Pearlstone "Well at least I'm attractive enough to seduce even a big fish," Pearlstone purred in an icy, teasing tone. She stiffened her body as he wove around hers, nipping at his ear like a mother chastising a naughty kitten. Oh yes, this was a competition she could win. "Deal," she mewed, following the tom into cool water, ducking as a gentle wave rolled over her head. She rose from the water, shaking to clear her ears, her powerful legs churning to keep herself afloat. This was what she was trained for, what she was good at. Pearlstone ducked her head under once more, opening her eyes to search for the flicker of a silvery fish.

Lioncrest with Goldentide Just outside Camp
"Oh, yeah, I had the craziest dream," Lioncrest answered, gesturing with his front paw for emphasis. "It was about an otter joining the clan. Can you believe it? An otter." Lioncrest chuckled at the memory of his own dream, caught up in the fantasy of having an otter as a clanmate for a moment. "Anyway, since it's such a beautiful day out-" he thought every day was beautiful, even if it was pouring and thundering, "-I was going to head down to the beach for a swim. Would you want to join me?" To try even harder to convince Goldentide, Lioncrest gave him the puppy-eyed look he'd used since they were kits and he wanted something from his brother. little blu โฅ Cattlespot with Coralshine and Plumeriabreeze Camp
Cattlespot nodded as Coralshine spoke, amused by the medicine cat's rambling. "I wouldn't mind getting out of camp to stretch my legs," he mused, "these old bones still need exercise, after all." As much as Cattlespot liked to grumble about his age, he had no desire to retire to the elder's den any time soon - for one, he loved helping his clan, and would contribute as long as he could. Plus, he still had a tiny bit of that hot-headed young warrior inside him, and he was determined not to retire until Brightshell did. He smiled at Plumeriabreeze as she approached, certainly not minding the idea of having some more company. "Coralshine here just asked if I'd help her with looking for herbs, you're welcome to come along." He nodded respectfully to Plumeriabreeze, wanting his offer to seem genuine.

Tumblepaw's ears pricked up as Mantispaw approached. While he wasn't quite able to match the other apprentice's energy all the time, he still appreciated it, and it was quite easy for her to excited him - like she was right now. "Oh, yes! I had a dream about the Deep Dark. I don't know if it was an omen or if I ate bad fresh-kill though," Tumblepaw answered, amber eyes wide. "What kind of dream did you have?" He squeaked, curious as to what Mantispaw considered a weird dream. Honeybee with Tiderunner Crescent cove
Honeybee shook her head as Tiderunner batted at her whiskers, sticking her tongue out at him. "You're right, there's no running away from me." She laughed, lightly cuffing him over the ears. Chiapaw -- with Tallfin // camp
Crouched down and stalking forward, Chiapaw held her gaze on the biggest mouse she'd ever seen that was just on the border of The Wilds. She licked her whiskers and wiggled her haunches before leaping forward taking down the mouse! Chiapaw gasped with excitment, jumping around her kill and throwing a triumphant paw in the air. Now the young apprentice hovered over her kill, grinning before opening her mouth wide. Right before she could sink her her teeth into it a loud "Chiapaw." stopped her from doing so. She lifted her head and frowned in confusion. "It's Tallfin." the fluffy white and black molly glanced around, not seeing the tom anywhere. "Chiapaw."
Chiapaw blinked her eyes open, the bright light of the sun causing her to squint. She lifted her head above the tall grass and she realized that she was still in camp and not in the territory. She frowns, upset that the humongous mouse wasn't real and actually just a dream. Stretching out and making her body long, Chiapaw rose to her paws and smiled in Tallfin's direction, finding the tom easily, she wondered what he wanted.
Bounding over to the hunter, she reached him rather quickly. "Hey, Tallfin! What's up?" She asked excitedly, her tail lashing side-to-side. For just having woken up, the apprentice looked bright eyed and ready for trouble.

