Cherrysplash with Eaglestar Light trickled in the warrior den in a small section and landed on the face of one ginger molly. She let out a soft whine when she blinked open her eyes to face the harsh sunlight. Cherrysplash reached up and covered her eyes for a moment before pushing herself up. She needed to get up. The molly pushed herself to her paws and stretched forward, easing out her stiff muscles. Cherrysplash straightened up and picked her way through the nests and slipped out of the warrior dens. Her green gaze cut around the clearing. Her whiskers twitching at the sight of Webshine and Rainfrost arguing in camp, they were always so amusing. All four of the littermates were. Her and Hickoryburn had a much more calm relationship. A flash of affection drove through her at the thought of her brother. She wondered if he wanted to go hunting later.
But for now... a certain flash of calico fur caught her. Cherrysplash paused for a moment. In a different time, she would bound over towards Eaglestar with no reservations and brush their muzzles together with an affectionate term. Yet things were different now.
She shook her head before padding across the clearing towards Eaglestar. She couldn't be a chicken, even if it was obvious that her former mate still didn't have the same feelings for her. "Good afternoon, Eaglestar," she greeted with her usual soft, friendly voice. Cherrysplash went to sit down besides her old friend, "Do anything fun lately?" she asked with slight teasing voice, curious gleam in her eyes. There used to be a time where the ginger molly used to know everything Eaglestar was up to.

Eaglestar » A stony gaze washed over camp, calculating and observing as cats went on about their business and gathered on their respective patrols. The Clan was running smoothly, and Eaglestar couldn’t ask for anything more than that. She felt pride for her Clan trickle down into the very top of her ears to the bottom of her toes. She had brought the Clan a long way - or so she liked to think - and never had it been so well functioning.
Hating the idea of staying around in camp and lazing about like some kittypet, Eaglestar made her way from the outside of her den to the main center of camp. She held herself high, head craned above her shoulders and the stub of her tail as tall as it could go. There was a certain respect that the scarred tabico commanded, and it was clear that she was not one to be messed with or one to be fazed by something minor.
Yet it wasn’t long before the leader herself faced a minor hiccup in her powerful walk across camp.
An all too familiar flash of smoky red caught the leader’s eye. For a moment she wished that it was Hickoryburn instead, but she knew the flighty tom would never come bounding up to her, and she had to face the reality that it was the tom’s littermate that was coming her way instead.
Eaglestar felt the breath catch in her throat as she looked at the molly she had once called her mate.
”Cherrysplash,” she greeted, voice monotone yet just the slightest bit strained. Eaglestar did what she could to avoid the warrior, but even as leader there was only so much she could do, and it wasn’t like she could always avoid her Clanmate. Sometimes she had to face the facts and accept that she couldn’t run away from Cherrysplash - couldn’t run away from her guilt - forever.
”Hm, I’ve led some successful patrols these last few days,” she replied to the molly’s question, doing her best to not come across as too stiff or uncomfortable. She heard the tease in Cherrysplash’s voice, and it took a lot for her to continue looking at the other molly with an emotionless gaze. Even if she had been the one to break things off, it didn’t mean her feelings were gone. No, they were still there, as alive as ever, but she had made her choice - leadership over Cherrysplash - and Eaglestar had always been too stubborn to go back on her decisions regardless of how much she wanted to.

Cherrysplash with Eaglestar She felt a flash of hurt at the cool and emotionless tone. She knew their situation was awkward but before they were mates, they were best friends. Cherrysplash felt like they could still be friends if Eaglestar wasn't so stubborn about the fact of avoiding her.
"Still all work and no play?" Cherrysplash stated. To other cats it might be a friendly question but the ginger molly knew Eaglestar and her words held a teasing edge. The calico molly had always seemed so focused. Sometimes she wondered what the leader did know since nobody made her stop and smell the roses. "Patrols don't equal fun," she sighed. Knowing they have had this discussion in the past before.
There was significant pause before the molly flashed Eaglestar a small yet playful smirk. "Have you tried climbing or swimming," Cherrysplash suggested before laughing, "You know for fun?" She knew fun was foreign concept for the older molly.

Eaglestar » There it was - a pang in her chest that hurt more than she would have liked it to. She drew in a deep breath. She needed to stay calm. Breaking down now was the last thing the leader wanted.
This was a conversation they had had before, but that first time had been on different terms. Eaglestar had been more playful with Cherrysplash, more willing to let her guard down and crack a smile or utter a laugh. Now she had to be stone-faced and emotionless. There was no room for that now. If she let one thing slip then her whole facade would be broken, and that wasn't something Eaglestar could let happen.
Yet...it was so hard to be this composed when faced with the one cat that still made Eaglestar's heart flutter.
She shook her head. "Swimming seems more fruitful than climbing. We're cats of the fen, not cats of the tree," she replied with a shrug of her broad shoulders. Climbing would perhaps be useful in the event of a flood, but Eaglestar felt it would be best to know how to swim through the rapids than cower in the trees like squirrels.

[ Just gonna repost with my replies if anyone needs them! ] - - Wrenchirp & Creeksplash // Warrior's Den - - [ 𝑓𝑜𝑥 ] Just as about he was going to fall asleep, Wrenchirp felt a kick at his side. "Wh- ohhhh..." The tom started and groaned, his yellow eyes fluttering awake. With a fuzzy head, he looked around and noticed his brother Creeksplash was right by him. He looked to be sprawled and snoring as always. "Creeeek, you're dream-kicking again." The tom whined. This wasn't the first time something like this had happened. Fortunately, and unfortunately, Wrenchirp was usually the victim to the other tom's tendency to rustle about in his sleep. Grumbling a bit, the small tom gave his bother a light shove with his small paw. Still half-awake, Wrenchirp found himself dozing off once more as he rested his head on his paws.
When the russet tom launched onto his feet, Hailstreak found himself recoiling back slightly. This was a little bit more than he could chew, but he wasn't going to let that deter him. He was already in deep enough as is. At Embersnarl's retort of catching him still being asleep, his eyes widened a bit in surprise. Rats! That fleabrain was up before me? I thought I was up pretty early! Guess not early enough compared to him. However, the tom was quick on his paws and played off his surprise as him being offended. "Me? Still sleeping then?" Hailstreak replied with a mock-hurt tone. "Surely you must've been dreaming because I was clearly awake this morning." He declared.
- - Fenneltooth w/ Raildash, Bayfleet, & Beedrift // Camp - - [ 𝚜𝚑𝚢𝚒𝚗𝚞𝚗 , ᴏᴡʟ ] They turned to Beedrift and gave a nod of approval. "That is fine. Anyone else?" Fenneltooth replied, their gaze sweeping between the two other toms. Bayfleet didn't appear he would be stepping up any time soon. Perhaps Raildash? No, Fenneltooth highly doubted that as well. However, they allowed the chance for anyone else to speak up. It was only fair. Other than that they were all ready to head out.
