L considered Myrnin for a long moment, eyes narrowed very slightly. Then he opened his mouth to reply…and hesitated. Saying that yes, he did state the obvious, felt a bit redundant. Denying it wasn’t an option either. His comment had been a bit obvious. He wasn’t going to make himself known as an excellent liar just yet. He closed his mouth, watching Myrnin carefully. Finally, he decided to let the topic drop. He considered the next question instead. Myrnin was talking to him, which was something L wanted to keep going. He just had to figure out how to properly carry the conversation. “Do I need to do anything else?” He asked finally, tone curious more than anything else.

Myrnin had to think about this. Then he held up both hands in a shrug. Then, just as suddenly, he lunged forward and wrapped both of his arms around L. It was a hug, but it hadn't looked like it at the start. What it had looked was very random and sudden and probably a bit unnerving. Myrnin pressed his face against L's shirt (and if L was squirming or anything, he seemed to intend to ignore it.) "I should go," he muttered. But it had been nice that this random and odd person had let him stay. But he should ... should go somewhere. Anywhere, really. He should probably spend some time to actually work out what he was going to do with his life. Whatever that might be.

There were two things that should be known about L Lawliet, before anything else. They were not connected to each other, not technically, but they were both very relevant. One: L Lawliet was highly paranoid Two: L Lawliet had excellent reflexes. If Myrnin had moved slowly, he probably would have just backed off, maybe made it seem natural, not a reaction at all. If Myrnin had been someone L trusted, he he might have simply gone limp and allowed himself to be embraced, surprised, but not alarmed. Unfortunately, Myrnin was neither trusted, nor slow. Nor was he using vampiric speeds. The moment Myrnin moved towards him, L reacted, spinning in place and ducking at once, his foot flying out and aiming at Myrnin's head. Not hard enough to actually knock him out cold, but hard enough to hurt.

And without super speed, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It hurt. A lot. Myrnin collapsed a bit, whimpering, and looking shocked and surprised over the whole situation. The fact that he was mostly on the ground probably didn't help anything, since this was exactly where he'd ended up after the kick. His head throbbed. Getting hurt as the thing he was now was a lot different from how getting hurt as a vampire felt. This just made him feel like he was slowly spinning. He'd heal. Pretty quickly, actually. Not as quickly as he might have, but still enough to make things interesting. "Why'd you do that?" he half whined and half wheezed. There was a lot of thoughts rolling around in his head, but the biggest one was that he'd very much like a hug right now. That aside, it seemed like what he'd actually be doing was leaving. Just ... leaving.

L backed up a little, watching Myrnin carefully for any sign that he might continue his attack. It had been incredibly sudden, which was why L’s reflexes were as good as they were. He couldn’t risk being caught off guard, ever, but especially when he could be attacked physically, as he could now. He was usually safely behind a screen. The fact that he was vulnerable now…it made his natural paranoia skyrocket. But it didn’t seem like Myrnin was going to attack again. Or…possibly, he hadn’t actually attacked a first time either. L narrowed his eyes. The confusion could have been a ruse, but it was also possible he’d misread the situation. Either way, he probably needed to say something. “There was something in your hair,” he replied awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s gone now. I think it was a piece of fuzz, or…”

"You usually spin kick someone with fuzz in their hair?" Myrnin asked, incredulous and maybe just a bit impressed at the same time. He didn't actually believe that was what L had seen, but he wasn't sure how else to respond to what had just happened. Considering his body was already healing up the damage, he didn't have much to complain about. He wasn't sure if L was going to notice, however. He wasn't sure if being a detective would include how fast a red patch on someone's forehead was supposed to disappear. Probably not as fast as it was. "What ... might you have to elaborate?" he tried, seeing if L was going to say anything with any more detail.

“Yes,” L deadpanned, his expression entirely unchanging. “That is my response. In my experience, it usually takes care of the problem.” He could lie better than that, but he was telling a lie he was under no illusion that Merlin was going to believe, so he didn’t see any reason to put much effort into it. If Merlin consequently assumed it meant he was a terrible liar, so much the better. He wouldn’t complain. He did notice the red was fading oddly fast. He watched it with some interest, eyes narrowing very slightly, but he didn’t say anything. His first impulse was not going to be to assume Merlin wasn’t human. It was more along the lines of wondering whether he was noticing it correctly. And perhaps filing it away for later, in case anything else popped up. “Elaborate on…?” He replied, eyes unblinking as he stared at Merlin. “Please be more specific.”

