[[ I feel so bad for asking this but would you be alright with summarizing what Lilah and Crispen up to? I keep rereading the posts but for some reason it all goes in one ear and out the other (or in one eye and out the other?). So sorry to ask you to do this. I'll post a response tomorrow, probably in the morning, but I'd like to sketch up a basic idea tonight. ]]

{ mossecho Sure! I'm sorry in advance that this will be kinda long too.
So, Lilah went over to Alex when she got to the party and was asking him if he was enjoying it or whatever. Crispen is a half-mage/half-fae whose friends with a void elemental named Lysandra. They're both thieves of sorts that like to rob rich people, hence why they're at the party. Crispen is part of the staff, so he goes up to Lilah and Alex trying to give them champagne, but really is trying to steal Lilah's necklace because he can tell she's Rich. He tries to cast a freezing spell on her, but she realizes what he's doing and teleports them to the backyard kinda on accident. She briefly confronts him about it, but they're interrupted when Gabriel (Lilah's older half-brother) notices and basically tells Crispen off. Then he starts asking Lilah if she's been having any dreams about the prophecy or whatever, but she's vague at best cause she doesn't want to deal with her family.
Crispen secretly listens in and catches some of the convo, before running off to tell his friend, Lys. She decides they can stay for a while and tells Cris to finish serving his drinks so the other staff don't get mad. He does, but runs into Lilah who is looking for Alex again. They get to talking and end up enjoying each other's company, bonding over being hybrids and talking about magic and the like. Lilah starts drinking because she's Sad and ends up revealing a lot of her family background to him. Cris decides they should try to find Lys and and Alex because Lilah's drunk and that's about it. Really they've just been talking a lot in a corner. }

[[ Oh my goodness Starchaser , that was so helpful! Thank you so so so much! <3
I'll try to have my response up early tomorrow (well, now today, but whatever). I'll write something for Lu too, just to get her back in action, although it will probably just be her wandering around or something. We'll see. ]]

( Starchaser Gonna make it possible to make the scene where Wendell took a snack important.) Wendell Benjamin WhiteWendell didn't quite believe Gabriel, but he left it alone. It was entirely possible, just difficult. Plus, Gabriel does have to deal with the fact that he's not one of the chosen. "I'm sorry for you. Must be hard not being in the role you were expected to fill.", he said softly, before continuing. "Well, look at it this way. You don't have to go on a dangerous, stressful, time-sensitive mission that I'm pretty sure ends with death, even if we succeed, not having to deal with the more frustrating of the bunch." With those last couple words, he indicated Clarisse.
"Her name is Clarisse.", he said, voice full of scorn, still annoyed at her. "Don't call her Clari. She doesn't let anybody call her that." He grinned at his little insult, even if it was saying something false. "Now, enjoy the party, like you told me to do! You're not dragging around a dead weight, as well as a book, with a heavenly, though she's not a problem, her name's Avani, by the way, trying to find the other prophecy members. But first, can you describe this 'Lilah'? Then, go ahead and drink, meet new people, eat..."
"Oh! And, to keep you updated..." He realized he had no phone, so he asked Avani, "Hey! Avani, do you have a phone? I think we should add Gabriel to our contacts list, to keep him updated!" He didn't want to leave Gabriel completely out of the picture.

( Brokenstar Oh no, the chaos of making the thing where Wendell took a snack important. Hijinks will ensure. Anyway, I love the idea of Avani being best friends with everyone as there are some rivalries of sorts. Wendell vs Clarisse. Caspian vs Everyone but Avani. Starchaser No worries, I was honestly just waiting for whoever else to reply after Shadow so no one got too far ahead. And don't worry about inconsistency. It's fun seeing what you come up with for Gabriel.)
Avani Roshan "Someome has to care. Too few people care these days."- Lift The Chosen Angel
As Wendell and Clarisse began to head off in search of Gabriel the mage, Avani went to look for Rollan. She didn't like the idea of leaving her post without him knowing anything. He seemed to be under enough stress already. The man, thankfully, wasn't diffcult to find. The angel spotted him frantically rushing around the room, going from entertainer to entertainer. He even checked on a few of the serves and guests during his rounds. While he said he was in charge of the performers, it seemed that qasn't where his duties ended. As the heavenly approched, people moved out of the way for her. Again, they seemed wary. How odd. As Rollan finished speaking with one of the guest, Avani offered a smile and wave l. Catching his attention, the skeletal-looking man returned the smile. After a minute, he dismissed himself from the guests and joined her.
"Is everything alright, Miss Roshan?"
"Everyzing's find, Rollan. I vas just vondering if I could take my dinner break now."
"Already?" The man paused and checked his pocket watch. He blinked in surprise then nodded. "It has been longer than I assumed. Very well, thank you for telling me. Be back in thirty minutes, alright?"
"Yes sir. Zank you, sir," the woman replied, merrily.
"Of course," he called as his attention shifted elsewhere. Now with that over with, it was time to head back to the others. As she weaved through the crowd again, the woman kept an eye out for anyone she may recognize. Three of the chosen, including her, were at the party. It wasn't a stretch to assume the others wouldn't be there. Would be that lucky? According to Wendell, it was entierly possible they would. If Gabriel knew who the mage chosen was, then maybe finding the elemental and last one would prove to be as simple.
It didn't take long to reach the backyard. People were careful to let her though, which was very nice. She expected most wouldn't care who they ran into, but that seemed to be a myth. Unlike inside where an excited energy filled the room, the garden was more subdued and quiet. People had probably gone out there to relax and get away from all the bustle, which would be understandable. Not everyone could keep up with that sort of mood all the time. Clarisse and Wendell were already talking with a man she could only assume was Gabriel. The infernal shared a few hushed words with the man as the angel approched with a friendly smile. Wendell quickly introduced Clarisse, who the angel gkanced at as he spoke. Before she could greet Gabriel herself, Wendell introduced her. Avani beamed and gave a small wave in greeting.
"Lilah? Is that out mage?!" The asked with excitment a moment later. Before anyone had a chance to answer, the infernal was asking if the angel had a phone. Avani frowned, her wings dropping slightly at the thought of not being able to help him.
"I'm sorry, Vendell. Angels don't really have communication devices like phones. Or at least I don't." She paused and pulled a out a lightning piece. It was about the size of a child's palm and still had most of its power. Glancing down at the mage, she offered the tranche to him. "Maybe you could do somezing with zis to keep up contact? You know how to use it, right? I can help you in case you don't," she added. Avani wanted to make sure everything could go well between Gabriel and her new friends.

