Pebblepaw//Medicine Den Loonfur purred in amusement at his apprentice's naivete. "You will soon find out that not every cat outside of the clans is evil, and not every cat inside the clans is good. And even so, the world isn't as black and white as my pelt. It is more like your paws- grey. And don't forget, we are not bound by the warrior code in the way that our clanmates are. Borders and boundaries do not hold meaning for us" Loonfur got up with a small stretch, looking down at his apprentice kindly. "Your education will not just include the herbs we use or the signs we interpret from StarClan. You will learn of the world around you, of the help you may find in the most unexpected of places" Sure, Loonfur had given Pebblepaw a similar speech back when he was first apprenticed, and he didn't mind retelling it whenever needed.
"Now let us go before the sun rises too far up in the sky. This drought has been a tiring one" With these words, Loonfur led Pebblepaw out of the camp. It was a long walk to the farm, and the further they could get before the heat was at it's worse, the better. "There are plenty of mint and raspberry leaves to be found there. However the barn is full of cobwebs, and you can steal honey from the bees that the twolegs keep if you're careful and lucky enough. Now, do you remember the uses of the supplies I just mentioned to you?" ♥𝔉𝔯𝔬𝔰𝔱ℜ𝔬𝔰𝔢♥

{Hey my dears. I'm heading off for the night. Thank you for everything. I won't really be on tomorrow, but will try to respond to anything that I am tagged in. I am working 6:30am-11pm tomorrow, so if I do post, it'll be slow and random. I hope you all have a wonderful night/day.}

“Who, me?” The she-cat mused, though her tone was still heavy and tired. She watched as the other apprentice stood beside her as he continued to mew happily, his loud voice coaxing her out of sleep a bit more abruptly than she would’ve preferred. As she stood and stretched, she considered Shellpaw with a titled head, ears pricked as she noticed the concern in his words. “No, no, Mockingjay would’ve been sticking their head in here soon enough. Besides, they know all my tricks already and we’d both get an earful if you tried that.” She didn’t mention that she didn’t think Shellpaw would do a very good job keeping her mentor’s attention without being suspicious, as she seemed to appreciate his thought regardless. She dipped into a deep stretch, arched up her back, then settled into spot besides the other apprentice; seeming more lively now. “You coming, Irispaw?” She meowed to the other tom in the den’s entrance, knowing the two of them were often the last to drag themselves out into the daylight. “Maybe if we go out together we can actually have a pleasant meal before getting sent in different directions,” she didn’t sound too optimistic, but she was hopeful she could get some fresh kill before going out. The pile was scarce due to the heat, so picking out something small and disappointing for herself had become quite the problem lately.

IRISPAW riverclan camp lizardpaw / ~∂єѕтιиу shellpaw / 𝑓𝑜𝑥 ------------------------------
"Hmm? What?" Irispaw turned to Lizardpaw. "Do what? Get some food? If yes, then I'm down. Didn't really eat last night, so I'm ready to sick my teeth into any fish." He flicked an ear. "Actually, I'm willing to do anything that doesn't involve Salmoncreek. Except for like, hunting herons. I hate herons, weird stick-birds." He shivered. "Hopefully they aren't around right now, I'd hate to run into a hungry heron." He plopped down to itch the the same spot he itched when he first woke up. If I got a bug bite I swear to StarClan I'll track that bug down and try and kill it...But it'll probably be too small, which sucks. He exhaled slowly. Hopefully it stops itching soon, or I won't be able to relax for a nice nap after sunhigh. He moved a few steps closer to the entrance. "Let's go...uh, do whatever we're going to do."

