Pondfrost - w/ Brackishclaw and Turtlepaw - willowflower, highprince"Let's not get ahead of ourselves." Pondfrost gave Turtlepaw a playful cuff around the ear, with a teasing roll of her eyes. Despite her words, she was glad Turtlepaw felt such a strong urge to help serve and guide the clan down the right path. It was certainly better than having a lazy apprentice, even if Pondfrost herself couldn't really relate to the desire of wanting to be a leader. After all, it must be quite stressful, and she had always been more of a follower, taking orders from those who could handle the burden better.

Seapaw || tom - he/him || 11 moons || apprentice This tom is rather tall, with long legs and a rather slender body. His base coat is a strange gray, pearled green. He has pale sea-foam green ripple like markings all across his coat, aside from his tail, which is incredibly thin and ends in a spike. The fur of his tail and a single sock, his front left one to be precise, is pure white. His eyes are a dark green. || Seapaw is a quiet tom, who is a bit awkward around others and finds it hard to communicate with his clan mates. He is painfully shy and prefers his own company, where he can daydream and watch butterflies to his full content. There isn't really an aggressive bone in his body and he struggles with battle training and even taking the life of prey. He'd much rather pick flowers and finds herb lore much more fascinating. He wasn't born from a medicine cat line, however, so he's stuck being a warrior. Seapaw is extremely sensetive to others' emotions and this can make him easily swayed. His heart is three sizes too big for his awkward little body. On top of that, he is a twitchy tom, his body constantly in unintentional motion which makes him feel strange, like he's some sort of freak. He was brought to camp by his father Reedfoot, along with his sister Turtlepaw. He never knew his mother, as she is rumored to be some kind of rogue, but he is honestly afraid of what she'd think of him. Seapaw has the 'gift' of teleportation, which really helps when he needs to hunt because his constant twitching makes pouncing near impossible. He can't teleport very far though, only five fox lengths, and it always takes quite a bit of energy. After three teleportation stunts in a day, he's about ready to pass out. His spike on the end of his tail can also be used, but is not really effective for defense, instead it's rather useful for fishing. [[ little blu ♥ ]] highprince , is it okay if Sea is Turtle's brother? I can change him if not!
Mockingbird || molly - she/her || 26 moons || queen Small, unassuming Mockingbird really is just a tiny wisp of a feline. Her pelt is a delicate shade of creamy white, thick and soft as downy feathers. She has soft colorpoint markings, bright golden on her face, paws, tail, and ears. Luminescent lavender colored speckles splash across her cheeks, down her spine, and directly under her eyes. One of her eyes is a sky blue and the other is a faded amber. A scar runs from the corner of her right eye to the edge of the left side of her jaw. || Mockingbird is a genuine molly who believes in complete honesty, even if that makes her come off as a bit blunt at times. She's not one for playing games or tip-toeing around situations, if she has a problem, she'll speak up about it and get it off her chest. This can make her opinionated and stubborn, especially when something goes against her inner morals. Mockingbird is deeply family-oriented, especially as she was the only remaining out of all her siblings. She treasures family and longs to spend every moment possible with her kin, making memories. The fierce protectiveness she takes over her loved ones, whether they are her actual kits or not, can be compared to a mother bear defending her cubs. This can be verbally or physically and in life threatening situations or simple arguments. Injustice is not something that Mockingbird can stand and she will always do what she believes is right, even before following the code. Mockingbird was born into the clan to Cypresstail and Sunbreak. As a kitten she and her litter mates, Shinekit(later Shinepaw), Tidekit(later Tidewhisper), and Dawnkit(later Dawnfall), had decided to escape camp and go explore - as many foolish young cats do. They waited until their parents had been busy, Cypresstail with his apprentice and Sunbreak with helping fix a hole in the nursery wall. Then the four of them crept out of camp and eventually made it all the way to the Great Waters. Mockingbird, then Mockingkit, had been taunted by her siblings that she wasn't brave enough to take a drink from the deep water. She'd taken the bait and Tidekit, not understanding the danger, had teasingly pushed her into the water. Luckily Sunbreak had noticed his kits had left the camp and had followed their scents to the Great Waters. He dove in after Mockingbird and managed to set her safely on the banks. He ended up drowning however. Mockingbird still secretly blames herself for his death. Her siblings have unfortunately all passed away. Mockingbird has the ability to mimic the voices or noises she hears around her, but when she tries to use her own voice she often stutters or stumbles over her own words. [[ little blu ♥ ]] Fadedecho || tom - he/him || 38 moons || exiled warrior This tom has a dull golden pelt, as though he has been through the wash one to many times and his color is starting to bleed out. He has slightly darker tabby marking but even those are faded, worn out. His feet are inky black and pitch black marbled tabby markings make their way up his legs and down his tail, to his pure white tail tip. They're the only bits of color on him that aren't faded. He has two light, ghastly blue eyes. His lips are often turned up in a smile, even if he's feeling melancholy and he has another set of teeth hiding behind his first. || Fadedecho is silent, he is completely mute aside from small little grunts and the occasional purr. His eyes shine with intelligence though he has no actual voice, he doesn't let others walk all over him. He's independent and logical, often following reason rather than passion. He can be a bit snarky when he wants to be, though the only ones to hear it are those he has grown closer to. Fadedecho is loyal to his sister, who he is closer to than most because he often uses Tangledthrush as his voice, and believes strongly in her ideals. So when she was exiled from the clan he followed right behind her. He doesn't enjoy sleeping, in fact he is a self-inflicted insomniac. He suffers from terrible night terrors that often tell the future, but in confusing twisted ways that he doesn't understand. Brother to Tangledthrush maybe? Fadedecho has the power of telepathy but when he uses it with anyone he's not emotionally really close to it gives him incredible migraines to the point where his vision blurs and he can even black out. He has clairvoyant nightmares that make little to no sense to him and cause him more grief than any help. [[ little blu ♥ ]]

