B E E P A W in the apprentice's den, accompanied by the apprentices
In his dreams, Beepaw was as large as a warrior of LionClan. He was proud and sure-footed. He wasn't surrounded by fuzzy heads and a humid den, but when he opened his eyes, that was all he saw. Outside of his dreams, he was small, and sleepy, and disappointed.
Lifting his head, Beepaw looked towards the foot that had poked him. As usual, it belonged to Flutterpaw. The younger apprentice had never failed to wake him in the morning. She was as constant as a cricket by his ear. While it announced the night, she announced the morning. He had come to treat her with the same comfortable indifference.
"Thank you for waking me up, Flutterpaw..."
His words were routine—mumbled as he fought to keep his eyes open. He parted his jaws to yawn, and they cracked painlessly. His ear twitched, but he acknowledged it in no other way. Instead, he let his chin fall onto his nest again.
The den was hot and cramped, as it always was. It felt like a new apprentice was placing their nest next to his every moon. It was mornings like these that made him grateful to be their senior. The sooner he earned his warrior name, the cooler he would be at night—or so he assumed. The warrior's den had to be bigger than this one, right?
"Isn't it too hot to wake up today?" he asked. For the first time, he seemed to genuinely acknowledge Flutterpaw. He looked to her for an answer, but he didn't wait for it as he rolled onto his back. The soft fur covering his belly rose and fell as he let out a long, groaning sigh.
"If you ask me, Cardinalpaw has the right idea," he meowed as he looked towards the ruddy tom. He looked like a cat-shaped lump of clay from his perspective, and he stretched his paws towards him, itching to bat at his fox-like tail. He couldn't reach him though, so he tucked his paws against his chest.
"It's just too hot...!" he mused as he closed his eyes. "Too hot..."

Hopperpaw With the buds The spotted apprentice was resting peacefully in his nest. His dreams were filled with tall trees and a squirrel that kept on escaping his grasp. It might be annoying dream to some, but to Hopperpaw's subconscious, it brought the young tom a sense of peace.
Something poked his shoulder. It felt sharp. Hopperpaw frowned in his sleep, confused why the squirrel would be interacting with him suddenly. One of his ears twitched, hearing faded noises of hisses. The tom's green eyes slowly blinked open in the dim of the den. He slowly moved his head around his nest, stubbornly not lifting it off the soft moss. His gaze flickered the sleeping apprentices, realizing that it must be morning already. Shame, I was going to get that squirrel, he mused inwardly.
But not all of the apprentices were asleep, Hopperpaw figured out with amusement as he took note of Flutterpaw. "Good morning," he muttered with a light purr, directed to his friend.
Hopperpaw's green gaze flickered towards Beepaw, hearing his mumbled words. His green eyes bright, which wasn't surprising. The apprentice was the type that once he awoke in the morning, he stayed awake. "You know its only going to get more hot as the sun rises?" Hopperpaw inputted with a helpful tone.

»𝔽𝕝𝕦𝕥𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕡𝕒𝕨« »𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕓𝕠𝕪𝕤 //𝕔𝕒𝕞𝕡« ↦↦✿↤↤ Flutterpaw did a quick turn to face Beepaw, placing a firm paw on his chest. She certainly wasn't going to deny that she liked the feeling of him actually asking her a question and giving her acknowledgement, it was rather infrequent he did this. She stuck her tongue out at him. "Hopperpaw is right, Beepaw, you should wake up and enjoy the day while you can. It'll just get too hot for us later on, imagine how I feel! My fur is so long it's like if you were coated in feathers and had to drag those around all day in the heat." She let a short hmph out, sitting back down but keeping her paw on him. She definitely forgot to remove it, at least that was what she told herself. "Come on Beepaw, Foxpaw is about to be dragged away which means all four of us won't be together again till this evening!" Well, technically, she didn't mind her brother being gone. It wasn't that she hated him, no, in fact she adored her brother. Though she felt like he always got in the way of her time with Beepaw, a part of her felt like her brother didn't approve of her growing crush on the yellow tom before her. That couldn't be right though, could it? Why wouldn't he approve? Wasn't Beepaw a good tom? He seemed like a good tom, at least to her even if he didn't show the slightest bit of interest in her crush.
She finally removed her paw, turning away from him. She was a signature pouter, had been since she was a kit. The main reason it wasn't working now was the fact she kept looking over her shoulder to see if he would notice her.

