The idea of something soft to sleep in was admittedly a wonderful one, her limbs ached from moons of sleeping on dirt with only her clanmates for warmth. She was about to respond but the apprentice interrupted before she had much of a chance. Her ears perked forward, eyes brightening with delight at the sight of the cotton tailed creature. She had to bite back the growl of her stomach at the sight, though she permitted herself to rasp her tongue hungrily across her lips, white fangs flashing in the early morning sun. The queen much like most of her clan had grown skinny from travel and the treacherous moons before the travel, but she had to remind herself she wasn’t hunting for herself. What the small patrol caught would go to the neediest, and if she was lucky there would be enough left for her. You’re a queen now, she reminded herself and the realisation made her cringe. Today of all days wasn’t the time to assert those rights, there were plenty of cats more in need of what they might catch. Watching as the apprentice slunk into the hunters crouch, she said nothing, tense and hopeful that the first hunt on this territory would be a successful one. But she was distracted by the sound of rustling among the long grass in a different direction. Slinking away at a steady pace, paws treading silently even in new ground. She spotted the source of the sound, a plump brown mouse, not quite the feast the medicine cat apprentice had found but prey was prey as far as she was concerned. Carefully she approached, eyes narrowed but heart racing with excitement, she lunged. Paws colliding with the unexpecting creature, oblivious to its looming doom, and didn’t even have the chance to squeak before things were over. Silverlily returned from the long grass, triumphant and delighted, the mouse limp in her jaws as she her patrol once more.

((sweet!))
Out of the corner of her eye, Waterpaw could see Silverlily shifting away, but didn’t take her gaze off of the hare that rubbed at its face in the long grass. Heart rate picking up speed, she slowly creeped towards it. Along the journey, she’d been so busy picking up herbs that she hadn’t the chance to practice her hunting, and the fact made her nervous as she approached the hare. Waterpaw set each paw down, carefully, silently, using the wind’s whistle to mask the rustle of her fur against the grass. However, just as she got a pounce length away, the hare’s head perked up, dark eye wide as its head swiveled to stare at her.
The two of them stared at each other, just long enough for Waterpaw to think Oh I’m downwind aren’t I before the hare took off. “Foxdung!” Waterpaw hissed as she leapt for the creature, but it was fast. Refusing to let up, she chased after it, almost desperately, paws pounding the earth as her breath quickly turned to heaving, her legs starting to shake after just a few seconds of sprinting. After a desperate chase, Waterpaw finally slowed, gasping for breath, as the hare scampered off into the grass. Defeated, the apprentice dragged one paw in front of the other, harsh breath clawing at her lungs. “Foxdung,” she said again, trying to catch her breath.
Then she noticed the stronger scent of rabbit, and looked around curiously. After poking around the grass, she found a cluster of rabbit droppings close by. Then another. And another.
Is there an abundance of rabbits here? she wondered, a spark of hope in her chest. There was prey here. There’s got to be a lot of prey here. And where there’s prey…
There’s water.
And, just as she thought that, her ears twitched. The soft rush of water, somewhere in the distance. She turned her head over her shoulder, noticing that she hadn’t gone too far from the group. Really couldn’t run that far huh, she thought dryly - though, at the same time, the relative openness of the land made it relatively easy to spot her clanmates. Silverlily’s tiny head popped up above the grass - she seemed to have caught something. At least one of us did.
Waterpaw waved her tail to them, not wanting to call and disturb potential prey, excitement in her chest. Once (well, if) her clanmates reached her, she'd tell them her thoughts: If they could simply follow their prey, their prey might just lead them straight to water.

Thunderstorm watched as Waterpaw dropped into a hunter's crouch, and he opened his mouth to tell her to stop - how was a medicine cat apprentice meant to catch prey? She took off after the rabbit, and Thunderstorm lashed his tail. "Foolish apprentice," he grumbled, "not even a warrior apprentice. Should stick to looking for herbs."
He saw Waterpaw waved her tail to them, and he made his way over to her. "What was that? Did you really think you could catch a rabbit, of all things? You're a medicine cat-" Thunderstorm scolded, suddenly much more aware of the hunger in his stomach. His chewing out of Waterpaw stopped when the strong scent of rabbit hit him. Why in the world would it smell so strong here?

