pebblepaw followed him from the camp, listening to the herbs his mentor started to list off. As he was asked what each herb did, his heart started to thump faster in his chest. Keeping a straight face, and thinking hard, the white and grey apprentice started going through things in his head. He knew the answer to this.
With confidence, he started to answer Loonfur, voice strong. “Honey can be used to soothe sore throats. To give our herbs a better taste. As well as Soothe infections and coughing. Cobwebs helps to absorb and stop bleeding. We use mint to help hide the scent of death. And..It can help with fleas..? And Raspberry leaves..” He trailed off, eyes starting to squint as he thought. He was pretty sure it was something they used to help with bleeding when a Queen was kitting..But what else.?
Gazing at his mentor in question, slight insecurity in his eyes. He was worried about being wrong, and it made him ever the more doubtful. {Hey, mimikyutie , Just reposting this, in case you haven’t seen it. Rainhead -- with Salmonwhisker & Timberfang // pebble beach
Ho there!
Rainhead was startled by the introduction, panning her head in Salmonwhiskers direction. "Oh, Salmonwhisker, hello." How had she not seen the ginger tom when she came over here? Not only did his fur color stand out, but she should've heard his voice before anything. Either way, the blue molly is a little grateful she's not the only one helping Timberfang, especially since it seemed like his paw was sinking further and further, now completely submerged in the mud. While she'd found the situation funny before, Rainhead was now starting to grow concerned, having been staring at Timberfang's paw until Salmonwhisker asked for her.
"I'm gonna be honest, I'm not entirely sure. If we pull on his paw it might dislodge from the mud, but I wouldn't want you to get hurt, Timberfang." She told the older tom with a slight frown. Her attention goes back to the mud and she crouches down to inspect it, whiskers twitching as she tried to decipher just how thick it was without touching it. "I think...I think one of us might have to reach down and try to grab his paw to pull it back up." Rainhead said, looking over her shoulder at the two to see their reactions.

Cloudstar » Even the soft laughter that slipped from her maw jarred her head.
Cloudstar pinned her ears back as pain rolled down her spine from her forehead. She needed a moment to recuperate, causing there to be a momentary bubble of silence between her and her mate. Frecklebee's words had been kind, but Cloudstar couldn't help but reject what her mate had just said. "You're biased," the leader mewed once the pain had settled down to a mere tingle against her neck. "You would say I'm the best anything, warrior, leader, queen, or apprentice." While Cloudstar disagreed with Frecklebee's opinion, she had to admit that it made her feel warm on the inside that her mate held such a high opinion of her. Cloudstar knew there were a lot of cats out there that didn't think so highly of their leader, and honestly, the lilac molly didn't blame them. She knew she was thought of as too peaceful, too submissive, but she had her reasons. She had never been a fighter. Shimmerstar had thought that to be a worthy enough quality to appoint Cloudstar, then Cloudstream, as leader, but...but even then, a big reason for why Cloudstar had been named the deputy back then had been because of a sign from Loonfur. Cloudstar believed and trusted in her medicine cat with all her heart, but what if just that once his interpretation had been wrong? After all, it felt like more often than not she wasn't fit to lead an entire Clan.
Though now wasn't the time to let herself get lost in such self deprecating thoughts. Instead she focused in on the gentle warmth of her mate and leaned forward to nuzzle into the other molly's neck fur. "Ya know, I think you're the best," she breathed out before pulling away. It wasn't long after the words left her mouth that the familiar entrance of camp came into view. Cloudstar was feeling better at this point, only suffering a mild headache and was still rather hot, but she was no longer staggering or panting, so perhaps she could get away with just taking it easy in the camp with her mate for the rest of the day.

Dewdrop The white tom's gaze went towards the sharp rocks. His eyes widened as he realized how close he was to being with Starclan. He then looked over at his apprentice and frowned. He had felt bad, he really wanted to teach her techniques in the water but for now it wasn't the best idea. "Yeah I think being along the bank would be a good idea," he said. He headed along the way they came he looked out for scents of prey and then looked behind him. "Do you smell anything?" he asked wondering if his apprentice could smell something he couldn't.
Dewdrop continued to taste the air allowing the scents to dance on his tongue and he tasted a vole. H He gave a satisfied purr before crouching down and sneaking closer to it. He found it hiding in the reeds he wanted to be careful though he didn't want to just hurl himself into the river. This time he may not be as lucky. He crept on it before quickly pinning down on it's back and giving it the death bite. He turned to his apprentice and gave a tiny smile. "Not my best technique but it'll have to do," he said trying to be his normal playful self.