Sharkpaw with Conchpaw // in camp โ๏ธโ๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Out of the corner of his gaze Sharkpaw spotted the familiar black and white pelt of his mother and made an effort not to turn and acknowledge her presence. If he met her warm gaze... the white and gray tom wasn't sure he could resist the urge to crash into her legs like a frightened kit. Anything to get the gazes off of him, as though they were trying to peek inside of him. Pushing through the entrance, his irritation ballooned in his gut, making him feel almost nauseous.
Luckily for Sharkpaw, as soon as he entered the tall beach grass the balloon began to deflate, but only slightly. A faint buzzing reached his ears and the tom realized the orange colored apprentice was speaking to him. Totally missing his first comment, Sharkpaw shook himself - trying to focus his mind. His light amber gaze flew to Conchpaw, almost incredulously as the other tom began to bounce along through the sand. Couldn't the tom walk like normal? What was there to be so gosh-darn happy about - especially this early in the morning?
As Conchpaw met his gaze with his chin tipped, the athletic tom squared his shoulders, almost as though he was squaring off - still running on defense. Challenge flashed in his eyes and his lip curled up in a half sneer, half snarl. A race? Sharkpaw huffed to himself, knowing there was no way he'd let the other tom best him no matter the challenge. His claws flexed eagerly into the sand. Before he had a chance to answer Conchpaw however, the younger tom dared to move into his space and bragged about being faster. That nearly made the currently grumpy apprentice raise his hackles.
"You're on Conchpaw. You might be fast, prey-boy but you've never run for your life," the last part was quiet but spoken with a misplaced aggression. He wasn't truly angry with the other apprentice but with himself for remembering that morning. He would never forget it, he couldn't. Especially when nightmares of that evil bluff played through his mind every night - taunting him with his guilt and terror. "Ready when you are," he muttered, squaring up beside Conchpaw, tensing in preparation to propel himself forward. Even the thrill of competition was dulled by the haunting memories.
Mangotuft with Tallfin, Screepaw, & Berrypaw // in camp โ๏ธโ๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Mangotuft nodded her head easily, her gaze slipping around the camp curiously. She wondered where the best place would be to begin her search for Berrypaw would be. She genuinely didn't have much clue how best to proceed on that front but she'd try her best. Hopping to her paws, the molly nodded at Tallfin. "Of course!" she replied, glad to have a task to complete.
Stretching out her legs until they shook, the huntress padded in the direction of the nesting grounds, her tail waving behind her. "Berrypaw?" she called, not really being very careful about how loud her voice was. When the apprentice didn't respond right away the energetic molly was put out a bit. Would she have to peek into every single nest? That seemed like a lot of work...
Mangotuft, in her search, had wandered a bit close to the camp entrance and had spotted Screepaw looking like she was about to head out on her own. "Screepaw! Wait!" Mangotuft called, forgetting her other task for a moment to chase after the older apprentice. Tallfin had said he'd been looking for her earlier!
Goldentide with Lioncrest // guarding camp โ๏ธโ๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
The tom couldn't hide a snort at his brother's dream, especially considering otters could be vicious if provoked. Shaking his head, Goldentide suppressed a full on laugh, though he didn't know what he expected. Lioncrest had always had the strangest dreams, including Daystar turning into a crab, their mother being a mer-cat, and even the two of them fighting off the living dead - which only spoke in seal for some reason. Where his brother got all that imagination from, the guard would never know.
At his question, Goldentide hesitated. His job was technically over by now but it was always hard for the serious tom to leave his post - especially when no one had appeared to take his spot. What if something bad happened while he left the clan unguarded? "Not right n-" he was just about to deny his brother when Lioncrest pulled out the big guns - the puppy-dog eyes. He'd never been able to resist his brother when he looked at him like that. It made the fluffy tom look too darn cute. It wasn't fair.
"Fine, for a little bit," Goldentide relented, sighing helplessly as he shook his head at his litter mate.
Seagullstar open // just outside camp โ๏ธโ๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Never let it be said that Seagullstar didn't appreciate his mate's support. He knew what a lucky tom he was to recieve that kind of unending devotion from someone and he did take her words to heart. Still, his mind warned him that Shellsplash was a bit biased. Shaking himself firmly, as though he could shake off the negative thoughts like water, the tom began the trek down the dunes, following in the pregnant molly's footsteps. "Thank you, sweetness," he purred softly, smiling after her.
His gaze settled on the sharp walls of camp, which kept them safe from most predators. That brought him a bit of peace, no matter how young he was, no matter how doubtful he was, he loved his clan. His ears perked at Shellsplash's comment and he huffed out a quiet laugh, noting that she wasn't wrong. The days did seem to fly by because of how busy he tended to be.
"That's what I'm afraid of," he murmured to her, letting his flank brush hers gently. His face remained angled straight ahead but he appreciated her company more than simple words or gestures would ever be able to convey.