Waterpaw gave Thunderstorm an unimpressed look as he padded over. “So rude,” she huffed with a flick of her tail. “No harm in trying, is there?” Still, his words snuck under her pelt and itched at her, making her flush a little warm with embarrassment. She tried to hide it by tossing her head. “All paws on deck, right? Might as well have every cat who can try their paw at hunting. What, you got any tips for me?” She met his gaze with some stubbornness - it was more of a challenge than anything.
Noticing Thunderstorm stop in the middle of his statement to sniff the air, she said dryly, “Anyway, the reason I called you over here is because I think we’re close to the main rabbit tunnels. We’re bound to pick up a few more pieces of prey around here.” She nodded over where Silverlily was with her mouse. “And, if there’s prey, there’s water. If we followed one of these hares, I’d bet you my right paw it’d lead us straight to their water source.” Then, a bit sourly, “You can stick around and hunt if you want, I can go myself and go 'looking for herbs' while I’m at it.”

Dissapointed with herself for not electing to go after the rabbit herself; she had trusted the apprentice enough to be able to catch it, but had clearly overestimated the youngster. All the same the young warrior elected to stick up for the youngster, shaking her head as she commented to Thunderstorm. "All of us have missed prey," it was perfectly true. Even the best warriors in the clan mistrod occasionally, though not many would have blundered quite as much as the medicine cat apprentice had, Silverlily elected to ignore that latter part. Leaving the conversation there, the queen spotted Waterpaw seem to sense something, and steadily pad away. Only a beat later did the see the wave of her tail - a request to follow. Uncertain, the silver huntress obeyed, a mixture of curiosity and concern seeping through her bones as to what the shecat might have found. Her eyes widened at the sight she was greeted with. Lunging down to the waters surface, she all but submerged her face as she drank desperately. Only stopping to breathe briefly with a lurch upright, but once her lungs stopped burning back down once more. When her desperate dehydration was quenched she sat up, panting and dripping somewhat from the muzzle. Her grin bright with delight. They had a water source, and that meant their journey might well be over. They could build everything else, but water wasn't so easy to do. "We can do that, see if we can catch anything for back at camp," Silverlily responded, her rumbling stomach apparent with every word she said. Nodding as she listened to the apprentice, she chuckled and said quietly. "Don't worry Waterpaw, I hear herbs are a bit less likely to run away.

Hopefully with a nursery built it might be incentive to fill it once more with the next generation of MapleClan. Ripplecreek knew that if they had any hopes of their clan surviving for much longer, then they would need new kits, more to continue on the Clan legacy long after he had parted and taken his place in StarClan. And when those first kits were born, the first ones on this territory, then he could only imagine the relief he would feel, knowing that they had finally made it and were starting to properly rebuild. Building dens was one thing, but it was pointless if there was no one to fill them.
"I can see the benefits of building the Medicine Cat Den near the nursery, yes," he agreed with a small dip of his head towards Mudpaw who had made the suggestion. When there were pregnant Queens it would be important for Waterpaw to be able to reach them in a hurry if there was an emergency. Though Cedarwing was also correct, it would need to be dry enough to store the necessary herbs and large enough to contain several cats if there was a need to. Though he hoped not for some time, MapleClan didn't need another tragedy so soon after hope was starting to rise.
Padding a little closer to the thicket he had pointed out, Ripplecreek took a moment to poke around, getting a proper look at things before taking a small step back. "Perhaps to start we should focus on placement and size, then we can worry about how things are going to look on the inside. If we work out where everything is going to go before starting, that would leave little room for errors further down the line when we realize we haven't made enough room for something."

"Good idea, we could actually do our jobs that way. Warriors can be warriors, and-" Thunderstorm said, moving on front of Waterpaw so he could flick the end of his tail over her nose condescendingly, "a medicine cat can do what she actually wanted to come out here for."
Thunderstorm looked around, hoping to either see or scent a live rabbit instead of just a bunch of droppings. He would be the one to find the water source, wherever it may be. He was sure of it. Then he would return back to camp, a fat rabbit in his jaws and good news to share. He would walk into camp to a chorus of thanks, having saved the clan. The flame point shook his head to dismiss the daydream - he had to focus right now so that it would actually come to be.