{Sorry I haven’t responded very fast. I got my replies done though!} •Featherblossom• •-Salmoncreek & Heronglide & Swanpaw-• •-|-Riverclan Camp-|-[Tealraven & 𝑓𝑜𝑥 & Brokenstar]-•
Featherblossom fell into step with the other two warriors, when she heard the excited and pleading meow of an apprentice. Her deep blue eyes traveled towards the white and black bundle of fur, that was following them. She let out a gentle purr, as she recognized Swanpaw, Heronglides apprentice. She gave a soft nod of her head, as Heronglide agreed to allow him to come. It would be good experience for him to be on patrols. She couldn’t help but enjoy his eagerness, to be with his mentor and a patrol.
Turning her head, the tall silver she-cat began to once again follow Salmoncreek, ready to be out and about. She flicked the tip of her feathery tail, hoping that they had no other distractions. She licked her lips, imagining a nice, juicy fish. Her belly gave a soft rumble, reminding her that she was hungry. She glanced upward, looking at the clear, sunny sky. She couldn’t wait to get down towards the river. She’d catch some fish, for her clan to eat..And then would take a nice dip into the river, to cool off.
____________________________________________________________ •Streamwatcher• •-Jaysong-• •-|-Rustling Willow-|-[highprince]-•
The elderly grey she-cat couldn’t help but let out a rumble of laughter as her clouded amber eyes just barely caught Jaysongs fur standing on end. She hadn’t meant to startle him so much. She gave a soft sigh,as the young warrior asked if she needed any help. She knew how fragile she might look now, with her clouding gaze and her whitening face. She definitely wasn’t the warrior that she used to be. Becoming more frail and fragile, as the moons went on. As much as she’d like to protest, the grey she-cat couldn’t help but give in to Jaysongs offer to help.
“Honestly, Jaysong..I would absolutely love some assistance.” She paused to catch her breath, the heat burning into her fur. “This heat will be the death of me, I swear.” She let out a grunt of dismay, before stepping closer to the warrior. “I was just heading to the Rustling willow. Hoping the shade of the tree, can relieve me of this dreadful heat.” She tilted her head, slightly. Then flicked her tail from side to side, excitement filling her voice. “Maybe you’d be up for taking me for a small swim.? I haven’t been in the water, in moons.”
Her face, filled with question and hope, she couldn’t help but think about her younger days. Her mentor had a heck of a time, keeping her out of the river. And then, as a warrior, she was always one of the first to offer to go fishing, just so she could take a swim. She missed it, more than any warrior could ever know. Though, she knew that she didn’t have the strength to be out in the river. Not alone, anyways.

Lotusbreeze The lilac molly looked at her companion a bit questioning that she was adamant on fish. Although she didn't want to argue and just nodded in response. She went back up on the banks of the river she found a vole and jumped onto it biting it's neck giving it the killing blow.
She looked over at Lillyheart wondering how she was doing. "Did you get anything interesting?" she asked with curiosity. She was a bit worried about her friend she didn't want her to get hurt anything so she waited for her to catch something and then she would so she could help her. She kept an eye around the area making sure there were no predators lurking about.

