Canary is a loner, stumbling upon Swiftclan by a happen chance. They convince Swiftclan that they share prophetic dreams, cementing them a place within the camp's walls. Cloverspark has their own doubts about this cat though, thinking they are doing more harm than good for the clan they are living in. Canary has to keep up their ruse while Cloverspark is chasing down answers to the truth about them.
Muse A: Canary Muse B: Cloverspark Swiftclan Leader: Goldenstar - Female Goldenstar is a ginger molly with white on her muzzle, paws, and chest. She can be a bit indecisive on her decisions and is quick to find herself trusting those who may not deserve it. Deputy: Cinderspark - Male The brother of Cloverscar, he is almost a carbon copy lookalike to his brother besides the blind eye. All similarities end there though, instead of being calm and collected Cinderspark can be more or less described as hot headed and quick to jump to his own ideas. He is also known to be wishy washy with his opinions, quickly flipping them around depending on the cat who is near him. Medicine Cat: Warriors: Cloverscar- Male A gray tom with green eyes, a scar covering his left eye making him blind. He received this scar after a play fight with one of his littermates went south, so he's had it since kithood. Cloverscar is known to be the more cautious of the warriors, hanging back behind them all and observing instead of outright being the center of the action. He isn't quick to make assumptions about those around him but once he has, it sticks. A lot of cats were shocked when Goldenstar chose Ravenskip over him for deputy, the two being polar opposite in personality. It is unknown whether he holds a grudge over this, though many believe it to be true. {☾ѕησσzє☽ } Apprentices:TBA Queens/kits:TBA Elders:TBA
Cats outside the Clan Canary - Female
Canary is an orange-and-white tabby cat with stripes and mustard-colored eyes, of average height and weight and most cats tend to overlook her. Most of the orange is just on the top of her head, back and tail as her lower body (belly and legs) is mostly white.
Canary is relatively friendly and casual to the point of being charismatic and tends to improvise most of the time. She's more of a jack of all trades, adaptable in most situations but not an expert. One thing she is good at is talking herself in and out of situations, which has saved her butt in more ways than one. Canary is also secretive and likes to dodge questions, not one to give a straight and true answer about her past. One of her faults is that she is a bit of a coward and has some insecurities she needs to work on! {sorethroat } Just gonna start calling these saves LOL

Canary ✧ ✧ ✪ ✧ ✧
When it came down to it, Canary had not expected to get this far and while she kept a confident stride and posture, deep inside she was freaking out. Was she in over her head or about to set herself up for a sweet gig? The loner didn't know the answer to that yet but prayed that it was the latter. It was too late to turn back, too late to take back the words that left her mouth as smooth and quick as water over stone. Who could blame her, when she was hungry and tired and facing three stronger adversaries? The she-cat had always heard rumors about these Clan cats, the ones who banded together and could tear any apart cat that looked at them funny. It just Canary's luck to run into them and find that they were very much real. Somehow though, her luck--or well, her quick-thinking--graced her enough to give her more time to think and more than enough to work with. For all these Clan cats knew, she was here to help them.
Yes, if I play my paw right, I can get through this just fine and there will be a nice piece of mouse waiting for me.
Ahead of her, the one who called herself Goldenstar led the way deeper into Clan land, glancing back to make sure Canary was still there--she was of course; it was hard to go anywhere else but forward with two other cats flanking you. They had been traveling for some time before the leader stopped and announced that they had arrived; by then Canary's paws were ready to give away. Pushing through the gap in a formidable barrier, Canary ducked her head as the four entered a wide clearing where several other cats either lounged about or was doing some sort of activity. Heads were turned as the loner felt several eyes on her fur, some hostile, some curious. It wasn't a pleasant feeling to have so much attention on her to say the least.
Just don't think about them turning on you, ripping their claws into your fur and ending you here and now.
She sucked in a deep breath and ignored them, lifting her head high as she continued on on slightly shaky paws. Stay focused. They came to a halt at the center of camp, where a hollowed-out log sat half-submerged in the dirt. It was then Goldenstar turned to face her companions.
"Keep her here," she directed the two cats that had been flanking Canary--one a brown tabby and the other a young white she-cat--before clambering on top of of the log. The tom merely grunted and sat down, turning his hostile gaze upon Canary, who also sat down. She blinked at him slowly before turning away, yet she still felt his eyes on her. Creeping me out, she thought. The other she-cat seemed restless as she shifted her weight on her paws but at least she didn't regard the loner with such spite. Canary figured she could like this one.
Cats began to gather around the log as well, although they kept a considerable distance away from the loner, some of them taking several glances at her while murmuring among themselves. Queens kept their kits close, elderly cats turned their noses up at her. Above, Goldenstar waited patiently for all to assemble.

