{ Now worries, they're both "L" names so I get the confusion. I like your addition to the connections idea, and I think that will work well. Once Avani and Clari finish their interaction, we resolve the Redis and Zane problem, and Moss gets a response in for Alex, I'll time skip us to later at night when the party is happening. Maybe we cna have all our characters just arriving then.
Sounds good ^^
Yeah, I like Shoot's idea and it's a far simpler solution. }

Everything sounds great! I’ll go ahead and put out a response then for Redis and then Star can have Zane find Clari and set us up for the party. )

(Okay, I meant to have this up like a few hours ago, but I had to do some grocery shopping and then had to take care of dinner.
Anyway, sounds good. And yay for the upcoming chaos.)
The angel sighed. Although the stranger might've been right, she still couldn't help but feel some guilt over the accident. Her attention shifted away from the crash and onto the next topic. Apparently Avani hadn't been the only one who kept to her own territory. Clarisse- who was less of a stranger now -also hadn't been away from home much either. The angel could barely hold back a smile, that was something they had in common. As Avani asked about any strange dreams, Clarisse bit her lip. She looked around for a moment, before turning back to the angel.
"Come on. I'll answer your questions somewhere a little quiter." The other woman began to stalk away, Avani following her. The angel hadn't considered moving elsewhere to talk. It was probably a good idea, seeing as they were going to discuss the prophecy. As they slipped into a nearby alley, a thought hit her. Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to go into an alley with a stranger who hadn't said much. Of course, Clarisse did seem trustworthy and was aware of the prophecy. Avani could assume as much, at least. The other woman flashed a comforting smile as they settled in the alley. Now away from the crowds, Clarisse spoke up. Avani gasp, face alight with pure joy.
"Zis is berfect! You're ze only one I've found too, but it's a stard! Vell, ve found each other, but zat's still somezing to be excited about!" Avani smiled, wondering what to ask Clarisse during their short time together. There were many things she wanted to know, but she didn't know where to begin. After a moment, the angel began to ask her questions. "Vhat family do you belong to? It's obviously not ze infernals, but I don't know ze difference between shifders, mages, and elementals. Do you have any clue where we could find the others? Maybe we can start searching for them now and figure out what we need to do," the angel suggested.
Avani looked out from the alley and towards the crowd of people. If they were going to search for the other, they woyld have to start soon. The city was huge, and that was just assuming the others were in Sanctum. For all either of them knew, the others hadn't even left their homes yet. It would be impossible to find them, let alone figure out who they were. Then there was the problem with Clarisse. She cpuldn't stick around for long. Whe had to get back to...wherever she had to get back to.
"Do you have any ideas?" She wondered.

Amber Ok, I set this up to where we can get a solid one or two more replies and then the party! )
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland ✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
Creme hair flopped backwards when she tipped her head to laugh at the joy displayed on her face. Her nose crinkled with delight at the aura, "Yes, it is something to be very excited about. I'm not going to lie, when the dreams started, I completely thought I had finally cracked. It's nice to know that I'm not insane."
She laughed again and put her hands up as if she could stem the flow of the questions. It was amazing to have someone to confide in, but her hackles were still up. A life filled with never trusting strangers (even she had guarded herself around Zane) kept her from immediately answering every inquiry the curious angel sent her way. Instead, she shifted on her feet and let the bestial flash of her eyes do most of the taking.
"I'm a shifter. More specifically Rafe's bloodsworn. Well," She scratched at her chin and gave her a cheeky smile. "Sorry. If you don't know the difference between us, elementals, and mages then you probably don't know what that means as well. I'm a werewolf though it's a watered downed term in today's society. We use the term because it's easy, not because it's accurate."
From the square to her left, the large bell tower rang out the time. All the levity gone from her face, Clarisse cursed in a heavily accented voice. It had been so much longer than she realized. She leaned around the angel's wings to look out into the courtyard and then came back around to look up at the angel's face, "Ok, I'd love to stay, but I have to make this quick. If I don't, then all Arfen will break loose. There's gonna be a party tonight at this address."
She pulled the small strip of paper and pen that she had stolen from the desk of the Sanctuary and scribbled down the address with a harsh wave of her hand. The rosewood and cedar that drifted off the paper made her nose twitch in remembrance of the two males that were undoubtably panicking somewhere.
"I have reason to believe that the whole town is going to be there. If the others are on the island then it's our best shot at meeting them without searching for the next month. It might be a long shot, but I want you there regardless, ok? Tell people you know Clarisse Alinsky and they'll let you in. Promise you'll come?"
She blinked up at the angel with lip slightly puffed out, the picture of a puppy dog.

Starchaser I know exactly what you are referring to. XD And that is perfect for these couple of replies. Left it open for Zane to find Clarisse. )
Redis O'Bri “The earth has music for those who listen.” - Shakespeare ♜ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ♜
"No, no. It's ok. I'm stronger than I look." Redis said it as if the question had come up before, but there was no animosity anywhere in his body language. They continued down the road and the panic started to dissolve into the slow agony of longing, of being left behind.
His stomach twisted as he listened to Zane. It might not do a lick of good, but it's what Clari would do if she was in his place. Truthfully, it's what any decent werewolf would do for another. He knew that the male had nothing to do with her disappearance. Not unless he was working with someone and he had been a decoy all along. Redis swallowed again, "Don't run yet. We still have time to find her. Running will be your last resort. And don't worry about me. I'll be ok."
Redis honestly didn't know how accurate a statement that was considering that he had just been thinking he could never make it on his own. If they cast him out and he had to be on his own and Zane truly was innocent... maybe they could run together and help each other survive until they found Clari. It would be hard, but it was their way of life. Living as a pack was Rafe's gift; it was designed to be perfect. Yet, somewhere, somehow, nature had corrupted that structure and turned it into a double edged sword.
And right now, he felt like he was walking the edge.
"Let's just... let's just not talk about that yet, ok? It makes me anxious to think about it."
So they fell back into an uncomfortable silence as they both kept their eyes open and dampened human ears alert for movement. Clarisse had an odd stepping pattern, making her easy to identify in the forest. With so many people though -
"Huh?" He was shocked out of his searching and looked around the box at the male. His light yellow-green eyes blinked. "Did she say anything strange? Not that I know. It's not unusual for Clarisse to complain about her life being complicated... Why? What did she say? Was she saying she was going to run? That's not uncommon either but - "
"Gladys! Clari's doing it again!" He had tried to block out her screams and sobs from the night before, but she had the whole camp on their feet that night. It hadn't been his intension to pry, but his tent was directly behind Gladys's and he had been wrapped in Rafe's presence that night. Wolf ears heard more.
"A dream? What kind of dream?" The healer had asked, voice careful, but prying. It took too long for Clarisse to respond that she didn't know and couldn't remember. Redis shared their disbelief.
And he hadn't meant to watch her run off into the forest when the herbs were suppose to be coursing through her system. He had had half a mind to chase after her in fear that she would wake up in distress again. But he went back into his tent and tried to sleep. She wouldn't welcome him like that night so long ago. No, she had made that clear in recent months. Still, he lay awake all that night thinking about the odd dreams and the even odder lies.
Redis sighed and looked over at him, "She has been acting weird. She was having... nightmares before we came. They were violent and she was disoriented for days after them. When you... when you both were in the wagon last night did you... notice anything?"

(Sounds good.)
"I had similar vorries. I grew up vith stories about beople having dreams or visions and folloving zem. Zey usually end up poorly. However, zere are a few zat end vell. It seems zis is one of zose situations," the woman said with a smile. Of course, many of the stories were old fairytales and likely weren't based on anything real. That didn't deterr Avani. Her dreams and visions were real, and she wasn't the only one who had them. There were still questions they needed answered and people to be found, but the two of them meeting up was a good start. Clarisse laughed as Avani began to question her. The angel returned it with a friendly smile. As the other woman began to explain it, Avani found herself lost with some of the explanation. For the most part, she understood. Clarisse was a shifter, specifically a werewolf, and that was all she really needed to know it seemed.
Before Avani could say anything more, a bell rang in the distance, indicating the change of hour. Clarisse looked towards the square. The angel followed her gaze, realizing the shifter was worried. She explained what bothered her, the muscular woman nodding along. "I could fly you back if you need me too. I'm pretty quick and I can carry you even zough your big. Not zat I'm making fun of your veight or anyzing. You just seem vorried you'll be missed or somezing." Avani had flown people around before, it wasn't diffcult as long as they weren't afraid of heights. Of course, said people were her younger siblings during their youth, but surely it wouldn't be diffcult to bring Clarisse back. She was small enough for the angel to manage.
Avani continued to listen to Clarisse, blinking in surprise at something she said. A party? The angel had been to many before, but they were in Sanctum! What kind of parties did they have here? Were they one of the fancy parties she had often heard about, but never attended? The kind that was usually for richer folks? Would they be more like the informal gatherings she was used to attending? Could she even imagine what they would be like? Clarisse pulled out a small bit of paper and a pen, furiously scribbling something down.
"Is it a fancy party?" She asked as the shifter handed her the strip of paper. Would she get to wear a dress? The though exicted her. She didn't get to wear them often, so it was always a treat when she could. Unfortunately, shealso didn't have one with her. The only clothes she had were on her back or stuffed in her bag. It was only about two or three outfits worth as well. She would have to worry about that later. Maybe it didn't matter what she wore. Her attention turned back to the woman as she asked if she'd be there. She really wanted her to show up. It wasn't like the angel had any plans not to. Avani smiled warmly and put a hand on Clarisse's shoulder.
"Of course I'll come, Clarisse Alinsky. Even if ve don't find anyone else, it'll be nice to get to know you better," she hummed. Avani held her smile. Things were turning out better than she expected.