(A littermate of Brackishclaw, if that's alright?)
Swallowdive || Tom (He/Him) || 24 Moons || Exiled Warrior True to his name, Swallowdive's coloration resembles that of the bird itself quite well, with a glossy blueish-black pelt, with a stark white belly and vivid red band across his chest. He has large, bright green eyes, and his pads, claws, and teeth all have a faint green glow to them. || Swallowdive has a strong sense of confidence, and isn't afraid to share his thoughts or feelings on any matter that comes his way, regardless of qualification. Despite being something of a loud-mouth, one can appreciate his tendency to be honest and direct, and he prefers not to keep secrets. He hates complying with decisions he disagrees with, and will not follow a leader he doesn't respect. Swallowdive is Brackishclaw's brother, and it shows in his more out-spoken persona. Like his sibling, he desired a younger leader, but unlike Brackishclaw, he quickly jumped to Tangledthrush's side when the former deputy tried to take leadership by force. He currently lives in exile with Tangledthrush and the rest of her followers. Swallowdive has the ability to walk on vertical and upside-down surfaces, regardless of the pull of gravity, and got his suffix from his tendency to drop down on enemies and prey from above. However, if he remains upside down for too long, he can get quite dizzy and fall from blood rushing to his head, and he has trouble walking up very slick surfaces. [[ nettle ]]

Leafriver || in medicine cat’s den with Batwing
Leafriver grimaced at the idea of accidentally asking a warrior already heading out of camp. How mortifying. “That’s true,” they sighed. “I wish we could ask the deputy but -“ they cut themselves off, biting their tongue. They didn’t want to remind or be reminded of the former deputy. They didn't like to be bitter, but they couldn't deny the bile that rose in the back of their throat at the thought of Tangledthrush stealing their sister away. “I suppose we’re still waiting on that,” they sighed, though they couldn’t blame the clan taking its time trying to piece itself back together. But the lack of leadership made them nervous. Very nervous.
“I suppose we can go see who’s up?” they said, standing up. “Come with me?” they said, trying to make it sound like an offer and not a plea. They were, quite frankly, mildly terrified of speaking to another cat at the moment.

Jacques || in sea of pickleweed with Needle and Rope
Jacques continued smiling pleasantly at Needle until Rope gave him a wave of the tail, and returned the gesture. He decided that he quite liked the pair. The Rope fellow was especially pleasant. They should really stick around. “Well, Needle and Rope,” he said, bowing in an over-the-top gesture. “It is a pleasure. Want to go hunting with me? Let us bask in each other's company before we inevitably go our separate ways.”
@nettles
Brackishclaw || in camp with Turtlepaw and Pondfrost
Brackishclaw nodded, feeling all the more validated by his clanmates’ unanimous agreement. Then nearly cracked up at Turtlepaw’s declaration. “Which apprentice? You?” he chortled. “You haven’t even finished your training yet!” He sat down, leaning forward as if to entertain the idea. “Alright then, oh great Turtlepaw, what are your ideas on leading the clan? What are your opinions on dealing with rogues? Thoughts on the Great Salamander Crisis of the last season of Algaestar?”
Tangledthrush || at water’s curve with Virgil
Tangledthrush whiskers twitched in amusement - she couldn’t help it, she prized herself on the ability to seemingly to pop into existence and startle every cat about her. “Didn’t mean to frighten you,” she mewed. Her ears perked up to catch the loner’s mumble. Sympathy swept through her, and she crouched by the water beside him. Tangledthrush turned her gaze back to the water. “The trick to catching fish,” she said, “is to strike where the fish will be, rather than where they’re at.” She gestured at her fellow cat to lean back a little. “And make sure your shadow doesn’t fall over the surface.”
She closed her eyes and opened her third, opening her vision to a different color spectrum. Into the cold water, she saw warm oranges and reds as a fish swam by the edge. “They swim in circles, patterns. Watch closely.” Tangledthrush waited patiently, watching closely. Then, with a swift jab of her paw, she slammed her claws into the wriggling fish’s body, sweeping it up and onto the bank. With a quick nip to the neck, the trout she wrangled from the water stopped flopping. Tangledthrush sent a quick thanks to Starclan - she, at least, hadn’t forgotten them.
“Look,” she said, gesturing at the three-eyed trout before her, meow thick with amusement. “It’s me!”