♥𝔉𝔯𝔬𝔰𝔱ℜ𝔬𝔰𝔢♥Tigertail had taken to Thistlepaw as soon as he had gotten a proper look at the kid the day before he was apprenticed to him. His most recent apprentice- and, perhaps, his last, Thistlepaw was very much reminiscent of what Tigertail had been like at that age. A brown tuft of fur, brave, outspoken, but with an edge to him... For a moment, Tigertail felt himself back in the sandy hollow as it had appeared all those moons ago, a young apprentice, his mentor serenely watching over him as he chased his brothers... But his brothers were gone now, and so was his mentor, and the nearly-forgotten memory faded as soon as it came. Tigertail sauntered towards Thistlepaw as he saw the young tom bound out of his apprentice den, before sitting down in front of him. He clicked his tongue, thinking of something he could train the young tom today. Just because he had mentored so many apprentices didn't mean he had gotten any quicker at it, which was, perhaps, a good thing. Kids these days and their fast mentoring- it's almost as if they take mentorship to be a race. "Today, Thistlepaw," -the old memory rose to the surface yet again- "we shall train at the sandy hollow."

fireflycloud -- ☾ѕησσzє☽ ;; thunderclan camp The rest of the Clan was beginning to stir, that was Fireflycloud’s cue to get busy as well. She spotted Cinderfall across the clearing greeting her apprentice, Foxpaw. Remembering her own mentor duties, she decided to find Foxpaw’s sister, Flutterpaw, and work on some training before it got too hot later in the day. Commotion within the apprentice’s den hinted at where she might find her apprentice.
Fireflycloud paused before the entrance, fighting nerves. She shouldn’t be nervous, it was just her apprentice. But what if she was still sleeping? Or what if she came off as rude for asking her to train? Was she being too assertive? Or not assertive enough? Nearby, she spots Tigertail speaking with Thistlepaw. The other warriors make it look so easy…
Taking a deep breath, the calico molly peered into the apprentice den, finding Flutterpaw wide awake, talking to Beepaw and Hopperpaw. “O-oh good, you’re awake. Um, good morning, F-Flutterpaw,” so far, so good. “How about we go train a-at the Sandy Hollow while it’s still cool out…” She paused, wondering if she should say anything else. Maybe it’d be better to ask if Flutterpaw wanted to train. Or… No, that’s not what good mentors do, right? Was she doing this right? Why did Rainstar give her an apprentice?

Monarchstorm
Monarchstorm was ready for the day to be over. Rolling over in her nest, she let out a loud sigh. Sure, her clanmates could sleep wonderfully through a heat wave, but with her long pelt most nights she sat awake suffering. Shaking out her fur, she rose to her feet and padded out of her den. Maybe tonight I'll try sleeping out in the forest- it might be cooler, she thought to herself. In the meantime I should probably find Cardinalpaw.
Walking over the the apprentice den gave her time to plan out a schedule for the day. If she hadn't been bored out of her mind, she probably would have had the tom clean out the elder's den while she headed out on a patrol. Instead, she thought they'd go hunting, maybe by a stream or some source of water so she could cool down.
Walking past Tigertail and Fireflycloud, she stuck her head into the entrance of the den. "Cardinalpaw, time to wake up. Meet me by the fresh-kill pile when you're ready to be useful to your clan." Sure, maybe it was a bit harsh, but she was tired and she didn't feel like babying her apprentice like other mentors' did. Cardinalpaw didn't need another mother, he needed someone to teach him how to survive.