"Your reaction," Myrnin explained, pursing his lips. "I don't suppose you have a better ... idea of what you might have been doing?" But it would seem that there wasn't going to be one. The unusual owner of this place seemed as if he was all around unwilling to be clear on his stand-point and opinion of others. Ah well, Myrnin supposed. It wasn't like he could pressure it out of him. "I don't suppose you had any plans for today?" he tried instead. Perhaps if they left ... Ah, but that was probably a bad idea. Myrnin didn't particularly believe that this was going to garner any more answers and would also push him into a situation where he'd likely find himself in ... well ... daylight wouldn't harm him, but people very well might.

(Sorry for lateness, November murdered me)
“Oh,” L said, and fell silent, studying Myrnin, the sort of light in his eye that you might expect to see from a world famous poker player, or a college student during finals. He considered the man in front of him for a long moment. He wasn’t tense, really. He didn’t even look particularly interested, though that was a lie. “No,” he decided at last. “I don’t have anything to elaborate. I’m pleased you aren’t unconscious, though.” Well, suspect or not…he couldn’t see any way he’d want to let this man go now. He seemed just odd enough to be worth investigating, the evidence itself was merely incentive. Plus, he mused, Merlin had broken into his home and hidden under his bed already. If nothing else, this was a good way to get him back for that. “Plans? In a manner of speaking,” he continued, content to leave the kicking incident behind. “Why? Did you have plans?”

L talking in circles disheartened Myrnin. And maybe frustrated him just enough that he ... walked for the door. Just headed away from L and kept going. He had no energy and the certainly none to entertain L. "If you want to talk in circles, that's fine," he murmured. "I'll just go." And then he was out. Through the door. He didn't even bother unlocking it, the lock just cracked under the pressure of opening it. And then out he was. Away from L. He half wondered if the other man would follow. Maybe. He had no idea, nor did he care.

L blinked, looking up as Myrnin headed for the door. Well…that was unexpected. He hadn’t thought he was talking in circles, but this wasn’t the first time he’d been wrong about that, so it was possible. His mind worked in semi-circular patterns. Or at the very least, not straight ones. He hadn’t been told he wasn’t supposed to follow, however, so he moved after him, closing and locking and double-checking and relocking the door before he joined the stranger, walking hunched and with his hands in his pockets. He had nothing to say at this stage, so he didn’t speak.

Myrnin didn't have anything to say either. So he didn't. Instead, he just walked away from the building and down the street. It was daylight. He stared up at the sun long enough to marvel at it. Not like he hadn't ever seen the sun as a vampire, but there truly wasn't any way to compare it to what it was now. It felt very wrong. He kept walking. No idea why L was following him. He also had no idea where to go. So, well ... "Where should I go?" he asked L. Better than just walking in a continuous, random direction.

L fell in a step behind the strange man, hands in his pockets and shoulders hunched comfortably forward. He did notice his attention on the sun, and gazed at it for a long moment himself, mentally adding it to the list of odd behaviors he’d noticed. Not that he was exactly one to talk. “I suppose that depends on where you’re trying to end up,” he noted unhelpfully, continuing on next to Myrnin as though they’d known each other for years already.

It was not the sort of response that Myrnin wanted. Highly unhelpful all around. He actually wasn't sure if he wanted this strange person around at all. "More dancing," he muttered. "All the dancing." Then he waved around. "I don't know. Around? Any suggestions?" At this point, he could just hop a train. Maybe he would. It wasn't like he was leaving this place any other way. He changed directions. He didn't know where he was going, but he knew a major road was nearby and if he followed that, he'd get to the center of town sooner or later.

Dancing? It took L a moment to realize the strange man didn’t mean physical dancing. Mostly because he wouldn’t have expected him to acknowledge it out loud. Of course, he was right. This was a dance, of sorts. Even if this man wasn’t a suspect, he had broken into L’s house, which meant he was automatically suspicious. Besides…every conversation was a dance, if you thought about it. You were always trying to gauge the other person, always trying to plan for what they were going to do next. Or maybe that was the paranoia talking. Either way, he understood the point. “I’m not very well versed in places to visit,” he said truthfully, turning easily to follow as the man shifted direction. “I’m content to go wherever you’re going. You should know, though…you’re headed to a road now.”

"Is that a bad thing?" Myrnin asked. This seemed like a trick. He looked around suspiciously. He could hear a lot of roads. He rounded a corner and nearly walked right out into the aforementioned road. He jerked back, though not without a few honks from oncoming traffic. Not a fun experience. He hissed. What was this madness? He hadn't heard it. Or rather, he had heard too much of it. There was the sound of traffic everywhere as ambient background noise, not like something specific. How did that even work? Why did that work? Seemed wrong. He frowned at L. "Maybe I just want to get a soda? Or something with enough sugar to kill a horse?"