Batwing with Leafriver || Medicine cat's den
"I'm sure this whole thing will be sorted out soon," Batwing assured, even if he didn't really believe it. It wasn't as if many elders were really jumping at the chance to be leader, and there was still too much turmoil for things to really be normal. It wouldn't help to speak the truth, however, so he put on false positivity.
Leafriver's words caused his whiskers to twitch in amusement. Yes, I will definitely go see who's up, he thought, though he only nodded to them. Though it didn't bother him, he didn't like bringing up his blindness, as it seemed to make his clanmates uncomfortable - as if he was offended by the littlest things. He stepped out of the den and into the sunlight, raising his head to sniff the air.

Turtlepaw with Brackishclaw and Pondfrost || Camp
Turtlepaw ducked away from Pondfrost after her cuff, losing her balance for a moment before righting herself - obviously like a leader would. She looked up at Brackishclaw, puffing her chest out. "Yes, me, who else?" She told them, not even a hint of joking in her voice. "I would be the best at leading the clan, because I wouldn't just sit around and watch. I would chase all the rogues off and....eat all the salamanders! And I wouldn't choose my deputy, either. I would have everyone in camp fight - but no one would die - and whoever won would be my deputy," she answered confidently, as if she'd thought about this all before.
@nettles
Virgil with Tangledthrush || Water's curve
Virgil watched the strange cat with fascination. She seemed to know so much about catching fish - more than he could ever hope to. Her parents must have taught her well. He tried his best to keep his shadow off the water, listening to what she told him with ears held straight up. He startled as she grabbed the fish out of the water and killed it, impressed.
"Woah!" He said, looking down at the trout. His belly only hurt more, but he knew this was the molly's food. When she made a joke about looking like the fish, he purred lightly. "I don't think so. You aren't nearly that slimy."

Seapaw // in camp // open The tom twitched as he tried to pull a thorn out from his right paw, letting out a quiet mewl of annoyance. There must have been one left in his nest, or he'd accidentally dragged it in himself after some rigorous training. Either one was probable but he was a bit put out either way. He briefly wondered if he could find some goose tongue while he was out today. That would take care of the little scratch that was quickly becoming inflamed. Or so he'd overheard from the medicine cats. Seapaw knew he wasn't technically supposed to have this knowledge but he couldn't help but be fascinated by healing. He grabbed the thorn more firmly between his teeth but he twitched suddenly and the thorn dragged along his paw, digging in deeper into his skin. A hiss of pain and frustration escaped him as he spat out some blood, his dark green eyes soft with pain and helplessness.
Mockingbird // in camp // with Cypresstail [willowflower ] Waking up feeling nauseous and heavy was not something Mockingbird had grown used to, not that she would change her pregnancy for the world. These kits meant the world to her and they weren't even here yet. Forcing herself to her paws, a yawn escaped her jaws and she shook herself firmly. She wasn't the type to just lay around and laze about, instead she was usually out and about until the sun began to sink behind the horizon. Becoming a queen and mostly regulated to being inside camp had really limited her activities. Waddling out of the nursery, Mockingbird blinked in the bright sunlight and let herself adjust. Her bi colored gaze slid over to the Elder's Den, thinking of her father. Deciding to check on Cypresstail, she slipped into the den, glancing about until she spotted the white and green tom curled up in his nest. "P-Papa?" she called softly, not wanting to disturb him if he was still sleeping.
Fadedecho // at Water's Curve // with Tangledthrush & Virgil [highprince ] Having been awake for hours, refusing to let himself sleep, the tom had set about wandering the marshlands, not really bothering to watch where his paws were taking him. Anything was better than the night terrors. Fadedecho heaved a silent sigh and looked up, only to realize that his feet had led him to Water's Curve. At least he hadn't ended up somewhere that would have caused him grief. Deciding to take a quick drink from the peaceful waters, he stalked on through the pickleweed until a familiar scent caught his attention. His sister was nearby with some stranger. Curious, Fadedecho silently crept through the murk until he spotted the familiar tabby coat of his sister. He paused, so just his haunting blue eyes could be seen from the flora and watched with rapt attention. 'You can be plenty slimy. Especially after trudging through the marshes all day,' he projected mentally to his sister, the only way he had a voice of his own. There was snark in his tone but a hint of affection lied just below it.

What are y'all up to?"she exclaimed, plopping herself down next to the group. "Going on patrol?" she asked.