Cloudstar » It was hot.
While her pelt was sleek, it was thick, and the heat radiating off the sun lodged itself inside her fur, causing the leader to grow all the more uncomfortable with the temperature as time went by. With a slow movement she parted her jaws, tongue lolling out ever so slightly as she allowed herself a few panted breaths of air in hopes of cooling herself down. Logically she knew the best way to cool herself down was to head down to the river and let the water cool her down, but that was so far away - about ten fox-lengths from where she was. It would also mean she'd have to get down from her perch upon the willow branch she was currently lounging upon, and Cloudstar wasn't too fond of the idea of getting up. Moving only made it hotter, and that was the last thing the molly wanted.
Cloudstar closed her eyes in an attempt to ignore the sun; if she couldn't see the sun then that surely meant the sun couldn't beam down on her. It was pure logic.
So she lay there. Minutes went by, but the heat had yet to leave her body, and Cloudstar couldn't help but part her jaw wider and huff as her panting grew. Her throat was growing dry and scratchy, and at this point Cloudstar was almost compelled to get up and head down to the river to cool off. Almost. She also realized she could just continue to lay there, suffer, and lose a life to heat stroke, but at least dying meant she wouldn't have to leave her place on the willow branch. She had lives to spare; besides, it wasn't like she planned on getting herself into any life-threatening situations in the next few moons. If she didn't lose her lives in completely avoidable circumstances then how else was she going to lose them? Cloudstar was fond of living, but she didn't want to live forever and lead for more than her fair share. Cloudstar the immortal didn't have as nice a ring to it as Cloudstar the mortal did after all.
Unwilling to move, Cloudstar continued to lay there and bake in the sun's harsh heat. The longer she lay there the worse the heat got and the more she had to pant, but the willow branch was so comfortable. It was thick enough to hold her weight and long enough for her to stretch out and relax her body. It was almost like being in the water except she was in the air. This must be how SkyClan cats feel, the leader mused to herself. I should keep myself up here longer, to get a feel for how other Clans experience their lives. Understanding one another makes it much easier to keep the peace. Had she not been panting her lips would have pulled back into a smile, and had her throat not been as dry as it was she would have given a purr of delight.
What was probably an hour passed. Cloudstar had yet to move, and by now she was truly feeling the effects of the hot sun.
The leader's panting now came with the unpleasant side effect of drool that had pooled up inside her mouth and had nowhere else to go. She no longer felt hot - instead, she felt rather cool, like she actually had found her way to the river and slipped inside its comforting rapids. Another new addition along with everything else was the fact that she was dizzy, lightheaded really. Even with her eyes tightly shut Cloudstar felt as if she were spinning. She kept telling herself that she was fine, that she wasn't going to fall off the branch because she was securely laying down, but eventually the dizziness got to the point Cloudstar felt like she had no other choice but to jerk upward in an attempt to keep herself on the branch.
This, actually, had the opposite effect.
Unable to stop gravity, Cloudstar fell right out of the willow tree and landed onto the ground with a thud that cracked through her already hurting head.
The leader lay there on the ground, dazed. Fortunately she had landed and rolled into a patch of shade that was already much cooler on her body, but the heat from earlier was still trapped in her fur at the moment, wrapping her up inside and keeping her in its humid talons. Despite still being dizzy and in pain, at least she was in some shade.
Dazed and panting, Cloudstar lay stretched out in the shade, both unable and unwilling to pick herself back up onto her paws and act like a leader her Clan actually needed.

Salmoncreek with Featherblossom [ ♥𝔉𝔯𝔬𝔰𝔱ℜ𝔬𝔰𝔢♥ ] and Otterheart [ @stitchlover20 ] Riverclan Camp - Salmoncreek shrugged off the other warrior's touch of greeting, her whiskers twitching in mild annoyance. She had never been the touchy feely type, even the typical small gestures with her own clanmates. However, she did return the dip of Featherblossom's head, heaving a small sigh at the molly's teasing tone.
"Yes, yes, good morning and all the other pleasantries," She muttered, shaking her head. "There's too much Starclan-forsaken lounging going on around here. Everyone thinks they can sit around just because it's hot," Salmoncreek spit, a note of disgust to her tone. She sighed and licked at the fluffed up fur on her chest, trying to calm her rising temper. "At least you have the sense to see we can take out two birds with one stone; cooling down while we're fishing... if we can find a wide enough portion of river," She sighed.
The ruddy warrior watched Featherblossom's body language and nodded, taking a hint, leading the way towards where Otterheart sat at the head of the camp. She acknowledged the deputy with a polite dip of her wide head. "Good morning, Otterheart." The molly began. "I'd like to take out a hunting patrol, along with Featherblossom," She asked, sounding a little more demanding than she did questioning. "... If that's alright with you. And maybe have your recommendation for a few other cats to accompany us."