Cardinalpaw with Monarchstorm // in camp ϟ ϟ ☁ ϟ ϟ
The tom slept blissfully unaware through his den-mates conversations, his sleep was akin to death that way. There were few things that would be able to wake him up. He rolled over in his nest, tossing his legs about and letting out a soft groan. While his fur wasn't too long, it was a bit thick, particularly around his chest and tail, making it bush out. The heat was starting to sink into his fur, making him uncomfortable. Luckily for Cardinalpaw, one of the few things that was able to wake him up was the sound of his mentor's voice. The young tom jerked awake, mid snore, clearly disgruntled. His bright green eyes flew to the entrance but Monarchstorm had already left, leaving him to stare after her in confusion. The young tom didn't waste time, scrambling to his paws, ignoring the moss that clung to his fur and rushing after the long-furred molly. He burst past his den-mats and the other warriors and skidded to a halt beside Monarchstorm. "Wha-What's going on?" the tomcat asked, clearly still half-asleep but eager to not be left behind by his mentor. Cardinalpaw hadn't even registered her words, just peered up at her curiously.

Monarchstorm
Monarchstorm felt her whiskers twitch at her apprentice's oblivious nature. She knew what it was like to be woken up with no context, and so she paused near the center of camp. "I figured we go out hunting today, since it's still so hot," she explained with a wave of her tail. "I was thinking we'd head towards the Clear Spring Brook- in a heat wave like this prey will flock to water. But if you had any other ideas my ears are open." They weren't really. She had pretty much made her mind up about hunting near the brook, but giving Cardinalpaw the illusion of a choice would hopefully make him feel better about the final decision.
"If you need to grab something to eat before we head out, go ahead. I might ask Dawntangle about taking you and Murkpaw out for some training tonight when the sun won't sap all your energy away."

Heatherdance The blue-gray molly had no problem with the new recruitment of their party. She was excited to go out hunting like Amberblaze and once she heard squirrels she couldn't help but giggle a little bit. She liked catching the fuzzy vermin around; but they got tiring. The molly is no longer picky on what she wants to hunt. "Squirrels are fun to chase for sure," she said with a bit of laugh. She of course greater Honeyblaze with a purr.
"Good morning," she said with a mew, "doing fine and how are you?" The blue-gray molly was interested and talking but her energetic side kept nagging her for them to go and hunt. It annoyed her she wanted to just sit and talk at times. Although in this case, Sundapple did give them a job to do and she didn't want to anger the deputy. "Are we ready to go or do you guys want to eat first?" she asked since she already ate she could keep them company and talk for a bit more.

Cinderfall//Apprentice Den Foxpaw was a little conflicted when Cinderfall came to retrieve him from the apprentice den. Of course he wanted to learn, wanted to train, but he was still undeniably curious as to just what Flutterpaw and the others were planning to do before they could be retrieved as well. Carefully stretching, he padded over a few of the other apprentices on his way out. "I'll see you later Flutterpaw, don't do anything I wouldn't do!" he mewed before joining Cinderfall.
It was just as hot outside as it was in the apprentice den, although now he had to deal with the beating sun rather than the body heat of a bunch of cats just as warm as he was. His ears dropped slightly, one twitching in discomfort. The only thing stopping Foxpaw from complaining was the internal reminder that he wasn't a kit anymore. He couldn't whine about any little thing. "What are we going to do first Cinderfall? Is it fighting? Hunting? Will it be somewhere shaded?" He was particularly hoping for a yes on the last question. Any sort of reprieve from the heat would be a blessing.