Cloverscar had been speaking with another warrior when he saw Goldenstar arrive back to camp. He abandoned his conversation quickly, sizing up the she-cat who was with her. She certainly wasn't familiar to him, making his curiosity pique. Had she been seeking refuge in their walls or was she captured during a border patrol? His first instinct was toe believe the latter, the clan wasn't known to take in extra mouths to feed especially those who appeared as if they could make it on their own. He was about to get up and approach them when Goldenstar made her way to the log, obviously about to explain what was going. He left his friend behind as he approached the center of the crowd, cats shuffling to the side for his slim frame to slip by. Even though he wasn't deputy, cats still seemed to hold him in high regards. He had no time to think over this, settling close to the log now and shifting his gaze upwards to look at the ginger molly before him. He didn't even notice when a smaller ball of fur to come at rest beside him. He would have happily continued not noticing this cat but it seemed as though fate had different plans.
"Do you see that new cat? Who do you think she is?" Whispered the apprentice, he already knew who it was before he glanced over. Daypaw's bright blue eyes were wide open, brimming with uncertainty. He wasn't even this apprentice's mentor yet they clung to his side as though he was. He internally groaned, if Daypaw was here that at least meant everyone else had gathered too, making this meeting start very soon. He preferred to ignore the golden tom beside him but of course, he wouldn't quit his whispering until Cloverscar gave in to this useless gossip.
"I did and I don't know who she is. If you learned to keep your mouth shut more often we might know sooner." He grumbled, not even bothering to turn his head back to Daypaw. He could feel the apprentice's disappointment wafting off his pelt, he was always very open with how he felt, whether it was through voicing it or body language. Sighing, he rested his tail over Daypaw's shoulders in comfort. Why must I play father to this cat while there's more pressing matters at paw?

Canary ✧ ✧ ✪ ✧ ✧
Goldenstar seemed to be satisfied with the amount of cats that had assembled below; she began to raise her voice and speak out loud, her voice ringing through the camp.
"Cats of SwiftClan," she began, "for a while our Clan has been through some difficulties this past leaf-bare, but I come to you today to bring good news. Today Gorsepelt's apprentice Snowpaw fell into the frozen river while hunting on her own--" at this, the white cat ducked her head in embarrassment, her lower body still wet from where she had fallen in "--however she was rescued by an unlikely hero, a loner who happened to be close nearby. Therefore I am allowing this cat to stay within the camp walls for the night as a sign of gratitude."
Canary lifted her head and blinked as the cats assembled began to murmur. Gorsepelt, the brown tabby, snorted but said nothing. It was happening! No more wandering around aimlessly tonight; the loner had food and shelter for now. Saying nothing in response seemed like it would be an error.
"Thank you, Goldenstar." The ginger-and-white she-cat's tail curled around her paws as she spoke slowly. "It is an honor to be treated so nicely after coming all this way."
The ginger cat merely nodded in her direction; she hadn't finished her speech. "Her name is Canary. I expect you all to treat our guest like you would any member of this Clan: with respect and hospitality. Snowpaw will show her to where she will be sleeping. In the meantime, I would like to see some of my warriors and the medicine cat in my den for a meeting after eating their meals. Gorsepelt, Cinderspark, and Cloverscar, I trust you the most, so I expect you to be there." She paused and scanned the assembly of cats for a moment. "That is all I have to say; this meeting is over. Enjoy your meals."
Lowering herself down the log, the Clan leader padded across the camp, glancing at Canary once before leaving. Canary could have sworn she saw a glimmer of hope in the ginger cat's eyes but didn't know what to do with that...yet. It was strange to her that the leader didn't even go into detail about what else happened at the river. Oh well. Gorsepelt gave his apprentice a small nudge before departing himself and soon it was just the loner and Snowpaw who remained. Snowpaw was staring at her--which was rude for one--with so much intensity that it confused Canary for a moment.

