[[ I'll do my responses tomorrow but Amber, I like that idea for getting the various groups all together! Just to clarify, where are all the characters? I know at Lysandra is at the bar and Crispen, Alex, and Lilah are somewhere inside, but where's everyone else?
also alex could go to the bar for a drink, thus moving that trio over there and getting himself drunk ]]

(Sounds good. It's 1am here, so I would assume it's probably similarly early in the day for you too (assuming you're from the US at least). But yeah, seemed like a fun way to get everyone together; meeting at a bar area.
Avani, Clarisse, Wendell, and Gabriel are outside right now in the backyard talking.
Having Alex needing a drink would also be a great excuse for them to go there as well. Then we can all watch poor Crispen as he freaks out having to deal with two drunk people.)

{ Amber Yeah, I second that! I'd like to see more of Lys too.
mossecho Clarisse, Avani, and Wendell are with Gabriel in the garden, as Amber said.
Alex: Being drunk is indecent and unbecoming. Where do I sign up?
Crispen, having to deal with being yelled at by Lys and Gabriel, and trying to deal with two drunk people: Why me? }

( Starchaser I love Crispen (and Avani, but I'm talking about my side characters). He's been very fun to write for and I've enjoyed his interactions with Lilah and Alex despite there not being as much with the latter. But, I do want to write more Lys because she's a bit sassy and fun, and I'm alsobexcited to explore her powers. Pft yeah Cris: Hate to ruin your fun yall, but please stop so I don't get in trouble.Anyway, good night and talk tj you guys tomorrow.)