- - Frecklebee [ Feathertalon] Born and raised in RiverClan had made Frecklebee rather used to cool temperatures and plenty of water, however this was far too hot for comfort. It felt as if her fur was sticking to her skin in an uncomfortable way, her whiskers burned as if they were melting, her paws were sticky with sweat, and it felt as if her back legs were melting. Frecklebee glanced back over to her mangled legs. If she didn’t know any better, she’d say that by the looks of them, they were melting. Of course she did know better though, and even though she hadn’t completely lost feeling in them, it still wasn’t a picnic to use them. Still, if she was hot, she could only imagine how hot her mate: Cloudstar was; while they were both fluffy, Frecklebee looked like a hairless vole compared to the fluff that the current leader of RiverClan possessed, and with all that fur, she was sure to be hot. Pushing herself up to her feet, Frecklebee slowly made her way from underneath the shade of the old willow and looked up towards the sky. She was pretty sure Cloudstar was still here, but she wanted to make sure. “Cl-“ before she could continue, the leader in question fell from the tree, hit her head, and rolled off into the shade. Frecklebee blinked. That...that looked painful. Trying to pick up the speed, Frecklebee hurried you catch up to her rolling mate. “Cloudstar! Are you okay?”

- - Mistypaw [ lazy penguin] The heat was the absolute worst thing there could ever be, especially if you were like Mistypaw and made up for the lack of height she possessed with an insane amount of fluff. The kind of fluff that was so thick that it kept her warm in even the coldest leafbare nights. However this wasn’t leafbare, she wasn’t cold, she was hot. Too hot to sleep. Groaning, Mistypaw turned over on her nest to poke at her littermate. “Hey Gullpaw, hey, hey, hey Gullpaw-“ She called out to him, pawing at her brother’s face. “It’s too hot to sleep, do you wanna do something? We could go down to the river and catch some fish, I bet our mentors would be proud of us,” she suggested, still pawing at his face. Mistypaw honestly probably had a lot more free time than most apprentices did. Her mentor was Cloudstar, and while having the leader be your mentor was pretty great for bragging purposes, it wasn’t actually all that great when it came down to actual training. Still though, Mistypaw could put her free time to good use, and maybe she could do some hunting while she was at it. Especially if she could convince Gullpaw to come with her.

starter for antlerpaw-
If there was one thing they were glad they were, it was being a morning person. If there was one thing they hated, it was being a morning person. Antlerpaw had, ever since they were a kit, woken up before sunrise- and ,of course, such had been the case today as well. They liked the quiet morning hours, although having nothing to do before everyone else woke up was- for lack of a better word- boring. Antlerpaw never liked sitting still, unless they were focused. Antlerpaw didn't like not doing. "Not" was one of their least favorite words- because it implied a lack of, and because they had gotten too used to hearing "that is not the correct way to do this."
But, regardless, Antlerpaw sat by the edge of camp, having pushed aside the reeds so they could watch the sun rise. They kept a paw in the river in front of them- both to resist the heat, and because there was something so soothing in how the water ran around them.

Creekpaw Camp || Open & Dewdrop ʙєωɪᴛᴄʜɪηɢ ηɪɢʜᴛѕʜαɗє ~ ~👻 The heat that came from the rising sun jolted Creekpaw awake. For a brief second the mostly white molly felt as if she had slept last morning and into sun high. Rising from her nest on sleepy paws the apprentice exited the den and allowed her confusion to dissolve. "Ugh I can't believe it's already this hot out", the grumbling complain was accompanied by a look of disapproval. This young molly had yet to experience the heat of green leaf having been bore in leaffall, however so far Creekpaw held a great multitude of disdain for the heat. Giving her pelt a few licks to rid herself of the disheveled look she acquired from sleeping all Creekpaw could think about was jumping into the cold water to relieve herself from this weighing heat. 'Maybe Dewdrop will take me fishing or swimming...' The though was a hopeful one, and having finished up grooming herself the young apprentice set about to find her mentor. "Dewdrop?", she called tentatively as she neared the warriors den. Hopefully she was loud enough for him to hear her, but quiet enough to not upset possible sleeping warriors.