Starchaser Amber Brokenstar This one goes out to Star cause it's BIRTHDAY TIME
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
The Chosen Werewolf ✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
She supposed that it was her upbringing that made her supremely wary of the situation. Stuck in a new place, confronted by new people, and being left to fend for herself by her new pack mate, Clarisse was less than pleased with the overall situation. Black heels clacked against the marble flooring as she begrudgingly followed Wendell to the others. In the back of her head, she was excited as Arfen on Wallowing Day to meet the new people, but if they were anything like the odd Infernal, then running away with Zane was a viable option.
Clari kept one eye on the Infernal and one on the Angel that had begun to trail to her side. She was more reserved than usual as if she was upset about having to abandon the post that had served only as an excuse to get her into the party. The tiny tilt of her eyebrows and the slight drop of her wings spoke volumes; Clarisse wandered if she was the only one that noticed that her mood had shifted.
To be fair, all of their moods had drastically changed when Wendell entered the picture. Honestly, he didn't have to come in targeting everyone like that. Clarisse had come for a good time, not to be attacked.
Well and that to stop the destruction of the world, but that wasn't important.
As they walked up to the new person, Clari took a deep breath to analyze his scent. He didn't smell overwhelming smoky as Azar or Wendell and he lacked the clipped scent of air and clouds like Avani... and none of the freshness of the forest lingered on his clothes. Her curious nature got the better of her and she crept closer still with a faint smile. The faint aroma of book covers... oh and sandalwood. Odd.
It told her nothing about his background though if she had to guess, she would say he was a mage due to the lack of defining characteristics. She had no idea what Elemental's smelled of though she supposed that the faint buzz of electricity and perfume of dew drops would be a good guess for some. She had certainly passed by a few on her way over to this male - no, man - but without a frame of reference, it was impossible to classify what she had noted.
Briefly, she wandered if the man could tell that she was scenting him like predator on prey, but Clari hardly cared. Wendell had called him Gabriel and the name was unfamiliar to her along with his face. She supposed he was handsome though in a way that shifter's seldom were. His face spoke of a an easy life (or at least easy when compared to the harshness of shifter life) and he carried himself in a manner that communicated he belonged here.
The scorn in Wendell's voice only made Clarisse grin wickedly, her twin scars on her upper lip pulling taunt. She stepped around the smaller male and summoned every last inch of confidence as she held out her hand for Gabriel to shake. If they were going to be working together, she might as well get used to it.
"Oh my, I'm afraid Wendell's mistaken. I told him not to call me Clari because he has a stick the size of Arfen's horn up his arse." She said it sweetly, matter of fact like. "But that's not your fault. And it really doesn't matter anyways. In regards to the others, no we haven't seen them..."
It was in that moment that she realized that she was talking to a non-prophecy about the prophecy and she snapped her jaw shut immediately. She took a small step away and looked over to Avani for reassurance. The ray of sunshine that had to be protected was being grilled by the half-wraith, half-fae for not having a phone. Seeing no one else around and not wanting to engage with Wendell for fear of lashing out against him again, she turned back to the man.
Clarisse's eyebrows drew in as she scrutinized Gabriel, "Apologies if this is blunt, but how do you fit into this? How do you know about us and why do you care?"
Oh how, she wanted a drink right now. A drink with Zane sounds so much better than grilling anyone and everyone. Maybe we should just run off instead of dealing with this....

{ Sorry guys, I'll get replies up soon, I'm just so lazy. I've honestly got more work to do but I so don't want to cause it's my bday, ugh.
@shootforthestars I don't know why, other than I'm so used to us having full conversations before our rp posts, but you tagging nobody and just going straight to your reply is so weirdly ominous.
Also, "Clarisse had come for a good time, not to be attacked." You're not slick, I can smell a meme reference from anywhere. }

BRO, IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY?! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUDE! THIS IS YOUR BIRTHDAY SONG, IT ISN'T VERY LONG, HEY!!!!!! If I could give virtual presents I totally would! Happy day of your birth! Hope it's been a good one! Yeah, I just didn't this time for some reason. XD I guess I didn't have much to say because I wasn't really sure who the reply was aimed for???? I guess??? Clari's just kind of floating, but I edited so it's not too ominous. You're just too good Star. I can't get anything past that nose of yours. Lowkey, though, I appreciate the acknowledgment. T-T

{ @shootforthestars Unfortunately, yeah. I'm not much into them myself, but I already know I'm going to be forced to do things. Thanks though, haha. No virtual presents required, as I've said before, this rp is the main enjoyment in my life right now so that's good enough for me.
Good thing to, it gives off the same vibes as people ending their texts with periods.
No problem, I'll be here all night. Probably, since I don't have a life outside of these forums. }

Starchaser I can understand that. Some people don't like the attention. That's one of my roommates. She doesn't hate her birthday, she just hates the idea of being celebrated all day. She's pretty humble. XD Oh dang. All my texts are probably punctuated. XD I didn't think that gave people weird vibes.)

{ @shootforthestars I'm not much of a party person in general, and I also hate attention, so given that birthdays tend to combine the two they're just not my favorite thing. I do like to take the occasion as an excuse to be lazy though.
I don't mind punctuation in them, especially for the longer ones, as long as the last sentence doesn't end with a period. I used to do it myself, but idk, it feels weird now. I personally write mine like a normal paper or whatever, just not that last sentence. It can end with a question mark or exclamation point, but never a period. }

Starchaser Ah I see! That makes sense. Being lazy is always nice! Birthdays are good for that. XD Huh, I’ve never heard that before. I know some people have a thing with punctuation at all in text cause it makes it too formal, but the no period at the end is interesting. Does it make it seem too final for you?? XD )

{ @shootforthestars Too bad I have to work though. My fault for putting it off so long, but ugh if I don't wanna do anything.
I have no idea, because it never used to bother me until I learned it bothered other people, then I started getting uncomfortable with it. I guess it somehow seems passive-aggressive from what I understand, but I truly don't know. }