He wasn't taken back by the leader's mention of his name. It was common practice at this point he would be involved more in the clan's inside workings. Though, he wasn't too pleased to be working beside his brother this time around. Getting up, he left Daypaw to the other warriors, hoping he would have some mercy on them and not chat their ears off like he had been doing so the past few sunrises. He knew he had to eat before meeting the leader but his appetite had left as soon as the newcomer had arrived inside the camp. Speaking of the newcomer, he quickly jerked his head to look at her once more. He couldn't get a solid read on her just yet, her face gave nothing away. He could go and speak with her but that would only draw questions to him, why was he questioning the new cat when Goldenstar had already welcomed her? When she saved the life of another cat? A sigh escaped his mouth as he went to where Goldenstar was, not wanting to waste any time. As he approached her, he was stopped by Cinderspark, eyes wide as he turned to look at Canary.
"Did you hear about her? She saved Snowpaw. That's the actions of a true warriors. Do you think she'd want to join us forever?" His brother whispered, tilting his head down low so the cats around them couldn't hear. Cloverscar gave a scoff at this idea, it wasn't just the actions of a warrior to save someone. Especially if that someone was of Snowpaw's size. Sure she was an apprentice, but she didn't appear to look as big as the warriors just yet. A simple thank you and offering of prey would suffice, not letting some...stranger into their camp walls. An uneasy feeling was settling inside his stomach though he couldn't place where it was coming from. Just ignore it for now, we will find out soon enough why this she-cat is truly here if not for her saving.
"Will you stop talking and listen for once in your life? We can figure out all we need to know from Goldenstar. If you aren't going to eat then follow me and we can speak to her." His brother seemed put back by his shutdown of the questioning, along with a mixture of anger at being told off by a warrior. If that was how he felt, he said nothing. Still trying to control his anger, at least towards Cloverspark. It was his fault the tom before him had a blind eye after all. Cloverspark didn't wait for a reply, picking up his pace to meet Goldenstar.
{I wasn't sure if you wanted me to control Snowpaw or not xD I can if you'd like during the meeting}