Stormecho. The gentle morning breeze ruffled through a very pregnant queen's silver pelt, she stirred ears twitching and eyes blinking, unwillingly open. She roused just in time to spot her denmate; Shellsplash withdraw from the den, I hope she brings breakfast, but the request didn't part her lips. Whilst hungry, she could manage not devouring the first prey the dawn patrols would bring in. The elders or her denmate could enjoy that, and the season was fine enough that she didn't feel worried about where her next meal might come from. Instead the queen sat, comfortable in the privacy of her nest rather than out in camp where watchful and ever observant eyes seemed to have made it their hobby to keep an eye on her. Stormecho had never pitied queens much; it had never really crossed her mind. But now the nursery had been her prison for the better part of a moon, she was increasingly confused as to why murder wasn't a more common occurence in the clan. Soon enough, she had to remind herself, soon enough the kits would be here and the boring moons would be a memory of the past. If anything something she might well long for. However, soon enough never felt close enough, and she longed for her freedom to return. Surely no one will miss Scorchstreak too much, she wondered. The temptation was high, though this had been an agreed pursuit between the two of them, she was beginning to regret that decision more with every passing day. Particularly now she was round enough that the gentlest of pushes would flatten her, and the lightest gust of breeze would send her rolling down the nearest hill. With some effort the queen stood up, it took a couple of attempts. And she was grateful no one else was in the den to see her struggle, but she made the ascent quickly enough and made for the den's exit. Hopeful for the taste of fresh air in her lungs to cheer her up. Padding through the den's exit, she stretched out in the early morning sunlight. Casting a nervous glance about camp, before turning it to the den's exit. Wondering if anyone would notice an early morning escapade from the very pregnant huntress.
Shadowspirit. Once upon a time morning had been the most exciting time of day for the aged warrior, the prospect of hunts to accompany, battles to fight... shecats to flirt with. Nowadays, however, it was a taunting reminder of a youth long lost. Not that the warrior was about to admit such, under the most arduous torture he would barely spit a word of that truth. But as he struggled to gather his feet beneath him, his bones cracking and snapping with every movement, he was confronted with that infuriating trust once again. Balanced and grumpy, one of which was a rarity the other common as the breeze on the seashore. Shadowspirit considered his surroundings, mostly empty but from the muffled sounds of camp he knew that wasn't a sign of fire. He turned, and withdrew from the den at a steady pace, chin and tail carried tall, his gaze dancing across the clan as he moved. He spotted the leader and queen chattering to the side of camp, but the elder paid little attention to the youngsters as he trudged past. He had enough respect for the leader, but hunger and a general lack of manners drove him past the duo and towards the fresh kill pile. He nosed through its contents, finding a plump tern and carrying it away to somewhere sunny. Perhaps the one bonus of elderhood was the fact he had first chance at the fresh kill pile, though he would have struggled to find a single other benefit. It was boring, days seemed to drag on and he couldn't help but feel entirely useless as he watched younger cats bounce about at full speed. He'd say he didn't feel resentful, but whilst brash and over confident - he wasn't a liar.

tallfin location: camp accompanied by: chiapaw The grass was quiet and unresponsive. Tallfin leaned back on his haunches, slender silver body folding in on itself. He pricked his ears, hoping to be able to isolate the sound of a sleeping cat. It turns out there were many sleeping cats. The low murmur of sleep sounds resounded through the ground like mouse feet. Tittering. Murring. Tallfin whisked his tail around his paws. He called out, once more and a little louder this time, โChiapaw.โ
A few moments later, the grass before him shuddered and a small black and white she-cat bounded towards him. He smiled, slightly and closed-mouth, with classic Tallfin subtly. โGood morning, Chiapawโ, he murmured as she approached, keeping his voice down to hopefully avoid stirring any other sleeping cats. โMangotuft and I are taking out a hunting patrol and thought this would be a good opportunity for you to see more of the territory โ and what itโs like being a hunter. You donโt have to come, of course, but I wanted to extend the invitation.โ
makojaw location: clearwater beach accompanied by: pearlstoneโAh, but are fish-attractive and cat-attractive the same thing?โ Wow, with a statement like that, Makojaw is starting to sound like Tallfin. They must be spending too much time together. Makojaw pauses as Pearlstone ducks under an incoming wave. He follows her, letting the cold rush of the ocean run between his fur. He has always been at home in the water. When he is entirely submerged, Makojaw feels as if he may be flying. His paws do not brush the ground. There is nothing holding him up; nothing holding him down. In the water he is limitless. He kicks up to the surface, blowing water out of his nose as he rises. Pearlstone kicks beside him. The shelf has dropped off now, and they are in open water. โFor all you know, big fish are attracted to the ugliest cats in the โโ
Pearlstone dove under the water again before the tom had a chance to finish his statement. He frowns. She-cats. How dare she interrupt his sick burn. He was going to absolutely own here and now heโs stuck here, owning nothing but his own body with nothing being burnt except, perhaps, the tips of his ears by the sun. Fine. Fishing time. Makojaw stretches his shoulders, floating over another wave, and then dives down to follow Pearlstone. The trick to being a fisher is that you fish in stages. Right now, heโs doing a first pass โ checking the landscape, the fish spread, if there are any places that a fish may rush to hide that would allow him to corner them. Right now, they seem to be over a low-lying wormrock reef. Perfect! Tropical fish flock to wormrock reefs โ though, for that reason, they also have to be on the lookout for sharks. Makoโs, hence the tomโs namesake, and blacktip sharks are common reef wanderers. They usually leave cats alone, but itโs always good to be cautious.
Makojaw resurfaces to catch his breath, before diving back down to look for Pearlstone.
mantispaw location: camp accompanied by: tumblepaw โWow! The Deep Dark! That must have been so scary โ was it likeโ, Mantispaw pauses, bright blue eyes wide and mouth hanging open. โAn omen?โ
Mantispaw has always found the role of the medicine cat to be so cool โ like โ StarClan talks to them! And theyโre like, super cryptic about it, so being a medicine cat is basically like being a detective. They have to figure out what is a sign, and then interpret it correctly. Thatโs wildly impressive. Mantispaw is so enthused by the idea of Super Mysterious Supernatural Messages that she is almost โ almost! โ sidetracked from why she sought out Tumblepaw in the first place.
โOh! Yeah! Oh my Sunfish, Tumblepaw, it was so funny. Definitely not like, a sign from StarClan โ well, I sure as the Deep Dark is scary hope it wasnโt โ but basically in the dream I was a deputy and I was officiating a unity ceremony. Except โ get this! The couple was Dovepaw and โ I canโtโ, I canโt Iโm so sorry โ Dovepaw and Sharkpaw. Isnโt that so funny? Itโs like โ pffffft โ grumpy-shipping!โ Mantispaw repeats the joke she told Conchpaw because she liked it. โNow tell me that isnโt the weirdest dream youโve heard this week.โ