Timbersnarl Camp || Open - Otterheart @stitchlover20
Timbersnarl was quick to exit the warriors den passing little Creekpaw on his way out. The young molly seemed to be in search of her mentor, still too young and inexperienced to leave camp by herself. The dark cream tom set his focus to the warriors that were already up and about. Otterheart already seemed to have a gathering crowd of warriors waiting for their daily assignment, and Timbersnarl quickly joined in. "Morning Otterheart", he meowed formally hoping to direct the deputies attention his way. The quick her was seen the quicker he was be assigned a task, or so he thought.

Breezewhisker was out hunting. He had chosen a place where there was some water and at the least chance of minnows. The drought the forest was facing had caused major concerns for RiverClan. The gray warrior wondered how Cloudstar and Otterheart would deal with the drying riverbed. "Sunningrocks could have some prey. Surely we can take it from ThunderClan, right?" he asked himself as he waited for movement in the water. Seeing a quick flash, the tabby quickly plunged his paw into the water. He felt his claws rake something but whatever he was trying to grab escaped. Cursing to himself, Breezewhisker turned his head to the direction of Sunningrocks. The idea still lingering in his mind.

Gullpaw
apprentice den | early morning | Mistypaw (𝕊’𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕖 )
Despite his usual constant energy, Gullpaw slept like a rock. Maybe it was the world's way of counteracting his hyper tendencies. Sure he could swim laps in the river all day long- but he was going to crash as soon as the sun went down.
This morning, however, he was just starting to stir when his sister poked him. "The river?" he yawned, taking a heartbeat to open his eyes and stretch.
Not even a half-second later, he was on his feet. "That sounds like fun, we should totally do that!" He couldn't stop himself from bouncing in place as he spoke. "I'm sure Ripplestep would be so proud of me," he continued puffing out his chest. "He's be all like 'Gullpaw you've proven yourself to be the best apprentice in the clan, I couldn't be more proud of you and I'm going to ask Cloudstar to just make you a warrior now.'" Turning towards his sister, he gave his chest a few embarrassed licks. "Uh- and I'm sure Cloudstar would act the same for you! We'll be made warriors together! I'll be Gullstalker and you'll be Mistystrike or something really cool and really awesome!"

[ I could toss Beefur at Pollencloud if you wanted? Or you could have Grasspaw butt into the Gullpaw & Mistypaw shenanigans? Not sure if you already had starters for them or not tho ] Either is fine with me. Grasspaw is really serious so shenanigans aren't his thing but it could be fun to have him secretly judging his friends. Pollencloud is bug, kind of clumsy but kind of a showoff so his showoff attempts often end up poorly though he's arrogant enough to think that he did pretty well)

Sandhaze with Cricketdance // in camp ≈≈ ꕥ ≈≈ The molly's tail-tip twitched beside her as her mind wandered, having drifted away from the drought crisis and settling on the more comforting topic of her son. Shellpaw was growing like a weed and his training appeared to be going well. Sandhaze smiled distractedly at the thought of her kit, who looked almost exactly like her. She didn't see any of his father in him. And a good thing too. Her son was already leagues better than the tom who'd helped create him.
So deeply lost in her own thoughts, Sandhaze jumped a bit when Cricketdance spoke to her. Her icy gaze slid to the older warrior before dipping her head in greeting. A small laugh escaped her at the blue molly's comments, accepting the teasing with ease. It had been fish-brained of her to sleep outside, now she had to face the music.
"Yes, I'm aware. It got a little hot in there last night however... Plus, Rushfeather was snoring loud enough to wake the dead," she replied, humor in her tone. The younger tom hadn't been the only tom snoring, but he was the loudest of them - at least to the siamese. It might have something to do with how close their nests were. "So I decided sleeping out under the stars would be a better alternative," she admitted, somewhat sheepishly. The molly stretched out her legs until her shoulders popped, feeling a bit more loose after she did so.
Grayrain with Pebbleskip // Babbling Brook ≈≈ ꕥ ≈≈
"That would be convenient," Grayrain agreed, nodding his head as he looked dismally at their fading river. Their food source was drying up and to be honest, the gray tabby missed having a good swim. The tom closed his eyes and let the breeze caress his fur, enjoying the brief reprise from the heat. Pebbleskip was right about the wind, it was a smart idea to take advantage of the wind.
Skeptically peering at the shallow water, the tom shrugged his shoulders. "I guess we should try," his tone didn't hold a ton of hope for success. There should at least be a few minnows hanging around, if they were lucky.
With a shake of his pelt, the tom got to his feet and padded towards the water, letting the damp mud lightly coat his paw pads. It was chalky and definitely not as satisfying as it used to be. "This is just depressing," he muttered, narrowing his amber eyes.