Cinderfall Cinderfall looked at her apprentice and felt nervous. "Actually I'll be taking you around the territory getting used to our scent and training about the other clan's sent too," she said. "I'll try my best to make sure they'll be enough shade it is pretty hot out here." The gray tabby mewed uncomfortable feeling the heat grow under her fur. She then looked at Foxpaw and felt bad she wanted to do some training other than scents. She had an idea and gave a lighthearted purr. "After that would you like to do some hunting?" she asked.
The tabby molly move closer to the entrance of the camp turning around to see if her apprentice was following her. She often got ahead of herself and waited up for him. Instead of being silent and awkward, she decided to break the ice and say something. "How are you enjoy being an apprentice?" she asked it was an odd question to her but it was the only thing she could think of. She had hoped she wasn't being a terrible mentor but she mentally smacked herself not allowing herself to think those thoughts.

thunderclan camp & morning While Rainstar was originally going to wait to bother Sundapple, her eyes caught sight of her older sister, Dapplefern. From the look of it, the warrior didn't get much sleep last night. Sighing and shaking her head, the leader felt the urge to intercept Dapplefern. When she was in a mood like this, she would be especially difficult. Sundapple didn't need to deal with her at this time of day. Hurrying over, Rainstar mewed a greeting the brown tabby. "Dapplefern, morning!" Her voice was cheerful, but her eyes narrowed the moment Dapplefern shot a glare at the calico. "Rainstar. Morning." Annoyed wouldn't be the exact word to describe the older warrior's tone but due to their relationship, Rainstar let it slide. It wouldn't be the last time Dapplefern had a stick stuck up her ass. Rainstar would be curious as to what bothered her but this wasn't the morning to deal with her excessive moodiness. Instead, she continued conversing with the warrior. "Mind going on a patrol? Sundapple is getting a little swamped. Everyone really seems active today. Why don't you take..." she trailed off, scanning the camp. Turning and flicking her head, she caught two cats that could maybe persevere through a patrol. "Birchlight and Dovestripe?" Rainstar's ears flattened when Dapplefern spat at the order. Before the she-cat could argue, Rainstar hushed her with a light swipe. "If you were our leader and you asked me to join him, I would do it. You'll be fine, he can't do anything besides annoy you and you certainly won't die from that. You were apprenticed with Dawnflower and here we are." She left her mouth open, realizing that mentioning their other sister wasn't the best idea. It would be some emotional baggage to unpack later. "Just go. I'll join you later to eat if that makes you happy. I can get Fennelpaw and Coltpaw to join if they want." The leader watched as Dapplefern called for Dovestripe and stepped up to Birchlight. It was such a convenience for Rainstar. The last thing she heard before joining her deputy's side was, "Rainstar wants us to go on a patrol. Acorntuft |x| Nursery |x| Ivyfalcon
Being in the nursery without any kits was uncanny. It happened frequently enough so the situation wasn't completely strange, but it still felt odd to sleep in a place where such vibrant life was typically present. Instead, there was just thick silence and oppressive heat.
Sometimes, when the nursery lacked any nesting queens like this, Acorntuft would sleep in the warrior's den to be closer to the others- Cloverleaf especially. But with the weather as warm as it was, sleeping in a separate den from the rest of the clan had its perks. Hopefully this heat wave wouldn't last.
Slowly rising to her feet, the she-cat pulled her way to the front of the nursery, taking a seat in the rim of shade the den entrance offered. Here, at least, she could keep an eye on the clan, even as she worked on yawning away the last of her exhaustion. She was, of course, looking for one cat in particular. But that didn't mean she wasn't keeping an ear open on the conversations of others.
Those would be useful later.