Amber Avani is straight up precious. T-T) Starchaser I'm gonna role Redis in with this reply so I can knock y'all both out! And yes. I would cry if they had a bromance. I'm starting to love my meek little baby boy Redis over here. XD He needs someone tough to balance him out and for them to make fast friends would make my heart happy! <3)
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland ✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
Clarisse's eyes lit up at her passion, "Yeah, my family isn't... receptive to change so they just thought I ate some bad caribou when the dreams started. They would probably either kill me or lock me up for the rest of my life if they knew about why I was having them."
Though it was a severe statement, Clarisse didn't doubt its authenticity. Her parents, especially her mother, had proven time and time again that they were willing to clip her wings in order to keep their precious heir. How many dreams had they already crushed? Too many to count. Clarisse looked down with a smile. It was a fine line that she walked between resentment and thankfulness. They had never given her much freedom, but they had given her everything else. A stable home, a pack that loved her, friends that would die for her... It was enough for most werewolves.
It was everything for most werewolves.
"Anyways, sorry to be a complete buzzkill. I'll pass on the offer this time; I'm faster on four legs. Thanks though. I might take you up on that offer later." She gave a toothy half grin at the angel as she asked about the party. "If my Mama's shopping today was any indication then yes, it's a fancy party. Rafe, I hate dresses and makeup. It's so inconvenient. You might not recognize me tonight. If you don't have anything, don't worry about it though. Come anyways. I'm sure we can figure something out for you when you arrive so you don't stick out."
Meanwhile, Redis's eyebrows moved up and down as he digested his words. The past week? He grunted as the box shifted in his arms, "Then she probably meant the nightmares. Gladys had to give her merrymint the night before we left for Sanctum because she was so frantic. Don't tell her I told you about them though. She'd tan my hide if she knew that I was telling you she had weaknesses."
Clarisse was one of the strongest people he knew, but even she had her mysteries. An open book and simultaneously the dark side of the moon, even her parents struggled to under her complexity. He liked to think that he understood her, but apparently there were things that he had yet to discover about her if she so easily skipped out on them. Redis's heart flopped in his chest and he cleared his throat to keep his embarrassment from showing through to Zane. I should have been watching her more closely.
He was about to suggest that they head off into another direction due to their lack of luck when Redis noticed Zane picked up his pace. Unable to see around the box, he followed blindly until he noticed that Clari's scent had slowly started to saturate the air. There was another smell mixed in, one that he didn't recognize, but it didn't matter as they turned the corner.
Redis almost dropped the box in relief, "Clari! Oh, Rafe, I thought you were dead!" He did set the box then, face lit with abject joy at finding the missing female. Paying little attention to her companion, he rushed in for a hug and received a startled grunt. It was then that he remembered that he was suppose to be angry at her so he tried his best to furrow his brows and look stern. Occasionally he nodded along with Zane though he was unwilling to voice any of it himself. To Redis, her safety outweighed any harm that could have been done, but he understood Zane's frustration.
Clarisse watched them with wary eyes as she received her reprimand. She ran her hands through her hair with a flinch, "Don't be sorry, Zane. I'm the one who should be apologizing. I lost track of time." She swallowed heavily and tried to look as innocent as possible, but it was hard when she appeared to be making a drug deal with an intimidating Heavenly. "I didn't mean to be gone so long. I was coming back. I promise. Nothing was going to happen."
Redis furrowed his brows and said as gently as he could, "Regardless, you shouldn't have left like that. Sanctum isn't safe right now. You know that. Besides, why are you here anyway?" He looked at the angel with curious, but slightly terrified eyes as he he understood that she might break him with one squeeze.
"I know. It was a mistake. I just had to - I was visiting a friend." She gave them a tight lipped smile and then gestured to the opening of the alley way. "Let's get out of here then. Mama will be hungry and that makes everything worse."
As they turned to leave, Clari slipped close to Avani and handed her another paper. It was sloppy, very clearly done in the moments the males weren't looking. Party starts after sundown. Don't be late. She winked as she walked by and into the street, her bravado instantly dissolving when she was confronted by her guards. Did she tell them? Yes. No. Yes.
She grabbed Zane by the wrist and led Redis by the shoulder as they sped walked away. Determined to make some distance from Avani and make good time, Clarisse kept a brisk pace. Once they were within a safe distance of the hotel and her head was more clear than before, she pulled them aside.
Redis squawked around the box in his arms and set it down once more. He didn't say anything as he caught his breath and looked at the hard lines forming on her face. His voice was low when he finally asked, "Clarisse, what is going on?"
Brown eyes looked into yellow and blue. She took both of their hands and flipped them to where their palms were up. With one pinch of a clawed finger nail, her blood welled up on her thumb, ready to make an oath, "Swear by Rafe's lifeblood that you won't tell anyone what you've seen or what you're about to hear."
Someone has to know that I'm going to disappear.

(Yes, she's so sweet and I just love writing for her. We'll see just how far her unwavering positivity will go...)
Avani's eyes widened in shock. "Zey vould do zat?! But, zey're your family! Family is supposed to suppord you, to help you zrough any difficulties you may face! Zey don't have a right to hurt you over some dreams! It doesn't matter if you zought zey vere real or not!" The angel drew in a deep breath and stepped back, trying to process everything Clarisse had said. Avani knew not everyone was like her family. They weren't as close or even friendly to each other, but for someone to know they would be hurt or worse if their family found out about such a thing like dreams? The angel hadn't realized there were people out there like that. Before she could dwell more on the topic, Clarisse declined her offer to fly her home. Avani gave a small nod. She understood.
"No vorries. If you can get back quicker zan I can fly, it's for ze better," she hummed in reply, returning the woman's smile. Clarisse proceeded to talk more about the party. Avani nodded along, listening closely as she spoke. Before she had a chnace to reply, something else caught her attention. Someone had entered the alley behind her, it seemed. The angel tried turn to get a good look at the newcomer, but it was diffcult with her wings blocking the way. A dark-haired man pushed past her and began talking to Clarisse. He was followed by another man who rushed past her and gave Clarisse a hug. He had had red hair and seemed a little small. Of course, most people did to Avani. The angel watched them carefully as they began to greet and scold Clarisse. The two obvious knew the other woman, though that didn't mean much or make anything better. Avani's stomach twisted inside. Were these the people who would hurt Clarisse if they found out about her dreams?
Avani eyed the staff hanging off her shoulder. If the werewolf needed help, the angel wanted to be sure she could help her. There was brief talk of killing and then apologies were passed between Clarisse and the dark-haired man, whose name was Zane. The angel watched, slowly realizing that the woman was comfortable around them. Worry still lingered with the angel, but she managed to relax some. With everyone calmed down, Clarisse gestered to the alley opening to leave. As they walked past, Avani offered a friendly smile and a small wave. It seemed the shifter woman was safe. Being the last to leave, Clarisse got close to the angel and handed her another slip of paper. To avoid the others noticing, Avani waited to read it after they left. Once out of sight, she pulled it between her fingers and read the rushed message. Party starts at sundown. Don't be late. Avani grinned widely, excited for the coming event that night. She eventually slipped out of the alley and into the busy streets, keeping an eye out for Lucrecia.