[[ oof so I managed to delete my first draft so... this is late...
Also, Brokenstar , happy to see you joined! I look forward to RPing with you! Always love a new person (: ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez is not drunk... yet
So it happened again. Alex thought he knew his environment and the universe laughed at him. He most certainly did not.
Suddenly Lilah was there and then she was... not. The one human (no, person, the one person) he could trust and she was gone in a moment. Alex had seen the server, yes, but he had not paid attention. Idiot! Now Lilah was gone. Alex looked all around inside, but he could not spot her. She could be anywhere, quite frankly. He could still smell the magic she left behind, but honestly there were so many intermingling smells in the space that Alex could not track her.
And so the vampire tried to blend in. Mingle in conversations, float between groups. Smile, nod. Back straight, chin up, eyes attentive. Be proper.
As if everyone there was proper. Alex shuddered at the basic etiquette atrocities he witnessed. There were plenty of forgivable offenses, like pinching a wine glass's stem instead of using the thumb and forefinger, yes, but those were hardly noteworthy. Alex instead focused on the bigger issues. He could easily ignore fingerprints on wine glasses when watching someone was chugging a massively expensive bottle of wine (and then bragging about how it was worth ten times the weekly wage of an average worker). Alex left that conversation shortly after. Still, no matter where he floated about, he could not get the pungent red out of his nose.
Alex fled for the gardens. He had managed his way through a bit of polite small talk without committing too many faux pas. Alex did not stare too much, although there was so much to see. Barely any of the men wore high heels, for one. That was strange. Do they not want to look taller? Alex was tall enough, yes, but he still had a short heel. It was not as thin as many he was seeing, no, but it was reasonable.
Besides that there was the casual nature of everyone's speech. No one used many formalities at all. Sure, there was "sir" and "madame" and the like, but no proper forms of address or conjugation. You should know that, you idiot. Lilah did not use them. She is from this city, yes? At the very least she had spent a lot of time here. Use your brain. Alex shook his head, trying not to focus on that. Still, he tugged at his cuff.
Alex entered the gardens. Immediately he smelled recently-bloomed roses and freshly-cut grass. The vampire inhaled, happy. The stenches of wine and whiskey were not completely gone (plenty of the guests outside were also drinking), but at least there were living plants. There were many flowers inside, but Alex could already smell their death.
The vampire ducked away from the sharp natural light, instead residing to ducking behind a large shrub. Like a coward. Alex tightened his jaw, almost wishing for that wine bottle. He had never gotten drunk before but that was supposed to relax you, right? Maybe he should try it some day. Drinking alcohol was a particularly human thing, yes, but... no. He should not indulge in such frivolous things. Not right now. He really should focus on—
Oh. There she was. Alex inhaled, tasting recognizable magic. Finally. He strolled over, hands free but jaw still stubbornly tight. Alex's eyes scanned the frustratingly large crowd, searching for the one face he knew.
And there she was, back inside. Along with the server and the smell of champagne. How you did not notice her earlier, I do not know, Alex's brain commented. Alex cut through the crowd to get to the pair, eyes focused on Lilah. He considered shouting her name, but no. He could not do that. It would call too much attention to himself. Alex could feel it already, all those angry looks. One did not shout at these affairs. One did not call attention to themselves, especially not when they bullied a guard into letting them in. Especially not when they had absolutely no place there.
Alex only let him speak when he was two paces away. "Ehm, pardon me," he forced out. "Your Excellency?" Alex was a bit proud of that small reference to their first meeting. Perhaps it was an indication of their rapport? Or Lilah would see it as too formal. Not formal enough? Alex tugged at his cuff again. He had not analyzed this situation enough. He could not downplay her status here, but it was also disgraceful if he overstated it, thereby understating that of everyone else. Pay attention, you fool.
"Pardon me," Alex nodded toward the server. He used a form of address for those a level below him but... that too was a mistake, no? While it was respectful to the server, it implied that Alex was not of a high enough class to be there.
Damn it all. Alex tried to soldier on and somehow make up for his frustrating blunders. He rest a hand over his chest. "Ehm... pardon, I appear to be interrupting. If I may, Your Excellency"— why was he still using that term —"I offer up my sincere apologies, I missed you earlier. May I ask how you are doing?"
Well, that was fantastic. She was clearly not well (and smelled much more of champagne than magic now). Furthermore, Alex had just pointed out that obvious fact with his question with an obvious answer. The embarrassment!
[[ Starchaser & Amber : If I remember correctly Lilah teleported outside? I am not sure if she and Crispen are still there but I assumed so. If not I can change this post, just let me know (: ]]

{ Amber That's fine, it balances out because Lilah was nothing but chatty last time.
Glad to be of service.
*If I add/elaborate on it, lol. I mean, I definitely will eventually, but I have a bad track record of doing things when I'm supposed to. Anyways, did a little magic and history worldbuilding here, mostly cause I wasn't sure how else to transition.
Lilah's family mark is just a spiral because I'm not creative, her prophecy mark is the little moving stars, but they usually cluster around the same place anyways, especially when she does magic. So it looks a bit like a little galaxy.
Also, sorry if I didn't cover everything in their conversation, I didn't want it to be too long not including Alex.
mossecho I think they're actually inside now, but honestly it's whatever.
This is very bad because I'm super tired. I should have just done it in the morning, but I was using it to put off real life responsibilities, and I already decided I was going to pull an all-nighter. I have made a grave mistake. }