Beefur
Beefur was not a fan of the heat. Sure warmth was usually a pleasant surprise, and the sun on her fur simply delightful- but the constant stream of blistering heat and humidity was enough to drive even the most sun-loving cat mad.
Her paws itched to go down to the river for a swim- but she knew that if she left alone she'd look like she was skipping out on her warrior duties. And like sure, she knew that during times of drought warriors needed to work hard to provide for their clan, but she had been "working hard" for the past three days. Surely she deserved a break?
So too avoid drawing too much attention, she planned on taking another warrior or two with her. Maybe a newer apprentice so I can push them around a little. That way they won't rat me out to Otterheart.
[ sorry it's kinda short! ]

Cricketdance leaned backwards as the other she-cat jumped, having not meant to startle her. She settled once Sunhaze did, dipping her head half-heartily in a lazy attempt to acknowledge the younger warrior’s greeting. “That’s understandable. It certainly is a bit stuffy in there,” she chuckled with the warrior’s next words, shrugging a bit. “You learn to sleep through it, or I suppose you get used to sleeping outside.” She glanced around camp as she spoke, mellow blue eyes watching her clanmates curiously as they exited their dens with yawns and stretches. She tossed her head to the direction of the ebbing darkness in the sky as Sunhaze went on, flicking her tail. “I’m sure sleeping under Silverpelt has its perks, so I won’t judge you too terribly; though I’ll keep to my nest, personally.” She looked back to her company, curious what she’d been so distracted by previously but not quite curious enough to ask. “With the river being low, I might see fit to spend the day in camp. Should a opportunity present itself, I suppose, I might follow up on a patrol that seems exciting enough. You?” She sat herself down, a single blue-grey ear pointed to the other she-cat as she kept her attention on the activity in camp.

That's "kind of short"? Lol that's more than I'm likely to do) Pollencloud Pollencloud lay panting in the shade, inside a small hole he dug to seek some sort of relief from the heat. Which is thick fur and broad, stocky body, he was certainly not built for the heat. He'd been tossing around the idea of going swimming but didn't yet desire to leave the slightly cool hole, much less refill it so there wouldn't just be a hole in the ground.

Apprentice's Den - Shellpaw watched as Lizardpaw moved and spoke, blue eyes clouded with confusion. He had never been able to get a good read on the she-cat, usually finding it impossible to tell what she was actually thinking or feeling. Shrugging, Shellpaw figured it wasn't that important. Lizardpaw didn't seem to be actually angry with him... he thought. Who knew. Not Shellpaw.
The tom felt relieved when the she-cat invited Irispaw up with the duo, shooting the tom a smile. The possibility of a nice meal shared between the denmates sounded like a good way to start his day and the tom's stomach grumbled at the thought. "Yea, that's a great idea," He agreed with Lizardpaw and Irispaw. "I'm sure Salmoncreek, Basscloud, and Mockingjay will give us time to eat before training," The apprentice thought out loud hopefully. "As well as the herons... for now." The tom purred in amusement.

Boulderheart with BreezewhiskerRiver
Boulderheart, having been woken by a bad dream, had decided to go out hunting in the morning. The drying of the river was concerning, and he knew that his clanmates would be greatly for any addition to the fresh-kill pile. He found himself near Sunningrocks, looking out over them. He flexed his claws, itching to battle ThunderClan for the territory that should clearly belong to RiverClan.
Boulderheart's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a cat cursing. He spotted Breezewhisker by the river, looking towards Sunningrocks. "Hey!" Boulderheart called, approaching his clanmate. "How's the fishing going?" He didn't really need to ask - fishing wasn't really going well for anyone, not with the river so dry. Really, he was wondering if Breezewhisker might be having similar thoughts about Sunningrocks.
Jaysong - OpenRustling Willow Jaysong didn't like the heat one bit. He liked leaf-fall, or leafbare, when things were quiet and sleepy. Yes, the cold could be unpleasant, but the heat went right through Jaysong and tired him. The business and heat of camp had stressed him out, so he'd slipped out of camp and went to a place of the territory that he loved - the rustling willow. He was totally content to just sit underneath the shade of the great tree, watch the river, and listen to the sounds of birds.