(nobody: pondfrost: tangledthrush is big and fluffy and buff and good at everything) Pondfrost - w/ Brackishclaw, Glassyfern, Turtlepaw - willowflower, highprince, showbiz"A good deputy can do more than just fight." Pondfrost pointed out, her ear flicking thoughtfully as her mind drifted once more to Tangledthrush. The fluffy she-cat could organize the clan in a way Marshstar seemed almost unable to, a contributing factor to their clan's civil war. She had to admit, Tangledthrush certainly did had a way with words. Still, Pondfrost had made the decision to stand with Marshstar, solely because she didn't like Tangledthrush fighting for the position. She wished the former deputy had picked a more peaceful option, because Pondfrost was sure she would have been a strong leader. At Glassyfern's words, her ears pricked and she turned, greeting her with a bright smile. "Brackishclaw woke me up and I got Turtlepaw up. We're going hunting!" Needle and Rope - w/ Jacques - willowflower"We know how to hunt," Needle grumbled, but Rope was already moving to the tom's side. He gave a bright nod, and he had that look on his face that screamed reckless nosiness. Needle resigned himself to having to clean up another one of Rope's messes by the end of the day, and gave a sharp, exhaling sigh, moving forward as well as his claws sheathed. "Fine. Not like I'll ever change Rope's mind, anyways." Needle huffed, giving a lash of his tail.

Glassyfern || in camp with Turtlepaw, Brackishclaw, and Pondfrost highprince willowflower nettle "Oh, nice! Can I come along too? It'll wake me up real good I bet!" Glassyfern asked, her tail waving hello to Turtlepaw and Brackishclaw. "Oh, you know, I bet Seapaw would love to join us!" She exclaimed, glancing at the apprentice's den. "Well, maybe not, he might be asleep, but that's alright! It's always good to practice! Unless like, you're injured, cause then that just might injure you more..." she trailed off, thinking. About what? Nothing. She had simply lost her train of thought. She blinked, snapping back to reality. "Anyhow yeah, could Seapaw and I join you three?"Or is that too many people? Well, is there even such a thing as too many people on a hunting patrol? Of course not, the more the merrier, right? Oh, well, maybe not, hm. I guess it'd be bad if everyone in camp went hunting at once. Can the elders even hunt? They're so old. I wonder if I'll ever get that old? Maybe not, I almost got eaten by the marsh a while back. Wow, that was scary. It'll probably happen again. Good thing Tangledthrush was there to save me! Too bad she's gone, I wonder what'll happen now. What'll happen now? Oh yeah, hunting patrol! Almost forgot. I hope Seapaw won't get angry at me if I wake him up. [glassyfern's thoughts got me wheezing they go vroom]

Brackishclaw || in camp with Pondfrost, Turtlepaw, and Glassyfern
Brackishclaw was ready to roll on the ground with laughter at Turtlepaw’s declaration. “Oh, forgive me, clearly I underestimated the inner workings of your mind,” he meowed, still clearly amused. He looked over at Glassyfern popping into the group and waved his tail indifferently. “Yeah, sure, I don’t mind. I wonder if we should set up a border patrol too,” he said just as Leafriver padded up.
Leafriver || in camp with Batwing, Brackishclaw, Pondfrost, Turtlepaw, and Glassyfern
Leafriver stepped outside with Batwing, taking a deep breath of the fresh morning air. They spotted the small cluster of cats already in the center of camp, and took another deep breath as they hesitantly stepped up to them. “…Hey there,” they mewed, looking around the cats a bit nervously. Brackishclaw had slowly turned his head, looking ready to bite their head off, and they nearly backed off right then and there. “I was wondering… if anyone of you… might be free this morning…?”
They looked back a bit desperately at Batwing, nudging him the tiniest bit.
Cypresstail || in elder’s den with Mockingbird
“Hm?” the old tom murmured, twisting in his nest to peer at the entrance. He had been curled up tightly, head on top of his paws, staring at the wall of the blueblossom bush in deep thought. If the elder was being honest with himself, he was both very keen to get on with the leadership-thing and hold the clan together and equally aghast at the idea. All he wanted to do was rest and sleep in this nice, peaceful, relatively private den.
Upon seeing his daughter, Cypresstail perked up, gesturing for her to come closer. “Mockingbird,” he said, pleased to see that she’s come to visit. “How’s your morning?” He gestured to her belly as well, eyes soft in their question.
Tangledthrush || at water’s curve with Virgil and Fadedecho
Tangledthrush let a smile shine through at the loner’s awe, then purred in delight. “Aw, I appreciate that,” she said. Then her ears twitched in habit when her brother’s thought entered her head, and her whiskers twitched in greater amusement. She waved her tail in a ‘Oh hush now,’ just as fond. ‘Wait a moment, I’ll introduce you.’
She could see the hunger in her new friend’s eyes, and her sympathy only grew. She would offer to share her fresh-kill, but she knew that even she would most likely reject out of pride, so she gestured at the water again. “Why don’t you give it a shot?” Tangledthrush crouched again with an encouraging glance. “Remember to give it a nip in the neck once you’ve got it out of the water, fish are slippery things.”
Then, to her brother, she thought, ‘What say you we introduce this lad to the rest of our rag-tag crew? With a little training we could have an extra set of paws.’
Jacques || in sea of pickleweed with Nettle and Rope
Jacques beamed at Rope, then at Needle. “How wonderful!” he purred. He led the two, padding in between the two of them. “Say, how long have you two been traveling together?” he mewed. “Oh, have you yet bumped into the clan over past the little lake over there? Lovely set of cats, them.” He recalled the snarling cats repeatedly spitting get out of our territory! fondly.