Starchaser Amber Brokenstar Here ya go guys! So sorry for the wait! I've had a lot of family health issues come up within the last week and had to end up coming home because we were worried about my grandpa. I also have two tests next week that I'm studying for so lately it's just been... a lot. Anyways, i hope this works everyone in well enough!)
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
The Chosen Werewolf ✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
Gabriel's hand was soft and smooth, unlike the calloused and nicked hand that he held. The contact grounded her and she shook his hand in the way that her Papa had taught her: firm and quick. Shifter's didn't make use of handshakes much, but she had been educated on the more normal greeting from a young age. Clari stepped back after he released her hand and surveyed him once more before giving an easy smile.
"Gabriel Lancaster. Yes, I remember the name now. Though you'll have to forgive me; I'm not very well versed on the Families. We shifters tend to put our noses in the sand, you know." Clarisse gave him a wicked smile and her eyes glinted as she held her hand up and picked at her pointed nails. "Yes, well, I'm be a good little werewolf and get along with the other kids. This time."
She allowed herself to fade into the background as the others talked about an object that she had never seen before. Curiosity made her lean forward to inspect it, but she kept quiet as they discussed the it. If she was less confident in herself, Clari supposed that she might have felt embarrassed by the lack knowledge on the subject. Arfen, she hadn't even seen a cellphone until this morning.
Shifters had no need for the technology though there was some smaller packs and flocks off to the north east employed some of the simpler technology. Who needed a cellphone when Rafe had blessed them with the ability to communicate through Belua? It was a mostly lost practice, but some of the pure bloods could still send messages and pictures through the mind. Once, when she was still a pup, she had asked her mother why they didn't use Belua like that anymore and Irene had just flushed.
It wasn't until years later that she found it was mostly a mating practice in modern society.
But hey, it was still available and accessible so who needed a a fancy piece of tech? Not her. Clarisse studying the people in the crowd after that and allowed her senses to drown out the three as they talked. It was all foreign to her anyways. The scent of sandalwood and old paper lingered in her nose; she sniffed a few times to memorize it for later. She was in the middle of sizing up a waiter that held another round of drinks, lip bit and trying to keep herself from drooling at the thought of food, when Gabriel answered her question.
Clarisse stood up a little straighter to disguise the fact that she had completely forgotten about the question. I wasn't thinking about food. You were thinking about food! Listening to him explain, she fingered a piece of hair that had freed itself from the tight bun, "I see."
Though she had every right to be unnerved by the admission, Clari sighed as a wave of comfort washed over her. No, no. Don't do that. Don't get excited for someone to take the brunt of responsibly. But how could she not be thrilled that there was someone in the group that knew what they were doing? Sure, it took some of the fun out of the adventure, but the potential payoff of having direct them was huge. The world might be in better hands if someone on the team could help them accomplish tasks faster.
She twirled the piece of hair as her head cocked to the side, "So this Lilah is the one we need to be looking for... right then. So we'll have two Lancaster's with us or are you just aiding Wendell in finding everyone?"
It occurred to Clarisse that her question might have already been answered and that she should pay more attention like Wendell had said. But Clari shrugged off the commentary and plowed ahead.