Kite - at Rockbound Bay w/ Blazeheart - highprince โItโs easier to look for them if you use a sturdy stick to move the smaller rocks.โ Kite had spent a few days within the odd scent markers she had found. While she had lived in groups before, she had never known one so big as to mark off so much territory, and it had utterly fascinated her. And so she had spent days creeping about the edges of the territory, spying on cats and covering up her scent with the smell of herbs and prey. She had traveled down to the rocky beach to investigate the strange cats that often rested there, sleek and long-bodied with stubby flippers and a love of the water. The shelled prey waiting to be tugged out from between the rocks didnโt hurt. She had settled down higher up the beach to enjoy the sun and prey and watch the strange cats resting on the rocky shores when she had spotted the lean form of a dark ginger she-cat picking her way along the beach, poking around between the rocks. Kite had leapt down, creeping closer to watch her, the salty tang in the air doing a good job of covering her already obscured scent up, and she had watched with amusement as the she-cat cautiously poked between the rocks, clearly worried about slicing up her pads. Well, the least she could do was offer some help to her. โIf youโd like, I could go find something to pry them apart.โ She tilted her head, keeping her body language non-threatening. The last thing she needed was for the other cat to assume she was launching a sneak attack, or trying to get something out of her.

Sharkpaw with Conchpaw // in camp โ๏ธโ๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
The wobble in Conchpaw's voice didn't go unnoticed by Sharkpaw and though the orange tom forced a bright mask upon his face, the gray and white tom knew he'd taken his aggression too far. This was why he needed Reefpaw. His brother was so much more level-headed when it came to these things and was great at telling him when he needed to rein it in. He let out a huff, unsure how to make the situation any better. Maybe Conchpaw shouldn't be so sensitive.
Well he wasn't going to tell the tom that. Deciding his best course of action was to ignore the problem all together - of course - he tilted his chin up with a small grin, the first that had appeared on his face all morning. "I'll make sure to keep it simple enough for you to catch," he teased, though his tone was much less nasty then when he'd last spoken.
Sharkpaw shifted his weight as he weighted for the race to begin, eager to get this over and done with. When Conchpaw called off 'three' the tom took off after the ginger tom, sprinting after him. He grunted as he poured on the speed, making sure he wasn't eating the younger apprentice's sand for too long. That would wound his pride. Sharkpaw tried to keep his mind firmly on the race and this stupid bet, not letting it wander to the last time he'd run so vigorously.
Mangotuft with Screepaw // in camp โ๏ธโ๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
"Tallfin was looking for you! I think he wants you to join us on a patrol," the older huntress explained, skidding to a stop beside the apprentice with a cheery smile. She was relieved to at least have found one apprentice, though admittedly it hadn't been the one she had been sent to look for. Though maybe Screepaw could help her with that. "Also, do you know where Berrypaw is?" she asked, trying not to sound sheepish as she shifted her paws in the sand. A great hunter, Mangotuft, couldn't even find an apprentice in camp.

Screepaw just raised her eyebrow and shook her head. "I haven't seen Berrypaw today," she mewed in her typical, straight-forward voice. "Do you know which way Tallfin went? As much as she enjoyed training with Tallfin, she half hoped not to see him so she could continue on her own way.

makojaw location: clearwater beach accompanied by: pearlstoneMakojaw paddled at the top of the wรกter for a few moments, planning out a strategy. He had noticed a rock awning low enough that he could not see under it, but deep enough that it would make a good hiding space for a larger fish and it was narrow enough that, if he came in at just -=the right angle, he may be able to trap something. Maybe a gamefish. Jacks were far too fast for Makojaw โ or any cat โ to catch, but a startled margate was fair game. They tended to cluster in schools as well, which was better for Makojaw because, given the keen eyes of a cat, he could usually find a straggler to isolate. Makojaw flattened his ears to his head, looking down at the light-dappled water ebbing and rising. His body drifted with it.
A few yards to his right, he caught a glimmer of white moving swiftly under the surface. Not a fish. Just Pearlstone. Look at her go. Makojaw could go faster. He knew it. Promised it to himself, like a prayer. I am better than her, repeated over and over again. I will always be better than her. Repeated over and over and โ was this too much? No. He had to study her. To beat her at her own game. Makojaw forged his rivalry out of steel and one hell of a god-complex. With that, he dove back under the water, kicking deeper than Pearlstone and heading straight towards the arch.
She better not have the same idea as him, is all he was saying. Well, thinking.