Batwing with Leafriver, Turtlepaw, Pondfrost, Brackishclaw and Glassyfern || Camp
Batwing flinched as Leafriver nudged him. He had hoped that they would do all the talking, and he could continue on his merry way, having not conversed with any snappy warriors. "Uh, hello," he said slowly, dipping his head and wishing he could disappear, "we need a.....favor?" Batwing cringed at his own words, and he thought of his mother - not anywhere near as anxious to say what she meant as Batwing was. He took a deep breath before continuing. "Well, actually, we need more herbs so that you all don't die. We can't go out there on our own, or else we might die, and then you'd have no herbs and two less medicine cats." Batwing's tail curled, and he feared the backlash from the warriors.

Turtlepaw with " " || Camp
Turtlepaw puffed out her chest, glad to have proven Brackishclaw wrong. When Glassyfern approached, she got excited at the thought of Seapaw coming along. He wasn't the most fun sometimes, but she liked to have her brother with her, especially when everyone else was a lame old warrior. There'd be no reason not to go if his mentor was going.
Her excitement faded - no, more like took a dive off a cliff - when Batwing and Leafriver approached. Whenever a medicine cat wanted to speak with you, it was never anything good. She rolled her eyes at both cats' nervousness - weren't they supposed to be some of the most important ones in the clan? And they couldn't even talk to a small group? When Batwing spoke, she snorted in amusement. "Seapaw would love to come along now, then. Do you want me to go get him, Glassyfern?"
Virgil with Tangledthrush and Fadedecho || Water's curve
Virgil nodded, peering at the water. He couldn't mess up now, right after she had shown him what to do. He hesitated before going up to the water though, looking at the strange molly. "Oh, I never told you my name. It's Virgil," he said, embarrassed that he hadn't even told her that. With that out of the way, Virgil sat by the very edge of the water, in an awkward posture that let him keep his shadow off the water.
His eyes lit up in excitement as he spotted the shadow of a fish. He resisted the urge to try and grab it right then, instead watching its movement. He looked for a pattern, like he'd been told, and to his own surprise, he found one. Feeling as confident as he could be, Virgil struck down - not towards where the fish was, like he had been, but where it would be in a second. His claws caught it, and he scooped it up onto the land. For a moment, he was so amazed that he'd caught it that he'd forgotten to bite its neck. It reminded him as it flopped about, and he killed it. He looked down at his trout proudly - while smaller than the molly's, it would at least stave off his hunger.

Pondfrost - w/ Leafriver, Brackishclaw, Glassyfern, Leafriver, Batwing - willowflower , highprince , showbiz "Of course we can get herbs for you." Pondfrost blinked, surprised at the medicine cats' anxiety over such a simple request. It wasn't like the warriors weren't used to the dangerous plants in their territory. She was always happy to help collect herbs, given her ability to walk out to places a bit harder to reach. "What did you need?" She tilted her head. Needle and Rope - w/ Jacques - willowflower "Couple seasons." Needle answered vaguely at Jacques' inquiry, not feeling exactly chatty with the strange tom. Rope gave him a rough bump on the shoulder, rolling his eyes, and spoke loudly for the first time that morning. "22 moonsh." He said, his words slurred from his lax jaw, but thankfully still understandable. He didn't get Needle's hostility- it's not like Jacques would have any motive to get hostile with them anyways. He flicked an ear at the rogue's next question, glancing in the direction of the group's camp cautiously. "Once or twice. We've learned which places they don't keep as close of an eye on, and we just hang out there. We weren't planning on staying much longer. Rope just wants to see that twoleg on its... 'boat.'" Needle tested the word out. He was used to the word "floating monster" or "silent monster", the words his own family had used, but Rope seemed to know much more about twolegs than the average cat, and had quickly corrected Needle.

[ willowflower Yeah that sounds good! maybe like, enough for three per day] Glassyfern || with Seapaw (can’t tag blu :<)Glassyfern turned to the medicine cats approaching the group, taking the time while Batwing talked to groom herself a bit. Drawing her paw over her ear, she snorted lightly at what Turtlepaw said. ”Nah it’s fine Turtlepaw, I’ll get him myself! Be right back, guys!” Taking a look around, he spotted Seapaw near the apprentices den. Trotting over, he said, “Oh good, you’re awake! Me and some others are going on a hunting patrol, wanna come? You could also go collect herbs with Batwing and Leafriver instead, I think Pondfrost might be going with them too? I’m not sure.” Glassyfern glanced over at his paw, letting out a quiet ‘ouch’. “You should probably get that checked out first, though. Don’t want it to get infected or something!”