[[ Oh my goodness I missed a lot xD well, here is my response! since Lucrecia is separated from everyone rn i'll just have her wander around in this post, but she can turn up later and tragically die/viciously betray them/do some other dramatic stuff
Also I timeskipped a bit with Lu so I don't have to write about her finding her way to the teashop. yay laziness? rn I'm just going to say that her uncle's delivering tea to the party (i doubt fancy parties have much tea but hey, this is a made-up world so i'm making stuff up) and that's how she can end up reuniting with the others. Or maybe she does before, but at least this gives her a definite in. And maybe she can meet up with other characters and help them sneak in, idk.
Starchaser: Oh that's fine! Gives me a bit to play around with.
Amber & @shootforthestars: MY CABBAGES!!! ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez
Well, that was reasonably embarrassing. Alex hated corrections. The problem was not that he was wrong, the problem was that he was caught being wrong. Not much a difference, but a big enough one nonetheless. Alex had never blushed before, but he imagined he would have just then. Still, shame overtook him.
As they walked, Alex's eyes darted from passerby to passerby. Very few paid attention to him or Lilah, but he still kept a mental tally of those who did. There was a smoldering elemental (literally, there was smoke coming from her ears), more than a few glaring werewolves, and a small child who tugged at his mother's robe. Said mother was too busy haggling over the price of a gourd, but Alex clocked the child's large-eyed stare and insistent pointing. Alex turned away, now even more ashamed. He was afraid of pointing children. Coward.
Alex kept his gaze focused, stare boring into the wall ahead of them. They were covered by a naval map. It was styled to look like an ancient relic, although given the glossy sheen it was a definite replica. Besides, the occasional sea monster in the lake was funny. Alex tried to focus on that instead of his plummeting stomach. His throat tightened too, as if his body was not already being sufficiently informative about his growing panic. How very considerate of it.
Still, it was easier to focus on deep blue-greens and cream froth than the actual people. The Torch was sparse compared to the streets, the air less corrupted by sounds and disgusting smells. It was a must-filled area, yes, but Alex could do with the smell of age. By the time the vampire had adapted to the foreign environment, he was snapped back into discomfort. A quiet ding rang from a distant corner: the elevator.
Alex had never even seen an elevator. He knew that those strange metal doors with their two buttons was it (after all, why else have a sign saying "elevator" above it for all stupid newcomers?), but the beep was still surprising. The floor rumbled as the elevator came to a gentle stop. No one else appeared alarmed or even interested. Alex, on the other hand, froze. His eyes were wide behind his sunglasses, a seemingly unnecessary item that Alex suddenly loved because they obscured a large portion of his face. Still, he fought to keep his shock out of his expression.
"Ehm, well..." the vampire angled himself away from Lilah. Hopefully she believed he really was fascinated by a diagram of pre-Catalysm ships.
Alex weighed his options. You got yourself into this situation. You just have to own up to that, Alex. He put on a smile, although he could not get it to reach his eyes. It was more to convince himself than anyone else.
Turning back around, Alex put the nail in his coffin. While speaking, he walked toward the wall, the stroll painfully slow. "If you would be so kind, I would like to go from the top down. At the very least, we would get to see a beautiful view first. Would that be alright with you?" Alex clasped his hands behind his back and turned around, so he could have a full view of the room. Besides, it was so much nicer to stand on the outskirts than in the very middle. Everyone could see him there.
Four people left the elevator. While it was a small group, the presence of even more people alarmed Alex. More to keep track of, more variables to consider. He stopped looking at Lilah and focused on the others, willing them to go to the door and just leave.
"Although if I may, do you know how many people will be up at the fire? I did not see many earlier, but you are more familiar with the comings and goings of people here than I am." The fire's threat was less important now. Alex just wanted to get away.
Lucrecia Zembrowska Lucrecia loved the afternoon tea shop rush.
There was something so sweet about it. The flurry of greeting a customer, bringing them to their table, giving them a menu, and answering any questions they may have, all while making them feel welcomed. It was a race, of sorts. You could not go too fast, otherwise the customer would feel rushed. Yet you could not go too slow, or else you would be slowing the business and damaging profitability. It was a balancing act, in the end. One just had to be careful.
Lucrecia took Ms. Osipova's order. She always came in every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at precisely five past five. Her order? Oolong tea and three biscuits on the side. Ms. Osipova only ever ate one of the biscuits, but she would always compliment it as she left. She was not the friendliest customer, but Lucrecia still loved her. She was polite and respectful to staff, an excellent tipper, and a secret joke enthusiast. She always wrote one at the end of the check.
Lucrecia was preparing the main tea pot when her uncle came over. "Lu, we got an order for tonight's party. Can you deliver it?"
"No problem!" Lucrecia prepared the samovar. Ms. Osipova never demanded anyone pour her tea in front of her, but everyone knew she appreciated watching the main portion of the process. Lucrecia was more than happy to oblige. "What time?"
"By five thirty, but we should get it there early. You know how those sorta people. There's a side door around the corner. Think it's black with white lettering or something. You know it?"
Lucrecia nodded.
Her uncle pointed to a few bundles in the far corner of the kitchen. Someone had placed a convenient (and necessary) sign forbidding anyone from touching them. "That's them. Here, I'll take over Osipova's order, you go deliver that."
Lucrecia placed the tea pot atop the samovar and stepped back, letting her uncle take over. "Great, see you later then! I'll let Ms. Osipova know about the change. Oh, and remember to wish her good luck!"
Lucrecia began skipping out of the kitchen before remembering that was a safety violation (not actually, just she was skipping near a ton of nearly-boiling water). She stopped to retie her apron, recognizing the importance of presentation. It was important while working in the front of the house and even more so while working for the fancy Sanctum socialities.
After bidding her goodbyes to Ms. Osipova and wishing her good luck, Lucrecia took the deliveries and left the building. It was times like this that she wished she could morph into something stronger than a song bird. It would make deliveries like this so much easier.
But still, she was having a good time! She loved a good walk, that was always great. Lucrecia smiled, her grin wide and genuine. She rarely waved at other people in Sanctum, mainly since that was seen as weird here, but it was very common back home. Lucrecia missed that easy politeness.
She walked towards the fancy quarter of Sanctum. Lucrecia did not go here often, although she made the occasional delivery here. Still, the architecture change was drastic. Sleek steel and glass and perfect pavement replaced splintered wood buildings and irregular cobblestone streets, bright electricity overtook ancient burning lights. Lucrecia left curving street puzzles and entered the land of clean grids, heading for the mansion at the center of it all.
Sanctum's elite had been hyping this party for months! Lucrecia could not wait. She would not be able to see much of it, but maybe she could use the delivery as a way to catch a glimpse of cutting-edge fashion and elegant high society.
[[ I tried to base the tea prep off of traditional Russian tea brewing practices but essentially all my info came from Wikipedia, so please correct me if/when you see any mistakes. (:
Also if anyone is interested in ballet, yes, I stole Ms. Osipova's name from Natalia Osipova. No personality relation (I have no idea what the real Osipova is like or if she even likes tea), but I decided to spend too much time expanding Ms. Osipova's backstory. She is a dancer at the Sanctum's leading company and always drinks tea between rehearsals and performances.
Help me, I've been watching too much ballet and too much atla & lok, lol. ]]

{ mossecho No worries, we're still doing side quests lol. That said, I was going to let you finish the Torch scene up with an Alex response, then I'll time skip us to just arriving at the party's house. Hence why this post does a lot, hope that's cool with you. I hate this post, but I'm honestly still just banking on my ability to do better once we get some action going again.
Also, because we're going to a Fancy Party, feel free to describe your character outfits/looks with as much gratuitous detail as you all like, if that strikes your fancy. Also also, I realize now that Alex and Lilah need to, like, actually have a chance to get ready, so next post is also going to allude to them having been on a shopping spree for fancy stuff and getting hotel rooms so they can get all glammed up.
Tea is always required at a fancy party. Also, I think it's an absolute crime that we haven't had the characters visit the bookstore from Lilah's childhood or Lu's tea shop, so I'm gonna have to remedy that. I'm thinking those are one of the few places untouched after the big battle, so we send the group there. For Plot Convenience, it's because the next stone is on a shipwreck by some underwater ruins and they need someone who knows about it to advise them on the location. So the bookstore owner is a historian who specializes in maritime/nautical affairs because I said so.
I can't remember, did we ever come up with a set technology level for this world, beyond certain species being more technologically advanced than others?
Btw, the Rathoruls are a super rich family of Infernals who run some kind of business in Sanctum. Something that makes a lot of money, idk (kinda want a demon lawyer), and they are known for throwing really big parties (they're sophisticated, but upbeat affairs). The best way I can think to describe it is just fantasy Gatsby. I feel like Azar is a "do you even know who my dad is?" kinda guy. He's around the same age as our characters and he's the one we're gonna snatch the stone from. }

Amber And I’m having a great time reading about her! She is just the cutest little thing!! <3) Starchaser Don’t worry about it! Oh and sorry for the wait yall! Can't wait for the party! ) )
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland ✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
“Zey vould do zat?! But, zey're your family!”
As Clarisse looked down at the two open palms in front of her and breathed in the scents of confusion and fear, she wondered why the angel had been so violently baffled by her statement. Perhaps, it was just that she had been raised in an environment that made killing second nature that made the angel's outrage interesting. That environment was part of the reason that she wanted Zane to know. Know the risks that he was taking in staying with them when she inevitably disappeared from the party tonight. She knew that he understood, but today had been different. She had not planned to risk them both today. Tonight... tonight she was running.
Running to find those that also dreamed.
Redis was more hesitant to accept than Zane, his eyes lingering when Zane looked at him for reassurance. Everything within him told him to decline and get away, to run to his alphas and seek help. Something was wrong. Very, freaking wrong. But he nodded anyways because he couldn’t bring himself to say no to her, “Ok... I swear on Rafe’s lifeblood. What’s going on Clarisse?”
The female didn’t speak as she drew her bloody thumb across their palms and her own. For a brief moment, the blood sizzled before sinking into the male’s flesh. Belua, given to them by Rafe himself, now bond them together in word and deed. It was enough to make her breathe out in relief. Her shoulder’s relaxed and she gave them both a thankful smile.
“For the past week, I’ve been having dreams. Well, more like visions. I thought they were dreams at first and then they started getting too real to pass along as nothing. The second night after they started I woke up with a shredded shirt and a bloody chest because I had genuinely thought there was a silver arrow in my heart. The pain... it was too real... I thought I was dying...”
Clarisse gripped at her shirt as if the pain lingered. In a way, it did.
“I started seeing faces and hearing voices the next day. I thought I was just tired from lack of sleep because well, Redis, you know I get loopy. But the people were complete strangers and I knew their names. Avani, Lilah, Alex... The angel you saw me with I -I saw her. That’s how I knew her.”
Redis frowned, “You saw her? In these dreams?”
“Yes. I’ve seen them all. The fourth dream was the worst. You know how I took a silver arrow to the heart and woke up? I didn’t wake up in that one. I felt myself die.” Her voice was small, so uncharacteristic of the bold female. “That was the night I woke the camp up. Gladys tried to calm me down, but I ran because I knew something was coming.”
When she stopped to compose herself, Redis breathed deep. He waited until she opened her eyes and stared at them both. Calm had returned to her honey colored irises. “When I fell asleep the next time, I woke to a strange forest. There was male in the mist claiming to be my ancestor. Evaric. His name was Evaric. He looked like my mom just male. So, of course, I think I’m hallucinating off the merrymint I had been given, right? But he was just as real as that arrow through my heart. He told me that the world is dying and the only way to save it is to fulfill a prophecy.”
Red hair gleamed in the light of a dying sun as Redis tilted his head, understanding dawning, “The prophecy is a bedtime story, Clarisse.”
The female laughed, “That’s what I said! But he told me that it wasn’t, that he had been one of the original members and that I had to leave. I had to go with my parents to find the others... That’s why I left you today.”
When she paused and looked at them both, Redis stilled. He breathed in, willing her to say that it was all an elaborate prank. She can’t be serious... “Clari, this is insane. You’re probably just tired and stressed...” His whine was concerned.
But her eyes were steely and she looked at Zane instead, “I’m not insane, Redis. Zane, I wanted you to know because I can’t stay. I’ll be leaving tonight and I won’t be coming back for a while.”
And as she remembered the way the silver hissed and snarled against her chest in the dream, she wandered if she would be gone forever.