"I'm sure she's fine." Clarisse said in responce to Avani's question, a tender smile forming on her lips at the concern that laced the Angel's voice. She was so attentive to emotions of those around her and Clari was living for it. Avani reminded her of Devon in the softer ways that she held herself, the ways she spoke and expressed emotion. Maybe that was why Clarisse already loved her. "Gabriel probably wouldn't be talking to us if the issue was serious. Am I right, Gabe?"
The waiter from earlier made a sweep up to them again and Clarisse almost howled for joy to see that instead of wine or champagne (though she would have appreciate those too) it was filled with hors d'oeuvre. Waiting patiently with slightly disgusted eyes, the male watched as the heir to the Alinsky Pack greedily swept all of them into her hands and cradled them like an infant. She juggled them for a second and then shoved them into her mouth. The waiter shook his head, mumbling something as they walked away empty handed.
They were gone before she ever noticed what they were. Meat probably. It didn't matter to her. Clarisse couldn't bring herself to care when her stomach craved something. Anything!
She was still mourning her empty stomach when she came back into the conversation, "My ancestor seemed the most cooperative. He told me to come to Sanctum in five days - yesterday - but Evaric didn't tell me how to find the group. He just told me that I needed to. Oh and he also told me to take Azar's necklace. Avani seems to thank it's important as well. My other dreams were just blood and bone. We all d-."
Clarisse forced herself to stop. No need to tell them that she had seen all their faces covered in sinew and their bodies broken. Besides, her chest still burned from the silver arrows that had littered her chest. Yes. There was no need to be dramatic.
So she bit her lip and moaned at the thought of more food, "You think they have anymore of that? Rafe, that was delicious. Do we have to search for Lilah and the vampire? Can't we just go eat? I'm so hungry."

In the meantime...
I know literally nobody asked, but I got a little bored and was rereading everything on the RP (don't ask why, idk, I like obsessively rereading things) and decided I wanted to know how many words I'd written. No reason, just as a writer who never really writes, I was curious what kind of progress I would have made if this were a story, so I ended up counting up all our posts and... y'all
We've basically written a novel together.
With my genius (admittedly, bad) skills, I've discovered we've written +175,000 (just want to remind you that most books over 110,000 words are considered epics), or the equivalent of approximately 374 pages on Word (Times New Roman, 12 pt font). The forum pages don't do it justice. }

Well damn that's a lot of words. Wonder how long it'll take to reach the length of Rhythm of War. For reference, it'll be 460,000 words. 2,000 more than the previous book.)

{ Well, assuming we average about 11,667 words per page, it would take us about ~39.4 pages to reach 460,000 words. So, about 24.4 more to go. Course, that's not taking into consideration we had quite a few pages that were mostly chat, so it'll probably be less than that. I have terrible math skills though so *shrug* }

{ I actually had fun doing it! I say I hate math all the time, but I think there must be some part of me that doesn't... when I can figure it out it's almost soothing, in a way. Maybe I just find the process satisfying, idk. Anyways, I was surprised too, mostly by just how much we've done, and this isn't even counting all the worldbuilding and extras. I should totally recalculate this every roleplay "phase" or something.
Also, not sure if anyone cares, but I didn't really explain this well in the post so: I calculated the average word count two ways. For the "by post" number, I just took the total words divided by the total posts. For the "by character" (which is a dumb way of wording it, tbh) I added the average words from each character and divided them by the number of characters. I'm not sure what other ways I could have done it, so I went with those two. }