Kite - at Rockbound Bay w/ Blazeheart - highprinceEven as Blazeheart spoke, Kite was bounding along the beach, poking at driftwood and testing it with her paw in search of a sturdy piece. She finally picked out a long, thick piece carrying it over in her jaws, the end dragging along the rocks. She set it down in front of Blazeheart, angling it at the crevice between two smaller rocks. โSee, you slide it between, and then push or pull it, depending on which rock is more loose. Itโll help pry them open. Itโs better if you have a partner, since they can get the shelled prey out while you hold it open.โ She explained. It was certainly easier than getting her tortoiseshell fur all matted up fishing in the salty water, anyways. Why any cat would prefer it to hunting prey on land was beyond her. โThough, itโd probably just be easier to go hunt away from the beach.โ She pointed out. Kite already had gotten a few scratches before she figured out how to pry to rocks apart, though her ego ached more than the wounds themselves. โThough, if your group is big enough to need this much territory, itโd be a tall order to ask you to move, huh?โ She wondered vaguely if those fat, sleek cats laying on the shore, with their odd, stubby fins, belonged to whatever group this she-cat was in.

Mangotuft with Screepaw // in camp โ๏ธโ๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
The warrior tilted her head in thought, trying to remember where she'd last seen Tallfin. Did she see which way he'd gone to search for Chiapaw? Frowning a bit, Mangotuft turned back towards the center of camp, trying to rewind her steps in her head. It wasn't really working for her unfortunately, but she vaguely recalled him going off towards the far side of camp, near the nursery. "Over in that direction I believe, looking for Chiapaw," the red furred molly admitted, pointing her tail in the direction. Then she chirped a happy farewell and went off to search for Berrypaw.
Goldentide with Lioncrest // guarding camp โ๏ธโ๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Goldentide rolled his eyes at his brother, shaking his head as he followed him away from camp. Stretching his legs would be good for him and if he had to spend time with anyone, he's glad it's his brother. He missed his family the most when he worked long hours but knew his job was important. The clan's safety was nothing to take lightly. He stifled a yawn, content to walk in the sand beside
Lioncrest, enjoying the warmth and the ocean breeze. The tom stiffened at the offence, taking it very literally for a few moments before he remembered who he was speaking with. His brother of course meant no ill-will. "Laugh it up, chuckles. I can swim just fine, better than you," he replied with a very faint grin, casting a soft, teasing glance at his favorite hunter.

C O N C H P A W headed towards the Velvet Dunes, accompanied by Sharkpaw (little blu โฅ ) The ground felt like water beneath his paws. It gave, rose, and fell with a familiar rhythm. Occasionally, a piece of shell would switch his pads, but he never stopped running. He plunged across the beach like a red fish, breathing in the smell of the salt and the seaโof the wet sand, and rotting plants; spoiling fish, and seagulls. It was as familiar as it ever was, and it filled him clarity.
Should I let him win? Conchpaw wondered. His head itched to turn and view the apprentice over his shoulder. He knew better than to risk it, though. Sharkpaw was sensitiveโno ifs, ands, or buts about it. He would be in danger if he told him so, however, and as he sprinted across the beach, he knew that he couldn't let him win.
If Dovepaw doesn't take my ears today, he thought, Sharkpaw might, for throwing the race!
Beyond that, however, he was grateful that Sharkpaw had tried to lighten the mood. His tease hadn't escaped him, and while his ears were still pink with embarrassment, he was happy to have seen him smile. It was a relief, and it lifted his spirits as considered what he might be asked to catch.
If he wins, that is.
Turning his head, Conchpaw glanced over his shoulder. He squeaked upon seeing his opponent.
"You're fast!" he chirped, and nearly stumbled in the process. Turning back around, he pressed his ears flat against his head.
Forget about throwing the race! I have to survive it first!
"Oh, scallop skipping StarClan! I should'a stretched...!"

Screepaw
Screepaw's heart sank a bit. She'd been looking forward to the solitude but there was no way Mangotuft would let her simply leave without her mentor. "Thanks, Mangotuft," Screepaw mewed and looked towards the nursery to see if she could spot Tallfin