Starchaser You are so hard on yourself and you writing because I think its a great reply! And don't worry about the job! I hope that it goes well!
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland ✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
Clarisse, though her will was unshakeable, was not a dense female. She could understand that they would have little reason to believe her; honestly, if Avani had not been there, so clear from her dream, she might not have believed herself. She prepared herself form the objections from Zane since his eyes told more than his words. I can't explain why, but I believe you.
Her nose scrunched, surprised and touched by his openness to her troubles. Redis looked between them and then his eyes landed on Clarisse's. Her honied eyes shimmered with affection before turning confused when the younger male gripped at her wrist, "Clarisse... leaving right now would be the worst thing for the pack. I know you think this is real, but what if it's not and you leave for no reason? Don't leave, Clari. Please."
His eyebrows drew together when she floundered for what to say and instead listened to Zane's hasty proposal. She began to shake her head, "Zane, if you come with me, you can never come back. Even if I told my family we ran away together, they would never allow you within the ranks because I would be giving up my place as Alpha to do such a thing... And Redis's whole family is in our pack. He would be leaving them behind. I can't ask that of him."
But I won't stop you if you want to run. She tried to communicate the unspoken words. In a way.... it would be nice to have someone from home. She had only known him for a day, but Clarisse wouldn't mind being on the run with him. Perhaps he wouldn't mind becoming a loner again with her and the other prophecy members.
"Yes, that is defiantly not - " Redis stopped when Clarisse held up her hand. She waited, eyes searching for a sense that Zane was joking.
Why would he volunteer to come with her? Did he truly fear for himself so much to want to run away from her parents? Clarisse could barely blame him though she hoped that he would think critically about leaving a pack he had just joined. Why would one want to become a rogue after being together again?
The bell-tower chimed again to alert them to the hour and she looked down at the box with a sigh, "I'm leaving. It's been a long time coming. You know that Redis. Zane, if you truly want to come, wait until the party and we'll sneak out together. But you should consider what you actually want. I will make sure that you're taken care of here if you stay. Come on. Let's go back. Papa and Mama will be hungry."
She reached down for the box to give herself something to do and started to walk away. Clarisse clenched her fists around the box; she could feel Redis's saddened eyes in the back of her head. If I hadn't made him swear... he would have told Mama. But now, he was burdened with information. She worried for him, but really she worried for Zane.
She was starting to realize that she had seen his face in the mist too.

(I'm fine with a skip to the party. As a heads-up, I might squeeze in another reply for Avani either her trying to find the teashop/meeting up with Lu or having shanigans in the city, but we'll see.)

{ @shootforthestars Thanks
So, my original thought had always been to have Zane go off with the prophecy members (it would still work with him wanting to help his home because, in his mind, ensuring the prophecy comes true there will no longer be any danger to the border packs, and the magical barrier can be gotten rid of, allowing the packs to expand outward into unclaimed territory so everyone will have enough room), but I'm not really certain how to resolve some of the other parts of this side plot with nobody back home.
I hate to abandon the Redis/Zane friendship so early, but obviously I want to let Clari and Zane develop more. I'd actually be okay with Zane staying back for a while if you want to do more stuff within the pack, then maybe I could have him go after them later on if you wanted to keep going with the other pack members. I'd also be cool with making another werewolf character to have on the side. Once the main plot gets going it might be a little difficult to keep stuff happening consistently on the side though, but I'd be cool with keeping the packs being in turmoil plot for whenever there's a lull in the main one. Really, I'm fine with whatever, just thought I'd ask and see what you wanted. I can edit this post if I need to to adjust.
Anyways, yeah, we can skip to the party. I'll set the scene for us. Get ready for *drumroll* Exposition post. It is sooooo long, I guess consider it a makeup for my string of shorter posts from earlier. Mostly just a lot of Zane exploration and inner turmoil, cause I never really started with a super solid idea of his character, I don't think. He's developed a lot more from the other posts though, so I feel I can delve more fully into his psyche and thought process now, and flesh out his backstory a little. I still feel like I have my characters change/develop too fast, but whatever.
Party description is lame, but I was very tired at that point and planned on getting into it more with Lilah post. }

Starchaser That's part of the reason why I left my reply so open ended. If you want him to come then bring it on! XD I don't mind either way though I'm slightly, just slightly partial to him coming with them. I think it could be interesting for him to come along, but I also think it could be fun for him to stay back with Redis and then pop up later. I mean, it's not like you have to decide right now. We still have the party so if he wants to come by then, let him! I'll support either option. )
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland ✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
It was easier than she expected to keep a smile on her face as the pack ate and laughed together. Her father, delighted by the meal, howled with joy as the small group shared stories. Even her mother had the sense to smile and participate in the merriment. With each passing minute, Clarisse was increasingly aware that she was leaving these people in just a few short hours. Yet, in the short time while they ate, there was only a sense of release instead of guilt. Yes... she would be leaving these people that had given her everything. She would be abandoning them in a time of need.
But in the moments of laughter, Clari felt a sense of peace. I'm going to be free. Rafe, I'll be free.
It was then that the tense smile turned into something tender. She would use the last few hours to give her all to them, to love them and care for them. She would give her parents everything they wanted tonight; she would be a model daughter. They all deserved it from her. Clarisse recognized that she been awful to them in the past few years so before she went, she would worship them.
"Clarisse. You haven't eaten much of your meal." Her mother's tone was conversational if a bit worried. None of her usual bite invaded it. "Do you not like it?"
The female smiled teasingly at her mother, "If I eat anymore, I won't be able to fit into that dress you bought me today. It's tight, Mama."
Her mother gave a rare laugh and shook her head, "Oh, it's not that tight. When I was your age, I wore much skimpier and much tighter." When Clarisse raised her eyebrows in surprise, Irene laughed again with a shrug. "My mother was much less strict with me and Sanctum was a different place back then. They were more welcoming of vagabond. Parties were easier to sneak into."
"Really? You? Irene Alinsky, daughter of Ryland Alinsky, regularly snuck out to Sanctum to attend parties in tight dresses? Surely, we're talking about a different person." Clarisse was stunned.
Irene's eyes sparkled as she came to collect her plate, "I haven't told you everything, birdie."
Clarisse's jaw opened slightly at the nickname. She hadn't heard that in years... since she was a little pup that had no other aspiration than to please her mother.
"Mama, why does Papa call you magpie? He doesn't even like pie..." Clarisse's big baby blues, still their childish hue, blinked up at her mother from where she rested on her chest. Irene pushed back her flaxen hair from her face tenderly and kissed her forehead.
"You're right, Papa doesn't like pie. Fortunately for him, a magpie is a bird, sweetheart. He calls me that because they are my favorite. They are very smart and so beautiful. Some people don't like them though because they can be loud at night." Irene drew another finger over the bridge of Clarisse's nose.
The pup stuck out her lip, "I want to be called magpie too!"
Irene chuckled and head her close, "But that's my nickname." When Clarisse began to protest, she hushed her and said. "How about I call you birdie then? You'll be my little birdie and I'll be your father's magpie."
Clarisse looked down, suddenly very sad. Redis's gaze had never felt so searing. In all those years that he had pined after her, she had resisted his advances for his own good. She was not such a cruel person to leave him on the hook when they were plenty of other females that would be over the moon to court an O'Bri. His family had strong ties with the Alinsky's and for a time, his father had entertained the idea of marrying her off to Redis's older brother, Andrei. But that fell through almost immediately when Andrei learned one of his brother's had been so entranced with her.
So she sighed when he excused himself after eating less than she had, eyes downcast like a kicked puppy. Perhaps now he had to move on from her; perhaps he could be happy by finding someone else. Someone who felt about him the way he felt about her.
Zane left shortly after that and she was more surprised by his sudden dismissal. Clari watched him tread out as the others went to get ready for the party and rest. Her nose told her that he had shifted before he left for the outside area and some part of her longed to go to him and ask him to come with her. She didn't understand the desire so she dismissed it and stood up.
"Clari!" She turned to see Emmett's drunk face. Who gave him alcohol? Wait, there was alcohol?! She sauntered over to them with a smirk. "Fyn thinks he can beat you in an arm wrestling competition. You gonna let him talk like that, pup?"
Fyn lifted his fair eyebrow as if to antagonize her. Clarisse took her spot in front of them. She stuck her arm out and grinned like a banshee when Fyn's warm hand enveloped hers. Yes, this was correct. She would worship them tonight. She would give her all to them.
"Bring it on."
---
She was immensely grateful that she hadn't eaten as she squeezed into the dress that night. The silky, deep wine material hid next to nothing and Clarisse was almost taken aback when she took the full outfit in. Her hair, styled and swept up into a tight bun, allowed her neck and back to be exposed. Though she wasn't modest, most werewolves weren't by nature, the deep v of the neckline and the open back was completely different from her usual attire. A bow lay against her shoulder where the two ties met at the top. The skirt was less snug than the bodice, a slit in the side revealed her tan left leg.
Honestly, what did you mother think she was? Dis she plan to marry her off tonight to some old, rich bureaucrat?
The makeup was almost worse than the dress though she begrudgingly admitted to her mother that the gentle smoky look complimented her eyes and the hue of her dress. Her mother forced her into a pair of black heels and made her practice for the hour before the party.
"Do I have to do this? Why can't I go barefoot? Why do I have to look like a doll anyways?" She resisted the urge to smudge at the chocolatey lipstick on her plump lips.
"Hush. You look fantastic. All the female's will be dressed this extravagantly; you'll stick out like a sore thumb if you don't wear this dress. I had it picked for a reason, Clarisse."
It didn't stop her from fidgeting all the way to the party. She could hardly breath around her middle when she was sitting, not to mention Emmett had snickered when she had tripped and almost smacked her face on the floor of the limo. She had expected Redis to be flustered by her appearance, but he hadn't commented, eyes still faded as he looked out the window.
When they arrived, she got out of the limo as best as she could and hoped to Rafe that she didn't trip again on her way over to the others. Myrek, clad in a suit, took Irene's arm and led the way to the front. Clarisse tried to look regal as she approached Zane, Fyn, and Emmett. She looked over at Zane and smiled, "You clean up nice."
His suit had been provided by her parents, but it looked like he was just as much a fish out of water as herself. Since Redis wasn't talking to her and had already gone ahead to her parents, she took Zane's arm to steady herself as they walked into the mansion. They were silent as they took in the decor, but Clari leaned over to the male and whispered, "This is crazy. I've never seen so many people."
Demons, Angels, Shifters, Elementals, Mages... all just as extravagant and haughty as her and her family. They milled about the palace with their heads held high, picking off food and wine from Infernal butlers that milled around. She looked through the crowd with awed eyes. How am I ever going to find Avani and the others? There was dozens of people, no hundreds. They're everywhere!
Clarisse's nails dug into Zane's arm for a minute as she became slightly overwhelmed.
"Myrek Alinsky. Speak of the devil." Clarisse's head whipped to the side to see her father greet an impressive Infernal. He clasped her father on the shoulder. "I was worried I wouldn't see you and your beautiful mate ever again."
Her father smiled tightly and returned the hearty greeting with a shake of a hand, "It's been too long, Rathorul." (I wanted to get something going so I went for it. XD I don't know Rathorul's first name so I just used his last name. Also, anyone feel free to jump in. Didn't know if you wanted to use Rathorul, Star, or if he was just a character for anyone to use. XD)