Starchaser Oh I do too. He's quickly rising in the ranks so most beloved character of mine. And that sucks. As someone that has never experienced something like this, I just hope that it's realistic, you know? I can sympathize with a loved one leaving, but not in a romantic sense. I'm here for sad and emotional cause things are gonna get crazy and then even more sad and emotional. I would be totally down for Zane to try and save the Alpha's. Maybe they are together and he tries his best to save both, but only Myrek makes it. So he's still seen as a hero cause both of them might have died if it hadn't been for him. Or whatever we want really. However, I have a problem brewing in my mind. If one of them dies tonight (tonight in rp) wouldn't Clarisse know? I just don't feel like she would still run off to go on an epic adventure to save the world when her mom just died. So here's my two options that I'm thinking: 1) She doesn't know because the attack happens after they escape in the fancy, stolen get away car. This would be Zane an even bigger incentive to go tract Clarisse down. Maybe Myrek tells him to go bring her back and that's his excuse to leave the pack without putting himself in too much danger. 2) She does know because the attack happens before Alex steals the car. This would mean that Lilah and maybe Alex (also Caspian depending on his connections) would have loved ones killed in the attack as well. So the group also starts a hunt for the attackers as they are trying to save the world. I think we talked about the Cult attack being connected to the humans on the other continent so maybe finally find them while retrieving the stone over there. That would be some juicy angst. Opinions????? And gosh dang, I already love the idea of them being brothers. Honestly, I've had the thought of Arfen being a malformed version of Rafe for a while. If Rafe is the epitome of grace, than Arfen is his distorted counterpart. He could be a conglomerate of many animals hence the reason why Belua allows other forms than just a wolf. He's not evil, just misunderstood and therefore outcasted. The Omega to Rafe's Alpha if you will. He takes in the lost souls, the ones that Rafe in his scrutiny rejects. But hey, I'm down to hear your ideas as well because I'm also down to brainstorm mythology. It's one of my favorite things to do Also, cause I'm throughly enjoying all the memes and gifs here's another one Zane and Clarisse and not Redis cause he's an infant:
Redis O'Bri “The earth has music for those who listen.” - Shakespeare ♜ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ♜
The harsh thanks barely felt like thanks at all. Redis couldn't help but flinch at the other male's tone. It was unsightly for him to exhibit such an action when in came to rough, but Zane exuded a quiet dominance and Redis was submissive by nature. While Clarisse's dominance mirrored her mothers, ever present and imposing, Redis couldn't help but compare Zane to her father. The silent leader that rarely spoke above a growl. Besides, the rough lines of the male's face and the ever present crease in his brow made the lanky male believe him to be older. Maybe not by much, but older nonetheless.
So Redis curled in on himself slightly and looked away, not wanting to start a fight. Even with wine flowing rapidly through his system, the red hared male was uninterested in making the male's mood worse than it obviously was.
He bit down on his lip suddenly when Zane growled, his frustration palpable. I want to. Forget it. It doesn't matter. Redis's eyes grow sad alongside Zane's as if he sense what was coming next. The longing to stay was written all over the male's face, but there was a torture there. Something kept him from staying and something kept him from leaving.
No. I can't.
To that, Redis tipped back the last of his wine. It had been so obvious when Clari had told them that she was leaving. He had been the first to voice the option to her even though she had immediately crushed it. Or had she? Redis tried to think about to that moment and realized that she had left him with hope. Hope that he could go save the world with her.
Ah, yes. I remember. He wiped at his mouth. She had given them the option to come with her, but had throughly crushed any chance for him to come along as well.
"...And Redis's whole family is in our pack. He would be leaving them behind. I can't ask that of him..."
More like she didn't want him to tag along. His lips smooshed into a tight, angry line. He would have left with her if she asked; he would have crossed the world for her in a heartbeat. Yet, it was so painfully obvious that Clarisse didn't want him to. Did it matter? Not really. She was still leaving regardless of his feelings, Arfen, her parents feelings on the matter.
Sometimes Redis thought Clarisse quite selfish.
It was a lie but Redis nodded his head and said, "I think I understand. Why you have to go I mean. It's the same reason Clarisse is leaving. I just... I can really see you fitting in here, you know? Despite the way they appear, the Alpha's are some of the most genuine werewolves I've ever met. They would come to love you in time. We all would, I think."
Redis returned the laugh with a nervous smile, but looked away again, "I mean... there is always going to be someone suffering in this world." He shallowed deeply, fingers fiddling with his glass. "But if it eases your conscience, I think you should go. No matter the motivation... I don't think you should feel guilty for any choice you make. And you're not an idiot... though I'm not sure what to say to you not deserving a second chance..."
The oppressive atmosphere suddenly became heavy enough that he felt his lungs would collapse. Redis looked down at the ground and felt the prickle of hot tears form in the backs of his eyes. Why did he feel like he was saying goodbye... forever?
His light green eyes shown with barely contained tears as he gazed at the sorrowful male and said softly, "I would take you back. I know that doesn't mean anything considering we barely know each other but... I don't know. I mean, Clarisse likes you. Yeah... I think they would welcome you back to Zane."
His glass shook as he tilted it up to his lips, barely holding back the tears of an emotion he had never experienced before. It was akin to mourning and bitter like the loss of laughter around the dinner table. He had only known Zane for two days, he hadn't even begun to trust him fully yet, so why did he feel like he was loosing something?
"I think Arfen has all of our souls... Rafe hasn't been very kind to us lately, has he?" I LOVE REDIS SO MUCH I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER HAD SUCH A TENDER CHARACTER)

