Defiantly something like that!!!  I think that would be really fun. I love spooky season and since Clari is a werewolf, it just makes my heart happy I guess. I think we could do so much with that idea and maybe one of our stones could come from it? Or maybe another clue to the stone? We could defiantly work it into finding the next piece if we wanted.) |

{ So sorry for the hold up, everyone! This month has been chaotic at best, and I got hit with a migraine for a few days, but I really hope to have something up by tomorrow. Hope you're all doing well <3
Anyways, I really like the idea of a Día de los Muertos and Halloween mashup; that's what I was imagining as well. I also think the group getting a clue from a celebration of it could be cool. After all, the holiday is a direct result of the Cataclysm so. Maybe they have to deal with an angry spirit? Maybe it foreshadows their ancestors being worse than they thought? I imagine a lot of spirits would be angry at our group, being the descendants of those who caused the end of the world and all. Although the majority of the population thinks it was only indirectly. I'm not sure if we'll still be in Sanctum or Heavenly territory by then, but probably Sanctum, which means we could see different species throwing in their own unique twists on the tradition. Or maybe some species even have it on slightly different days? }

Yeah, it would be really cool if they came in contact with a spirit that knew some of the ancestors before they died. The gang comes across it and tries to get it to move on or possibly forcefully exorcise if it's mean enough. Before it does, it drops a hint that the ancestors were a no good, dirty bunch and also provides a hint to the next piece.
Perhaps they can be making their way out of Sanctum. That way we can still celebrate the holiday, but swiftly move into Heavenly territory.)

(Okay, so I didn't want to post anything before I got a reply up, but that's slow going and I don't want to lag too far behind or keep anyone waiting.
So anyway, I'm really loving these ideas! I would like some sort of Halloween thing/concept/atmosphere to be incorporated somehow. It would be really fun. I like the idea of each family having their own version of how they celebrate the Cataclysm. It could be really fun/allow us to be creative. Also, piggybacking off of Shoot's idea from the previous page, maybe different parts of the Sanctum celebrate this day/week/season/etc. in differing ways. Like one part is more about protecting people from vengeful spirits and helping others move on. Another part is more about the party aspect of it. Another one could maybe be about tricking people. Perhaps this could also be a cause of which families high a higher population in each district.
I think also having it towards the end of their stay at Sanctum would be good, so we can progress forward. Speaking of, what is the plan from here? Our four guys(Alex, Lilah, Avani, and Clari) meet up and plot to steal the necklace with Lu, Lys, Redis, Zane, and Cris(Also maybe Gabriel)? Just before they steal it/as they're running away, the attack happens and we get Caspian to come in. From there they head to the meeting place of leaders where at least one from all/most of the families have been killed. At least, that's pretty much the plan right now, right?)

{ Yeah, I am definitely into each of the species doing/interpreting something a little different for the holiday. I just really love the idea of a vengeful spirit terrorizing them, it sounds really fun/cool. I think having them Sanctum would be a good time for it to happen.
Also, I had a dream about this RP again, I guess I miss it. I was Zane that time.
Right, so, we've never gone into a lot of details of how exactly they would steal the stone. My general plan so far is as follows (obviously open to suggestions):
EDIT: For how they meet up, since Clari/Avani/Gabriel crew are heading to the bar, maybe Alex or Clari overhear the other group talking about the prophecy (since they have enhanced hearing). Or they just "feel" the other prophecy people close by. Probably both.
I think Clarisse dancing with Azar again and straight up snatching it off him and yeeting away would be pretty fun. I also know we talked about a good scuffle with the rich, which I think needs to happen because it's hilarious to me. Also, maybe somebody cuts off the power for a distraction too? The everyone runs out and piles into the fancy, rich person car Alex stole, and they drive off into the night. Considering we're bringing several other characters into the mix, there's a lot we could do. At some point during the heist though, the group gets separated, because at least Zane and Redis need to be left behind at the party for the attack. Or maybe some of the non-chosens choose to stay behind to hold off anyone after the prophecy group.
Everyone's all giddy and on an adrenaline high from successfully pulling off their grand scheme when the attack happens. Essentially, it starts out as a bunch of magical, eldritch horrors from beyond the barrier showing up in Sanctum. They run around, destroy buildings, terrorize/kill people, cause general mayhem, etc. The prophecy crew + other mains get caught up fighting with them, during which Caspian shows up to help. During said attack, one leader from each of the nations is killed, save the Shifters. This is because Clari's mom dies in the attack from one of the monsters, which she doesn't know until later.
When the monsters appear to be dwindling and forced back, the cult shows up to wreak a little more havoc. Prophecy group meets cult leader who basically treats the whole thing like an elaborate game. Finally, everything bad is forced out and the battle ends. Group heads over to City Hall or whatever it is and meets with the remaining leaders. They find out about the leaders being assassinated and all the Families do the Spiderman meme at each other. The prophecy crew just wants some more info/help, but the leaders are all uncooperative and dealing with the aftermath of the battle. Only the Heavenly leaders are really any help, which sort of ties in with the next part.
So everyone dejectedly goes to stay in the rich person hotel because we can't not have luxury in this RP. We will pretend to be rich forever. Next morning, Caspian announces his dream about the next stone being somewhere in a shipwreck in the middle of the ocean. Everyone is like "that's super vague and unhelpful," but Lilah knows a naval historian in Sanctum who runs a bookstore from her childhood. The bookstore is conveniently next to Lu's uncle's tea shop because we have to go there. Everyone gets to read and drink tea and Bond while they search for clues about the wreck's location (the ship sinking itself is famous, but nobody has ever been able to find the wreckage). This would probably be where they meet the vengeful ghost and the day of this world's Halloween equivalent. The spirit is haunting the bookstore I guess. Before they get rid of said spirit, it foreshadows their ancestors being garbage, but also a vague hint about the wreck's location.
Prophecy crew sets off to Heavenly territory because the crash is off their coast, and also the leaders already offered to help with the prophecy in any way they could. On their way out of Sanctum, they get to see all the Halloweeny stuff going on. So they go to Cloudhelm to talk to the leaders (flying ship for transportation, anyone?) and also meet with an Oracle for reasons. Then we can have more foreshadowing for each character's arc. After they faff about Cloudhelm for a while, it falls out of the sky and they barely escape with their lives, again. Then the crew goes to get a ship (Caspian can sail, btw) and head off to find the next stone, facing challenges such as: evil sirens which are probably some corrupted species, seasickness, storms, etc.
Also, if you guys want any more side characters to tag along with them, that's fine with me. We already have Zane, so I wouldn't mind bringing Lu, Cris, and/or Lys along too. I don't know what plans you all had with them, but... I do be liking them. We could always just see them at other points in the RP too, since I know having multiple characters can be a bit much to deal with. If it's something you're interested in though, I'd be cool with it. }

