Hi, I’m Ivy! I love animals, especially birds, and I’m a wildlife rehabilitator. What’s your favorite part of software engineering, and what made you want to do that? It seems pretty interesting. Also, Primrose is such an adorable name! What’s she look like?

I’ve always wanted to help people and if I can program something that can help someone do their job then that’s a win for me. she is a calico. I will post a picture of her in a minute.

Mainly just songbirds, no birds of prey - well, at least not for long. I’ve had owls, kites, ducks, and geese before, but gave them to other rehabbers that specify in those because I don’t really have the proper equipment or facilities. I also do rabbits too, but not as much as birds. That’s super cool, what’s your favorite thing you’ve programmed so far? Primrose is so pretty!!! <3

I'm Sandy, and I'm 14. I love to read, and when it comes anything book-related, I am a huge nerd about it. I'm going to high school in the fall, which is probably going to change a lot about my life (maybe? I don't know).
What do you like about art?

Join clubs, get involved. be kind to your teachers. keep your eyes on what you wanna do for the rest of your life. don’t let the school shove college down your throat. there are many options available. I love art because it’s very therapeutic. I’m self taught. I’m not great but I try. I haven’t drawn in months. I’m thinking about drawing again next week while I’m on vacation. Do you draw?

How long have you been learning to program? I learned a little bit of Javascript in middle school (I think?) but I never really made much of anything and I doubt I remember it now.

I've read so many good ones that I'll never be able to pick, but my favorite genres are mainly fantasy, mystery, horror, and thriller. Thanks for the advice, it's really helpful! And I don't draw, I can never find the motivation (plus I'm wayyy too lazy and can never decide what to do when drawing, lol)

I will start and never finish. But if I finish omg. it looks pretty alright

Hi! I’m Teal and I’m also a huge dork who is probably too sarcastic for my own good. Seriously, I love dry humor, but I’m told I have an excellent straight face and sometimes people can’t tell I’m joking x) You talked a little about why you’re pursuing software engineering~ what kind of career are you hoping to go into? :0 I think having those kinds of skills are really valuable but I’m absolutely hopeless with any sort of technical stuff! you sound just like me omg Hehehe its nice to meet you! im hoping to just make stuff bc I’ve always been one to create. the current company I am with pays well and I just got a promotion. I could, theoretically, sign on with them but in their tech department. so basically I’m still trying to figure it out but that’s my goal so far. what about you? Tech isn’t your forte, but what is?

Hey, it’s good to have a goal, right? That sounds pretty awesome for you! What kind of classes do you take in that field? Me, I mostly stick to the arts and humanities side of things. I love history, and though I’m not really sure what I want to do yet, archeology sounds fun. I do a lot of art in my free time, too. Speaking of which, what kind of things do you like to draw? Since you and Sandy were talking about it (: aye! would rather a goal than no goal. keeps me moving forward. this semester it’s some basic stuff: client install & configuration, data communications, BASIC, html & css, web development, and another but I forgot the name. I’m looking forward to it. there’s more like c++ and JavaScript and a few others that I can’t remember off the top of my head. archaeology is so fun. I took An archaeology class. the professor was such a nerd, I loved her. I even learned how to make my own knife out of a rock. how cool is that?! i think you might like it, but I hope you’re ok with getting dirty haha. I draw whatever I feel like. Abstract, animals, scenes, landscapes, etc. I’m self taught. I haven’t drawn in months. Wbu?

Yeah, I don’t think I could be a vet because I hate seeing animals in pain. I do have some veterinary skills that I’ve learned from the vets I work with, like how to splint broken legs, things like that, and I can do that. I’m more comfortable with the vets doing it, especially for bad breaks, but if need be I can. Also I’d struggle with euthanizing animals, it’s hard enough when I have to take a bird to the vet to be euthanized, I certainly wouldn’t like to do it myself. I’m super thankful for all of the people that are vets though!!

After my second one I had enough bc the dog had congestive heart failure and they don’t pass smoothly...that’s the best way I can describe it. It was very difficult. the other difficult thing was that this breeder wanted his dog’s tail docked and ears cropped. this dog was under full anesthesia and still crying out. it upset me so much. still does. But even though it was rough I did enjoy helping the animals feel better or taking care of them, like you do with your birds

That is super cool!! :0 What else did you do in the class? I'm not really even sure what made me start looking into archaeology. Might've been when I went to historical Jamestown and there were a couple of college students there working on a dig. I asked them some questions and at some point thought "hey, I want to play in the dirt and unearth the past, too. Maybe the stuff I find will end up in a museum some day." I guess kind of like how you want to help people by programming, I want to be able to help people learn more about the past ^^ I just saw your reply to Sandy after I commented. didn't refresh fast enough, rip :') It's good to be well-rounded like that! I like to do character art and comics. I've been focusing on drawing people (mostly my own OCs) for so long now that I've neglected to really branch out and try other things. I'd like to work on landscapes and scenes next. Looked at bones. Dirt. More dirt. Rocks. Lol thats awesome! It’s so fun to find things out about our past or the past in general. Its all good! People? Mad respect. I’m horrible at drawing people. I wish you all the luck in your art ventures!!

I could probably be a vet in terms of knowledge/skill if I wanted to, I’m pretty quick to pick up on stuff like that so if I went to vet school I could but I’m just happier rehabbing. I’m wanting to be an ornithologist though, I’m super into the research side of things and am interested in doing field study work and possibly genetics. Also, I saw you mention art in replies with others on this thread. It’s cool that you’re branching out and drawing some different subjects; what’s your absolute favorite thing to draw?