( Starchaser That's fair. Pft like at the ending. And Cris is just standing there confused because one moment she wants nothing to do with him, and the next she's positively talking about him to Alex. Or at least not being annoyed about him. That was some fun bits of worldbuilding to read. I also really like the ideas that it opens up to. Like other chosen in the past failed because they saved the world from other things. Wouldn't apply to everyone, of course, but it could apply to some. Ah thanks, I'll go ahead and add that, then. Which also reminds me that I never officially wrote down what Avani's mark was. I'll probably add that somewhere. Maybe in a future post or to her appearence or something. No worries, I might've skipped over some stuff too. Besides, it'll be interesting to see how things change with Alex around, especially because Crispen overheard something about the prophecy and told Lysandra. Also the reply was great. I like the bits of worldbuilding, as I mentioned earlier, and I'm interested to see where we go from here. With that said, I think I got a little repetitive with my own reply, so I might edit it a little. Also, happy belated birthday. My mom's birthday was yesterday, so I was distracted with making making cake and such, so sorry for missing out on that.mossecho Oops, thought you were also waiting on me. Well, at least my thing's done now. Sorry about that. Also I do feel better. Got work off today because we'd only be open for a few hours, so that helped much. Also, also they are indeed back inside after meeting Gabriel.)
Crispen Valdmiri "Treat everyday with a smile so it doesn't know what you're planning on doing to it." - Wayne The Mischevious Grifter
"Yup. No necromancy for me. Don't like getting my clothes messy and dealing with the affairs of the dead sound quite unappealing. Anyway, I'll take your word on the whole blood thing," he mused back with a smile. The pair shifted through a few topics, Crispen finding hinself enjoying Lilah's company more as the night went on. Eventually, he got her talking about how she snuck in, which turned the conversarion to teleportarion. It really was useful, why hadn't he botheted to learn any before? Probably because magic was kind of boring and he wasn't really good at it. Note to self, learn some darned teleportation spells. They sound like they would really come in handy. There was a chance he wouldn't remember the mental note- especially because there was a lot he would want to remember tonight -but he would try.
"Nonsense. I think you're selling yourself short again, Lilah. The sigil thing was an excellent suggestion, which tells me you're fairly knowledgeable about magic. And there was also the blood connection with necromancy, which most people probably don't know about. That's all just accounting for the things I know about you now. There's still more to find out, no?" He pointed out with a grin. The woman giggled before wondering why she was so open around him. Then it hit her. Unfortunately. Crispen's good mood began to dissipate some as she spoke on about the Fae's natural ability to sooth people. Unlike most, it was unintentional on his part. Of all the things he could've inheritated from his father, why did it have to be that? The disguised server forced himself not to dwell on it. No need to spoil a good conversation or night. Fortunately, that part of the conversation didn't last long. Crispen returned to his jovial mood. "Exactly!! What's the point of anything if you didn't go through some type of trouble to nab it?" The mage understood his point well, which made his smile widen.
The conversation took another negative turn as they talked about blood purity. What a stupid concept. A hurtful concept. His eyes darkened as she spoke. "It's especially foolish, because why is it up to us- I guess moreso you when it comes to your family -to carry on a legacy? Seems pointless to me. Only you can leave your own legacy, it's not the job of others to do it for you," he grumbled. Crispen paused as Lilah launched into ramblings about her family. He remained silent, letting her say everything that was on her mind. Once she finished, she actually seemed happier, even relieved. She smiled back at him. It was good to see.
Another blush accompanied his comment. She giggled and looked away briefly, though her attention was drawn back to him as he mentioned her family again. A bad move on his part. She moved her hand away, drawing it towards her to look it over again. "If only it were that easy," she mused. Crispen frowned as she explained why things were going to be more diffcult. Considering she was a Lancaster, he probably shouldn't have been surprised. They were quite an important family among the Mages. He nodded aling as she spoke, only to freeze briefly as she mentioned a dead ancestor. Crispen stared at her for a moment and blinked. Did he hear that right? Appearently, he did as Lilah narrowed her eyes elsewhere and grumbled at someone named Luna. She was really drunk, right? Or maybe just a little crazy? Though, there was a mention of a prophecy earlier... That Gabriel fellow seemed mighty serious about it and she denied having any involvement. Could it really be real..? The half-fae glanced at the woman again. What was he getting himself into?
Lilah liking the idea of joining him and Lys pulled him from his thoughts. Crispen smiled at her again, just as he had been throughout their conversation. The woman continued to smile as she mused about the kinds of things they would get up to. The man laughed. "Yup, no one would be safe from us as we travel around, stealing their food, their riches, and their hearts. You know, 'cause we would just be so gosh darn charming. Anyway, I like the way you think. You have some lofty ideas for sure, Lilah. Especially considering you've only been ag this for...what, a few days? Maybe a week? Quite impressive."
The man laughed and smiled, Lilah returned with a grin and a giggle. The mood was light and friendly, until it wasn't. Crispen watched as a change seem to come over her, like she was remembering something. She took a half step back, but was quiet. The half-mage titled his head slightly, wondering what changed. "Alexander Rojas Lopez," she breathed.
"What?"
"Of the Antier Coven. In the Sinresol River by the Der'mar Valley," the mage continued. She remembered her friend's name, that was good! Crispen smiled encouragingly. They could find him, so she wouldn't have to be alone anymore. Well she wasn't alone, she had him and that ancestor of her hanging around, but she could be back with someone she knew better. And who wouldn't berate her or yell at him. He opened his mouth to suggest they start looking for Alex, but immediately closed it as Lilah stepped back further. She shot down his suggestion, now seeming quite distressed and claimed she didn't need his help. That she could find her friend on her own. Crispen stood for a moment, shoukders slumped at the woman's words and ears sinking slightly. He reached out a hand to out on her shoulder in comfort, but hesitated. That would probably make the situation worse. Instead, he met her eyes and finally found his voice.
"No, wait! I'm not trying to get rid of ya, Lilah, honest! You just sound like you have something real important to deal with, and I cam guess what. However, you're hesitant to tell me and I was only trying to help." Before she could answer him, her attention was drawn to the side. Crispen followed her gaze and noticed a vampiric-looking man watching them. Ah, so that was Alex. Lilah's face lit up as she rushed over and wrapped him into a hug. She apologized to the man, words becoming slightly more slurred than before. Crispen drew in a deep breath. She was an emotional drunk 'sall. He really shouldn't take her words to heart. But, well, they did sting.
Crispen cautiously approched the pair. He remained a few steps away, silent. Usually he would be all for flirting with a new person- in this case Alex -but he wasn't in the mood to even try. Instead he flashed a smile at the man and quietly hung around.