{ @shootforthestars Mm, I have not good thoughts about this post, but whatever. Have some Zane angst, I guess.
He's just so good <3 I think it's realistic. I mean, I'm sure everyone experiences it differently, but I don't think anything Redis has said/thought/whatever was unrealistic or wrong or whatever. It's definitely something that can last a long time, I'd wager unrequited love lasts far longer than returned love by virtue of wistful "what ifs" and the like.
Give me all the angst and emotions.
Oh, yes, let's do it that way. That'd probably put a somewhat interesting twist on it. I was actually going to bring that up, but I figured you knew your character best, lol.
1. I think both options could work, but I might be leaning towards option one. I think it could be really intriguing. Zane would go after Clarisse anyways, I think, but having her father also make it a mission for him could be very cool. Then maybe he could even decide not to tell her at first because he's worried she'll give up on the prophecy and he's like "no, world more important" and doesn't tell her until quite a bit later, maybe also choosing to reveal his original goal then. For the angst. Because i imagine this would lead to a fight and definitely a lot of tension between them before they maybe reconcile. Also, not really important, but I think we originally planned for the attack to happen right after?
2. This would also be fine, and having Clarisse also go out of wanting to get revenge for her mother (especially given the cult is attacked to both the attack and the curse) would be supremely interesting. Maybe culminating in her either getting revenge or having to forego it to focus on saving her friends/living people. Maybe she has to let the one responsible get away because she has to intervene somewhere else, idk. We could take it a lot of ways. Lilah was already going to lose a relative (I think her aunt?) in the attack, but she isn't really that close to her family, though she does care for them despite not really wanting to. Gabriel is probably the one she has the closest to a real connection with, but he plays a certain role later on I need him for. However, her mom is dying later on right after she meets her again so she'll have plenty of angst for that.
Anyways, it's your character so definitely go with whatever you think is best, those are just my thoughts
Oh, that's all super cool! My original thought was that Arfen was a sort of Hades to Rafe's Zeus. So, they originally would have been a sort of yin and yang brother duo that were equals. Neither thought of as inherently good or bad, just both powerful and important forces in balance. Then there's the myth of Arfen's fall, which paints him in a more negative light and makes him the death god. He would have always been in charge of spirits/death, chaos, and justice though, while Rafe would be life, order, and mercy. I wasn't 100% sure how I wanted the story to go, but maybe with the whole "conglomerate" thing, he (being in charge of souls) brought other types of shifters to the good afterlife and would answer their prayers or whatever, which invoked Rafe's anger. The brothers fought and Arfen ultimately lost, losing his control over the mortal world and being relegated to the "underworld" or whatever. He is responsible now for "evil" souls only and had his form "corrupted," giving him other animal features. Needs some work, but an idea. Hence why little bit of worldbuilding at the end is shaky at best.
There's really a gif/meme for everything, huh? xD }

