(I was a little busy the past two days, but I finally got this done!
Starchaser No worries, as I said I was busy myself so you had to wait for my post too. I think the opening was fine, I just hope my transition is a smooth as I think it is. Also, no worries about Lilah's mental distress. Poor girl needs to let it out so her friends can help support her and they work through it all together. Also, Lilah and Redis bonding would be kind of funny. Have something where it's like Lilah talks about her problems, then Redis overhears, and they just start lamenting together.
Pft yeah, yay for less concern over realism. It's close enough. Probably. Anyway, I'll be in the same boat. I'm definitely going to be the designate driver of my friend group, though I'll make like my dad's friend and have food on their tab. Anyway, sad drunk Lilah time? This is going to be interesting.
Yeah poor Lilah. She needs a hug and people to talk her feelings out with. Also, I don't think he'll see the night as terrible, especially if there's a heist to be had. Also, that's a fun bit of lore with the swearing to the stars thing and something Crispen would probably take fairly seriously. Also, I think I might vaguely remember something about the ghosts manifesting in the real world. Even still, it's a cool idea, one that could cause much hijinks. Speaking of which, would they only appear to their descendants/the chosen or can they chose who they can and can't appear to? I think the latter could be fun, but I'm not sure what everyone else thinks.
I honestly love how unintentionally opposite the two of them are and it's kind of funny considering, as mentioned, how they're two of Lilah's closest friends right now. Also yeah, that's pretty accurate.
mossecho I haven't commented on it yet, but I really love the layouts for Alex and Lu. The pictures for Alex are nice and really set the mood for a mysterious kind of character. The red also fits with it nicely. As for Lu's, it's just so bright, colorful, and cheery. I think the picture fit her and it's a nice contrast considering the rest of our layouts are darker. Oh and I really like the quotes. Haven't watched DW in years and it's not something I'll seek out any more, but I remember those episodes being good. Also yay for fictional characters taking up the quote slots.)
The vampire's grip tightened on Crispen's hand. The hybrid stiffened, the message clear. This Alex fella wasn't exactly fond of him. It only lasted briefly, though it was a tense few moments. Despite what just happened, the half-mage still smiled. He didn't want Lilah to get distressed again and besides, the was no harm in trying to be friendly with someone who probably didn't like him much. In fact, he was used to smiling at people who didn't exactly care for him. Of course, they also usually didn't show their dislike in a physical way, such as forcefully squeezing his hand. The attention was removed from him and back towards Lilah as she spoke to Alex once more. They exchanged a few words and it seemed the vampire also liked to thank people a lot.
After a moment, Alex acknowledged him again. He called Crispen by his last name and complimented his honesty. It sounded like a compliment at least. The vampire finished with a wide, toothy smile, which the hybrid returned. "Honesty is good. I mean, I don't have much of a choice being half-fae and all, but if that wasn't an issue I would still be truthful. Probably." Even for little comments like that, he was always inclined to tell the truth. It could get really frustrating at times. Usually it would be like an annoying itch that wouldn't give away until it was scratched. The bigger the lie, the more compelled he was to tell the truth and the more obvious the tell. Even if he could control it when telling a pratice lie, it wasn't always foolproof. The man was pulled from his thoughts as Lilah apologized for her brother's behavior. Crispen shrugged.
"Not your fault he was acting all rude and a little intimidating. But, I'm glad to know my eavesdropping wasn't too terrible and that you've forgiven me. Seems that's something we're both good at," he mused with a grin. As Alex asked how the mage was doing again, Crispen watched her closely for a moment. She smiled at her vampiric friend, but her voice shook slightly and she appeared uncertian about her answers. Her eyes shifted around uneasily and it was clear something seemed off about her, almost panicky. Before he could ask what was wrong, Lilah snapped. She had already mentioned her ancestor earlier, but only in passing. Was this some sort of effect of drukenness or was it something more? Crispen couldn't be sure. The mage let out a shaky breath and called herself stupid. The hybrid frowned. He couldn't do much as she backed away towards the wall and sank onto the floor. The man took a careful few steps towards her, hoping she was alright. After a moment, she seemed to collect herself, looking back up at the two of them. She finally asked if there was a place to sit down.