((i love how both of our medicine cats are just like,,, talking to cats? n o p e foampaw has been added! ^.^ i would say after goldenleaf passed, both leafriver and batwing took over mentoring foampaw. since the medicine cats are pretty family-based their mentoring system is a lot less formal and more community teaching i'm also ridiculously pleased with this lovely color gradient i've got going here))
Leafriver || in camp with Batwing, Turtlepaw, Pondfrost, and Glassyfern
Leafriver wasn’t sure whether to be relieved and even more anxious at Batwing’s bluntness. They brightened up at the mention of Seapaw - the young apprentice showed a genuine interest in herbs that Leafriver couldn’t help but encourage, pointing out the different leaves and seeds whenever Seapaw dropped by the medicine cat’s den. It was always good, Leafriver thought, for warriors to also have a basic grasp of medicine.
Pondfrost at once eased the turmoil of anxiety within their chest, and Leafriver bowed their head gratefully to the warrior. “Thank you,” they mewed. “Glasswort, for one, though that should be pretty simple to get. We’re also out of goose tongue and goldenrod because of…” they trailed off awkwardly, regretting for almost daring to even bring the recent battle up. “I would also like to get my paws on some yellow dock, in preparation for any infections.”
Jacques || on sea of pickleweed with Needle and Rope
Jacques’ ears perked up. “‘Boat’?” he said with an air of interest. “So that’s what that thing is called? I always wondered if it was some unfortunate mutation of the creature. 'Boat.' Fascinating.” He looked out over towards the water, at the fog that had already settled over it. “Does that mean you haven’t seen it yet? Oh, you’ve got to meet the twoleg, it and I are great pals.” He beamed over his shoulder. “It might even have left some fish behind.”
The thought of the twoleg brought another thought to Jacques’ head and he jumped to a stop. “Oh! That reminds me!” He turned to Needle and Rope with a gleam in his eye. “Do you two want to see something cool?”
Brackishclaw || in camp with Batwing, Turtlepaw, Pondfrost, and Glassyfern
Brackishclaw at once turned his head towards Pondfrost, an almost petulant scowl on his face. “‘We’? I already planned on hunting,” he said, annoyance prevalent in his voice. He was not a fan of herb hunting, especially since the herbs were annoyingly difficult to pick. You always have to ask nicely first and thank them, and even then they might whack your tail.
“You and Seapaw can join those two,” he said almost dismissively, waving his tail. “Turtlepaw, Glassyfern and I'll get the clan something to eat.”
Tangledthrush || at water’s curve with Virgil and Fadedecho
Tangledthrush smiled. “Tangledthrush,” she offered.
As she watched Virgil carefully stare at the water, clearly keeping her advice in mind, she couldn’t help but feel a warm glow of pride in her chest. It reminded her of when she was training her own apprentice, back in the clan. (Her heart felt a pang - how were they doing now?)
“Good job!” she purred once Virgil successfully snagged his own kill. “And that’s how you do it!” She looked at him curiously. “If it’s okay to ask, are you on your own out here?”

Mockingbird // in camp // with Cypresstail [willowflower ] Relaxing when she watched her father lift his head, she padded forward eagerly settling herself beside him. His warm scent hadn't changed much over the seasons and it reminded her of simpler days. A hint of grief hit her, as it often did when she visited with Cypresstail. Their family was gone now, all of them having left to join StarClan. Her bi colored widened as she was brought out of her thoughts by the elder's questions. Purring gently, she smiled brightly, forcing away any melancholy she felt. "I f-feel a lit-tle sick and r-rounder than t-the s-sun," Mockingbird admitted, though there was no whine of true complaint in her tone. She was excited to meet her little ones. "H-How are you th-this mo-rning? P-Peaceful, I hope?" the queen asked, her tone careful. She would tear into any cat that saw fit to bother her father about leadership. No matter how pregnant she was.
Fadedecho // at Water's Curve // with Tangledthrush & Virgil [highprince ] Fadedecho grew quiet at his sister's light scolding, rolling his extremely strange blue eyes. He adjusted his weight on his paws, settling into the pickleweed which hid him from view. 'Extra paws are always useful,' he agreed briefly, paying more attention to the stranger. This tom, Virgil, was preparing to fish at the edge of the water. With his sister's guidance he even managed to snag a fish. That was truly promising. Thoughtful, the faded tom sat back on his haunches ears pushed forward to more easily hear the conversation between Tangledthrush and Virgil. Staying still for so long had tiredness pulsing through his system, making his eyelids feel heavy. Two nights ago had been the last time he slept but Fadedecho gave himself a firm shake. He refused to fall asleep for as long as he could avoid it. 'Well? Are you going to introduce me, or am I supposed to sit here in the grasses all day?' the tom projected to his sister, poking his head out from his hiding spot slightly.
Seapaw // in camp // with Glassyfern [showbiz ] Finally managing to grasp the thorn between his teeth and pull it out without injuring himself further, the twitchy tom licked gingerly at his bleeding paw pad. He winced every few seconds but didn't cry out, trying to be brave. Seapaw nearly jumped out of his fur, so focused on his paw that he hadn't even heard Glassyfern approaching. The green and white tom peered up at his mentor shyly, his natural timidness causing him to shrink into himself a bit as they spoke to him. His ears did perk up at the sound of an herb patrol of sorts, excitement building under his pelt. "Can I go with Leafriver and Batwing?" Seapaw tentively asked. Then he glanced back down at his paw. "I'll be alright," he promised, gingerly setting that paw down on the ground.