Canary still felt eyes on her fur, nothing unusual now, but this time it was different. Her eyes caught a movement of gray, he head turning to see a grey tom cat approaching her. Uneasy, Canary stood up, not sure what to do. Goldenstar had said that she expected her cats to be respectful to her, but would they really?
She would have to find out later, as another gray tom, almost identical to the other, intercepted the first one's path. They began to speak to one another and Canary tried to strain her ears forward and listen--
"Hi!" A fuzzy white face with bright blue eyes suddenly thrust itself into Canary's face, taking her aback. She nearly wrinkled her nose in dismay to see it was Snowpaw, the cat she rescued. The apprentice's tail was curled in excitement. her forelegs splayed apart as if she was hoping the loner would play with her. "I just want to say thank you for rescuing me, I couldn't believe that you knew all along. I could have been in StarClan by now and it almost felt like I was already there for a second so anyways I would love to show you around the camp, it you'd let me because Goldenstar asked me to and it's an honor to do so--"
"How about you show me later?" Canary suggested gently. Snowpaw was so full of energy that Canary was afraid the white she-cat would not stop talking--she would go on forever if she could. Still, seeing the little cat look at her with admiration made Canary feel...pleasant. She never had someone so eager to speak to her.
Snowpaw seemed to wilt at the sound of this. "But...but Goldenstar said..."
"I know what she said," Canary turned her head away so she could not see the young cat's face grow even sadder, "and I know you wouldn't dream of not doing your special job for her, but your leader might want me at the meeting as well. Tell you what--" she looked at Snowpaw's now hopeful face "--you can show me after I come back. It won't be long I'm sure."
"O-oh, well, okay then." The apprentice nodded her head and shuffled backwards. "I'll see you then!"
Canary gave her a curt nod of the head before turning and looking around. Now where had the Clan leader gone? Canary would rather not actually attend the meeting--she wasn't even sure she was invited--but something told her that she needed to be there in order to convince Goldenstar that she was right to let her stay for the night. She saw Gorsepelt from afar where he was heading to where his leader had run off to as well as the the two gray twins heading in that direction.
That must be the place.
Trailing after, she made her way over as well.
(Oh sorry I was just leaving her there and didn't want to drag the entire post on xD. do you want to do the med cat or should I? Also I fixed my icon. EDIT: fixed the text color too because that might be hard on the eyes.)

The tom noted that Canary was joining them, perfect. He tried to slink away from his brother towards her but his brother quickly wrapped his tail over his back. He scoffed again and fell in beside him, approaching the leader. He would have a chance eventually to figure out what her intentions were truly. He would go along with the leader's opinion until he found out from the cat now behind him. He looked back with his one good eye. She looked unassuming, everything about her was so...regular. She didn't look like a threat to the clan, he could easily take her on in a fight he was sure. Then what? She had to have something to bring to their clan if Goldenstar was going to welcome her with open paws.
"Hurry up, Cloverscar. You were the one who wanted to get to this meeting so quickly." He moved his head back to look at Cinderspark, the tom giving him a quizzical look. He refrained from a bitter remark, picking up his speed. It seemed Cinderspark wasn't done teasing him though, matter of fact he stopped him and whispered in his ear. "You catching feelings for the newcomer?" He gave a small chuckle at his own little joke, walking once more. Cloverscar didn't even bother with a reply, it wasn't worth it. Why in the name of Starclan would he catch feelings for a cat he's never met? Especially since that cat wasn't even a true member of Swiftclan.
Finally, they met with Goldenstar and he moved himself away to sit beside Gorsepelt and the new cat, Canary was her name right? He made sure she was on the side where he could see her. He wanted to gauge her reaction while the leader spoke.
{Up to you still! (: If you want we can have a med cat and app? Also love your Canary thing <3 it's prettyyy}

They must be brothers, Canary decided after watching how the two toms behaved. Sitting there she was keenly aware that he was looking at her but what could she do about it? She sneaked a quick glance back at him from the corner of her eye and then looked around the den, pretending as if she hadn't been aware of him. He was quite handsome that was for sure and the scar over his eye caught her interest. I wonder how he got that? That would mean he's a formidable fighter at least if he's still around. Canary herself was not a fighter of renown; she had recent scars that finally healed over from a moon ago. If a fight ever came down in this den, in this camp, she wouldn't make it.
A small brown tabby she-cat with eager yellow eyes around Snowpaw's age suddenly bounded into the den, followed behind by a black she-cat who was considerably older. The tabby looked around and sat down next to Cinderspark. "Sorry we're late!" she chirped. "You know how Harefoot is with his ticks."
"Ah, Glowpaw and Yarrowleaf, I was going to have one of my warriors send for you." Goldenstar sighed. "You're just in time; we have things to discuss."
It was beginning to be a bit crowded in the tiny den; Canary almost wished she hadn't come. Her mind was racing like a frightened hare as the cats were gathered together. Once things got started, she would need to do all in her power to be as convincing as she could.
"Good, everyone is here then?" Goldenstar drew herself up and sat tall, clearly one for dramatics. "I have no doubt that you are all wondering why I've called you here and don't worry, it isn't bad. At least--" the ginger cat cleared her throat "--I hope it isn't. Out of all the Clan I trust you the most to speak about this, as I don't want to announce this to the Clan as a whole quite yet. As I said before during the Clan meeting, our Clan has suffered a harsh leaf-bare; cats didn't make it during the illness and we're still recovering from those loss--"
A voice cut in gruffly: "The loner says she can see what will happen in her dreams."
Goldenstar and Canary looked quickly in Gorsepelt's direction, Goldenstar's face scrunched up in annoyance and Canary didn't blame her. The warrior shrugged and didn't look remorseful.
"You were taking too long to get to the point," he mewed. With the lie out in the open, Canary sucked in her breath and hoped the cats bought it.
(I just threw them in if that's okay: Glowpaw and Yarrowleaf. And thank you! I quite like your Cloverscar too. )