Salmonwhisker pebble beach | accompanied by Timberfang & Rainhead Timberfang nodded in agreement with Salmonwhisker's assessment -- which, of course he should, because Salmonwhisker was indeed a genius -- and suggested evening out his weight as per an elder's advice. Salmonwhisker exchanged a skeptical look with Rainhead, his eyebrows raised. Timberfang threw his ears back in distress and hissed, "Don't listen to them, though! This isn't working for me."
"So it would seem," Salmonwhisker commented.
As the brown tabby struggled, his paw sank deeper into the muck, and he jumped in alarm. Now it appeared that two of his legs were quickly becoming enmired in the mud that sucked at his fur.
Rainhead crouched down beside Timberfang to inspect the thickness of the mud, while Salmonwhisker eyed the sticky brown substance with growing concern. He had no doubt that they could free Timberfang, but do it without also getting filthy? At least the mud would blend in with Timberfang's dark pelt; brown would clash horribly with Salmonwhisker's ginger fur. And that just would not do -- he couldn't bear the idea of returning to camp caked in mud. Jaegerwing would never let him hear the end of it.
"I suppose that could work," he mused, "but it would be a pity to ruin your lovely fur, Rainhead. I simply could not allow that." He circled around to Timberfang's other side and carefully leaned over the mud. "Maybe... maybe Timberfang could try backing out, and then you and I could each take one of his forepaws and... push him out? Gently, of course," he added, smiling rakishly at Timberfang. "I, too, would hate to bring harm to such a handsome and noble warrior." Though his pride may already be damaged beyond repair; I know mine would be. He didn't say this out loud, of course.

travels from the river to camp ; with velvetfur ;
As Taropaw stares into the gaping mouth of the gorge, she considers, as one does, how life is a cycle of destruction. This is not a revelation. It is obvious. She reads too far into it. This is typical of Taropaw.
At birth Taropaw was sentenced to death, as all things are; the world had judged her a part of it and made her mortal. The Day Lilies and the Azaleas, bowing, bestowed her fate upon her. Her motherless mother lapped it into her brow. By the next moon, the flowers had wilted. By the next moon, the light silver lady, winter-faced, widowed, and wistful, had wilted, or faded, into the background of Taropaw’s life. Post-partum depression drove her morose, and, arose comorbid with grief. She refused to feed her daughter. Turned her back with resounding solemnity. Everything around her was destined to die. Taropaw too was destined to die. Lilyface would speed it along. Lilyface was only beckoning it. She was doing nothing wrong. See, Lilyface hearkened to deaths low roar; she was obsessed with it. She was sending out beacons, begging it to come to her. To her daughter. To spare Taropaw from a world so cruel. A world that had ripped Lilyface’s love limb by limb, screaming, back into the ether. Back into all that was. Formless. Leaving Lilyface alone with his ghost, or Taropaw, who had the misfortune of being born in her father’s image. Echoing his face back at Lilyface every day. Face to face to face.
Taropaw was haunted by her parents each time she looked into the water. This is rather melancholic for a starter, isn’t it? A bit heavy on the backstory. A bit heavy overall. Tough luck. Taropaw is always like that. She is weighed down and pensive, often too lost in memory to keep up with conversation. Call it “being distant”, call it a trauma response; the name is no matter. She is still drifting off the end of your sentence. An improperly placed line
break. All fragmented and difficult to understand. The water tumbles through the gorge spitting and splitting. Merging back together at the bottom. And Taropaw is staring.
Luckily, though, today Taropaw is not staring simply to stare. She is not spacing out, interrogating the void, introspecting so hard she has pulled out push pins and started re-labeling her organs. No. Today there is something sparkling at the bottom of the gorge and Taropaw has decided that she wants it.
Humans – two-legs – walk the path from the farms to Fourtree’s on a not irregular basis. Ocassionally, a younger and rather impulsive one dives into the river to cool off. Given that two-legs are large, the rapids are less dangerous for them than a cat. These facts are relevant because the twinkling trinket which has caught Taropaw’s attention is a necklace. A sapphire necklace. Likely owned at some point by a rich old widow and then handed down to unappreciative grand-or-great-grand-children. Now it lays at the bottom of the gorge. The heart of the ocean tossed into the sea. Except this time it’s a river.
RiverClan cats have a collective habit of hoarding pretty things.
Taropaw is RiverClan through and through.
She wants the shiny thing.
So she’s going to get the shiny thing.
Of course, Taropaw is young. She is small, and she is as sure as the Dark Forest is evil that she cannot get it on her own. It would be stupid for a cat to jump in and get it on their own, anyways.
The young gray she-cat stalks back to camp on a mission, which is, to find a strong warrior just cocky enough that they would jump into the gorge just to prove they could and retrieve the necklace for her. It was simple. She would be their spotter. The glittering thing, which she did not know the name of, of course, or what it was used for, or why it was at the bottom of the gorge, was out a bit from the most turbulent part of the rapids. She wasn’t trying to send anyone to their death or anything – she wasn’t her mother. But when Taropaw has her mind set on something, she grasps it in her teeth and doesn’t let it go.
A veritable goal-biting alligator.
An alligator which is peering around camp for her victim – er, partner in crime?
Featherblossom was too soft. Swanpaw too small. She didn’t get along with Irispaw. (Why, no one is sure, but she just. Didn’t.) Sandhaze was… Sandhaze, and Salmoncreek looked busy. None of them were right. And then, Taropaw struck gold. Her ears straightened in the cat equivalent of a grin.
“Velvetfur!” The apprentice trotted towards him, dolling her typically dry voice up high and sweet. Forcing enthusiasm. “I’m sorry if you’re busy, I don’t want to trouble you. But I wanted to ask a favor.” _____________________________________________________________________________ the ties that bind, they are barbed and spined and hold us close forever though there is nothing would help me come to grips with a sky that is gaping and yawnin