Avani had gotten hopelessly lost. Well, perhaps not hopelessly, but she was ceetianly lost. Exploring a marketplace led to watching a mage street performer, which led to the rest of the city grabbing her attention and, well, she had lost her way to the teashop. Lucrecia probably didn't know where she was, and maybe thought she had abandoned her. Guilt prickled at the angel as she thought about her shifter friend. She didn't like the thought of leaving her behind without answers, but she also knew she had little choice. The sun was starting to set, which meant the party would begin soon, if it already hadn't. The angel couldn't afford to search for Lucrecia. She would have to hope she had enough time to at least say goodbye and catch up with the shifter later. Fishing the note out of her pocket, Avani read over the address once more. 311 Starlight Drive, it said. She had no idea where that was. Good thing asking for directions never hurt anyone. So far as she knew, at least. With a semblance of a plan in mind, Avani searched for someone who could lead her in the right direction. Hopefully she would get to the place without issue.
-0-
About an hour later, Avani approched the a place at the end of Starlighr Drive. People were already crowding in, walking from limos, fancy cars, and even the occasional horse-drawn carriage. Everyone had on what she would expect for the kind of party they were attending. Most women wore fine dresses, some that caused the angel to blush at how revealing they were. Many of the men wore finely fitted suits, most one solid color or monochrome. A few, however, caught her eye with exotic patterns and ornate details. Avani watched in amazement as people watched to the front gate. She had never seen so many people gather in one place before, let alone so many from the different families. The angel looked down at herself. She knew she was underdressed. A sturdy pair of brown boots, a pair of brown trousers, and a light gray shirt with a straps that went over shoulders was what she usually wore. Coupled with her bag and staff, she would surely stand out. It wasn't exactly fit for that kind of party, but it would have to do. How she wished she could've worn a dress to the event. Being an angel rarely gave her the oppertunity to do such a thing, but she wasn't one to complain. She had more pressing things to worry about.
Drawing in a deep breath, Avani made her way to the entrance. It was guarded by a whole squad of people. They all had matching stiff red uniforms with gold detailing and various weapons likely to deterr anyone from causing mischief. That made sense considering the occasion. The angel approched scanned the area and found a pair of security that looked more like statues than guards. Not wanting to be in the way of the partygoers, Avani approched. One was an infernal woman, a demon with magenta skin and large, ram-like horns that twisted on the sides of her head. She made Avani a little uneasy, though the angel smothered those emotions away. She couldn't judge someone for their heritage. The other was a man with no defining features. He was either a shifter, mage, or elemental himself with tan skin and a mess of dark hair. The pair gripped their weapons as she approched. Avani offered a warm smile, though wondered why they seemed uneasy.
"I don't mean to be a bozer, but I'm here to see Clarisse Alinsky," Avani said. The guards looked at each other, then drew their harsh gazes back on her. "I'm Avani Roshan, by ze vay," the angel added quickly. The guards remained silent for a moment.
"Do you have an invitation," the woman asked eventually. Right, an invitation. She should've realized getting in wasn't that easy.
"No, I don't. I vas told earlier to ask about her. She said ve vould meet up here."
"No invitation, no getting in," the man grumbled.
"But I have zis note. See!" Avani pulled the strip of paper from her pocket and handed it to the demon. The woman looked it over before passing it to her companion. After a quick glance, the man pocketed it.
"That proves nothing. For all we know, you faked the note. Besides, what does a heavenly want with the shifters and especially the daughter of Alinskys? We won't let just anyone one in and if you don't have an invitation, then you're out of luck," the woman said firmly. Avani opened her mouth to protest further, then closed it almost immediately. They were right. They didn't know who she was and it wasn't like she could get special treatment just based on her word. Avani gave a small nod, now wondering what she would do from there.
"Hey you, miss! You're an angel!" Someone called to the side. Avani looked towards the voice and found it belonged to a lanky man. A fine black-and-white suit hung on his skeletal-like features while light, thinning hair was combed back for the occasion. As he got closer, he paused for a moment before hesitantly approching. The angel frowned. Vonder vhat spooked him, she thought as he gathered himself. The man studied her for a moment before finally clearing his throat.
"Right, yes. How skilled are you with Lux, specifically the manipulation of light? A few of our performers decided not to show up and we don't have enough people to fill in for them and entertain the guests. Could you come help? We'll pay you the same as the others, plus you may get some tips for your work," the man said quickly.
"What if she causes trouble?" The demon pointed out, eyeing the angel suspiciously. Avani had no intention of causing trouble or stepping out of line, though she couldn't exactly blame the guard for thinking that. It was their job to be suspicious of everyone.
"Yeah," the man agreed. "She just claimed to be here on behalf of Clarisse Alinsky. What would someone from such a family want to do with this windblown street pigeon?" The demon glared at him and jabbed him sharply in the ribs with her elbow. He glared at her, but said nothing.
"No need to be rude, Jared," she hissed underneath her breath. Avani ignored the comment and turned towards the newcomer, looking down at him.
"You can put me vherever you zink I von't cause trouble if you're vorried about zat. You could also have someone vatch me if zat's vhat you prefer," Avani chimed in with a friendly smile. The guards continued to stare at her through narrowed gazes while the skeletal-looking man thought over her words for a moment.
"I think that would do, especially with the place crawling with guards. There are a few in the crowd, no?" The pair looked at each other, seeming a bit uneasy. Finally, the demon nodded.
"Alright," she sighed, "it should be fine. But if she steps out of lines or makes trouble, I'm holding you personally accountable, Rolland!" The man nodded, but stepped back nervously. Clearing his throat again, he turned his attention towards Avani.
"So, to reiterate, how good are you at Lux magic? Could you make me a circle?" Avani shrugged then did just that. A warm, pale yellow light appeared in front of him. The man nodded in satisfaction.
"Now let's try a tree." Avani nodded and formed a tree. For added effect, she made it go through a seasonal cycle. The tree started bare, then leaves began to sprout before it became full and lush. From there, the leaves began to wither and fall before the branches became bare again. The man nodded once more and requested another object. Avani made a few more figures, each growing more complex. Some he requested they move while others he asked for detailed renditions. The guards nearby had been watching in amazement, though when Avani looked at them, they shifted back to their harsh expressions. Eventually, the man nodded in approval.
"Yes, you will do perfectly, miss," he decided. Avani smiled and offered a wave to the two guards as she was led away. As she left, the angel glanced behind her at the two briefly. There was someone new with them, perhaps one of the guards that would be with the crowd. The pair whispered something to them before handing over some object. Avani's heart sank. The paper. She never got it back. The person stared at the angel briefly and left a moment later. Was the stranger going to get Clarisse? Were they going to get the leaders of her pack? Could her presence get Clarisse in trouble? Questions swirled through Avani's mind as she was brought to the other side of the walled exterior. Did she just get her new friend hurt? The woman was led around to the back wall. Various staff were flooding in and out of the door. Some were collecting ingredients for the evening's snacks while others rushed to search for things to make the party more enjoyable. It was a welcomig distraction from all the questions that flooded her mind. Rolland led her through the door and into the staff area at the back of the building. It was somehow even more busy inside, though she supposed she shouldn't have been surprised. It was a very important night, it seemed.
"You can put your stuff here...um...miss..."
"Avani. Avani Roshan," she quickly replied, holding out her hand with a friendly smile. The man hesitated before taking her hand and returning the smile.
"Pleasure to meet you, miss Roshan. I am Rollan Patrickson, head of the entertainment for the night. Anyway, we'll try our best to make sure your things stay safe, though you don't need to worry about it too much. Anyway, I don't think we have anything on hand that would fit you, unfortunately. It would have to be special order and well, we don't have time for that now." The older man let out a nervous laugh as he guided her through the room. People made way for her nervously, though some seemed a little frightened. It seemed a lot of people were scared in the city of something. How odd. Avani ignored them as Rollan led her to a side room.
"As I said, we don't have a uniform that'll fit you, but I can try and make you match up with the others. Just give me a moment." The man disappeared and returned a moment later with some burgundy fabric. He wrapped one piece of it around her waist and tied it at the side making a makeshift skirt. A loose, golden belt with a few medallions hanging from it was added, obscuring some of the knotted bit. He nodded in satisfaction before turning his attention to her top. With precision, he tied two pieces across her chest, forming a v-shape at the chest. Her light gray shirt peeked out from it. The colors didn't match perfectly, but the lighting the the room would probably help obscure that fact. It was carefully tied in the back and another gold belt- this one was thin without the decorations-was added in the middle. Once finished, the man stepped back and looked it over.
"Not my best work, but it'll do for tonight. What do you think, miss Avanj?" He gestered to a wall mirror nearby. Avani looked herself over, then nodded in approval.
"You did berfect! Zank you, Rollan." The man smiled proudly before turning towards a set curtains that probably led to the party.
"Alright, your job is fairly easy. Just do some light tricks and entertain guests. There's no show or script you have to follow, just help create an atmosphere of wonder and happiness. Some guests may request a certain display and you're more than welcome to do a little show for them. Make sure it's nothing inappropriate and that they tip you. You'll do great, miss Roshan," the man encouraged. Holding one side of the curtain open for them, Rollan led the way out into the main room. It wasn't as loud as she expected. Sure the hundreds of idle conversarions filled the air, but it didn't drown out the music from the live orchestra. As she was told, angels and mages alike were in various parts of the room putting on a show for the guests. The warm yellow, gold, and orange lights from the heavenlys was different from the multicolored displays of the mages. Neither tried to outdo each other, however. As she was led to a spot, Avani could feel eyes on her. People were watching. She offered friendly smiles to those she passed, but was returned with nothing. Avani lightly shrugged. They had other things to distract them. Conversations, food and drink, other guests, music, and probably other things she didn't notice. Eventually the two reached a corner in the room with only a few people. A plush, red-and-gold seat- similar to the guard's uniforms -was nestled there. Rollan gestered for her to sit. Avani complied and for a moment, she thought it would be too small for her. Much to her relief, she could comfortably sit with her wings behind her. She took up most of the corner, but was unlikely to be in the way.
"You can ask for some food or drink by some of the staff who pass you. Though, there will be a chance for you to have a full meal later. Good luck, miss Avani," the man said with a smile. The angel returned his smile and gave wave as he disappeared into the crowd. Avani studied the others around her for a moment. Drawing in a deep breath, she had to figure out where to begin.
(This was long, but I love Avani and really enjoy writing her. I'm not sure if I showed it well, but she's fully aware she's basically a giant. She knows she's unusually tall and muscular, but doesn't really think about it nor do the people around her. She's aware people will know she's there and acknowledges that she has some sort of presence. What she doesn't realize is just how intimidating she looks. So she's just walking around, wondering why everyone seems so uneasy/scared, not realizing it's because of her.)