The heat was so oppressive, she wished she could just curl up and go back to sleep, but unfortunately she figured it was too hot to even do that. She stood up, flexing her paws in an effort to wake herself up a bit more.
After coming out of the warriors’ den, the first place Cloverleaf headed to was the nursery, like every morning, to see Acorntuft. Her heart quickened with excitement as she spotted her silhouette in the entrance of the den. She rapidly approached her mate, purring as she got close to her. “Good morning, Acorntuft! How are you?” she asked, wrapping her tail around Acorntuft’s.

dovestripeaccompanied by dapplefern & birchlight | camp The moment Dovestripe heard his name being called for a patrol was quite a relief to the tom. However, that changed immediately when he saw who he had to go on a patrol with. "Greeaaat. Dapplefern, just the cat I love to spend my mornings with," he mewed sourly, eyeing the brown tabby as if she were a measly piece of prey. She had always been a pain in every cat's rump in his opinion, so he knew his day was already a waste. He then turned towards Birchlight and greeted her with a cheerful, soft mew. "Morning, Birchlight."
The grey tabby listened to the patrol's options as his ears flicked irritatingly from the stale air. "Well, that's easy. I vote for patrol," he chimed in. "I'm sure that there are plenty of cats heading out for a hunt right now. It's best we get to the borders and mark them before any of the other clans do."
To say the least, Dovestripe was one who enjoyed being in control. He knew he would refuse any suggestions Dapplefern would make because, frankly, she had already peeved him off. He wasn't going to back down either, especially when their patrol was an odd number and he could easily swing things his way. Birchlight seemed obedient enough to agree with him. Birchlight with Dovestripe and Dapplefern ThunderClan Camp Birchlight blinked sleep out of her eyes as Dapplefern grabbed her for a patrol. She was far from reading cats, but it was clear to even her that the brown tabby was not in the best mood. Birchlight hadn't intended on doing anything to set her off, anyway - she preferred to do as she was told and make things easier for everyone. It didn't help that Dapplefern was the leader's sister.
She returned Dovestripe's greeting with a small dip of her head, letting him give his opinion on what their patrol should do. When he suggested a border patrol, she nodded. "Dovestripe's right," she agreed - no doubt he'd think of it was just obedience to a senior warrior, which it was in part, but he was genuinely making sense. "We're not too desperate for food right now, others going out hunting will be enough. Plus, it's important to check our borders in case some of the more desperate clans think they can take from us." Birchlight looked at Dapplefern, hoping that she hadn't had her heart set on hunting. The molly being in even worse of a mood than she already was wouldn't be good.

Cardinalpaw with Monarchstorm // in camp ϟ ϟ ☁ ϟ ϟ
Cardinalpaw listened as attentively as he could, seeing as he’d just woken up and was still trying to remember how to fully function. Some of his mentor’s words had blurred together to his sleep addled brain but he got ‘hunt’ and ‘Clear Spring Brook’. Shaking his head, which helped to clear some of the cobwebs, he offered a cheeky little grin.
“Nope, sounds good to me, Monarchstorm. As long as I don’t have to get my paws wet,” he replied, lifting his pure white paw as he chuckled playfully. The ruddy tom shook himself firmly, sending moss flying off his pelt, though a single stubborn piece seemed content to hang off his shoulder fur. Glancing up at Monarchstorm, the tom shrugged his shoulders.
“I just woke up, I’m not hungry. A training session with Murkpaw sounds cool though!” he said, clearly more awake by the second. The idea of getting out in the territory and training had that effect on the tom.