Velvetfur » Hearing his name being called out had him instantly stretching his body out in a long, languid motion. He was slow in his movements, yet his muscles rippled underneath his pelt as fluid as the water in the river. His actions were similar to that of a snake uncoiling and extending its long body out to gather warmth from the sun. Calling him snakelike wasn't too far from the truth - he was sly and sneaky, a mere shadow among the rocks and pebbles that made up RiverClan's territory. He had been called a snake before, a few times actually, and every time those words fell from somebody's tongue it brought a wily smirk upon his visage. Velvetfur didn't think he was that bad of a cat, but he wasn't going to argue on what another thought about him. If anything he would argue that he was more like a fox for while a snake was slimy and untrustworthy, a fox was at least charming and mesmerizing in its own way. He was far better than a snake, but he wouldn't put himself on a pedestal higher than a fox.
Curious as to who was requesting his presence, Velvetfur finished his stretch and turned his head in the direction of the feminine voice. His tail twitched in faint surprise when he noticed none other than an apprentice calling for him. Now this was intriguing. He had expected a fellow warrior wanting to question him on whether or not he wanted to go outside on a hunt or even a border patrol - or perhaps he had simply attracted the affections of a molly that wanted to spend some quality alone time with the rosette-splashed tom, yet he was greeted with the sight of the sleek, blue molly known as Taropaw.
Interesting.
A sly smirk tugged at his lips as he raised an inquisitive look at the young molly. Velvetfur cocked his head to the side as he closed the distance between him and Taropaw. "Trouble me?" He questioned with a short chuff of amusement in his words. "I'm never troubled, especially if it means I get to help a fellow Clanmate. You know I'd never turn somebody down." Not exactly the truth, Velvetfur couldn't care less if he turned a cat down if he didn't feel like exerting any energy, but he typically lent a paw when asked. Declining others when they needed his help for whatever reason usually resulted in his name being tainted, soured by the words of those he had refused to help, and Velvetfur was here to make a good reputation of himself. He was a charmer, a flirt, and to win the hearts of those he wanted to tease then he needed to be on his best behavior. Helping Taropaw would certainly put some positive points on his name. A warrior helping an apprentice that wasn't their own to train looked good on any cat.
"So, what's this favor of yours?" His pale amber gaze looked down at Taropaw with a curiosity in their depths. "Can't find Timbersnarl, or have you just realized that spending time with me makes everything worth while?" Any cat should be honored to spend time with him, and Velvetfur was confident that even the Clan's apprentices realized how amazing he was. He truly was curious as to why Taropaw had sought him out, though. He knew he was charming, that most cats just couldn't get enough of him, but there had to be some specific reason for Taropaw to come to a cat like Velvetfur rather than her own mentor.