Waterpaw promptly bristled at Thunderstorm, then took a deep breath and forced her fur to lay flat. Only Silverlily’s good natured joke held her tongue from whipping out a quip of her own. Part of her was now furiously plotting on how to train in hunting under the moonlight, if only to swipe one of those rabbits right under Thunderstorm’ nose.
“Uh-huh, okay,” she said. “I’m going to go find a rabbit now.”
She promptly turned from Thunderstorm and crouched, vanishing into the tall grass. She felt a little bad for leaving behind Silverlily with Thunderstorm but now her pelt was hot with determination to be the one to find the darn water source. Let’s see if I can find one of those tunnels. Sniffing the ground, Waterpaw carefully tracked the scent of rabbit through the grass, trying to pick up any tracks in the moist earth beneath her paws.
It took her a little wandering and weaving through the grass, but at last she discovered a little burrow tunneling into the ground. With a leap of delight in her chest, she crouched a safe distance away and watched, closely. It didn’t take long for a little rabbit nose poke out of the hole, look around, then bound off into some direction. Slowly, carefully, Waterpaw stalked after it.
((hey wouldn’t it be funny if the three of them spot and follow the same rabbit but don’t notice each other in the tall grass until a few seconds later, scaring the rabbit, then furiously try to be the one to catch the rabbit/find the water source first? then all end up at the river at the same time anyway lol (thunderstorm and water paw would probably be the ones making it a competition, silverlily’s probably just trying to help x3)))

Tumbleblossom She-cat - 37 Moons
A diluted tortoiseshell she-cat with a white chest and toes and dull green eyes
Tumbleblosssom is tall and sleek she-cat with gray and orange tortoiseshell markings. Patches of white cover her chest, chin, and toes, however there's fur missing on the back of her left paw from being mildly burned by the fire. She was a slender molly before, but even more-so lately. Her bright green eyes have dulled from the recent hardships, gaze always lost in thought as she still grieves over family and lost clan members. Tumbleblossom, even now, is a confident she-cat, always finding tasks to keep herself occupied. She is firm in her beliefs though tries to stay open-minded and listen to others. Once excited to settle down with her own family, Tumbleblossom has been inspired to put all of that aside to rebuild the clan she's fiercely loyal to. Really stepping up into her role, the molly has tried to take on the burden of others in an attempt to avoid confronting her own baggage. When it comes to outsiders, Tumbleblossom's new policy is claws now, questions later. Spot filled: Deputy Relationships: Sister to Graystorm, Thistlekit's aunt Screen name: 𝑅𝒶𝒾𝓃𝓎🌧
(let me know if this is alright and if I need to apply any changes, my mind was wandering a lot while typing all of this out ^^' )

Tumbleblossom had opted to stay and help build the camp instead of joining the patrol, no matter how much her paws itched to be running around and discovering their new territory. As deputy, she felt it was equally important to help inspire the new layout of their camp that would, hopefully, raise many generations of Mapleclan cats. Despite there being so little of them left, Tumbleblossom knew this would not be the end of their persistent clan. She was confident their numbers would grow now that they've found a more permanent spot to rest, realizing she could let herself relax a little more because soon they would have a place to call home once again.
While staying mostly silent as Cedarwing, Mudpaw, and Ripplecreek laid out where the nursery should be, Tumbleblossom sat towards the back of the group and observed. Her green gaze took in the ground plan of the clearing and she let out a slow sigh, her mind racing with thoughts on where they should set everything. Placement was crucial and once they began building and digging there was no going back. This was just another step that could potentially be a setback for regrowing their clan if they were to make haphazard decisions.
"What if we made an underground storage for the medicine cat den." The tortoiseshell finally spoke up, looking to the others. "That way we would only need to worry about space for Waterpaw and sick cats. The herbs could be stored in a tunnel underneath the den, or maybe even just outside of the camp." Tumbleblossom offered, just trying to think of ways they could preserve space. After she spoke, the deputy couldn't help but look to Thistlekit as he approached them. She couldn't stop the smile on her maw as she gazed over her nephew, thankful to Starclan that at least her brother's kit was spared from the destruction of the fire. While she missed Graystorm and his mate dearly, she knew that she had to set her grief aside in order to not only be a good deputy for her clan, but at the very least to protect her only kin left.