Rainstar nodded and rolled her eyes at her sister. At least someone thought that was amusing. "I'm good. I was curious if you needed any more help. I'm itching to do something." the calico sighed. She was simply observing the growing commotion in camp as cats gathered to begin their own duties. She felt warm already, but it was something she could ignore for now. "I think when some of the apprentices come back, they should fetch water for the elders. I don't want them being taken out in this heat." she mewed. It wasn't an order, but she certainly sounded businesslike. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf Scoffing with a roll of her eyes at Dovestripe. "Dirtstripe!" When the senior warrior suggested a patrol, she sighed. Of course, he would try to take the lead. It was certainly aggravating that he was so full of himself. Her head snapped to face Birchlight when she agreed. Dapplefern was aware that she was rather go-with-the-flow when it involved superiors but really? Listening to this playboy of a tom? "You really think they're strong enough to fight ThunderClan? We'll send any of them back running with their tails between their legs!" she argued, taking a fierce stance and lashing her tail. She looked between the two and relaxed. If Dovestripe wanted to play it that way, she can merely annoy him. How would he like her being a thorn in his side? "Fine. We'll go patrol. I think Birchlight should lead the patrol. Rainstar mentioned her first and she could use more experience. I hope you don't mind taking a step back, Dovestripe. You are always kind to she-cats, weeell, except for a certain one across the river." Her eyes challenged Dovestripe to say something. We may not be struggling, but the other clans are and who knows what they might try to take from us other than prey."
The grey tabby tom shot a strange look to Birchlight when Dapplefern did her fierce stance before rolling his eyes. What was she expecting, a border skirmish? It's not like the three of them couldn't handle another patrol of cats. He was definitely strong enough, the younger warrior (Birchlight) seemed good enough, and as for Dapplefern, well... he didn't want to go there. Not yet anyways. Maybe later when the brown tabby would be calmer.
His ears pricked at the sound of having the younger feline lead their patrol. Seniority is a thing, isn't it? he wondered, glancing at Birchlight briefly before hardening his gaze and shooting daggers at Dapplefern. Stickfern's going for the win today, I see, he thought. Dovestripe's tail began lashing behind him bitterly when Dapplefern mentioned a certain RiverClan molly he refused to speak of.
"Sinking that low, are you?" he sneered, doing his best to take a deep breath. His tone changed immediately to something more light and somewhat cooperative. "Fine, Birchlight may lead the patrol so as long as it's not you, Dapplefern. Lead the way, Birchlight, before we waste anymore time on Stickfern's jokes since she thinks she's so funny."

Birchlight with Dovestripe and Dapplefern ThunderClan Camp Birchlight watched in surprise as the two older warriors snapped at each other. Dirtstripe, Stickfern? Were they really resorting to petty name calling over being put on a patrol together? Birchlight couldn't possibly understand it, eyes darting back and forth between the two warriors as if she was a kit watching an intense game of mossball. She was surprised when the responsibility was now shouldered off onto her - it seemed like no matter what she chose, she would upset one of them. She flicked her tail, a bit peeved that the two were treating her like a freshly named warrior - she wasn't even ten moons younger than Dapplefern!
"Even if the other clans are too weak to attack us, it doesn't hurt to give them a reminder to stay off our territory," she said, looking at Dapplefern. "We'll patrol the SkyClan border. They have prey most similar to ours, and they'd be the most likely to hunt on our lands. Any questions?" Birchlight felt a small thrill at ordering the older warriors around, and was reminded of how badly she wanted an apprentice of her own to train. First and foremost, she hoped that the two wouldn't start throwing up objections again - dealing with their bickering on the patrol itself was a different story.

»𝔽𝕝𝕦𝕥𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕡𝕒𝕨« ↦↦✿↤↤ Her head quickly turned to see her mentor, her ears growing hot in embarrassment. Did she see her pouting? Or was she safe? Either way, when she mentioned the Sandy Hollow she hopped up, racing over to her. She squeezed her way past the other two mentors and into the clearing next to her own. "I'd love to train right now!" She purred, bouncing up and down, completely forgetting she had been 'upset' only moments before. She liked her mentor, a lot. She spent moons as a kit worried she would get someone mean and scary like Dapplefern. Luckily, it seemed that Starclan and her leader were on her side. Sure, Fireflycloud wasn't the most outgoing of mentors but she wasn't the most outgoing apprentice either, it was a match made in Starclan. "Am I going to learn some battle moves?" She asked, her attitude changing once more. She didn't like the idea of fighting other cats but it was the way of a warrior. She'd much rather fight a cat then go hunting though, she had a bit of a soft spot for the smaller creatures of the forest, even if they were also very tasty.