Dang, so many dreams about the RP. XD I never dream about RP related stuff though I have had some really good story ideas come out it. I also remember those really well which I'm grateful for because I would hate to forget good story ideas. That would suck!
In regard to what y'all have said, I'm down for Clari to swipe the necklace. I do want Avani to shine since it's her stone so maybe Clari can swipe it and then immediately get it to Avani so she can have her trial. I kind of love the idea of Clarisse stealing it off his back without him noticing and then slipping away. However, I much more enjoy the idea that she gets caught half way through and Azar is just offended like "How could you? I thought we were having fun!". And of course, it turns into a scuffle after that, but Clarisse and Avani manage to pry it away from him. XD
I like all the ideas thrown out. The only thing that I think is a bit odd is them going to City Hall after the attack. I feel like the group would probably get of dodge instead of going back into the fray though I do understand them seeking help from the Families. I'm down for anything though. I'm just here for a good time. XD
I also forgot that Caspian is next up. The idea of him being a sailor makes perfect sense in my mind even though it makes me giggle a bit. XD)

It involved a werewolf war, hiding in abandoned warehouse, Zane running back for cornbread he forgot, going to an unexplored island, Irene and Clari being awesome, and more. I just think about it a lot, I guess *shrug* I too get a lot of story ideas from my dreams. This one was really interesting.
Yeah, I hear you on that. My thought was that the stones can technically be taken by anyone, but the activation trials are the more character-centric parts. I was planning on the activation trials taking place between getting the next stone anyways. Maybe instead of Clari stealing the stone though, she merely distracts Azar by dancing with him and Avani is supposed to swoop in to grab it. Azar notices and gets angry, so Clari just starts a fight because she would and Avani can then get away with it. Alex meanwhile steals car. Everyone else does whatever. I think cutting the power could be fun still. Then group rejoins for big escape.
That does make more sense they would just leave, I kinda just wanted a chance to interact with the other Families' leaders, but we could weave that in later on. Also, I wanted Lilah to stick it to her family for once, but that can also happen later on. It'd probably work out better later on because then the group will be more comfortable/friendly with each other.
I'm glad you find that fact funny also lol }

I've never tried making one but I like reading about them. Highly recommend In the Land of Invented Languages by Arika Orkent, it's about a few. Also you could try David J. Peterson's The Art of Language Invention. He's the guy who developed the conlangs for GoT. I haven't read it, but it's on my shelf.