[[ Starchaser : Hope you're not too tired! Allnighters always get me. Honestly once I reach 10:00 am on day two, I am no longer a functional human
also idk why but seeing Lilah say Alex's whole name and id and birthplace just made me so happy for some reason? like these two are truly becoming friends now! not that either one of them really knows it yet, but they totally are
Amber : Your comment about needing to write down Avani's remark reminds me that I need to go back and rewrite Alex's description xD he's physically still the same, but I think that version of his personality is very different from how I'm writing him now. Also I need to clarify some stuff, but... also I'm lazy so it will take a long time for that to happen
No problem about posting it later than you thought! It's not like I don't procrastinate on my posts.
Happy to hear you're feeling better! A short work day is always nice
@ both of you: The post is now fixed, Alex headed back inside (:
also i really should know this but where is the original code formatting for the posts?
and for future reference i've never gotten drunk before so alex's drunkenness probably won't be super accurate but i'll do my best ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez
When Lilah repeated his introduction, Alex unsuccessfully fought back a smile. It was impolite to eavesdrop on conversations, ergo his unwillingness to clearly react to her statement. Sure, the prepositions were a bit mixed up, but that was not the point. It was ... sweet, in a way. It made Alex feel like she had actually listened, actually paid attention to him. Doesn't that make you sound pathetic?, his brain supplied. Perhaps. Probably. Yet still, Alex brightened. Lilah dismissed about her background's relevance, so Alex appreciated her recollection of his own even more.
He really did not mind when she hugged him. Or fell into him, more accurately. Alex wound his arms underneath hers, pulling her up and against him. Alex felt his nose crinkle at the champagne stench. Still, he found himself smiling. Her expression was warm, just like the taste champagne on her breath. It was acidulous yet almond-like, a combination that confused Alex. Champagne certainly smelled less horrid than the party's other drinks, but he could still not understand its appeal.
As Lilah spoke, Alex tried to pull away from her. She was still unbalanced, but it was not acceptable to be slumped against someone at such affairs (or be slumped against by someone). Alex unhooked himself and added an arm's length distance between the two. He kept his hands on her shoulders, but still that felt... wrong. You are too close, too casual. Stop it, you will make a scene. Alex dropped a hand back to his side.
He smiled at the server, although that was purely polite. Alex hated the fact someone was here to witness this. Lilah's state was unbecoming and indecent (as if half the party was not acting like this, but they were not the best example for proper behavior). Alex's own actions were even more unflattering. He lost a friend and now she is drunk. What sort of a person does that make him?
Of course, that smile soured when Lilah mentioned his theft. "It's okay 'cause he apologized..." Alex's face hardened. He narrowed his eyes slightly, although they were still hidden behind his glasses. His eyebrows scrunched in the middle, making his reaction clearer. Struggling to regain control over his frustratingly visible reaction to the human's misbehavior (Is that why he is a server, to rob the guests? Is he a server at all?), Alex turned his head back to Lilah.
He smiled again, unconvincingly. Straightened his spine again, unscrunched his eyebrows, set his shoulders back. "I-it is alright, I understand," his voice shook. "I am glad you are, ehm... well."
Oh, perfect word choice. Just perfect. "Again, my sincere apologies. I should have been more, ehm, responsible. My negligence is to blame for our separation, I should have found you sooner," Alex rubbed her shoulder. Wait, no, stop that. He sounds like he believes she cannot take care of herself. She certainly can, just not like this, but... damn it. "Ehm, my apologies again. I am happy you were able to take care of yourself."
His voice rose at the sentence's end, making it sound more like a question than a statement. Alex had really messed up again, hadn't he?
Definitely. Alex stared behind Lilah at the human. What was his name? Crispen, that is what Lilah had said. He smelled like magic, albeit less so than Lilah. A mage, perhaps? Alex's expression hardened again, but it fell when he looked back at Lilah. Her smile was faltering, although Alex could not realize if it was because of his response or his expression or his posture or... him? Lilah asked him how he was doing, but Alex was busy reevaluating everything he had done. Correct your posture again, distribute weight evenly across both feet, chin up but not too high, expression warm but not too casual. Get it together.
"Yes, yes, of course," he rushed to respond. "There is no need to worry about me. I am just fine, thank you."
Alex glared at the human behind Lilah. He extended a hand, now that it was safe to do so. Now that Lilah introduced them (rather, implied it by mentioning his name), Alex could safely acknowledge the server in more ways than just over-the-shoulder stares. He kept his hand outstretched, waiting for the human to take it.
"Alexander Rojas Lopez of the Antier Coven. By the Sinresol River in the Derramar Valley," he repeated with a near monotone voice. Alex knew that Lilah had already said that, but it was still rude for him to have eavesdropped. He could not reveal such a blatant violation of politeness. "And you would be?"
Alex wanted a full name, a place of origin, species. He wanted to know this human's capacities, how much of a threat he posed. He wanted to know who this human was, the thief.
[[ oh dear that was horrible... x-x oh well. time to finally get around to writing lu
also alex will become comfortable with hugs, just not rn. he'll get there (: ]]

Little disappointed in this one because I feel like my previous draft was better, but whatever. Tried to put something in for everyone, but let me know if I need to edit in case I forgot something. }

{ @shootforthestars I have to agree with you there. They're just *chef's kiss* Sorry this is somewhat short, btw.
Also, yeah, bring on Redis! Love that boy. I was going to suggest it myself anyways. It's going to be interesting to see how everyone feels about "dirty rogue with questionable motives" (which is honestly my favorite Irene quote ever, I'm going to put it on one of those "Hello, my name is..." stickers) after I let him almost die saving someone. I mean, I'm sure they wont immediately change their minds, but it will be interesting to see what effect his choice has. Who do we want it to be, btw? I'm all for any of the "mains" he interacts with, be it Clari, Redis, or one of the Alphas.
Also, since you've mentioned "Rafe's third eye" quite a bit and I made up some legend about him putting his eye in the sky to watch over the werewolves, I hope you don't mind that I made the moon be his third eye in lore. I just thought it might be kinda neat and give them some reason to have the full moon be such a big deal. Maybe the moon cycles would be something like Rafe having to rest or blink or something, so being under his eye (in particular doing the full moon) strengthens their connections and makes Belua stronger because he can see them? I'm not explaining this very well, I just like mythology in worldbuilding. }