[[ Hey everyone, so sorry about the pause between posts. This is obviously a WIP, but I'll post when it's done. (:
This is not necessary knowledge at all, but Alex's quote is from "The Lazarus Experiment," a Doctor Who episode. Whenever I try to think of good quotes, I only think of ones from Doctor Who, so... here I am xD. I dislike that episode, but it's a nice quote so I'll use it. Also those photos are the only ones I had on hand that I thought miiiight fit Alex's "theme" or whatever. I don't have many photos w/ a lot of red, so gold it is. Kinda amused by how his main fears (for lack of a better term), fire and sunlight, ended up being his images.
Lu's quote is from "The Almost People," another Doctor Who question (wow, such a surprise). Also I'm just gonna pretend that the crow photo is just a very large wren or something like that, idk xD ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez “Some people live more in twenty years than others do in eighty. It's not time that matters, it's the person.” - The Doctor (written by Mark Gatiss)
✩ ⤛ ☽ The Chosen Vampire ☾ ⤜ ✩ Alex continued to glare at Crispen. His grasp tightened, a physical indication to match his stare. Again, Alex had no idea if the human could see his eyes. They were so unobservant, it was hard to tell what they could see. At least a harsh handshake could let the server know exactly what Alex thought of him. Crispen Vladimiri was too pretty a name for someone so... improper. The name demanded respect, but his speech was impulsive and childish. Alex scrunched his nose at the fae's all-too-casual demeanor.
Of course, although the human's behavior was quite unsuitable, Alex's own was less than ideal. Alex let go of Crispen's hand. Now that he thought of it, why had he done that? What could be accomplished by tightly squeezing someone's hand? That was far more childish than declaring one's self to be of wisecracks and stupidity. While Crispen spoke impulsively, Alex failed to even recognize his own uncontrolled behavior. Crinkled noses, impolite handshakes, glares? Get yourself together. You are starting to slump now. Do you have no control? Apparently not.
When Alex looked back to Lilah, his harsh expression melted. Part of it was a growing awareness of his impolite behavior, yes, but much of it was simply Lilah. He did not want her to see him like that. Like a child. She did not need to see him in such an uncontrolled state, not when she herself was so undone. Her breath reeked of alcohol, but there were other aspects (bitter almond, sweet flowers) that enticed Alex. And still, Lilah was smiling. Thank goodness. She had not noticed Alex's poor composure. Or perhaps she did not care. Alcohol did that, right? It made you stop caring? That sounds wonderful.
"Thank you," Alex smiled politely after Lilah insisted that she did not want to get rid of him. That was reassuring, although Alex did not really understand why not. He could certainly think of a few reasons, but it was best not to mention those. For one, that would be another reason to get rid of him. It would also be supremely awkward.
Either that or Lilah was an excellent liar. Alex had never been a good liar or a good lie detector. That required an ability to read people, yet another thing Alex lacked. Thank goodness you never went into politics back home. You would never survive.
Alex blinked rapidly, focusing back on Lilah. She was expressing worry. Worry about Alex. The vampire tried not to react, but he could not stop confusion from washing across his face. His eyes widened, his jaw slackened a bit. Alex did not open his mouth like some buffoonish werewolf would, but his expression was still undeniably... soft. Such an expression was so confusing. Lilah had to be lying, didn't she? Alex had proven himself unuseful. He could not control his face or navigate among his own species, much less parties such as this. Sure, he cared for her, but that was yet another weakness. If someone cared so easily, they could not be trusted. Caring lead to impulsivity and stupidity. Caring was... human.
So the vampire repeated himself: "Thank you." A perhaps overly curt response, yes, but at least it implied that he was in control again. "Thank you for your concern, I truly appreciate it. I am glad we found each other and happy that you are well."
Alex took a quick glance towards the human. With the one hand still left on Lilah's shoulder, he pulled her a bit closer towards him. That shows weakness, Alex. It shows that you care about her. She can use her, he can use her against you. You are far too obvious for your own good. You are pliable. Alex raised his chin. He had to prove otherwise.
The vampire looked the human up and down. Crispen was half-mage, half-fae, yes? Well, at least Alex had the sense not to reveal something so easily. So foolishly. Sure, Crispen certainly smelled like it, but it was never a wise idea to confirm something to a complete stranger. On the other hand, Crispen also mentioned the prophecy. How wonderful. Lilah had let it slip and now Crispen knew. He was so willing to reveal his above-average hearing (ha, silly human) and knowledge. Gloating.
Or perhaps not? Alex kept his chin high, but his mind was racing. Everyone here spoke so openly, so impulsively, it was hard to parse what they were actually saying. Which comments mattered? Which did not? Alex pursed his lips, frustrated. He was so lost in his paranoia, he could not actually analyze what was right in front of him.
Not only that, but he could not even follow the proper rules of etiquette. "Pardon me, Vladimiri," Alex's smile did not reach his eyes. He used the server's last name as a form of respect, but purposefully avoided any formal titles. "I was worried for the wellbeing of my friend. I appreciate your, ehm, honesty. It is truly unique."
He smiled again, all teeth. Alex had not wished to be too open with his distaste for the human, but perhaps it had leaked out a bit. Alex closed his mouth and faced Lilah again. "Would it be alright if I asked how you are again? You seem... pardon me. I admittedly know little about drinking, but you seem, ehm, unsteady. Pardon my frankness, but I wish to make sure you are... alright."
Well, that was wonderful. Just blurt out how bad she looks. That is polite.