Pebbleskip with Grayrain (little blu ♥ ) || Location: Babbling Brook
The molly sighed sadly. She wanted to be angry but, she just couldn't manage that kind of energy, plus who would she be angry at? The river? Starclan? She couldn't be mad at Starclan! "Incredibly so, yeah. Maybe if we get further downstream there'll be something more?" Her voice feigned a hopeful tone as her eyes followed the river, face falling the longer she watched. Pebbleskip padded a few steps, front paws barely hitting the edge of the receding water. Her eyes desperately watched for any sign of a minnow swimming around, finding nothing she looked back to Grayrain for his response.

The RiverClan warrior was startled by Boulderheart's greeting. When asked about fishing, the tom was reminded of his failed attempt to catch whatever he saw. He winced when he made the mistake of looking directly at the white warrior. In the sunlight, his pelt was very bright. "Fishing is going about as well as a kit staying out of trouble." Breezewhisker mewed. He took one more glance at Sunningrocks before turning his full attention to his Clanmate. "Cloudstar will need to do something soon. I'm sure Streamwatcher and Frecklebee are complaining about the lack of fish." he huffed. Of course, anything caught had to be eaten sooner. The heat made their prey rot quickly. The gray tabby shuddered as he remembered being sick the other day from making such a mistake. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf

“One could hope so,” Lizardpaw purred in agreement to Shellpaw’s words. Her whiskers twitched happily as Irispaw agreed to come along as well, nodding in agreement to the reassurance that the tom at her side had to offer. “Herons don’t usually come into camp, so we’re probably safe in that regard, but let’s get moving before those three get bored of letting us live in peace.” She quickened her pace and lead the way out of the den, moving quickly for a cat with such a heavy and leisurely stride. She did a quick scan for a sign of any of the trios mentors, then proceeded towards the freshkill pile with a satisfied flick of her tail. Approaching the pile seemed to become increasingly disheartening in recent times, seeing the usually plentiful load dwindle and occasionally smell rather foul in the severe heat. She kept her head up, however, as she came to a prompt stop over the collection of fresh kill. “Any preference in what we should share? I’m not a picky eater myself, but I never know who’s selective these days.” She seemed to be teasing, speaking without any actual interest in what either of the two toms wanted and more-so with the interest of filling time as she nosed through the pile. She pawed at a plump looking water shrew, considering the slightly more unique option for a moment, then moved onto the fish resting near it. “Any complaints?” She asked before grabbing it in her jaws and glancing back to the two.

Beefur
Beefur as very close to just leaving camp alone when she spotted Pollencloud panting in the shade. Perfect, she thought to herself. A clanmate who won't badger me about not doing work or be extremely annoying and ruin my relaxation.
Padding over to the young tom, she couldn't help but feel a moment of happiness. Today she'd focus on herself and she'd have a clanmate to talk to if she got bored. "Hey Pollencloud!" she called joyfully. "I was thinking about heading down to the river to swim and maybe catch a few fish, you want to come?" Twitching her whiskers at his self-dug hole she added, "You'll cool off faster in the water!"

- - Mistypaw [ lazy penguin] There was that boundless energy she had become accustomed to. Mistypaw wasn’t as overly energetic as her brother was, in fact she usually would be the kind to sleep in all day if given the chance. However it was too hot for that and she needed the kind of cool mist from the river. Letting out a quiet purr, Mistypaw got up and shook, causing her fur to poof out even more than usual. “You know, if anyone else had this much energy in the morning, I’d claw their ears off,” she joked lightly...though it wasn’t too far off. Mistypaw wasn’t exactly known for her patience, it was only because Gullpaw was her brother that she not only put up with his energy but also found it a little endearing, in a “that’s my annoying littermate but I love them” kind of way. Stretching, Mistypaw listened as Gullpaw continued. “If I got to pick my warrior name, it would be something like...Mistyslayer or Mistykiller, something fierce that would let everyone know not to mess with me,” she explained as she began to pad out of the apprentice’s den.