He had been listening so intently to the leader, he didn't notice when Gorsepelt took over, the two voices morphing together as one even though they sounded nothing similar. His ears went back against his head at this new revelation. He had never heard of a cat being able to tell the future from dreams besides the medicine cats. Now some loner claimed she could see the future of their clan by just sleeping? He gave her another long look with his good eye, trying to read her face once more. It gave away nothing to him, making a bit of anger bubble up inside. This would prove itself to be more difficult than he originally thought. Maybe he should ask questions, it would certainly help ease his mind. Before he even had a chance though, Cinderspark was jumping in.
"You can see the future? That's so cool! Did you see me as deputy?" He purred, puffing out his chest. Cloverscar groaned aloud, drawing attention to him as he threw his head back. It was much like Cinderspark to jump into a boasting and feeling more special than he truly was. When he felt eyes turn on him, he sheepishly fixed his head, clearing his throat.
"What I think Cinderspark meant was, this sounds quiet like a kit's tall tale. Did you know anything about any of us before arriving here? Did any cats show themselves to you in these dreams?"
"That's not wh-" His brother didn't get to finish as Cloverscar turned shot him a glare. He might be a mouse-brain but he at least knew better than to intrude on his brother's plans. He turned back to Canary, awaiting her answer with the upmost patience. It wouldn't give him a definite answer to his suspicions but it would at least clear up some of the animosity to her.

Canary’s eyes narrowed and she scoffed as if she were offended, though in reality it made her uncomfortable. Of course not all of them were going to buy it from the start. That’s why she was there to convince them otherwise. “Kit’s tall tale,” huh? I can do better than a kit.
Goldenstar waved her tail upon seeing Canary’s expression.
“Do not take it personally. I want to believe you but Cloverscar raises a good point. You said that you did when we met, but did you really?”
“Of course I have! I...” The loner looked at Cloverscar directly this time. “I saw your cats,” she said slowly while gesturing to both Gorsepelt and Goldenstar with her paw, “the two of you and that white one. Snowpaw, right? I saw her the most. My dreams told me that she was in danger. So I came all this way to find out how to stop her and when I saw her on the frozen river, I knew I was there.” Confidently she turned her attention to all of the cats in the crowded den. “If no one had been there in time, she wouldn’t be here any longer.”
Speaking, she could remember quite clearly how the events had gone: Canary hunched over a scrawny mouse, stiff and wary as she spotted the white she-cat dashing confidently across the ice, not noticing the cracks forming at her weight until it was too late. Maybe she had been too caught up with the excitement of chasing an outsider away to be aware for she only faltered and skidded to a halt when Canary—realizing the ice was about to give way—began to advance towards her instead of turning tail and running away. Either way, when the ice broke under the apprentice’s paws, Canary had been close enough to drag her out before she had been fully submerged.
It had not been an event destined by dreams but an event of pure coincidence. If Snowpaw hasn’t seen Canary across from the river, she probably wouldn’t have ran across and broke the ice. Who knows?
“I have these dreams very often in fact,” the loner continued, on a roll as she resumed to direct her words at the skeptic tom near her. “I remember once, when I was younger, I dreamed about a gray tom who was very important and stood next to his shadow. I didn’t understand it until I came here.” That should sound cryptic enough, Canary mused. And hopefully more convincing.