Owlflight in camp with Tumbleblossom [ 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 ]. - The old queen was in camp with much of the rest of the camp, entrusted with the duty of figuring out just what to do about their camp. She kept to the outside of most of the warriors opting to observe at this point rather than to jump in paws first and help. This was unusual for the she-cat... but the only thing that seemed to be able to overshadow her drive to help her clanmates was her need to criticize them.
Owlflight already disagreed with where the small group currently thought that the nursery would be. She found it to painful to speak up on this aspect however... the she-cat wouldn't voice her opinion from personal experience as a queen, because as far as Owlflight was concerned, that experience didn't exist anymore. But when her deputy, Tumbleblossom, put out her idea, Owlflight couldn't help but let out an amused snort. The mottled brown cat limped closer to the group of warriors, wincing a bit as she bumped some of the old burns on her leg along the ground. "Underground storage?" She huffed dismissively, looking between Cedarwing, Ripplecreek, and Mudpaw to see if they were as appalled by this idea as she was. "Tell me Tumbleblossom," The she-cat meowed silkily, her dull gaze straight on Tumbleblossom with completely unwarranted hostility. "Would you suggest we build an underground nursery too? So that it can collapse on top of all out kits or flood every time it rains?" She sneered, tossing her head haughtily. "It would be a foolish idea for something as precious as kits or herbs."
[ in advance, i am so sorry she is like this lmao. ]

Ripplecreek was quite fast to pick up on the hostile tone of Owlflight towards his deputy, quickly turning towards the slightly younger she-cat with a cold gaze. "There is no need for that tone, Owlflight," they couldn't afford to argue among themselves. They needed to work together, there was no point in bickering or starting arguments with each other when there were so few of the Clan left. "It was a good suggestion," he added, deciding back up Tumbleblossom, though he had no doubt that his deputy could back herself up just fine if she wanted to. Though it was still strange to think of her as his deputy instead of Silverpool. Though Tumbleblossom had managed to hold the position for longer than Silverpool had before that River crossing had taken her life. But it was hard to think about, so the tom decided to push it from his mind and instead tried to focus on the matter at hand. No point getting all caught up in the past.
"There are ways that it could work," he was still thinking about the idea of creating an underground storage, "We could reinforce the inside of the tunnel so it doesn't collapse and create streams to direct and drain rainwater away so it wouldn't flood." Though it was just a suggestion and maybe it was not the best of ideas. It sounded like an awful lot of work in the longrun, and Ripplecreek was more towards the idea of getting things up and running as soon as possible. "For now, however," he decided with a nod, "We should just focus on building a solid den."

[ Hi! I would like to join, as I find this clan VERY interesting. My form is below .
Pebblestripe she-cat - 18 moons
a lanky, dark gray tabby with piercing amber eyes
Her ashy-hued tabby pelt covers Pebblestripe’s rather small frame, as she lacks the standard muscly build and instead has a long tail and legs and small paws. Her facial features are more rounded, as she has small, round ears, wide amber eyes, and a round black nose. This warrior’s striped fur is usually soft, when it isn’t covered in whatever forest litter it picks up. It is not that she is unattractive, but Pebblestripe rarely bothers to clean her coat, leaving her looking rather unkempt. It is not only this she-cat’s appearance that makes others hesitant to approach her, but also her aloof nature. Though she is not outwardly hostile, Pebblestripe often struggles with communication and opening herself up to her clanmates as she is afraid of others growing fond of her and eventually losing her. With a rather pessimistic outlook, she is convinced it is only a matter of time before she too dies. Recently, she has been attempting to have a more positive point of view, but it has been growing harder as things are looking more grim for the clan. Spot filled: Warrior 6 Relationships: i think it would be interesting for her to be the daughter of Willowpool and Ripplecreek, but only if it is okay for ᏼꮖꭱꭰꭱꮖ🇳ꮐ Screen name: badfrog ]

(hey badfrog and thank you for the interest! Pebblestripe looks great, but with how things are set up I would need her to be a couple of moons older! As the fire was 6 moons ago she would have only been 10 moons at the time which is apprentice age, and there has been no time for any warrior ceremonies with everything going on! To be a warrior now she would have had to be a warrior when they left, so about 18 moons old now at a minimum. And as for being Ripplecreek and Willowpool's daughter, I would be alright with it! She would have been from their first litter so it could work)

Pebblestripe ⇁ Camp. Open. ↼ Pebblestripe, upon hearing Owlflight's response to Tumbleblossom's idea, shot the brown and white she-cat a sharp glare. She found it unnecessary for such hostility, especially since tensions were already so high in the clan. While Owlflight's attitude was uncalled for, Pebblestripe could not help but feel the underground concept would be easier said than executed. Floods and collapses would be constant concerns, especially if kits and/or herbs were being kept there. Perhaps Ripplecreek's idea for a solid den would be best, for now. With the clan's numbers dwindling, rebuilding the camp would prove difficult to accomplish. The thought of it discouraged the warrior, but she knew she had to try her best to provide for her clan in order to secure their future. "I agree, I'm not sure that an underground tunnel would be the best option. Even if we redirect streams or structure the tunnel, we would have to worry about heavy snow. If we are going to build a solid den, I think we should start rebuilding as soon as possible," Pebblestripe spoke, voicing her urgency. "The dens don't need to be too large, at least not until the clan grows larger. But in order to start building, we need resources. Not only building materials, but food and water too."

