The small, painfully thin tom forced a cheery smile on his lips as Cedarwing acknowledged his presence and even offered to give him something to do. Thistlekit was more than willing to help out, excited to do anything but try to amuse himself by counting the birds in the sky or daydream about hunting mice or chasing butterflies. There wasn't a lot to do for a kit who grew up with a clan on the move, except try and keep morale high by trying to positive when he could. "I'd love to help, just tell me what to do! We're trying to build the medicine cat den and the nursery right? I want to make a big comfy nest for Silverlily," the tomcat hadn't noticed he'd begun to ramble, tail swaying behind him as he grew increasingly excited. The silver molly had taken him in and seeing as he couldn't even remember his mother, she was the closest thing he'd ever had. Especially after Graystorm had died and left him an orphan. His gaze slid over to Tumbleblossom briefly and he smiled brightly at his aunt, delighted to see her. Between the two mollies and how close their small group had become, Thistlekit didn't really feel the loss of his parents at all... or at least that's what he convinced himself.
( So sorry this is so delayed! Gosh! >.< )

Thunderstorm snorted and shook out his fur, glad to be free of the medicine cat apprentice for a while. He looked back at Silverlily, thinking about saying something, before deciding against it. It would be easier for him to find a rabbit on his own - that and he could take all the credit for it.
He stalked off into the grass, keeping his body low and sniffing for rabbit. After a moment, he smelled one, and spotted it eating, head down. His fur prickled in excitement, and he took off without even thinking. The rabbit ran, and the chase lasted a moment before Thunderstorm leaped on top of it, biting down on its neck to kill it. It was far from the biggest rabbit, but it excited him so much that for a moment he thought he was supposed to find a live one to track. "Fox-dung," he hissed to himself, stashing the rabbit away so he could pick it back up later.
Continuing his hunt, he eventually found a burrow. Perfect, he thought, crouching further into the grass to watch. A rabbit made its way out of the hole and ran off, and Thunderstorm's muscles tensed as he resisted the urge to chase it. He needed to not scare it off, hoping it would lead to water. As silently as he could, he began to follow the rabbit - completely unaware of Waterpaw doing the same.

Despite not being older than her two companions by all that much, the young shecat only chuckled as they bickered between themselves, her ears twitching forward but otherwise electing not to intervene. The silver tabby had about as much competitive spirit as the average newborn had mean bones. She wasn’t going to interrupt their fun, but she was happy to leave them to their own thing. Finding a decent place to burry her prey briefly, she hadn’t caught scent of any predators nearby who might jump at the opportunity to steal the fruits of their labour, but as far as S8verliky was aware there was no such thing as too careful. Particularly when it came to making sure her clan was fed. Once she was quite certain no predator would spit their prey without digging and making a ruckus, the warrior turned away and dispersed into the long grass. Trusting her patrol to do as needed, and put aside their arguments if necessary in order to get their clan fed. Catching scent of a rabbit, she tensed with hope. Nostrils flared and moving as quietly as her paws would permit her too, she crept forward, trying not to make her hopefulness overwhelm her enough that she’d begin rushing. Maintaining some degree of a level head, it wasn’t long before a juvenile rabbit was in sight. Hopping obliviously through the long grass. Gathering her muscles beneath her, she slowed until her movements were as slow as ice melting in the early morning sun. The shecat was thin, and that Hunger drove her desperation as much as the want to keep her clan fed. That, and if this hunt was successful, it meant they might well have found a place to make theirs. A place her kits could grow to call home. With those hopes on her mind, she lunged. Paws colliding with the fluffy creature barely a beat later, and her heart flooded with delight. And quickly she began to return where she had left her first kill.

So little blu ♥ technically nobody but Waterpaw and Silverlily know, but it could be cute if she told thistle he wouldn’t have to be lonely in the nursery anymore and he accidentally spilled the beans for her, if your down for that?

Heck yeah that’s going to be adorable. Thistle: make a big comfy nest in the nursery for silverlily. Rest of the clan: you’re going to make a what in the where for who now?

(Everyone seems to be expert rabbit hunters despite never hunting them before We calling this beginners luck then?)
Ripplecreek tried to let his fur lie flat, taking a moment to calm himself and not think too much about the rising tension around him. He certainly didn't miss Pebblestripe's almost pessimistic comment and honestly, he couldn't help but feel the same. It was only a matter of time before things got worse before they starved or some other disaster wiped out the rest of the Clan. But it was no good to sit there and dwell on such things, instead, the tom wanted to focus on the positives and try not to think too hard about any impending doom that might occur.
"We could start by just pushing into the brambles, hollow out some of the insides to use as a den and then pad it later with some moss," he suggested first, turning his head to look at the cats currently around him. "I think I saw some moss not very far from camp and it would not take very long to go and collect some." And they would also need some for their nests as well so they could finally sleep comfortably instead of struggle sleeping on the hard floor. "We should split the work as well, some of us focus on the nursery while others start with the Medicine Cat den." But instead of deciding who would work on what he would let them pick themselves.
But with what sounded like a plan of action sorted, he straightened, blue eyes sweeping the remainder of the Clan. "Does anyone have anything else to add before we start?"