dovepaw | and i don't wanna war with you, i won't afford it, you get sore even when you win location: camp accompanied by: open On the far side of camp, up high among the tressels of grass and tendrils of poison ivy which creep along the lonely shoreline, sits a ghost crab. Next to the ghost crab sits Dovepaw. The two are alike in many ways: they are both small, hardly perceptible, may be called pretty depending on who you ask, have the capacity to scare a beachgoer wandering alone at night, have probably scared a beachgoer wandering alone at night, and are, in their very essence, crabby. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside. If you cut Dovepaw open to inspect his viscera, you would find that he is soft too. Buried deep under layers of skin and fat and organs there is a heart. Perhaps not in the metaphorical sense, but this proves, at least, that Dovepaw is a cat. Not a robot. Not some vengeful ghost. He is a cat. A cat side-eyeing a ghost crab and spitting, โwhat are you looking at, punk?โ
The crab does not respond.
Dovepaw hisses.
The crab does not respond.
โFine. You can stayโ, he huffs. โYouโre the only one who would.โ
Dovepaw adjusts himself slightly and the crab scurries back into its burrow.
โWrong once againโ, the tom grumbles to himself. โCrab one, Dovepaw zero.โ The tom pauses. โIโm talking to a crab. I have lost it; I am talking to a crab. Crab two, Dovepaw zero.โ
Because Dovepaw refuses to ever be defeated by anyone other than his own psyche, he decides that his whole event never happened, that anyone who saw him sitting up here is either a liar or nuts and needs to see Coralshine, and that he is going into camp to find something productive to do. Granted, none of the nincompoops in camp could probably name anything productive for him to do. Other than cleaning out the elderโs nests, probably, which was the chore he usually got assigned when his mentor was out hate-flirting with whatever-his-face, Makojaw or something, the big arrogant jerk who looks at Dovepaw like Dovepaw is just some pretty-soft-boy-chose-fishing-because-it-seemed-cool-uwu, like he should have just been a collector like his mommy because heโs so soft and weak and uwu flowers and pastel colors and soy and SHUT UP! Dovepaw is yelling at himself, inside his head. Crab three, Dovepaw zero.
The small mottled gray tom pushes through the nesting area and into the camp clearing, pale blue eyes scanning for anyone as desperate as he was.
makojaw location: clearwater beach accompanied by: pearlstoneOh unspeakable chthonic horrors which lurk in the deepest recesses of the Deep Dark, Pealstone was following him. Makojaw sends a silent prayer to the vilest entity that may hear him, begging that it curse Pearlstone so that she is suddenly overtaken by the desire to look at the sun, or, maybe, catch a seagull โ anything that would remove her from his path. The golden-speckled tom shoots a glare out of the corner of his eye. He hoped she saw it. He hoped that his annoyance radiated off of him like sonar waves. Maybe, like a dolphin, she could echolocate his loathing manifest physically. She would click her tongue and โ oh, what is that? Itโs a heaping pile of Makojaw wants you to Go Away! Yeah. Thatโs right. Take that she-cat. Hmpf.
Does the fact that Makojaw is frighteningly petty need to be stated? Everyone has already picked up on that? People in the back, you good too? Aight. We can move on. Makojaw is kicking towards the archway, hoping that the added disruption of Pearlstone doesnโt scare away whatever creatures are lurking beneath.
Of course, if the creature lurking beneath is a lobster so large it would take two cats to carry back to camp โ well โ thatโs another problem. Makojaw stares at the creature for a moment. It stares back out of raised, beady eyes. This isnโt a fish! The competition was to find a fish! Drats.
mantispaw location: camp accompanied by: tumblepaw C-could she โ Mantispaw, daughter of Heronscream and some rogue floozy who her mother had padded after for like, a moon, and then showed up in camp pregnant like โoopsโ โ really have received a prophecy from StarClan? The young she-cat leaned her closer to Tanglepaw; sidled up so close that her cheek pressed against his, completely overtaken by their new mission. โOhmysunfish, Tanglepaw! Do you really think! โ oh, Iโm being loud, Iโm sorryโ, Mantispaw restarted, whispering this time. โDo you really think it could have been an omen?Well, Sharkpaw and Dovepaw are both very angry most of the time. M-maybe itโs because they donโt have each other in their lives! Maybe their love will be whatโฆSavesโฆthe..Clan.โ
Mantispaw gasps. She is veritably rubbing her paws together in enlightened realization. โAnd ya know, if I get to be deputy too thatโs not half bad.โ
She looked over at Tanglepaw, not moving her cheek away and so straining her eyes very hard to see him. โBut not all prophecies are meant to be taken literally, right? Should we do some sleuthing?โ

ใ Morningrain ใ 51 Moonsโ โ โTom (Cis)โ โ โPansexualโ โ โGuard Morningrain is a dainty-looking cat, often mistaken for a molly at a distance with his slim features and elegant body shape. His fur is short and smooth with a noticeably fluffy chest, jet-black in color with silver-grey dapples running down his back and along the upper portions of his legs. He has a grey chin and large, sleepy-looking eyes. His left eye bright amber, while the right is pale grey, clouded up by a cataract. Morningrain is known for his even temper and seemingly lazy personality, often found sleeping in the sun when heโs not busy. Despite this, he can be a savage foe when sufficiently aggravated, and as he rarely gives a sign of his anger until he snaps, it can be dangerously difficult to judge his current temperment. He enjoys spending time with his kits and telling them stories, particularly of the variety meant to shock and frighten. His easy-going and personable nature has given him a good reputation among his clanmates, though some remain wary of his temper. Morningrain was born to Brighttail and Drizzlefoot, and knew early on that he wanted to be a guard- and also developed his crush on Plumeriabreeze quite early. He began developing a cataract in his right eye soon after he began his training, but was determined to achieve his goals, and persisted in becoming a guard even as the sight in his eye rapidly dwindled to nothing. His apprenticeship ended up lasting several moons longer than normal so that he could be trained to account for his blindspot, but he eventually was gifted his full name. Morningrain eventually entered a romance with Plumeriabreeze, who mothered his kits. His mother died soon after his kits were born, with his father following shortly after. Pearlstone Pearlstone spotted the large creature under the rock and turned her body to swim upwards towards the surface, lungs screaming now for air. She broke the surface and took a few deep breaths before diving again, this time, searching for other fish around. She spotted a fish flickering in and out of the reef and headed straight for it. It wasn't a huge fish but it was the size that would make a decent meal for a cat.

