Echo was silent for a long moment, drinking more of the whiskey as she considered Nat’s words, “It’s not… easy for me, opening up to others.. even with some of my closest friends, like you. It’s not one of my strong suits. The only person who knows me better than myself is Shard, but that’s because he’s my twin brother.” She said finally, setting the bottle off to the side. “I got into an argument with Mathias when I met with him at the beach last night.” Echo admitted to Nat, feeling the same frustrating emotions she had felt last night suddenly hit her full force again. Maybe she just needed to talk about it to someone after all.

Echo huffed, a light blush starting to color her cheeks as the alcohol slowly started to take affect on her, “Turns out we both have feelings for each other, but what we both want is completely different.” She said, giving a sharp shake of her head. Echo grabbed the bottle and drank from it again before she continued explaining what had happened, “Everything had been going fine in the beginning, a bit of light flirting and casual conversation, and I figured it was a good time as any to see if he felt the same way I did. Well, he did. And when I asked him about a relationship, the conversation went completely downhill from there. I mean, I know he’s had a lot of flings with other campers, and I told him I had nothing against that, but I didn’t think he would be completely against a lasting relationship. The next thing I know, he’s going on about how I’m too good for his reputation, and that I could find anyone in camp that would be more than willing to be my partner. As if I would want to be with just anyone, or like I’m some sort of possession everyone at camp fights over.” She said, muttering the last sentence as she uncrossed her legs and brought them up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them and resting her chin on her knees.

“I guess he just wasn’t who I thought he was.” Echo said with sigh, pushing the bottle over to Nat. She felt a bit better telling Nat all of this after all, like a weight had been lifted off her chest. Echo had always been in the habit of keeping things like this to herself, always trying to figure things out on her own instead of bothering someone else with it. “Too bad my feelings won’t disappear overnight. That would certainly make things easier.”

“It has, a bit.” Echo admitted, taking the bottle back and looking at it. They had already drank at least half the bottle by now. “But maybe we should slow down a bit. We don’t want to go back to camp stumbling and give ourselves away as to what we were up to.” She suggested, taking one last drink for herself before putting the lid back on. “We wouldn’t want to drink it all in one go now, do we?”

“Right,”Nat agreed with her,”we’ll save this for another time,”she grabbed the closed bottle putting it back into her satchel. “Hey, this stuff…it will pass. And you know, if he does have real feelings for you. He’ll approach you about it.”she said, offering a sympathetic smile and getting up off of the log. “Anyway…what do you wanna do now?”she asked, turning towards her.

Nat nodded and turned around leading the way back from the trees and into camp. “So how are you recovering from the attack, you know physically? I didn’t really see you during any of it.”she asked, lightly kicking at loose pebbles as she passed them.

(This would be a perfect opportunity for anyone to jump in )

Lloyd was taking a jog through the woods, right at the edge of camp. Going too far was not a good idea for a man who’s only godly ability was looking and feeling young and healthy more than others. He slowed his jog as he noticed Nat and Echo talking together. He slowed down, waving to them, seemingly energetic and not out of breath even after his long jog.

“Going for a walk?” He asked kindly.

Echo gave a of nod in greeting as Lloyd approached them, “What are you up to?” She asked him, careful to not slur her words. She wasn’t sure if Lloyd would be the type to tattle on the two girls for dinking within the Camp borders or not, so she thought it best to not to let it show.

Nat frowned at him,”yeah…I’m not sure what you’re talking about,”she said, tilting her head with a convincingly confused look on her face. If anyone knew Nat, they knew that she was stubborn. And not willing to admit to anything she didn’t want to admit to, especially if being called out. “But it’s nice to see you up and running, and that the whole monster thing hasn’t kicked you down”she said, friendly as ever, and pointedly trying to switch the topic. XD

“Right, right.” Lloyd humored, lifting his hands up in a light but understanding way. The good old topic changer, but he opted to follow it if not to make sure we wasn’t upsetting anyone. “There’s really not much that I could do in that battle compared to others, I like to think my little tooth pick of a weapon helped a bit, but.” He put his hands on his hips and nodded.

“I don’t think this was an accident. I have a sinking feeling that someone was behind this…” He admitted, implying someone in camp with a dissapointed frown.

“One would hope so.” Lloyd sighed softly, before he offered another small smile. “Well, I won’t hold you ladies up. The food’s good today, so don’t miss out!” He nodded, ready to return to his run.

“Bye Lloyd!”Nat let out a small laugh, relieved that he dropped it. She really wasn’t interested in getting into trouble at this time. She kept walking, tucking her hands into her pockets. “I don’t think it’s that obvious,”she said,”I bet I could do a couple of perfect cartwheels like this,”Nat grinned at Echo, only half joking.