[ oops, sorry i haven't thrown mudpaw in for awhile. there are lot of words and my brain turned off. ] The young tom had fell silent as more and more felines joined them. He was content to listen to the mollies bicker. His whiskers twitching as he listened to their reasoning. There was a slight warmth in his chest when Ripplecreek agreed with his reasoning of the medicine cat den being close to the nursery. Mudpaw's twitched when Tumbleblossom mentioned something about underground storage and watched as Owlflight snapped at the deputy. He blinked slowly at the fiery temperament, although he guessed traveling for these past few moons have been harder for some. Mudpaw was content to pretend nothing was wrong, otherwise he envisioned he would be moody just like Owlflight.
A flash of confusion went across Mudpaw's face as the warriors insisted they needed to find building materials. Did they listen to Ripplecreek at all? They were going to mold out in the dens within the thicket first. The brown tabby shook his head and pushed himself back onto his paws. His yellow bright as he looked to the leader, "I am ready to get to work," Mudpaw stated, if they stood another bickered any longer they wouldn't get any building done today. "What den are we starting with?" he asked, casting his gaze around the camp as shifted on his paws.

[ ack, sorry for the delay in response! i got so wrapped up in stuff outside of the internet that i haven't been able to come on in a minute. please accept this hastily written reply ;; it is mostly... her thoughts/emotions of the goings on in the conversation so like feel free to ignore literally EVERYTHING and just read her spoken dialogue lol. again i'm so sorry for the late response ksjdgad
also, lowkey thinking about like... if no other cat heard thistlekit/caught on to what he said, maybe having him and cedarwing go out lookin for moss and she can just straight up ask him what he was talking about in the camp about silverlily... juuuuuust so she can figure out what to do with the info and angst over telling other cats or asking silverlily herself. idk. i just like the idea of cedarwing now knowing what the heck to do with herself ]
Cedarwing flashed a smile at the apprentice-aged kit as Thistlekit bumbled giddily beside her. At the mention of Silverlily, she paused, her smile faltering slightly. What? she thought to herself, her head tilting just slightly as she gazed down at the young tom. Her brows furrowed together. What does Silverlily have anything to do with the medicine cat's den or the nurs-
A voice to her rear prompted Cedarwing's ears to swivel backward - her thoughts flying away from her headspace - and she turned her head in kind to see the source of the voice was her deputy, Tumbleblossom. The long-haired she-cat took in the deputy's suggestion and pursed her lips slightly, her whiskers twitching with the movement. Thoughtfully, she mulled it over. It was an ambitious idea - especially since having underground burrows would require the clan to dig them out themselves (something that she wasn't wont to do) - though there was some merit in the suggestion. An underground burrow would help any of its inhabitants escape the blistering heat of the mid-green-leaf weather, and could provide someplace quiet and calm for kits and queens... but the effort required of the task was more than what the Clan could handle right now. Still, Cedarwing saw the validity in Tumbleblossom's suggestion and thought that it would be an interesting endeavor to take on, but perhaps later in the camp's development.
Before Cedarwing could respond with her own thoughts however, her breath was stolen from her as Owlflight bit out a scathing response. Cedarwing's fur bristled slightly and her whiskers twitched with fervor, eyes flicking to the mottled she-cat as she berated Tumbleblossom before the Clan. The warrior shifted uncomfortably on her paws. Should she say something? Was it her place? Surely not - Owlflight was older than her by some moons, and it would likely cause more unrest for her to open her mouth to correct the senior warrior. Even then, she was sure the Tumbleblossom was capable of handling the ornery warrior herself - after all, she was the deputy and clearly suited to keeping the Clan in check.
The thoughts buzzing in her head nearly tumbled from her lips before Ripplecreek stepped in. His cool response caused the fur to flatten on Cedarwing's back, and she sighed deeply in relief. "Thank the stars for that," she muttered before clapping her lips shut once more. Pebblestripe's own response cut in shortly after Cedarwing's quiet outburst, and the warrior hoped that her words were swallowed by the younger cat's dialogue. Curse her and her nonexistent brain-to-mouth filter.
The ensuing conversation's tone grew tense, then ebbed into something close to normal. Cedarwing couldn't do anything but flick her tail in mild uneasiness as she listened, her ears twitching slightly backward as Ripplecreek once again addressed the small gathering of cats. She shot a sympathetic look at Pebblestripe as their leader concluded with a question.
Cedarwing shook her head in silent response and also to just... clear her head, then said, "The thought of sleeping on moss is like birdsong to my ears. I can go and gather it - I've been wanting to poke my nose around the territory a bit anyway." She looked to Thistlekit beside her, remembering what the little tom had said before. Cedarwing twitched her whiskers. "I thought I would bring Thistlekit with me," she mused, her gaze flicking to her leader. "I mean-... If that's fine with him. AND-! And with you, of course. Since, you know-. Well-..." She stammered clumsily, not sure if what she was asking was entirely out of line and not wanting to get verbally cuffed over the ear for her suggestion by any of the cats present - Owlflight in particular. "I just thought it would be good... to... get out?" The warrior shifted on her paws in mild embarrassment. Get it together! "I mean, I think it wouldn't hurt, s'all. Since you said it's close to the camp, I figured it would be, you know, fine."