"Lilah, you're not stupid, alright?" He whispered softly as he approched further. He wasn't sure how much his words helped, but hopefully it would do some good. Now for the next order of business; finding a place to relax. Luckily he knew exactly where to bring them, where it was unlikely they would be disturbed. "Yeah, I have somewhere we can go and a friend we can see. You'll finally get to meet Lysandra, she'll be able to help clear your head. Probably. Oh, Lys is a good friend of mine, Alex. I think you might like her." The vampire seemed quiet and Lys liked the quiet. How could they not get along? Crispen nodded for the vampire to help Lilah up. Once she was secure, he began to head through the crowd, trying to stick to the edge of the room. A few people eyed the small group as they passed, though most spared no more than a passing glance.
It didn't take long to catch sight of the bar. The elemental was just where Crispen had left her. Besides her, the pair of servers tending to drinks, and the occasional guest ordering, there were two men chatting at one end. One was attractive with black hair and a noticeable scar on his lower jaw. The other was a younger man with red hair who was kind of cute. Hopefully they were too distracted to pay attention to any of them. The elemental woman passively watched the people around her. Either she was scouting out targets, watching people for the hell of it, or some combination of both. Crispen decided it was probably some combination of both. Lys smiled as she saw him approch, only for it to morph into a suspicious scowl as she caught sight of Lilah and Alex. He would have some explaining to do.
"Hey, Lys," he quickly greeted before she could get a word out. "These are my friends, Lilah and Alex. So remember that conversation I mentioned to you earlier about that Lancaster guy and the prophecy and my eavesdropping? Well, his sister, Lilah, ran into me again and we got to talking, apologizing, and the like and now we're friends. This is her friend, Alex. He's a vampire and is kinda grumpy I think- or maybe quiet is a better way to describe him -but don't let that dissuade you." He leaned towards her slightly and whispered, "Lilah here's a little tipsy, so maybe you could help her. You're good at dealing with drukenness."
As Crispen pulled away, Lysandra blinked a few times and looked between the three of them. She drew in a deep breath and straightened her posture, no longer leaning against the counter. "Firstly, Cris, when it comes to that sort of thing, I'm good at 'dealing with drukenness' because I can burn it off. The reason for this, is because of my powers, which you already know. Besides, do you really think bringing a drunk person to the bar was a good idea? Anyway, that doesn't matter, why did you bring them here? We already have to watch ourselves because of that little stunt earlier, and... Wait, did you say Lilah was Gabriel's sister? As far as I know, he doesn't have one, so I guess it wasn't Gabriel you were talking about... Whatever, that's not important. What is important is the fact you've gotten chummy with a Lancaster- a Lancaster you tried and failed to steal from -and now dragged her to me. Her and her friend."
"I know it's not ideal Lys, but she needs help. Despite my charm and friendly nature, I'm not sure there's much I can do. Besides, I kinda swore on the stars I wouldn't leave her." Lysandra paused, stared at the curly-haired man, and blinked. She let out a laugh.
"Oh, this night just keeps on getting better and better." She snagged the half-empty drink beside her and downed it all at once. "Get rid of them, Cris. We've drawn enough attention to ourselves tonight and these two will just draw even more. I'm sure there are people better and more equipped to help your friend. Maybe you should find another mage to take care of her or something."
"Aw, come on Lys, don't be so harsh. If you can't help her, why don't you just let her hang around a little instead? It'll be good for Lilah to take a break and I'm sure Alex would like to sit for a moment too. Besides, the three of us can make sure she doesn't have anything else besides a little food or water. Surely you would be fine with that." Crispen made his eyes go wide and pouted a little. He wasn't sure if that actually worked on her, though that didn't exactly matter. Lysandra wasn't heartless, she was just a little rough at times. The black-haired elemental stood stiffly for a moment. To the untrained eye, it didn't look like she was backing down from her decision. However, the corners of her mouth faultered slightly, there was a subtle slacking of her shoulders, and her eyes softened a smidgen. Finally, the woman slowly nodded and let out a breath.
"Alright. I know you won't back down from this and it's not like you're being rude. Let's see what I can do." Lysandra shifted her foods and drink closer to the corner of the bar and away from a stool. She motioned Lilah forward to take her spot as the half-fae smiled. Yes she was a bit rough, but Crispen knew she had a good heart.