{ @shootforthestars I'll probably have him come, but I'll think about it for a the remainder of the party and after-party battle posts. Thinking about possibly having him get injured so that he has to stay behind for a bit more time and the go after the others. Also, I tried to set this post up so Clari could notice Avani, sorry it's a little boring though.
Also, I never really had names or anything for the family, lol. I don't care who rps them, they can be like NPCs we all take turns with, and feel free to add onto them. The only one I named was Azar, cause he was the one I was planning on having the necklace with Avani's stone. I imagine he's around the same age as our main characters. My thoughts on his parents were that one was a lawyer and one was a famous actor. Their son is a bit of a spoiled brat who likes to have parties and spend money, a sort of "do you even know who my dad is" type. I also see him as kind of eccentric. His parents want him to have a successful career and follow in their footsteps, but he just wants to have fun, ya know? I think I'll just call the guy interacting with Clari's parents Amir, cause it fits with the Persian theme I had for his son, and it means "prince" which fits with their rich person status.
Me trying to describe outfits and physical appearances: he looked like a man. a person, really. with, like, eyes and stuff. and he wore clothes. fancy person clothes that people who went to parties and were also rich would wear. }

[[ hey y'all i am back
Starchaser: Congrats on the new job!
(warning this entire paragraph is me brainstorming Alex and Lu's ensemble) (also most of this gets incorporated into the actual rp post so feel free to ignore it) (i am just an organizational mess so i'm too scared to delete this, lol) And yes, I am totally nerding out over what Alex is going to wear. Idk if I'm going to end up researching anything, but I'm kinda thinking of something a la Loki's all-black suit? maybe with a bit of gold detailing? I know nothing about fashion but ooooh I'm having fun. Lu's outfit is a bit tough, just since because she is not rich, society elite and therefore cannot afford fancy stuff. and she's basically relegated to working in the kitchens, so her outfit is less fancy. but at the same time I once saw a behind-the-scenes video of Vogue at the Met where everyone was essentially wearing ballgowns in a basement so maybe the kitchen staff get all dressed up so they are presentable if any rich person wanders in looking for the bathroom. it's a fantasy world, i can make up excuses for Lu to look amazing
Ooooh what if the bookstore and the tea shop are right next to each other? Just spitballing ideas, but that would take care of two birds with one stone.
I don't know if we came up for the tech in this RP, but we did for the old one. But yeah, Sanctum had (at least originally) modern tech.
Also I decided not to include any more scenes from the Tower because a. I want to focus on the emerging era of well-dressed, expensive-car-stealing Alex and b. it's late and I'm lazy heh, like always. Hope you don't mind! Also I am guessing Alex and Lilah split up briefly to their fancy outfits, but I tried to write this so Lilah could have also been in the suit shop if you want her to have been there too. They are separated by the end of this post, but perhaps Lilah's suit just took longer? idk
Also the way Alex got in is not super realistic but hey, fantasy world! I can make stuff up... kinda trying to convince *myself* here, lol ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez
Thank goodness for Alex's father. Alex had never been particularly close with him, but his father believed strongly in appearances. He passed that belief onto his son, so consequently the two shared a deep love of fashion. Alex grew up copying his father's dress sense, from how to pair colors (and know when not to wear color) to which fabrics looked best in different lighting. He did not ponder if the lining was fused or the stitches handmade, Alex just knew. Alex's voice was similar as well. A tad lighter than his father's, but the two had the same thick vowels and rhythmic polish. Yet still, most of what Alex learned from his father was fashion.
Those experiences made speedy suit shopping so much easier. Alex had never actually visited a suit store before, since the tailor always came to them, not the other way around. Yet the moment he stepped into Brodeur Soigné, Alex was home. He spoke this language. Not only in the sense that he knew the specialized diction of cufflinks and notched collars, but in the sense that couture was a vampire's trade. It was one of the few things that kept vampires at least somewhat in contact with the rest of the world. Other species influenced couture, yes, but vampires adored it. So when Alex walked into the shop, he was greeted by a tailor he had already met. Mr. Beau Brodeur, great-grandson of the original Mr. Brodeur, visited Alex's family annually. He made simply the finest suits, known for their delicate details and classic craftsmanship. When Alex was sent from home, his father had told him: "if you ever need a suit, visit Mr. Brodeur." So when Lilah proposed attending a fancy party, Alex knew immediately where to go. Well, not quite. It had taken a few nervous questions to strangers, but nevermind that. Alex arrived and Alex soon left.
The fitting had not taken long, bless. The Brodeurs were all Mages without much magic, save a unique knack for productivity. To put it more exactly, they could sew incredibly quickly. A strange family inheritance, but a useful one in the world of high fashion. Alex conversed with Beau as he worked. The Mage, like his forefathers, was fluent in the vampires' dialect. It was a relief to Alex, finally conversing with someone who knew how to speak. More importantly, Beau was a genuinely interesting man. He was full of amusing anecdotes and sly, off-the-cuff comments about the Sanctum. As a child, Alex watched his father and Beau converse naturally about the state of world affairs and politics. It was unusual for a tailor to speak so easily with his client, but Beau just had a way about him.
When Alex departed, he left behind a small tip. Normally that would be rude (it implied Beau was working class, which he was most certainly not), but under the time crunch it was appropriate. Besides, the Antier clan could afford to pay generously.
Now Alex yearned to return to Brodeur Soigné. He had arrived ahead of Lilah. How unfortunate. Not wanting to loiter near the line, Alex joined it. Nearly everyone else was there with someone, whether a partner in business or romance, but Alex was dreadfully alone. He was still not entirely comfortable around Lilah, but that was due more to his anxieties than her. Besides, Alex may be well adapted to the vampiric elite, he had no familiarity with the rich socialites of the Sanctum.
Alex wanted to hide. He was still wearing his sunglasses like a safety blanket. They were expensive, yes, but still they stuck out like a sore thumb. Alex could feel the more-than-occasional confused glances in his direction. Get out, get out. It is alright. You do not have to be here, not really. Just leave. Now. Go, go! Alex's mind screamed, but his feet stayed still.
Unfortunately enough for Alex, the line was long but fast. Before long he was near the beginning. Goodness above! Alex tried to keep himself controlled. Resist the fear. Head up, shoulders back, back straight. You do not need to justify why you are here. You deserve to be here. That was all lies, of course, but maybe Alex could convince himself just this once.
"Sir, may I see your invitation?" asked a man, snapping Alex out of his spiraling thoughts.
Alex's father took over. Years of watching his father, mimicking his fashion sense and copying his speech, all crashed into Alex at once. He straightened and smiled. With one graceful movement, the vampire removed his sunglasses and tucked them into his breast pocket. He looked the guard up and down slowly, as if evaluating a meal before devouring it.
"I am Alexander Rojas Lopez of the Antier Coven. Do you believe I need an invitation?"
The vampire smiled. Alex was only an inch taller than the guard, but he still towered over the puny human. The guard himself, all muscle crammed into a red uniform, reeked of wet dog. Alex wrinkled his nose at the stench.
The guard hesitated but stood strong. "Sir, we require an invitation," he insisted. Still, Alex could hear a wobble in the werewolf's voice. He grinned, sensing an opening.
"'Your Excellency,'" Alex corrected. It may not be standard to use proper formality here, but he would insist on it when it came to annoying guards. Especially when they were werewolves. "One should address their superiors properly, just as one should know that any vampire within this city holds the highest status. I would encourage you to reevaluate your position."
Alex smiled when the guard stepped aside. He strolled in, breezing by the shifter and into the party.
That interaction was like a rush for Alex. He honestly could not believe the way he carried himself through that. No panicking, no cuff-tugging, no urgent wishes to disappear. It felt good.
Alex smiled. He drifted to the walls of the room, but this time it was not out of fear. His chin was high and his gaze steady, waiting for Lilah to appear.
Lucrecia Zembrowska
Lucrecia adjusted her hair in the mirror. No matter how much she tried, there were always some strands that managed to resist staying down on her head. They popped up like bent feathers, a small part of the whole but still frustratingly obvious. Lu frowned, still unsure of this gig.
Shortly after arriving, the head of staff directed Lucrecia to work the tea station. She was given an hour to get ready, an hour consumed by letting her uncle know, hurriedly changing into the waitstaff uniform, and then battling her hair. Still, Lucrecia loved the uniform! She had delivered tea to fancy parties, yes, but she had never stayed and served anyone. Hence why she had never worn something so pretty. There was a uniform at the tea shop, yes, but nothing as beautiful as this one.
The serving staff were all in white, the traditional color for such a position. The chefs were not, of course, but they worked in the back of the house. They did not need to worry about stains. Normally the front of the house would not wear such a stainable color either, but this was not a normal party. This was for the rich, so naturally everything here flaunted their wealth. Only the richest of people could find servers so talented that they did not get the smallest stain on their uniform all day.
Well, that was the reason their uniform was white. Lu still thought it was silly, but she would not admit that to her new boss. Besides, it was really pretty! White dress to her knees with matching apron over it, to distinguish the wait staff from any guest wearing all white. The dress had an illusion neckline, a detail Lu really loved.
Still, her hair! Lucrecia poured a bit of water on her hand and used it to pat the hairs down. It was far from a permanent solution, but at least it would help for now. Lucrecia whipped her hand off on the soft apron and left for the kitchens. The head cook assigned her a remote corner to keep her supplies. Lucrecia had already brewed a selection of teas, mainly those with caffeine so the guests would remain alert. She could see the vapor still rising from the china. She glided between the rushing cooks, the environment strangely familiar to the tea shop during the lunch rush.
Lucrecia picked up a tray of tea and left the kitchens. Her thin arms immediately began to ache. No matter how many years she had served tea, this delicate balancing act never eased up on her. Still, Lucrecia was smiling. She had made it to the party! As waitstaff, yes, but still! I'm going to be serving tea to the richest people! I hope they love it! No, no, I know they will! Maybe if they really like it, they will ask where they can get it. Then I can tell them about the shop and we can get more customers! Maybe even more orders, more catering jobs!
Lucrecia paused in front of a door. Behind it she could hear the party, the music and the chatter and... everything. Her smile grew wider. She adjusted her tray, holding it with one splayed hand. Then she opened the door with one hand and strode through, confident and beaming.
Lucrecia weaved among the crowd. The head of the serving staff, a tall man with a penchant for rushed orders, had given her a whirlwind of an orientation. Proper posture, gentle smiles. Never approach the guests directly, never speak unless spoken to. Linger on the outside of conversations. Arm steady, no matter the pain. Nod to each guest. Glide across the floor. It was all so much to remember! Still, Lucrecia took to it like a fish to water. Or a bird to air! she thought to herself.
She drifted between clusters of chatting guests, nodding to each guest that took a cup from her tray. It became lighter and lighter, but still her shoulder burned. Lu longed to switch arms, but she had gotten a stern yelling about that. A server must never show discomfort. So Lu smiled through the pain. Still, it was easy to smile for her. It always was... especially when she saw someone she knew!
Lu began to weave through the crowd. She was tiny, stuck in a crowd of annoyingly tall folk, but she could still make out a familiar giant. More specifically, a familiar angel! Lu tried not to rush (again, that was improper of a server), but how could she not? Lu made her way over to the familiar angel, her smile broadening with each step.
Finally, when she was close enough, she broke a rule. "Avani! Avani! You're here!" she called.
[[ Also if anyone is in any way interesting, Soigné is a word that (from my understanding) means "elegantly designed." Brodeur is a French last name that, according to the internet, is from the Old French word for "to embroider." Beau Brodeur's first name is a reference to Beau Brummell, who is seen as the creator of modern men's fashion and style.
and yes Alex is kinda "do you know who I am" here... he'll learn. also it is so obvious i had so much trouble writing this... ugh summer is getting to me ]]