Owlflight in camp with Tumbleblossom [ 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 ], Ripplecreek [ ᏼꮖꭱꭰꭱꮖ🇳ꮐ ], and Pebblestripe [ badfrog ]. - The brown warrior stifled the urge to roll her eyes at Ripplecreek's scolding words. She didn't take kindly to being spoken to like a kit when Ripplecreek and her were practically the same age. Owlflight respected him enough as Mapleclan's leader, however she held some very deep seeded hostility towards him because of the tragedies Mapleclan had experienced as of late. Of course, it wasn't the tom's fault, but... Owlflight was the type that preferred having a scapegoat. She snorted at the tom, but didn't say anything else, and backed off of Tumbleblossom.
Owlflight made note of Pebbledtripe's glare, and she was sure that the leader's daughter wasn't going to be a fan of her attitude if her father wasn't. However, the old queen was surprised to hear that both Ripplecreek and Pebbleshine took some sort of agreement with her opinion and she shrugged her skinny shoulders. "Either way," She announced, still sounding haughty and her tone demanding more authority than it probably deserved. "Pebblestripe has a point. There's already a patrol out searching for food and water... but what about building materials? What do we intend to build the dens out of?" She questioned, looking around at the congregation. As prickly as the she-cat was, her question was honest, and she was open to answers or suggestions. The territory was still horrifyingly new and the resourced available were unknown to Mapleclan as of yet.

Tumbleblossom's fur bristles as her suggestion is immediately met with hostility from Owlflight. She gives the she-cat a pointed glare, about to open her mouth to retort back when Ripplecreek speaks before her. She forces her fur to lie flat, calming down enough thanks to their leader who seemed to support her idea. She was a little frustrated that she couldn't express her annoyance at Owlflight being so critical of her idea when the older warrior hadn't come up with any of her own, but she knew if she had said something it would've most likely boiled down to a fiery argument between the two of them. The tortoiseshell just hated her tone and how she talked to her as if she didn't know anything. If she didn't know anything then why would Ripplecreek choose her as his deputy, then again she wasn't his first choice, but Silverpool was gone and now she had to step up into the position. While she honestly didn't think she'd ever be chosen as deputy, she was trying her best to pick up the pieces that were left for her and do the best with what she's got, the molly just wished more people would see that.
Her tail lashes to the side and she sighs as Pebblestripe throws in her two cents. "He just said that's something we wouldn't be focusing on right now." Tumbleblossom snapped at the younger warrior, misdirecting her frustrations on Pebblestripe. She hadn't meant to, but she was still a little embarrassed from Owlflight chastising her earlier. She exhales slowly and shakes her head slightly, looking at the tabby she-cat with a softer expression. "Sorry, Pebblestripe." Was all she expressed before turning to the others.
"We might as well try and figure out the layout of the dens then explore the resources this forest has to offer. Let's just focus on one thing at a time." Tumbleblossom added, casting a weary glance to Owlflight to see if the she-cat would object to her suggestion once again.

Pebblestripe ⇁ Camp. 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 ᏼꮖꭱꭰꭱꮖ🇳ꮐ 𝑓𝑜𝑥 . ↼ Pebblestripe's ear flattened in embarrassment in response to being snapped at by the deputy. Of course, she understood that planning everything out first would be smoother for the organization of construction, but she couldn't help but feel that the clan was working with limited time. "I understand, Tumbleblossom," she spoke now with a quieter tone. "I know we are working with limited resources and clanmates right now, but we can't afford to wait. It's only a matter of time before..." Pebblestripe paused her train of thought, looking down at her paws for a moment of recollection. Now was not the time to be bringing up such a grim attitude, that would help no one. She released a hushed sigh before continuing. "I trust your judgement on this situation. I'm willing to help in any way I can."