Starchaser I’m so glad that you like my timid, baby Redis! This reply was actually super fun for me to write because I got to explore the interesting world of Redis’s mind for a while. He’s so different from what I usually write and I like putting myself into the shoes of a hopelessly in love teenager - young adult. It makes for interesting writing sessions because he’s shyer and quieter than most of my characters. He’s in his head a lot more too which is fun! Yeah, I also had fun low key insulting Zane through Irene’s protective lens. XD She just really, really can’t help but be suspicious of him even though Zane hasn’t really given her any reason to which spawned that comment. Glad you liked it!! XD Doesn’t really matter who to me. I just want to kill Irene off so maybe do Redis or Myrek. Him saving Clarisse probably wouldn’t have as much as an impact on the rest of the pack since she’s his benefactor. And I’m sure Redis’s opinion of him would solidify to a bromance (he’s kind of on the fence as shown in the reply below) if he saved him. XD But Myrek could be fun as well. So it was more of my way of creatively cursing, but I’m so digging this myth right now. As you can see, I’ve already adopted it and will be using that mythology from now on. XD I really need to flesh out Rafe and Arfen a bit more now that I think about it. Their lore is barely there. XD Do crime... yes, do it.)
Redis O'Bri “The earth has music for those who listen.” - Shakespeare ♜ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ♜
Redis liked to think that he could hold his liquor. It was a source of pride for shifters. Well, maybe it was just a source of pride for First Pack because of their ridiculous tendencies to drink until they couldn’t stand on the nights that Rafe’s Third Eye was high in the sky. He wondered how proper it was for him to get that wasted in the middle of a high class party, but Rafe was monitoring him, so what could go wrong?
Besides, he was in need of something stiff enough to make him forget his own name. Redis tipped back another prissy flute of champagne, grumbling at the lack of sting to it. His shifter anatomy prevented the drink from settling too heavily which was no doubt for the best considering how miserably everything hurt. As undignified as drinking in excess was, he doubted that the other partygoers would want to see him claw his own eyes out of his head. They ached and throbbed and burned with lack of sleep, lack of peace.
His chest was ripped sinew and - Rafe! He tipped the flute again and sighed And now I’m getting poetic. You’re ridiculous, Redis. It’s not like she’s dying. She’s just leaving and you can’t go with her. You couldn’t protect her anyways....
Redis bit his lip and closed his eyes, drowning out the party around him. His feet itched leave, to make a break for it back to Alinsky territory where he knew every leaf and stone. He longed for the familiarity of the dirt trails under his paw pads. Catching glimpses of Clarisse was like re-breaking bones that had set and healed. In all his years, he had never understood her unrelenting need to leave so completely.
“...my daughter, where is she? Wasn't she with you?"
Redis’s hand tensed around the flute and he slowly looked up from his position at the bar. Using his smaller stature to blend in so his Alpha’s didn’t see him wallowing in his self pity, he tucked his head behind the large hat of a mage. The female gave him a sultry smile as he moved as if she considered his action to be an advance. He tried to keep the distaste and embarrassment off his face when he slowly broke the awkward eye contact they had somehow established.
The mage only chuckled and went back to minding her own business, but the brief exchange was enough to break the young male out of his stupor. Channeling Belua to his ears, he listened in on the conversation of his pack mates. Guilt prickled at his skin for doing so especially when his Alpha’s were involved, but liquid courage had started to settle into his bones.
It was over as soon as it started. Or at least that was what it seemed like from Redis’s point of views. Despite himself, Redis couldn’t help but smile at the exchange, gladness for Zane winning out over any jealousy that might have lingered there.
For all Zane’s mild manners, he was the unknown. An unknown male coming into the territory of one of the most eligible female’s always spelled trouble... though maybe that was an antiquated way of looking at things. He would be lying if he said he trusted Zane fully; though timid, Redis wasn’t dumb. It was stupidity to trust another werewolf immediately. Clarisse had done it though and Redis had boiled with righteous indignation.
He wasn’t blind either. Zane was an attractive male and Clarisse noticed him immediately. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for her, but it didn’t stop Redis from fostering the seeds of rivalry.
But it all seemed to go by the wayside when Irene huffed at him and Myrek gave him those welcoming parting words. Redis lifted his head above the ostentatious hat of the mage in time to catch Zane’s genuine smile. The male slowly closed his eyes. He’ll be fine when you’re gone, Clari. You’ve done your job well.
Too well.
Redis was pushing back from the bar immediately after the Alpha’s left Zane by himself. The lights brighter than before and all the noise starting to become overwhelming to his shifter ears, the male approached Zane carefully. Not because he was afraid to scare him, but because Redis only liked to think that he could hold his liquor.
He came up beside the male and stood there in silence for a moment so he could gather his thoughts, “I overheard your conversation. I - well, sorry. I don’t like to ease drop, but-” He reached up and ruffled his hair with a huff, annoyance causing his mouth to rebel against his brain. He hated how he couldn’t speak sometimes. “It’s just been a weird day, you know? But that’s - well, I wanted to congratulate you, I guess. For making it in the pack.”
Redis looked over at the male and swallowed thickly, his nose picking up on the subtle change in Zane’s mood. He chewed on his lip for a moment and swirled the glass full of sparkling red liquid. The way the bubbles reflected off the glass caught his eye, but didn’t distract him from the question he had been dying to ask since Clari had spoke to them both earlier.
”Are you going to stay? I mean, the Alpha’s seem to be warming up to you...” His brows furrowed deeply and he suddenly wished to have his bones broken all over again. Anything if it meant getting to see Clarisse just a few more times before she left him. “Sorry. It’s just been on my mind. You don’t have to tell me. It’s - it’s none of my business. Sorry.”