{ mossecho Thanks! And welcome back! Sorry this took so long, busy day. Messy post is messy, sorry about that, Moss.
No worries, I love reading about their descriptions, and I also think it's super fun to come up with outfits. I also know nothing about fashion, so I can't say I'll be able to come up with anything that makes sense, but ya know. Alex's outfit honestly sounds amazing. I've been trying to research and look up some references, but I'm not doing very good.
Since I'm really indecisive about things and what I want Lilah to wear, but also really to look at fancy stuff, the outfit/looks thing will probably be confusing and boring. Just try to pretend it's really awesome and lavish. I also kinda thought I gave her too much money, until I remembered she's basically the illegitimate child of the President who was already part of a really wealthy family (and who just continues to marry into other rich families), and if that wont get you funds I don't know what will.
Honestly, the amount of research I put into the silliest things in this post (and some I chose to completely ignore) is kind of ridiculous, but I finally figured out why I cared so much. It's fun to play rich. So, almost all of this is pure description, and it's boring cause I can't describe things in an interesting way anymore, but only the end is really necessary for a response.
In case it wasn't obvious, I know nothing about fashion, makeup, or being rich, but I sure do like to imagine a world where I do. If I say wrong stuff, just disregard or headcanon it away. I also can't describe any of it to save my life. I always imagined Mages like a lot of accessories, but also just wanted to be as extra as possible. As for the dress, it was basically just me leaning over to look at Shoot's paper and copying the terms. Unlike you, I made no such attempt to incorporate my descriptions in a natural or good way. Sorry.
That's fine, I was just trying to wrap up the scene, but give you something to work with if you wanted to do anything more with the scene. Yeah, I imagine they split up, and Lilah would probably take longer to get ready.
That's what we're all about around here. Handwaving is how we roll. I honestly didn't think it was that unrealistic though. I am, however, having Lilah sneak in because nobody else did and I wanted it to happen.
Also, I'm well aware I spent way too long making Lilah do stuff, I just like to imagine living one night as a rich person. So I guess Lilah just decided it was a her day and she was gonna live the lifestyle of the rich people she was going to go fool. I like to imagine she got there not terribly long after Alex, but poor guy probably had to wait a while. }

Starchaser He could be injured if you want. Honestly, I don't know if it really matters whether he comes now or later or never as long as we don't just forget about him entirely since I love him. XD Him getting injured could add an interesting dynamic to the story as he would probably be accepted easier if he got injured to save someone. I love how everyone and their dad's are pulling the 'do you know who I am?!" card right now. It cracks me up for some reason. Spoiled brats are always fun to deal with though so I'm ready! I feel like that's me when I describe clothes. I can't ever hit a description that I actually enjoy. Also, since Moss is back, I left my reply more open to Avani just seeing Clarisse and coming to her if y'all want! I didn't want to interrupt a reply. XD)
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland ✶ ⤐ ☾ ⬷ ✶
You're not bad yourself. Despite herself, she allowed the compliment to sink in and make her chin tilt up a little more. Radically confident, she knew she was beautiful, but she rarely showed so much of herself to outsiders. Yet, the compliment was instant payoff for the uncomfortable outfit. She tipped her head and twirled her hand in a mocking display of the pretentious people around them, "Why thank you, good sir."
It was then that Clarisse smiled wolfishly, resisting the urge to tease the Arfen out of him about his extreme make over as well. With his hair cut shorter and the scum scrubbed off his face, she could actually see the handsome lines and sharp cuts of his face. Clean, he looked younger, but simultaneously more mature in the suit.
Deciding against it, she tilted her ear up towards his mouth to hear over the large music and babble of voices, "I have to agree with you. They're like flies on a carcass. They just keep coming from nowhere." Indeed, the room seemed to become even more crowded as the evening ticked by, each creature passing her more extravagant than the last. Her eyebrows rose at the woman who passed by with a whole peacock on her head. "I can't imagine knowing any of these people. I mean Papa has connections with the other Families but this is -" She immediately cut herself off, sensing the arrival of a stranger. Velvety, brown lips began to purse together when his form emerged from the parting crowd. The eyes of those around him trailed his every move and Clarisse immediately knew that the interesting looking Infernal was someone of importance. Her nose scrunched as the scent of fire and smoke hit her in full force.
So different from shifters that perpetually smelled like woods and earth and the animal they embraced. The smell of freshly fallen snow drifted off Zane's form even now as if the mountains at the border had permanently imprinted on him. And with Avani, she had come to identify Heavenly's with the crispness of air and clouds, so light and pure compared to the heavy handed charred scent of Infernals.
Clarisse had a hard time keeping the intrigue off her face as his six eyes roamed over their forms. I know it's rude to stare, but he's so... fascinating. His ram's horns tilted and reflected the pink hue of his hair. She bit down on her lip to keep from breaking any unspoken rules of etiquette and almost squeaked when he took her hand to kiss.
Weird...
His accent gave her another startle when he introduced himself, the sultry tone almost comical from such a mismatch of traits. She didn't know what she was expecting, but it certainly hadn't been the young and boyish tone. Her fascination began to drift, however, when she had the faint realization that his eyes held an almost predatory gaze as if he understood he could have anything he wanted. Unable to stop herself, she smirked and said as demurely as she could, "You're too kind, Azar." She tipped her head towards the male on her arm, with a teasing glint. "This is Zane, a pack mate of mine. I'm sure you've heard of him too."
She refrained from mentioning that she hadn't, in fact, heard of Amir. He father had mentioned in passing that his father, Amir Rathorul, had connections with families all over Veuxdelys, but had neglected to mention the name of his son. To her right, her father was laughing with the very Infernal that had spent time working for her father before she was born. She couldn't remember why, but it had something to do with a rogue werewolf in Sanctum.
Clarisse felt the tie at her neck pull taunt when she shrugged, "Oh, sure, yeah. A tour would be great."
She couldn't help but look at Zane with astonishment when he turned around and she saw his massive wings and skeletal tail twitched. His words drowned out in her ears as she leaned up and whispered, "I've never met an Infernal before! He's so... extravagant!"
Clarisse felt like a pup again, seeing so many new things and creatures. Truthfully, it only strengthened her resolve to get out and touch more of the world with her bare hands. They breezed by where the Heavenly's and mages were doing tricks to entertain the crowd. She pretended to listen as she scanned the forms for Avani. Gray wings caught her attention and she raised her voice to call out to the girl when another form ran up to her, eager. She bit her lip and swallowed, debating if she should abandon Amir and Zane to go over there, but they were turning the corner as soon as she decided to leave.
At least she's here. I'll give Amir five more minutes and then I'll go find her again.
When the tour was over and her awe had settled in her chest, Amir turned to her with a luscious smile and Clarisse could almost smell the request at the tip of his tongue.
Don't ask to dance, don't ask to dance, don't as to -
"Might I have this dance, Miss Alinsky?"
There it is.... She tensed. Dancing had been the one thing she had hoped to avoid tonight. In a tight, restrictive dress and torturous heels, dancing was a recipe for disaster. If he had asked at any other time or setting, she would have agreed instantly, but she doubted her abilities to dance with him in the way he was hoping.
I'll worship them tonight. The thought from earlier fluttered around her skull and so she was detaching from Zane with one look of hesitation and taking the Infernal's dark purple hand before she could make a fool of herself and her parents. "Of course."
Sending Belua down to her feet and legs to create a greater sense of balance, she allowed him to sweep her off onto the crowded dance floor. Clarisse hoped she looked more confident than she felt when she mimicked the hand positions of those around her and smiled, "I'm sorry if I step on your feet. Werewolves don't usually take dancing lessons."
The smell of smoke was even more overwhelming so near to him; she wondered if he constantly smelled like he was burning or if it was just the close proximity that amplified it. She looked down for a second and allowed her eyes to linger on the beautiful, if not ostentatious, necklace that stuck out from his suit jacket.
Take it.
Her nails dug slightly into his shoulder in surprise. Was that... Evaric's voice? Slowly, she lifted her gaze back to him, "That's a beautiful necklace. A family heirloom?"