🇳ᴇcʀᴏᴅ🇦🇳cᴇʀ we can still write it as if the rest of the clan heard it as well! i was just throwing a suggestion out lol i think how my response is written leaves it a lil open ended so i don't have to edit much at all if we want to go the route that everyone heard him, so just let me know what y'all wanna do! if we do that, i can just have cedarwing be nosy while she's out with him and ask him a lot of questions bc... she's like that (that is if little blu ♥ is cool with having thistlekit go with cedarwing, pls don't feel pressured to ;;) table code written by sollux

Tumbleblossom looked between Ripplecreek and Cedarwing, the she-cat piquing her interest when she finally spoke. She suppresses the urge to chuckle in amusement at Cedarwing's stuttering, almost backpedaling on her words. Tumbleblossom couldn't deny that it was slightly adorable, remembering the times when they were just apprentices together. A sad smile crosses her features before she shakes her head slightly. "I think it would be a great idea for you to take Thistlekit, what do you think, Ripplecreek?" She asks the leader, looking over to the tom with a soft expression. With all that had happened, the tortoiseshell couldn't help but feel nervous about her nephew leaving camp, but he was practically an apprentice and should get to know their new territory as much as anyone else. Plus, she trusted Cedarwing to take care of him.
"I'll stay here and help dig out the nursery, if someone wanted to join Cedarwing and Thistlekit that would be fine but I don't think anymore than that should go out to retrieve moss." Tumbleblossom said, glancing to Ripplecreek once more as if to see if her suggestion was alright. She didn't want anyone thinking that she felt she had more authority than him, she was merely voicing her opinion. They needed a lot of cats to help on construction of these dens, not everyone could be going out to get moss.
Suddenly, Thistlekit's comment takes her by surprise. She blinks a couple of times before mulling over that the young tom was just excited to get moss for the she-cat. Not thinking much else about his statement, Tumbleblossom turns and pads towards the brambles.

Waterpaw || outside camp with Thunderstorm and Silverlily
The rabbit seemed to wander and pause a lot, sniffling amongst the grass and washing its face. Waterpaw’s muscles were starting to ache a little from holding her tensed crouching position for so long. Still, she carefully followed it, one paw in front of the other, trying to remember all the basic hunting skills her fellow clanmates had taught her on their journey. Her focus was so intense, in fact, that she barely noticed the rustle of grass just a few fox-lengths away. It was just when the sound of rushing water was growing stronger when she looked up and saw Thunderstorm’s ginger pelt through the tall grass, standing practically across from him.
“You!” she hissed. Then, of course, the rabbit’s ears perked up at once, its head popping up and eye staring right at her. Then it took off.
“Fox-dung!” Waterpaw let herself shout as she took off after it, making sure to give Thunderstorm a glare as if it was all his fault right before she leapt into motion. The rabbit was fast, but she’d learned from her first rabbit that she’ll burn herself out trying to match its speed, so she let herself trail behind it, just trying to keep it in sight. Waterpaw could almost feel the warrior clipping at her heels - whether he actually was she couldn’t tell. All she knew was that she was determined to get to the water source before him.
The rush of water was growing louder though, clearly in front of her, just as the rabbit darted to the right. Waterpaw charged ahead, ears perked forwards, heart bursting with hope - then the river swarmed into view. She shouted with joy, and ran to slam her paw on the riverbank first.

(Oh, what if there was a waterfall at one end of the river? Probably one on the smaller side)
As Thunderstorm followed the rabbit, he heard the sound of rushing water - it was faint, but it still energized him. His mouth felt drier than it had beforehand. The sound filled his ears and he ignored his aching muscles. He was almost there. He would come across this river, or whatever it was, and be seen as a hero once he got back to camp.
Then, something hissed, scaring the rabbit off. It took Thunderstorm a moment to realize it had been Waterpaw, close enough to him that he was ashamed to have not realized she was there. "Birdbrain!" He hissed back, before taking off after the rabbit and the apprentice.
As he ran, he was always just behind Waterpaw. No matter how hard he ran, he couldn't seem to pull in front of her. He wasn't about to let this little herb-muddler get to the water before him and take all the credit. Maybe she'll get her name for this, Thunderstorm thought, finding it amusing, our new medicine cat, Waterwater. Pride in his dumb joke and the overwhelming sound of water gave him the push to come up neck and neck with Waterpaw, and as he did, he tried to push against Waterpaw with his shoulder. He could claim that he got to the water first and see her fall in the mud.