{ @ both of you guys: This is pretty short, and I feel like this isn't the best, but maybe it's just cause I was kind of at a loss on how to include her better. I might edit this if nobody responds to it by the time I look over it again tomorrow, just because I am pretty tired, but I wont make any promises because lazy.
Also, sorry in advance about the memes. I know no self-control.
Amber Haha, Lilah is honestly pretty emotional and moody even sober, she's just good at hiding it. I imagine her mental state exacerbates it a lot, so she's very all over the place.
I'm glad they were interesting. I've had the idea for a while now, just wasn't sure how to introduce it.
No worries about the mark, I took a while to come up with Lilah's. Feel free to work it in wherever.
I thought your reply was fine. I didn't really address anything else in their conversation here though because I feel like it was ended pretty nicely and don't want to get repetitive. I am pretty tired though, so let me know if I need to edit.
No worries! Hope your mom had a happy bday!
mossecho It's okay, I've reached a new level of shame in understanding that reference. I heard the audio long before seeing the actual video though. Honestly, everything I know about tiktok I learned from instagram.
Thankfully, I'm a seasoned night owl/all-nighter puller. I did pretty good, crashed around 5pm the next day.
Honestly, it made me happy to write. I just really really love these two and the best friendship they're gonna form. I thought it was really sweet personally that Alex has started referring to Lilah as a person instead of a human (and also a friend at one point) and that he still more or less tolerated her hug, for at least a moment. Also, I figured he wouldn't be a big hugger, at least not at first. Lilah isn't big on physical affection unless she really trusts the person, but she is very starved for it and secretly really needs a hug, so I imagine she's a super affectionate and touchy drunk. Anyways, despite stepping all over vampire customs (not on purpose, of course, but) and being kind of emotionally messy, Lilah is definitely going to somehow get Alex roped into a friendship. and they will wear friendship bracelets and have a secret, overly-complex handshake and be adorable and
I also have never been drunk before so I don't know what it feels like. I have what might be a decent idea, because one of my special talents is actually making myself what I think being drunk may feel like in terms of emotional state without actually touching the stuff, but I don't actually know. I actually read this study once that I found hilarious. They made the participants think they were drinking alcohol, but they weren't, but most of them still started acting drunk after a while. They were, I think, testing how much of drunkenness was purely socially driven and I guess it kind of is. Don't know why I felt like sharing that, I just think it's funny.
Btw, the post coding is on the discussion page now (page 2), or you can get it by quoting Shoot's post from the front page. }

{ @shootforthestars Oh, yeah, I really enjoy Redis. That's funny because most of my characters are relatively quiet and in their heads a lot. Gabriel is weird for me because I know he's supposed to be kinda outgoing and not worrisome and smooth, and I am just so not. So he's not really any of those things now, oops. Also, I relate to Redis's plight, or at least I did at one point. It sucks, but he'll slowly feel better. Very slowly, but I believe in him.
I feel like Zane has been very sad and dark lately and idk why, but he is like that. He is having an emotional time.
Well, to be fair, she is right. Zane just isn't really that suspicious acting.
Yeah, I figured as much with Clarisse, I suppose I was viewing that specifically in regards to their own relationship. Especially since she did already save him. I was actually leaning towards one of the Alphas, but only slightly. Maybe I lowkey wanted Zane to win Irene over, but I know that wouldn't happen if she's dying this early on so *shrug*. It would be nice to develop the Redis/Zane bromance too. Eh, whatever really. I just want him to almost die because I love almost killing my characters. Sorry guys, you're all going to have a very close brush with death at some point.
It can definitely be used as both, but I just always like to see how I can weave little things like that into a larger mythos/lore. I just like the idea of Rafe's Third Eye being this sort of link to mortals and the mortal world, and since third eyes in religion are typically symbols of enlightenment and perception beyond the ordinary, a way to see into the soul. Like, being under the full moon is very significant because it strengthens the bonds between Rafe and werewolves, and so increases their Belua too.
Also, I might have already thought a little more on Rafe and Arfen. I might have an old werewolf song/epic about the how they are involved with mortals and also the afterlife. Rafe and Arfen might also be brothers. Honestly, I still don't have a whole lot there, but I had a couple of ideas bouncing around.

(Hey, do you guys think Zane and Redis are at the same bar Lysandra's at? Because maybe that's how we can connect everyone? Crispen brings Lilah and Alex to meet back up with her for whatever reasons while Clarisse and Co catch up with Zane. I don't want to obnoxiously shove my characters front and center, but, as I mentioned, it could be a way to connect our charcters. Starchaser No worries about the length, I had plenty to work with. Also, no worries about having some difficulties because writing drunk is diffcult/new to you. Also, no worries about those, either. The ones that have been posted so far have been quite funny. That's fair about Lilah, and who can blame her? Illegitimate child of a family that resents and hides her, mother disappeared from her life real young, now part of a prophecy with Luna breathing down her neck. Who could balme her for having some issues? Also very accurate on the emotions. Went from bad to worse for poor Crispen. Unfortunately, things will probably continue to go downhill for him if/when they go to Lysandra and then again if/when Gabriel gets into the mix. Ah yes, the age old issue of trying to introduce cool ideas and concepts, but having no idea where or how. Again, it was well done. Also, good for the mark and my reply. Also, she did seem to have a good body, which was good. Agreed on the repetitiveness and I think it was a good call to go ahead snd wrap that up. As a final note, love all those things you did. Very funny and accurate. That can be fortunate or unfortunate depending on how you look at it. mossecho Ah, that'll be interesting to see. Also, I'm really loving Alex. Poor guy's constantly shadowed by customs and what's proper vs what isn't. Can't wait to see how he develops, especially when the others come into the picture. Agreed about a short work day. No worries about Alex's drunkenness, I haven't been drunk either or had a drink (even though I'll be legal to do that this February, it's not haooening), so I can suspend my belief. I'm sure the same can be said for many of us. Also, I love how different Alex and Crispen are their in their apporch to people. Alex: It would be rude to reveal I have eavesdropped on their conversation. I will act like nothing happened. Revealing anything of the sort would be very unbecoming of me and is quite impolite. Crispen: Hi Lilah, I overheard the super important and private conversarion between you and your brother, so that's how I know your name. Now excuse me as I reference this at least two more times.)
Crispen Valdmiri "Treat everyday with a smile so it doesn't know what you're planning on doing to it." - Wayne The Mischevious Grifter
Awkwardly shifting his feet as the pair exchanged greetings, Crispen debated slipping back into the crowd. It was unlikely they would go after him and he was real good at avoiding people. Most of the time, at least. However, he felt bad at the thought of leaving Lilah. She clearly wasn't in the best state at the moment, and Lys knew how to help with drunkenness. Besides, she had already turned her attention back to him. He couldn't slip away now. She mumbled something about people being rid of her, then asked him to promise not to leave. To swear on the stars he would stay. Well, he couldn't leave now. The half-mage offered a smile.
"I promise not to leave you. I swear on those pretty stars above that I'll stick around with you and your friend here." He gave a small nod to Alex and then winked at him. Another apology soon escaped the vampire. He sure did apologize a lot, though Crispen wasn't one to judge too harshly. The hybrid focused back on the mage as she mentioned her ancestor, Luna, again. He glanced at Alex who had no reaction to it. The man nodded as she explained that she probably shouldn't explain the situation to him. Crispen nodded, he understood. It seemed important and judging by the conversation between her and her brother earlier, maybe it was for the best he didn't know.
His attention shifted to Alex again. He had flashed a polite smile earlier, though that had sense faded. It morphed into what Crispen could only describe as a frown. Although he couldn't see his eyes through the dark glasses he wore, the wrinkling of his eyebrows and the way the corners of his mouth turned down helped give away the subtle change in expression. That wasn't a great sign. Even still, Crispen took it in stride. He returned the change in expression with a grin of his own. A moment later, Alex outstretched his hand and introduced himself proper to the disguised servant. Carefully shifting the tray of desserts to his other hand, Crispen used the other to give Alex a firm shake.
"'Ello, Alex. Name's Crispen Vladimiri of the...well, I don't have a fancy title like yours, but I can make one up. Let's try this again. I'm Crispen Vladimiri, half-mage half-fae connoisseur of accents, disguises, and charm. Also wisecracks. And the occasional bout of stupidity. Oh, and we can't forget my affinity for trying to snatch stuff from time to time. Though, unlike my sister, I'm not nearly as good at that thing. Suppose that's not something to be ashamed of, however. I wouldn't have met your lovely friend had it not been for my lack of skill in that field." After a moment, he pulled his hand back and eyed the pair.
"So now what? Don't you have to worry about a prophecy or something, Lilah?" Once the words left his mouth, Crispen paused and considered his words. He blinked rapidly a few times before looking from Alex to Lilah. Well, he hadn't intended to say anything about that. To anyone else at least, he did offhandedly mention it to Lysandra earlier. The half-fae cleared his throat and offered a sheepish smile. "Remember when I said I overheard part of the conversation between you and your brother, Lilah? Yeah, I heard something about a prophecy too. And honest, I wasn't spying, sensitive fae hearing and all. But I heard some stuff and it sounded interesting, so I did get closer to listen... Okay, so maybe it was a little spying. I promise, it wasn't anything malicious, though I should apologize. So, sorry for listening on you and your brother out in the garden. I hope you can be as merciful as I and forgive me, though I would understand if I wasn't that lucky."
As he waited to be berated, or for her forgiveness, or for something else he didn't consider, his mind wandered to Lysandra. Ah Lys, what would she think of his exploits tonight? He ran into a Lancaster twice- well, he tried to steal from her the first time -overheard something about a prophecy, which he told her about, then promised Lilah he'd stick around only for her vampire friend to find them. It certianly made for an interesting story, though he knew an interesting story wouldn't save him from her scolding. 'What were you thinking?' she'd probably say. 'We're supposed to be lying low.' Sorry, sis, but I can't help that I'm so gosh darn charming. I'm sure she'll understand, he thought with a nod. He snapped his thoughts back to the current situation at hand. Hopefully everything would go well tonight.