Tiderunner -- with Honeybee // crescent cove
"Hey!" Tiderunner exclaimed as she cuffed his ear, giving a faux pout. That didn't last long, however, and he began to purr once again, leaning up as far as he could and running his tongue over her chest. He chuckles at what she says next, glancing up at her with an affectionate glint in his eyes. "If our kits are anything like us, Starclan have pity as we'll have our paws full corralling them everywhere."
Tiderunner's heart felt so full whenever he was around Honeybee, remebering back when it first started to feel that way and how conflicted the poor tom felt about his feelings. Sometimes he felt like he didn't deserve her, didn't deserve her fierce and independent spirit keeping his company. He hated comparing her to Petalrush, but he couldn't help it sometimes. If Petalrush was water, smooth, graceful and cool, then Honeybee was fire, intense, dangerous, and warm. While he loved each she-cat separately, he couldn't help but notice how his love for Honeybee was much more passionate than his love for his deceased mate. Shaking the thoughts from his head, Tiderunner sighs and presses her forehead to the she-cat's legs. "I love you, Starclan would have me dead before I could even entertain the idea of escaping from you." He whispered, though audible enough for Honeybee to hear.
Coralshine -- with Cattlespot and Plumeriabreeze // camp
Coralshine gives a soft laughter to Cattlespot's words, shaking her head at his comment. Before she can argue with him about his age, Plumeriabreeze approaches them with an offer to go with them, if not for herb hunting then perhaps a walk instead. Excitement runs through the molly, her tail lashing to the side and she nods enthusiastically. "Oh, perfect, yes! Plumeriabreeze please join us, this is just perfect. I need to restock on a couple of herbs and you were the other cat that was on my mind." She speaks in her quick manner once again, grinning at the two. As much as her old mentor, Lemonthorn had taught her, Plumeriabreeze and Cattlespot had been just has influential in her training. She respected the two warriors and had admired Plumeriabreeze especially, but maybe that was just because she found the she-cat to be rather pretty and could listen to her talk for a lifetime. But, Coralshine digresses.
"The three of us seem more than enough, so if you two are ready let's head out." Coralshine looks between her collectors and smiles brightly at them. She takes a quick glance around the camp, trying to spot Tumblepaw to see if he was even awake, it might be nice to let him know that she was leaving camp. When she does finally catch his reddish brown pelt she notices that he's locked in a conversation with Mantispaw. Coralshine chuckles to herself and decides to leave him be, he's a smart cat he'll figure it out. With that the molly turns and begins to head out of the camp, taking a quick glance behind her to see if Plumeriabreeze and Cattlespot were following.
Shellsplash -- with Seagullstar // camp
Nodding and purring at his words, Shellsplash squeezed past the camp entrance once more, giving a nod to Goldentide and Lioncrest on her way back. Once the pair were back in camp, she glanced back to her mate to see if he was keeping up. "Do you have time to share a meal?" She would ask him, knowing that Seagullstar preferred to eat after all his clanmates, but she was a queen and had the privilege of eating first so she'd use that to get the tom to eat something as well. She'd hate for him to skip out on meals. Shellsplash knew that if she offered then he'd most likely agree. "We can eat in your den if you want some time to yourself before the day officially starts." And by himself she meant with her at his side, of course. Chiapaw -- with Tallfin // camp
"Morning!" The apprentice greeted back as Tallfin wished her a good morning, not keeping her voice down at all. What a great way to wake up, with a warrior calling over to her, and not just any warrior but Tallfin, one of the hunters! As he explained himself, Chiapaw hung on every one of his words, he body almost buzzing with excitement. Her? Going on a hunting patrol? With Tallfin and Mangotuft!
"No! I want to come, I really do! I would absolutely love to go hunting with you and Mangotuft, I would like that very much actually." Chiapaw confirmed, not even letting Tallfin finish his thoughts before she began to talk over him. Her eyes searched for Mangotuft now, wondering if she was nearby. "When are we leaving? Now? I'm ready to leave now if that's what you were going to ask next." The young apprentice was always so quick to speak, barely letting anyone else get a breath in. She was ecstatic to be going out into the territory and couldn't wait to tell Windsurf and Berrypaw all about it when she got back.