Stormchime Guppypool Stormchime glanced towards Guppypool with a shine in her eyes. Her whiskers twitching with amusement as she padded after the molly. She tried to picture a world without the other clans but it seemed like an unworldly. She wrinkled her nose. Stormchime wouldn't want to step foot in Shadowclan's disgusting territory even if they were given permission. "I think staying in Riverclan might be the best for us," she mused. Their territory was the superior one out of the five clans.
The gray and black molly scowled at Guppypool's back. She didn't have excuses. Her blue eyes followed She shifted on her paws, wanting to burst into the water but something help her back for a moment. "I actually like the work," Stormchime huffed with faux annoyed glance towards Guppypool. She liked staying busy, maybe one day soon, she would become a mentor. Even though, she didn't like Cloudstar. She still wanted to prove herself as an efficient warrior.
She rolled her eyes at the mention of other clan cats, "Oh yes because the other clans are just filled with handsome toms and beautiful mollies," she snarked before splashing into the water along with Guppypool. She let out a soft sigh, feeling the water tug at her fur. Stormchime leaned down to lap at the fresh water.
An ear twitched as she heard the question. Her blue eyes lifted from the river and frowned for a moment. She glanced towards the sky and shrugged her shoulders, "With this heat? Maybe," Stormchime mused, although she didn't sound too confident, "But maybe not."

Lilypetal "Nothing interesting, just a trout.", said Lilypetal, gazing proudly at the four trout she had caught on the trip so far. "What about you?". Seeing another trout, she hooked it with her claws, flung it onto the shore, and dealt the killing bite, all very cleanly and gracefully, and very, very quickly. She had had much more practice fishing then most RiverClan warriors.
Swanpaw Swanpaw daydreamed as he followed the rest of patrol. Catching the first prey, catching the most prey, all of the warriors being proud of him, even Salmoncreek, Lizardpaw finally noticing him, him being instantly made a warrior...

RiverClan camp ; with velvetfur ; im having too much fun writing taropaw and i think it shows oops
Taropaw wove tight circles around Velvetfur, greeting him, as cats do, with her tail held high in feigned glee.
“Oh Velvetfur, thank you!” She smiled, softly. Glanced up at him with glittering green doe eyes. Fluttered her eye-lashes, casually, she’s young, you see, she doesn’t want to send off any improper signals. Youth does necessitate naivety, though; not in any exact way.
Taropaw grew up in her observing cats much older than she manipulating their way around each other. Wills sparring in an intricate dance. It was more a SkyClan thing than a RiverClan thing, she supposes. RiverClan was too straight-forward. Most cats in RiverClan were obvious flirts. They didn’t bother to conceal it. Salmonwhisker and Jaegerwing were tumbling head over heels over head after any cat that looked their way. Tripping over their own egos. Velvetfur was running right behind them, though Taropaw was convinced his ego had actually lapped theirs and was coming around again. Salmonwhisker, at least, probably wouldn’t flirt with her. Taropaw was what, eight moons old? Velvetfur had dropped the game right at her feet. Except, he wasn’t really flirting, was he? He was just stroking his own ego in public. Imagining she looked up to him, maybe. Well, Taropaw would play the game right back. Watch her. Taropaw would pull out a billow and aim it right at his ego’s hearth. She was going to have some fun with it though.
“Well, you see. As a chore, Timbersnarl had me foraging for borage by the gorge, because, of course, he swore there’d be poor score on the moor. And I got distracted. Standing on that worn and boring shore, my attention was shorn by a gorgeous ore.”
Ok, the charm of the rhyming had worn off. That whole sentence was a lie. She was just trying to make things more entertaining. For herself. Maybe.
“Aaaanyways. I saw something shiny in the water. I don’t know what it is, but it’s super pretty. Maybe it’s a sign from StarClan! But I’m not a great swimmer yet, so I need a strong warrior like you to help me get it.”
Taropaw stopped her circling. She blinked, twice, for good measure. Long, slow blinks. A green light flickering on the other side of the river. Maybe there’s some symbolism. Maybe Taropaw just has green eyes.