His own face remained unreadable as he stared at her. It all seemed too perfect for his taste but for the time being he would have to settle with her words. Her message of a gray cat standing in the shadows certainly piqued his interest, flashing his one good eye at Cinderspark. The two were one of the few gray cats in the clan and certainly the only super close ones. He would have to wait and learn more as time passed but for now he brought himself to his paws.
"I think I've heard enough about her prophetic dreams, Goldenstar. Now a few last questions remain, will she be sleeping in the warriors den? Taking on a warrior name? Fighting and hunting alongside us?" Cinderspark shifted uncomfortably behind him, obviously feeling a bit bitter at the fact he hadn't asked those same questions. It doesn't matter who ask, brother, just that they are answered. We have no clue how well her fighting or hunting abilities are, should she take on the roll of a warrior or apprentice? He was about to let the leader answer when a thought hit him, making him step forward and lash his tail behind him.
"I think, in all due respect, Canary should take on the name of a 'paw. If she already knows to hunt and fight then there's still more that can be taught to her about the clan life. I know most of our warriors are busy with their own apprentices so I offer myself to teach her." He looked back to the orange and white molly, an innocent smile playing on his muzzle. He could use this to his advantage, get to know her better.

"Stay?" Scoffed Gorsepelt, shaking his head. "All because she saw the future and saved one foolish apprentice from drowning?"
Canary turned to him, "Well I--"
"Gorsepelt, that was your apprentice who was almost at death's den," Goldernstar interrupted Canary before she could continue her rebuttal. Her face had turned into a hard frown. "Have some respect for Snowpaw and be glad that she isn't here to hear you. Now, Cloverscar proposes a good idea. Canary has dreamt about this Clan frequently; if she stays here, we'll have access to more prophetic dreams and with something like that, I can steer this Clan through better times. I can do with another voice helping me."
"You don't need another voice to help you," Gorsepelt growled. "You just need the confidence to make decisions on your own."
Canary's ears twitched at this. She rose to her paws and coughed loudly to get everyone's attention.
"No offense," she mewed, "but I think have a say if I stay or not. The offer sounds nice and I can't imagine leaving this Clan when they need my help. This...StarClan must have wanted me to be here with my gifts. So, I'll stay for now." She paused and shook her head. "But I'm not changing my name to Canarypaw."
Joining the Clan would be nice, she supposed, and it was hard not to see the benefits of it. Scrapping around for a meal while avoiding danger was hard enough alone; these cats certainly had more food to go around and Goldenstar seemed so eager to reward her for what she had done. The offer for her to actually join the Clan permanently was almost mouth watering. But Canary didn't like the idea of taking on a "warrior name" or adding "-paw" to her name. Or fighting. If she could avoid that...Furthermore the tom suggesting it didn't seem to just be suggesting it for no reason. Canary could not gauge Cloverscar's reaction and perhaps that was for the best; he seemed to have bought her story. So she didn't know what to make of his offer to teach her. The prospect of training with Cloverscar was debatable, but the loner could work this to her advantage if she thought hard enough. Who knows, maybe spending more time with the tom could make it easier to make up dreams.
This was certainly a lot nicer than how Canary used to live--she just needed a few amendments to make it even better.