{ @shootforthestars Aw, I'm glad you like him. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised too, I always feel like my characters are so boring. Oh, that's definitely true, I'll have to have him take a blow for someone else. I imagine that Belua magic gives Shifters much faster healing abilities, but maybe with the attackers being connected to the Evil Magic the damage is a lot worse.
Also threw Azar's response in here too since he doesn't do much. Tried to leave it open in case you get to interact with Avani first.
Same, I love it so much xD I just think rich people are funny to write about
I don't know why, but sometimes descriptions come so easily to me (usually about the setting) and other times it's like "big tree is tall with leaves and uhhh there's birdies : )"

Avani had quickly gotten to work with a light show for the guests. Currently, the shapes of yellow butterflies were fluttering nearby, dancing through the air above the partygoers. A couple of people looked impressed, though most didn't acknowledge the display. Despite that, it would still subconsciously linger in their minds or something. Avani only assumed as much, she didn't really know how minds worked. As the butterflies shifted into a pair of dancing dragons, the angel looked to other displays- Rollan hadn't been all that specific with her on a theme -for guidence. There was only so much sbe could think of to create an atmosphere of wonder and enchantment. Things like dragons and butterflies seemed to fit the bill, though would everyone think that way? Avani couldn't be sure, but it seemed to be working.
As her light show continued- it didn't take much thought to keep it going -the angel allowed her eyes to wander. She could see a mage across the room preforming a few tricks. A silvery shape dissipated into almost a mist and sprinkled over the crowd before disappearing altogether. It was beautiful, and a good point for inspiration. She could see a few sparkly bits sticking to people's clothes or hair, though assumed it would eventually disappear too. Unlike the light from Lux, which had no physical effect on people other than the possible blinding, Vis magic seemed to be able to have a physical effect on people. Bits of magic, or whatever it was, sticking to clothing, visible breezes that ruffled up hair, and even tiny shapes that seemed to spit water, but didn't get anything wet. It was all quite unusual, but interesting.
As Avani continued about her business of taking the occasional request or continuing with her show, something caught her eye towards the center of the room. The familiar creme-colored hair and slightly muscular build indictaed it was Clarisse. She wore a flashy dress and extravagant makeup covered her distant features, but it was definitely the werewolf. She was with her friend from earlier- the dark-haired one -and they were joined by someone new. From what she could see, the newcomer was a demon with six eyes and a skeletal tail. The angle stared for a moment, wide-eyed. She'd never seen anyone like him before! But there was something else about him, something more powerful that grabbed her attention. There was an energy about him, though it wasn't him. It was something on him. Although it was diffcult to see through the crowd, Avani caught a glimpse of a necklace. Ornate silver wrapped around an orange gem on his chest. The angel nearly gasped, fumbling for a moment in her display. She had seen it before, in her dreams.
Avani nearly got up to join the small group, but forced herself to remain down. What was she going to do, try and take it from him? That probably wouldn't go over well with anyone. Besides, she promised not to cause trouble with the two guards. Avani continued to stare, unsure of what to do. The necklace, or at least the gem, was tied to the prophecy, though the how and why was still a mystery to her. Those questions could be answered later. It was important to get the piece of jewelry, though the question was how. Before the angel could think too deeply into it, a familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Avani! Avani! You're here!" A few guests warily eyed the small shifter as she hobbled towards the angel. Avani grinned widely as Lucrecia approched, ignoring their whispers and stares.
"Lu! I'm happy to see you made it to Sanctum safely!" What could she say? There was a lot she had to cover between their flight over the surrounding lake and now. Then there was the question of how much she should say. She didn't want to keep anything from her shifter friend, but she also didn't want to endanger her. "I'm so sorry for leaving you behind like zat. I crashed into a vegetable cart and zen got lost. I can't really say vhy I'm here right now, but I'll try and explain later."
Avani looked after Clarisse again and found she and her companions were heading elsewhere. She needed to talk to the shifter about that necklace, though how? She couldn't leave her spot. Not only had she promised not tk cause trouble, but she alsp agreed to help with the job and she couldn't let down Rollan. Besides, it would be a little diffcult to move around the room. However, talking to Clarisse and getting that necklace was important to stop the end of the world. Avani's gaze drifted towards Lucrecia.
"I can't leave zis spot, but I have a job to do. You see zose zree over zere?" She gestered to Clarisse, her friend from earlier, and the demon. "I know zat voman, ze one viz ze light hair and reddish dress. Do you zink you could bring her over here or at least tell her Avani's here or point me out? I need to talk to her." The angel felt a little guilty. She was asking a lot for someone she had just abandoned and wouldn't fault the wren-shifter if she refused. However, she couldn't exactly get up and approch Clarisse. It seemed like a bad idea.
(I love how literally everyone is rich and then we have Avani and Zane who are just "wow I'm surrounded by rich people", but they probably mean that in different ways. I mean, I don't know about our elemental (speaking of which, have we decided what we're going to do with them?), but it was something kind of funny that I noticed.
Also, that moment when you have some fun character ideas, but don't know when/if/how to add them.)

{ xD I guess we all like to pretend to be rich people, although I think it makes a little more sense in context. The people who created the original prophecy all became pretty famous and were really powerful. Isn’t Avani even secretly from an important family, but her ancestor changed their name out of shame?
I already have an Elemental character mostly planned out, but I’m going to leave the spot open up until the cult attack just in case we happen to get a joiner, although I doubt we will. In a way it’s more convenient for one of us to add another prophecy character because we can adjust them more easily to the plot if Spider comes back early enough. Depending on when they return, I was thinking of making my elemental be an impostor, or at least the wrong person despite not knowing. I think someone else mentioned the idea of them being twins, which I thought was kind of cool. Like maybe they were separated at birth by the cult, who stole the real prophecy member or something. Not gonna lie though, seeing Veive as an antagonist would be pretty cool. I have a couple different ways if could play out, mostly just depends how far we get when Spider is able to come back.
That said, if anyone else would rather have the other elemental, I’m cool with that too. Or we can even take turns with them, since having two important characters might be a bit much to handle at times.
Oh, I know. I have so many character ideas. This is world is just so fun and allows for a lot of cool opportunities.You're welcome to create as many more as you want, I don’t mind. Even if you just want to introduce the ideas for them and we can figure out how to incorporate them. Our old planning page has gone without posting for a while, so I think I’m going to make a new discussion page for us to talk about anything else. }

(And there is nothing wrong with that, 'cuse it's fun. As you said, it does make sense that these people would likely come from well off families due to ties in the prophecy. Anyway, yes she is. Basically I imagine after the last failure, there weren't a whole lot of Caelums left, but I could see them dealing with the aftermath of the failure. A mixture of shame and "I didn't sign up for this" cause them to fade into obescurity. A couple of people from her family long ago took Roshan's first name as their surname out of some respect and a way to hold onto what once was. So technically she does come from a rich family too, only that wealth wasn't claimed by anyone, so eventually the government/council/leaders(haven't decided what the Heavenlys have yet)took it to be used.
Sounds good and I think introducing them around the attack/just before works. I agree it would probably be better for one of us to have the elemental ultimately, just so things go smoothly if/when Spider can come back. Anyway, I'd be fine with anything for the elemental, whether it's you who has them or someone else. Though if one person wants to rp them most of the time and have another person/everyone else pitch in from time to time, that could be interesting too. Also Veive coming back as a villain? That would be quite interesting, especially if the manipulation of the others in the prophecy is involved.
Yeah, I think I went with combining a few ideas, which definitely helps. I might do that, maybe leave some references to them or use them as NPCs kind of like what you're doing with Azar. A new planning/discussion page is probably a good idea, and we can link the previous to this new one. Maybe we also use it to store side character information (like Lucrecia, Zane, and Redis), but also info on more important character sthat could appear like family leaders.)

{ Amber Having rich characters really is fun, I don't know exactly why, but it just is. That's really cool about Avani's family, and it makes sense that they wouldn't want to deal with the prophecy, especially after so many failures. Also, excited for what you decide on the Heavenly governemnt style. I think so far we have a sort of kraterocratic monarchy with the Shifters, vampires seem to have a kind of aristocratic oligarchy (not really sure about other Infernals, they don't do much with government), and I imagine Mages could be considered a representative democracy of sorts (but definitely with oligarchic tones). For Elementals I'm still not sure, but they have more than one leader, probably one from each sub-family. Maybe Heavenlys could have a theocratic style government?
I was just going to have them show up soon after the attack and immediately jumping into the action. I'm pretty excited for this guy. Since we already have two socially awkward loners in Lilah and Alex, the sweetest of sweethearts in Avani, and headstrong (but still team player) Clarisse (and if you want to count to Zane and Lu, we've got an some other interesting personalities in the mix). Naturally, I decided what we really needed to tie the group up nicely is an absolute arrogant jerk. Basically, I'm trying to go the complete opposite direction of everyone else with this guy. Thinking of calling him either Magnus or Caspian. Don't think he'll be as much of rich brat as some of the others, but he'll act like it for sure.
So far nobody else has said they wanted them more, so I'm fine with rping him most of the time, and letting the others take over if it becomes a bit much. It would have been nice to have someone new join in, but like you said, I think it will just work out easier this way (and I am excited about this character). Also, I remember Spider mentioning him coming in as an antagonist later on, which I think would be really interesting for sure. We can figure out the details when they get back though.
Sounds good! I'll go ahead and make the new page today so we can address anything else we've come up with so far. }