Starchaser That sucks on so many levels. I'm sorry that it ruined your birthday for you or that you even had to go through something like. I don't know the full story, but you deserve better! Apparently the average person gets their heartbroken (romantically mostly) twice in their lifetime. I've yet to go through one myself so I'm not looking forward to it if it does come my way.
I think I'm leaning towards one as well. Now that I think about it, we could totally throw two into the mix when everyone does eventually find out that their love ones are dead. The potential for a full blown fight over it really excite me too so I think we should do it. Besides, if we planned for the attack to happen after they left then it would make sense for our protags not to know.
Yes, being Hades to Rafe's Zeus perfectly explains what I was trying to convey. XD I really like the idea that Arfen lost his right to the mortal realm because he fought and lost. I think it could also be interesting if other shifters had the two flipped flopped. Arfen was the hero in the story and still continues to woe other shifters to his form of the afterlife, whereas Rafe is seen as the cruel one for turning his back on those that don't bear his form. Dang. I like that. Rafe offers the "good" afterlife to his blood sworn, but is seen as unjust for not offering it to anyone else. So, to right his wrong, Arfen takes in all the others, but still does his job in punishing the truly evil.
Indeed. And every last meme shared is perfect. XD I love them.)
Redis O'Bri “The earth has music for those who listen.” - Shakespeare ♜ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ♜
As the tears welled and threatened to pour down his face, Redis tilted his head lightly and said with a slight sniffle, "It's ok... We're all stressed." And the alcohol wasn't helping on his end. Even though it was barely enough to make his head feel fuzzy, it was still enough to amplify the emotions that were present. His father had also told him that the drink had the opposite affect that many desired especially for shifters. Their Belua made it difficult to feel anything when drinking, but it could be done if one drank enough. He had seen Clari do it so many times and yet, he rarely touched the stuff.
It will not soothe away your hurts and anxieties, Redis. Learn how to confront those things head on; don't use it as a crutch. You're stronger than that.
Now, as he stood next to Zane and his mood was only worsening with every drink, he realized that his father had been right all along. No amount of drink would erase the pain in his heart or stop Clarisse or Zane from leaving. So when Zane took another drink off the tray, Redis placed his empty one without replacing it. He rubbed at the tears in his eyes.
He blamed the wine for the salt now running down his cheeks.
"It could be your reality if you wanted, but like I said, I think I understand why it's only a nice thought." Now that the tears were rolling he was having a hard time stopping them. Every time he wiped them away, more replaced them. Cheeks tinted pink, he tilted his head away to keep Zane from watching. "Rafe, I'm sorry. I don't - I don't know what's wrong with me today. I know you have to lea - to leave and I don't want you to - you know, feel guilty for staying. I guess I just - gah, I don't know!"
He pushed the hair away from his face and took a deep breath. Rafe's third eye, Redis, you're twenty-one. You shouldn't be crying in the middle of a party. Pull yourself together.
The male steeled himself with another breath before saying, "I'm sorry, Zane. I think I'm just upset about Clarisse leaving me. Well not me, exactly, but... no, me. I'm so mad at her for leaving like this, but I'm mad at myself because I know my anger isn't justified. And even though I barely know you, it's still another loss, you know? I never had a lot of friends growing up and Clari was one of the only people that didn't treat me like a nuisance. Being the second youngest of six brothers didn't help with being overlooked and I was always the punching bag..." He balled his fists.
"I'm not only loosing a friend, but a confidant and som... someone I love." Redis closed his eyes slowly. "And I guess... I guess I had this hope that us outcasts could stick together. I'm not trying to bait you into staying because you need to go. The whole situation just sucks Arfen's arse."
He didn't know how else to justify the surge of emotion because he barely understood it himself. Eyes fully open now, Redis sheepishly looked over at Zane and then away, mortified that he had just cried and spilled his guts out to the male.
I'm never drinking again.
The thought was so pungent that he tried to pivot away from the conversation quickly, jumping in with Zane's assessment of mythology, "Ah, yeah! I always fancied the all-shifters version of the tale myself though my mother said that it was nothing short of blasphemy. Still, Arfen never seemed as stagnant like Rafe. He always adapted while Rafe remained the stubborn one... Maybe that's where we get our stubbornness from..." His cheeks were fully red now, voice small and uncomfortable. "Um... your mother seemed like a wise female."

[[ ok i'll do lu later because i am lazy and she isn't interacting w anyone rn so it's not hella urgent or anything. but for the record, lu is in the back making tea right now
Starchaser & Amber : The Alex post is done! Not really good, my apologies, but I just gave up. Also I'm weirdly happy none of us have much drinking experience, it really lessens the pressure on writing drunk Alex realistically 😅
Starchaser : honestly i've never been on tiktok, all of my tiktok knowledge is also from instagram 😂 also your memes are truly beautiful and I had to explain why I started laughing in the middle of a zoom call
Alex and Lilah are just... oh I love their friendship. They have a long way to go, but man am I looking forward to it. They better die holding hands with friendship bracelets that they made for each other.
That study sounds really interesting! Studies like that are always so interesting to me, really. Honestly I can go down a linguistics study rabbit hole really quickly, although I really can't understand them really well
Amber : Aww, thank you! I'm really looking forward to writing his development I have so many plans for it, honestly
And yeah, the contrast between Alex and Crispen is really interesting. Alex is so focused on being closed off and Crispen is so open. Honestly I kinda wish I could be a bit more like Crispen, he's just so honest. ]]