The tom watched all of this with unreadable eyes, letting the two fight it out for the time being but when Canary mentioned not taking a paw name, his fur went up ever so slightly. He wasn't exactly comfortable with her not fully taking on the life of a warrior but it wouldn't be right for him to argue right now. He had his own plan set up, he couldn't let it fall apart before he even gets the chance to begin it. He looked from Canary to Goldenstar, trying to maintain his posture.
"I still believe it would be best for you, Canary, to take on the life of an apprentice during your stay with us. You see how Gorsepelt is reacting, I feel it would ease everyone's worry if you did more for the clan than just give us the words of Starclan." He spotted a few of his clanmates milling about near the edge of the meeting, wanting to hear what was going on surely. He knew this was still quiet foolish of him, accepting her with open paws but it would be better than just sending her off if she was truly Starclan sent. "Goldenstar, excuse me for speaking out of turn but you have to see reason in this, right? Not to offend anyone but I also believe the clan would be more welcoming if she was under my training, I'm a respected warrior of the clan. They trust my judgement a good deal, I think, and if I'm showing a welcome to her then the others will have little to argue with.."

Despite Canary's hopes, Goldenstar seemed to be considering Cloverscar's proposal. The ginger cat was nodding her head in agreement.
"That sounds like a good idea," she meowed. "That is why I value your wisdom, Cloverscar." To Canary, she looked at her almost pleadingly. "Do you understand where we are coming from? When we met at the river today, you said you wanted to stay and help our Clan. The only way you can is by doing this. Taking up a Clan name is important to us; it's a sign that every cat here is committed to taking up for the Clan's well being as a whole."
These cats' customs were...strange. Apprenticeship? "Paw"? Canary wanted to say that keeping her loner name as is was important to her too, but it would be like talking to a tree for all it mattered. It wouldn't be a bad thing if what this Cloverscar cat said was true. Holding on to the claim of prophetic dreams alone might not be enough to sway the Clan. She needed him to train her even if she wasn't fond of the idea and being uncooperative would just cause problems if the Clan found out that she resisted assimilating. If this was the way then the loner had no choice!
She endured the strong urge to exhale and instead gave out a friendly purr. "Very well; I will respect your wishes. I can see it is important to you, so I will make a sacrifice and give up my name. After all, it's a small price to pay for the greater good. From now on I will be called Canarypaw."
But it will never ever be my true name no matter what they call me.
Goldenstar seemed immensely pleased; she nodded her head in Canary's direction. Gorsepelt merely snorted and turned his head away, but he made no comment. It seemed that nothing Canary could do would sway this one.
"Then it is settled," Goldenstar said, addressing the all of the cats gathered now, "The loner will be staying and lending her paws to help the Clan; she will be training under Cloverscar until she can be trusted as a full warrior of SwiftClan. I will be expecting you to help the medicine cats and I by telling us whatever dreams you have in the future," she said to Canary before returning back to everyone else. "If anyone is in disagreement, you're free to speak out and say your piece. If not, this meeting is adjourned and I will break the news to the rest of the Clan and conduct the ceremony immediately."
She received no protest from Gorsepelt or Glowpaw. Canary kept her silence.

Yarrowleaf said nothing, instead he picked himself up and took his leave back to his own den. Cloverscar watched the medicine cat go before turning back to Canary. He hadn't asked her to give up the name beyond the first round of words he had given yet she still did it. It was certainly promising for him but he didn't want to keep his hopes up too high for the she-cat. She was already proving herself to be more of a challenge to him and in all honesty, it brought a spark into the warrior's belly. He loved a good challenge, it would keep his mind off the idea of Cinderspark being deputy. He shook his head no to Goldenstar and made his way back over to Canary, letting his good eye meet hers.
"You will become a fine warrior underneath me, I promise. If you decide to leave after you've fulfilled your duty to Starclan, you will at least leave with more training than you came with." His voice was loud, making sure Goldenstar heard. Not because he sought her approval but due to the fact he desired the leader to hear that there was an if. He certainly didn't see her staying around permanently, the clan couldn't handle an outsider among their ranks. No matter how hard she tried to prove herself he was sure she would fail to become a great warrior like the rest. The clan had never seen an outside cat rise in the ranks to their full warrior name and he didn't see that changing anytime soon for them.
Cinderspark stood up himself, purring to his brother. "Glad to see you're warming up to everything, Cloverscar." He teased, still holding onto the beliefs that the tom had his own crush on her. Cloverscar gave no reply though, still staring at Canary with an unreadable look. He wasn't going to let her leave his sight, it sounded half crazed but until he knew her well enough she would be his first priority, protecting the clan against anything would always be that. She wasn't some rogue or loner they had stumbled upon after all. Her intentions still remained unclear.