makojaw location: clearwater beach accompanied by: pearlstonePearlstone rises. She breaks the surface of the sea soundlessly, an instantaneous accession. Birthed by salt. Crying and wet and gasping. Then she dips under again, haloed by bubbles and refracting elysian light. The water shudders. Makojaw watches as Pearlstone dives back down. Where is she going? Back towards the lobster? The game wasnโt to catch a lobster; it was to catch a fish. Makojaw has already kicked away from the arch and is surveying the landscape. Sargent majors crisscross over the reef in alternating lines of golden and black. A hermit crab scutters across a fire coral. Makojawโs ears are flat against his head. The water renders him mute, but he wants to turn to Pearlstone and snap, โDonโt give up the gambit, fishbrain! The competition is still on!โ
Itโs not like she could carry the lobster on her own, anyways. Itโs huge. Sheโd drown herself getting back to camp. A veritable Lilycloud, that one. Too ambitious. Sinking to the deep. A lobster is a more humiliating enemy than a rip current, anyways. Pearlstone would never actually try and catch it. Makojaw lets himself float up towards the surface. He needs to catch his breath and rethink another strategy. Yet, as he rises, his eyes follow Pearlstone. What is she thinking?

Pearlstone Pearlstone, however, wasn't aiming for the lobster and had reached for the fish she'd spotted flickering in and out of the rocks. She snagged its' tail in her claws and sank her other claws into it's gills. Clinging to the wriggling fish, she managed to sink her jaws into it and held until it fell limp. Pearlstone cast a victorious grin towards Makojaw and swam for the surface.

Lioncrest with Goldentide Clearwater beach If there was one thing in life that Lioncrest loved, it was teasing his brother. Well, he loved lots of things, but he probably loved teasing Goldentide the most. "I don't think you can," he answered, feeling confident. "I could beat you at swimming any time, any day. I could probably beat you with one paw!"
He stepped onto the sand of the beach, feeling it between his toes and in his pads. When he trod back through it after getting out of the water, it would surely stick to him, though he was used to it. The salty breeze coming off the sea ruffled his fur, blowing back against him. The sun beat down on top of the hunter, and he knew he'd be glad to get into the cool water.
Tumblepaw with MantispawCampTumblepaw paused as Mantispaw brought up that not all prophecies were literal. That was true, maybe he was getting a little too ahead of himself here. While it was possible that Sharkpaw and Dovepaw's epic love story would save the whole clan, StarClan could've been trying to convey something totally different. They worked in mysterious ways, after all. He nodded to her in a way that he hoped looked confident and important. "We need to try to figure out what StarClan was trying to tell you," he agreed, and then, as if through magic, it seemed as if a lightbulb went off in his head. "Oh! Of course, it makes sense that they'd send this sign to you. Medicine cats don't understand love." Tumblepaw began to purr, happy that they'd only just started their investigation and he'd already solved the first piece of the puzzle.
Honeybee with TiderunnerCrescent Cove Honeybee rested her tail on Tiderunner, thinking about what their future kits would be like. Between both she and Tiderunner, they'd certainly be fighters. Honeybee wouldn't complain about that - she'd be proud to bring strong cats into the clan, both in body and in personality. As her mate had suggested, they'd likely have plenty of energy, too. She didn't mind that, either. She couldn't see herself as one of the queens that sat around in the nursery for moons until her kits became apprentices. Her pelt went hot at Tiderunner's words. Honeybee was still easily flustered by his affections - after all, she wasn't exactly experienced in relationships. She'd thought that bickering with him was the best way to express her feelings, until he outright told her how he felt. "I love you, too," she murmured, "and I already love the family that we'll have."
Blazeheart with Kite Rockbound Bay Blazeheart followed along with the molly's instructions, eyes lighting up in delight as the mollusk began to be pried open. This certainly seemed easier than her previous strategy, which was admittedly pretty bad. She looked up as the stranger began to talk about her group and moving them. Does she know about the clan? Blazeheart wondered. It took a moment for Blazeheart to realize that the other's attention was on the seals. The ginger molly held back a laugh, not quite believing that the tortoiseshell was being serious. She took a deep breath and tried to put on her most serious face. "Oh, yes, this bay is our ancestral home. I couldn't possibly ask them to move," she answered, looking longingly over at the group of seals. @nettles
Dunepaw with Pearlpaw Camp Dunepaw woke up with a stretch, slowly blinking his eyes. He had slept in his usual spot - tucked away next to his larger brother and away from his sisters. He rolled onto his back, surveying the camp. It looked to already be active and awake, with collectors talking to Coralshine and Mantispaw seemingly caught up in something with Tumblepaw. Dunepaw yawned wide and showed off his tiny, sharp teeth before forcing himself to his feet.
He stepped over other cats with a clear goal in mind - the fresh-kill pile. He was awfully hungry, and he wanted to get there before Jaguarpaw tried bossing him for the best piece of prey. Dunepaw was making such a beeline for the food that he completely missed the small shape of Pearlpaw, still asleep. That was, he missed her until her tail was squished beneath his front paw. He pulled his paw back as soon as he realized - which was rather late, considering he'd only just woken up - and hissed in surprise.