((the medicine cats need someone that isn't scared of warriors))
Batwing with Leafriver, Turtlepaw, Pondfrost, and Brackishclaw || Camp
Batwing relaxed as Pondfrost offered to help, and without any hesitation or sarcasm. He didn't want warriors that felt like they were owed something just because they had to go help the medicine cats. He nodded as Leafriver spoke, wincing as they nearly brought up the battle. "Goldenrod and goosetongue are very important," he agreed, knowing that being without those herbs for long would be a disaster.
When Brackishclaw spoke up, Batwing's pelt went hot. He should have expected that of any of the warriors, he would be the one to object. "Well, you enjoy your hunting," he said, and then adding under his breath, "and then you can have a muskrat to treat your wounds."

Turtlepaw with " " || Camp
Turtlepaw frowned as her mentor offered to help with gathering herbs. She hated helping with herbs - it was boring, and the medicine cats always felt disappointed if she didn't do it right. If her mentor was going though, she would probably have to go with. When Brackishclaw spoke, she nodded enthusiastically. "I'll catch lots of prey for you, Pondfrost," she promised, praying that her mentor wouldn't drag her along.
Virgil with Tangledthrush and Fadedecho || Water's curve
Having the fish at his paws made Virgil's hunger grow unbearable, and despite Tangledthrush's question, he tore into it. He ate like he'd never had food before, and most of the fish was gone in seconds. No longer feeling like he'd fall over, he sat back, licking his chops. Maybe he'd try fishing more often.
One of his ears twitched as he remembered what Tangledthrush had asked him. "Yeah, I barely even see other cats," he admitted. "I forget how long I've been on my own for. When my parents disappeared, I was still young - that's why I'm not a good hunter." Realizing he'd been oversharing, Virgil looked down, squeaking out a quiet "Sorry."

Pondfrost - w/ Brackishclaw, Leafriver, Turtlepaw, Batwing - highprince, willowflower"Well... if Glassyfern is going with you, shouldn't she bring Seapaw? Turtlepaw is my apprentice, after all." You rude furball. Pondfrost bit her tongue to stop herself from verbally adding any sharp comments to it. Herb gathering was important, and it wasn't going to kill them to bring some back with the prey, as long as they were careful. She could tell from Turtlepaw's expression that she really did not want to go herb gathering, but that only firmed her stance. The apprentice needed to understand there was more to being a warrior than hunting and fighting. "Turtlepaw and I can go herb hunting while Brackishclaw, Glassyfern, and Seapaw go out hunting." She turned to Batwing and Leafriver, giving a polite nod. "And if we do it well, we can go out on our own hunting patrol afterwards." She added, with a sharp look to Turtlepaw that she hoped would quash any complaints before they arose. Needle and Rope - w/ Jacques - willowflowerRope was already enraptured, from the moment Jacques mentioned being friendly with the twoleg. He was always happy to meet a cat as interested in them as he was, and while he could hear Needle give a huff behind him, he ignored her annoyance. While Needle was a loyal companion, she didn't share Rope's interest in the slightest. He gave a sharp nod at Jacques' offer, his tail twitching cheerfully. Needle was keeping behind them, still maintaining a leery eye at Jacques as though he would try to tear open Rope's throat at any second.

Turtlepaw with Pondfrost, Brackishclaw, Batwing, and Leafriver || Camp
Turtlepaw's fur spiked in anger when Pondfrost said she would drag her along on the herb patrol. She glared at her mentor, tail lashing. "No," she protested, knowing that Pondfrost couldn't technically stop her from leaving camp, "I'm not wasting my morning going out and looking for some stupid plants. I'm a warrior apprentice, if you haven't forgotten," she hissed, not caring in the moment about the scene she was probably making. "I'm going out hunting with Brackishclaw and Glassyfern, whether you like it or not. Seapaw's the one that actually wants to sit in the medicine cat den all day, he should be looking for herbs!"
Snorting angrily, Turtlepaw turned away from Pondfrost to look at Brackishclaw. She hadn't admitted it, but she had always been disappointed to get Pondfrost as a mentor. They didn't get along, and she never put her foot down about anything. Why couldn't she have gotten Brackishclaw instead? He was actually like her, and he sometimes felt more like a mentor should than Pondfrost did.