Velvetfur » Velvetfur was crafty. He was a flirt. He was the exact kind of selfish cat that most would see as dimwitted when it came to the rules and safety of others, but for all of his faults, there was a little part of the charcoal tomcat that could tease out concerning details in a young apprentice’s story, and right now Taropaw’s poetic description of what had transpired had some features that caught his attention in a rather worrisome fashion. He wasn’t one to follow the rules, and he for sure wasn’t one to enforce the rules on any other feline, but at the molly’s explanation he had to stop and muse over what she had just told him.
The tomcat swiveled his ears in an upright position as he tilted his head ever so slightly, looking down at the smaller feline with a gleam in his eyes that told Taropaw he had caught her in her lie. Rather than look disappointed, his whiskers visibly twitched with amusement. ”Timbersnarl had you, an apprentice training to be a warrior, search for borage by the gorge, a place where apprentices are strictly forbidden to go alone? I question your mentor’s actions, Taropaw,” Velvetfur meowed, his voice as smooth as, well, velvet. ”I never thought of Timbersnarl to be the cat with minnows in his brain, but I suppose I’ve been proven wrong. Is that why you came to me then? You needed a cat who knows what he’s doing?” He was going to let the ‘paw know he had caught her right in the falsity of her words, but he wasn’t going to do anything more than point them out. Velvetfur knew what it was like to be an apprentice. He remembered his days of being a ‘paw, stuck inside camp unless his mentor dragged him out of camp for some boring lesson that, of course, Velvetfur excelled in on the first try. He remembered the suffocating boredom of having to endure lecture after lecture of what was wrong, what was right, and he had to admit that a lot of that he had ignored, but hey, he had been good enough to become a warrior on time. Though, it wasn’t like any cat would deny Velvetfur the chance to rise up in the ranks and become a -paw to a -fur. He had been warrior material since the moment of his birth. It was a wonder he wasn’t deputy just yet. Otterheart did a wonderful job, but did she have the same charisma that Velvetfur did? The dark-furred tomcat thought not.
These thoughts were snapped away from him when Taropaw’s voice entered his ears once more. He blinked, regaining his attention to the world outside of his mind.
Ah, there it was, the reason for Taropaw asking Velvetfur a favor.
Amusement moved through his whiskers once more as he followed the molly’s circling pawsteps until she came to a halt, her green eyes looking right at him. Some would perhaps find that uncomfortable, but Velvetfur was used to the eyes of other cats being glued to him - he was a sight to behold after all.
Velvetfur couldn’t fault the young molly for longing after something shiny, even if it was in a rather perilous area of the RiverClan territory. The gorge was not a place for cats to play around and to go after something they had spotted in the water, but StarClan would never grant anything bad to happen to a cat like Velvetfur. He’d be able to climb down the rocky slope with ease and retrieve this object for Taropaw without a problem. And even if he had some apprehension about all this, the curiosity of what this shiny object could possibly be would outweigh the worry - Velvetfur was just as true of a RiverClan warrior as any.
The warrior motioned with his tail for the apprentice to follow after him. ”Alright then. You’ve come to the right warrior. You’ll have whatever’s at the bottom of the gorge in no time. Just wait and see, no cat will be able to fetch it with the same speed and elegance that I can.”

Creekpaw At the River with Dewdrop ʙєωɪᴛᴄʜɪηɢ ηɪɢʜᴛѕʜαɗє ~ ~👻 Following her mentor away from the river, which still seemed to hold a level of treacherousness despite that lack of water, Creekpaw did as instructions and began to sniff the air. Many scents came to her some she recognized and others she didn't. It took her a while to hone in on the scent of prey, and when she finally did Dewdrop had just snuck ahead. By the time she realized the tom was on the scent trail of vole it was too late and he bad pinned the creature down. The dispatch of its life was clean and quick and Creekpaws eyes glowed with admiration as Dewdrop returned to her side. "That was awesome!" She exclaimed excitedly. Hopefully the young molly still held some luck in her paws, because now all she wanted was to match her mentor and make him proud. "Can I try to get the next one?! Please, oh please! I promise I won't let it get away. I'll stalk it quietly just like we practiced yesterday." The young mollys ramblings were quick to come to a halt as she waited for Dewdrops approval. She wanted so badly to prove herself a worthy apprentice, and an asset to the clan in such hard times.