{ I hate college applications with every fiber of my being. I recently got my AA, so I've been having to deal with them again. Fall semester didn't work out for me because COVID, so here I am doing it again end me
I love them so much. Languages in general are just so interesting. I'm really too dumb to make one myself, honestly, but I am trying. Honestly, this app does most of the work for me, I'm just working on making it more personalized... which is turning out to be more difficult than I thought because I am an Idiot. I might have to start bombarding you with questions about this stuff because I just Don't Get It. Also... I would love to work on languages for the other Families if you all are ever interested 👀
Ugh, that sucks. My old dorm was like that, but thankfully it was barely cold there. I currently live somewhere that actually has the seasons now, so that's fun. There's something about cooler weather that energizes me, no clue why though. }

Hey, all the more to you! I could maybe come up with an alphabet and that is it. Props to you for going for it! I'd be happy to try and field some questions, but honestly idk what I could help with. The best advice I could give is to keep it in control. From what I've read, when conlangers start to discover linguistic phenomena outside the languages they know, they start to add in way to many things that end up complicating the language a lot. Now complex languages are awesome, but that might be a bit much for your first go. Yet again, maybe that's exactly what you're looking for! So really... idk. Do what you want to (:
I like autumn weather a lot, but actual winters scare me. That's probably just my Californian self being used to fire season, late heatwaves, fog, and little to no rain, but the idea of snow still kind of weirds me out. I completely understand that it is a thing and I have been in the snow before, but I have never actually *seen* it snowing. Honestly, most of what I have an issue with is just the linguistic terminology. I'll understand if I'm only focusing on like one thing, but my brain is old and mushy, and gets confused if I have to combine my knowledge of anything to make it understandable. I'm just playing around with the customization options for now. It's just fun, really. Might make an alphabet and glossary for some more common terms. Everything else... remains to be seen.
Autumn is the peak season. No I am not taking criticism. I've lived in mostly warm climates my entire life, but I really want to live somewhere that gets the full four seasons. I love snow, but I can understand aversion to it. When I visited Alaska it was really cool. It didn't snow much, but there was still a lot on the ground. And everyone owns a dog. There are dogs everywhere. And bear statues. Also, moose are a lot bigger than you think. Once I saw two people dressed as knights battling in a park while a crowd gathered and watched. Another time I saw the aftermath of a car accident where both cars were unscathed, but one had one of its front wheels on the other car's hood. I have idea how that happened either. Truly, a magical a place. }

Linguistic terminology can be quite something, yeah. I can do my best to help out but honestly I'm not super optimistic xD I just remember trying to learn about linguistics on my own in high school and getting so confused by very technical terms and phonetics stuff and the like. That's probably why I gravitated towards sociolinguistics, the terminology was so much easier to grasp.
Add that to the list of things this RP supports! So we have commas, run-ons, hugs, autumn... what else?
The knights battling sounds hilarious, lol. My aunt lived in Alaska for a while and yeah, her tiny town had a bunch of stories. Most involved bears (they lived near a river that the salmon loved, so naturally the bears came around a lot too). Luckily they hadn't had any serious incidents in a while last I heard, only funny anecdotes. ]]

I've been having a lot of fun with it. I will probably end up making languages for all the Families, because it's so interesting. Sucks that I'm an idiot, but that's show biz, babes *finger guns* }

{ I was reading about the different accents we talked about the species having way back near the beginning of the RP and I hate that I'm too stupid to figure out what options to use to properly encapsulate said preferences in the language. It's probably going to require a bit more fooling around on my part to figure it out. Nonetheless, I really want to do it, so I will eventually.
I did, but it's cool. To be fair, I haven't thought a lot about how Mages should sound or the type of language they have. Shifters I imagine would have the most variation, because I like to to think their languages in "human" form would mimic the sounds of their animal counterparts. For werewolves I think we discussed there being a lot of changes in inflection and tone. I don't know what we said about Heavenlys, but given their inclination towards music, they would probably have a really flowing, melodic language. Not very sure about Infernals (aside from vampires) or Elementals yet. Mages I just feel like would have something overly-complex with a lot of variations. Like I said though, me being Big Dumb, I have no clue how that would all be incorporated into these options.
Also, I really really wanna start RPing again, so I'm gonna try to get something up tonight. }

Yeah, I think it would be super cool if the shifter accents are incredibly hard to pin down because of the massive variation within the species. Like you said, werewolves would have a harsh low pitch to a piercing high pitch whine or a bird shifter would have a melodic, singsong, pleasant, or trilling accent. I kind of imagined Heavenly’s having the equivalent to a Russian accent because of the way Amber characteristics Avani, but you know. XD I feel like mages would fall into something more... stuffy. Something with a lot of structure and rules while also being needlessly complicated. Infernals are a hard one because they are just hard to pin down all together. Perhaps something that is very choppy and disjointed (not pleasing to the ears??) though I would have to assume that it would be incredibly varied like the shifters. I also feel like Elementals would have a more structured language.

Also, languages oh my gosh. This is rough, but I have the undeniable urge to make it overly-complicated and customize them all exactly how I like no matter how long it takes or how hard it is even though it would be so much simpler to just generate any old random language and slap it to a Family. All these diacritics and vowel tones and idk even what else... why. Fricative this, diphthong that, idk how linguists do it. Yet I am infatuated }

If only I had this much dedication towards other areas of my life :') }