(-turtlepaw voice- youre not my REAL mentor) Pondfrost - w/ Brackishclaw, Turtlepaw, Batwing, Leafriver - willowflower , highprince Pondfrost blinked slowly, processing the words with a bit of shock. She had thought she was always patient and polite with Turtlepaw, and gave the apprentice plenty of freedom. Surely it wasn't so much to ask for a relatively simple task like this. Pondfrost had built her reputation on an even, almost submissive temper and overwhelming politeness, but the younger cat's sharp words made something a bit uglier stir in her. She swallowed quickly, hoping to keep down anything too hurtful, and then picked out the ones that seemed the least rude. "Alright, go ahead. and the next time you get injured, you can go out and ask the muskrats to fix you up." She said simply, turning her head to face Batwing again and resolving to not pay the apprentice any more mind. She refused to lose her temper over something so silly. "I'm sure Seapaw will be happy to come with me and help."

((oh turtlepaw, that’s exactly why i put u with pondfrost xD ))
Cypresstail || in elder’s den with Mockingbird
Cypresstail purred, happy as always to hear his daughter’s voice, and gave her a fond lick on the forehead. He wished the only thing he had to worry about were ticks hiding in his moss, the only thing he had to anticipate were his own precious grandkits, the only responsibility was overseeing the apprentices’ Battle Games. “The only bother I’ve received was from my own thoughts,” he said with a bit of a sigh, sending a silent thanks to Starclan for that small mercy. He gave Mockingbird an uncertain, questioning glance. “Have there been… talk?” he said, speaking with careful thought to his words. “From other cats?”

Leafriver || in camp with Batwing, Turtlepaw, and Pondfrost, Glassyfern mentioned
Leafriver looked back and forth between Brackishclaw, Pondfrost, and Turtlepaw with wide, uncertain eyes. The power was being tossed and grabbed and grappled with already before their very eyes - over a herb patrol!
Maybe they were reading into it a little too hard, but they couldn’t help but tense up themself as the tension in the air thickened.
When something seemed to finally resolve between Pondfrost and Turtlepaw (or start something worse?) Leafriver was looking a bit queasy once Pondfrost addressed them with the original Brackishclaw plan. “O-okay,” they said faintly. “Sounds good to me.” They looked over to where Glassyfern padded off, hoping to Starclan they’d be out with Seapaw soon and they could soon flee.
@nettles , highprince , showbiz
Jacques || in sea of pickleweed with Needle and Rope
“Excellent,” Jacques purred, now taking the lead. “Oh, watch your step,” he said, a dodging a particularly prickly saltbush that growled at him. He beamed back at the other two again, charmed by Rope’s enthusiasm and Needle’s scowl. I will impress you yet, he thought at the prickly loner.
It took a little bit of a trek across the sea of pickleweed to get where he wanted to go, with Jacques cheerfully engaging in conversation all the while (“So where else have you traveled? Is your fur always pointy? If you had to choose between fighting a thousand bee-sized toads and one bear-sized toad, which would you fight?”) When they got to the towering silver trees, Jacques looked up at it with a small shiver of wonder going down his spine. He always marveled at the strange, cold structure, standing tall and proud despite its age. “You’ll appreciate this, Rope,” Jacques said. “It’s a Twoleg Tree.” Jacques elegantly leapt onto the lowest branch, before promptly slipping on the smooth surface and nearly tumbling right off. He flailed a little, managing to scrounge up enough core strength to stay on, and beamed at the other two as if nothing happened. “Hop on,” he invited, reaching for a long, slender black vine looped around a branch. “Trust me,” he said, with a gleam of something a little more darker in his eye, “you’ll want to.”
Brackishclaw || in camp with Batwing, Turtlepaw, and Pondfrost
Brackishclaw completely ignored the Turtlepaw and Pondfrost drama in favor of getting right in Batwing’s face. “Sorry, what was that last part?” he said, lowering his voice in a challenge. “Didn’t quite catch that.”
Tangledthrush || at Water’s Curve with Virgil and Fadedecho
Tangledthrush noticed the hunger with which Virgil tore into his catch, and felt her heart go out to him for the third time. Even more so after his tale.
She thought to Fadedecho, ‘Oh good, because I would’ve taken in this poor cat whether you agreed or not.’
“No, no, don’t be sorry!” she insisted. “It must have been difficult, living out here on the marsh on your own.” Especially if he never learned how to hunt properly, she thought. “Listen,” she said, wanting to approach this carefully. “I’m… part of a group of cats nearby. We hunt together, we fight together, and we protect each other. We may not be all bound by blood, but we treat each other like family.” She waved her tail to the hidden Fadedecho. “I’d actually like to introduce you to one of us. Don’t be afraid - this is my brother, Fadedecho.”
Tangledthrush turned back to Virgil. “If you’d like, you can join us. You’ll still be your own cat - you can come and go as you wish, and your fresh-kill is yours. But you won’t be alone anymore.”