(@shootforthestars, BrokenstarStarchaser I think it's fine. I enjoyed Gabriel's reply and I'm liking him as a character so far. Hopefully you'll get him down to how you want soon. I love how when first meeting, Gabriel and Clarisse are eyeing each other to gage how threatening the other is, and Avani's just oblivious to it.)
Avani Roshan "Someome has to care. Too few people care these days."- Lift The Chosen Angel
The werewolf outstretched her hand in greeting, which the man took. He introduced himself as Gabriel Lancaster even though Wendell had done so earlier. Before the angel could do the same, the shifter commented on the infernal's behavior. Raising her hand to her mouth, Avani lightly gasped at Clarisse's colorful description for Wendell's behavior. Her shock at the woman's words didn't last as the mage spoke up again. The angel's eyes shifted to the mage. He had a good point about keeping everyone together. The world did depend on their cooperation. They couldn't afford to have problems so soon. Of course, these problems would likely dissappear as time went on. After all, first impressions would only get people so far. As Wendell and Clarisse got to know each other, maybe they would become good friends.
Avani held the lightning piece between her pointer finger and thumb. Gabriel quickly took it and began to examine it in the air. She unconsciously leaned forward in interest. It seemed right to offer it to him. Not only could it be used to power various devices, but it was an acknowledgement of the relations between the Heavenlys and Mages. At least, that's what she heard. Avani knew it was customary for Heavenlys to give small items like that to their allies or friends. It did make her feel a little guilty that she hadn't offered such a thing to Clarisse or even Wendell. Hopefully she could remedy that later. Gabriel offered it back to her
"Yes, zey do pover some of our tech. Certian people are trained to collect ze energy from ze sun, clouds, or in zis case, lightning and ve can use zat energy to pover a plezora of zings. I know larger verisons of tranches are used to hold up some of our cities, zough zey aren't used for currency. Anyvay, no need to give it back, you can keep it. I have a few more vith my zings," she said with a smile. That part of the conversarion stopped there as Clarisse asked an important question. The angel glanced at the shorter woman as Gabriel answered her. Over the course of his response, it became clear he probably knew the most about the prophecy. Not only that, but he was related to the first chosen and knew who in his family was the current one. He had already mention her- Lilah's -name a few times. He described her, then mention she was sulking somewhere. The angel frowned slightly.
"Sulking in the shadovs? Is everyzing alright?" Avani wondered, worry lacing her voice. People sulked because there was something wrong. Maybe they were sad, or perhaps something bothered them. She hoped Lilah was okay, though it would be good to find her. If there was something wrong with the mage, they probably could cheer her up once they found her. Her attention turned to Gabriel as he spoke again. He seemed disappointed about missing the party, though knew it was more important to take care of the prophecy. Avani felt bad for him. It was clear he hadn't come planning on dealing with this. However, it needed to be done. And, from what she knew, there were plent of parties in Sanctum all the time. At least he could attend another one in the future. The mag soon asked about their plan, wondering if they even knew what to do. The angel was the first to answer.
"No. Vell, at least ze answer is no for me. Ziv- she's ze ancestor vho came to me, zough vith you studing zis for so long, I'm sure you knew zat -hasn't told me much. Vhen I first started getting ze dreams, she told me to come here and find ze ozers. Unfortunately, it vas nozing more zan zat," Avani answered quickly. The angel glanced at Wendell and Clarisse, wondering if their expierences were similar. Hopefully they had more luck with finding out informarion from their ancestors.