✧ ✧ ✪ ✧ ✧ "Oh really? A fine warrior?" The corners of Canary's muzzle turned into a half-smirk, half-genuine-smile. There was no doubt from his words that he wasn't simply offering to train her because he wanted her to do well. There had to be something going on under his polite demeanor, some sort of underlying motive that mirrored her own. What was this tom's game? Canary found herself wanting to play it, just to see what scheme he had up his pelt to counter hers. Meanwhile, Glowpaw seemed to be in a daze, scrambling onto his paws and running after the other medicine cat in a hurry. Goldenstar's ears twitched when Cloverscar spoke, perhaps signalling that she had heard him loud and clear before she too exited the den.
"I'm sure you'll be keeping a very close eye on me," Canary meowed, tilting her head to one side ever so slightly, "but don't worry, I'm smart enough; whatever is thrown at me, I'm sure I'll learn to overcome." She swept past him and his brother to leave the den, before pausing to glance back. "With how StarClan is, I don't think I'll be leaving for a long while. See you around, you two."
With those final words lingering in the air, the loner slipped out of the den. After the lengthy meetings, cats who had positioned themselves near the den to eavesdrop were shuffling awkwardly away, pretending as if they hadn't been snooping around. Some took the risk and cast uncertain glances at the group leaving Goldenstar's den. Behind her, Canary heard Gorsepelt mutter something loudly, perhaps purposefully so she could hear him.
"Make sure you train that loner hard, Cloverscar," he said. "We don't want her thinking she's welcome to get fat and lazy here, StarClan's hallowed prophet or not."
Ahead, Goldenstar was making her way back to the log, leaping nimbly on top and pacing her way forward until she was at her previous spot. She yowled, but it was unnecessary as most cats were already making their way to there. Canary stood at the edge of the assembly this time, waiting. It was time for the rest of the Clan to know about her.
Goldenstar scanned the cats gathered below before she opened her jaws. "SwiftClan, I know it is getting late, so we will make this quick. Our Clan will be welcoming a new member into its ranks: the loner that rescued Snowpaw has convinced me that she has had dreams of the future. These dreams involve our Clan's future." Ignoring the murmurs of surprise, the leader continued on. "I've spoken to my trusted warriors and medicine cats and we have decided to take her into our Clan as an apprentice and teach her our ways, in hopes that in return she will continue to share her dreams with us."
(If I'm not leaving enough room for responses please let me know and I'll cut it down!)

He was quick to awake before everyone else, letting the morning birds chirping ahead be his wake up call. He stretched out in his nest, trying to ease the aching in his bones. I thought only elders felt this way when the air grew cold. He thought bitterly, noting the air had a chill to it. He brought himself to his paws and left the den, scanning the clearing for Canary. She had to still be asleep, having taken a nest in the medicine cat's den for the time being. So much for fitting in with the rest of the cats in the clan. He gave a soft grumble to himself before making his way to the den.
Morning dew was covering the grass as he made his away across the stretch of camp, tickling his paws with each step. It's going to be a long day ahead. The skies may be clear finally but the air brings a horrible biting coldness us. He wasn't looking forward to training the new cat, at least a new apprentice would know the clan's code and some form of hunting or fighting from them. She would most likely be useless in both, knowing nothing more than whatever a loner or rogue was taught. He squeezed his way into the den at last, relishing in the somewhat warmer air inside.
"Canary, wake up. It's time for us to head out and begin your training." He whispered to her sleeping body, careful to wake the sleeping medicine cats. He wasn't exactly in the mood for an earful from Yarrowleaf. They would have his tail if he woke them up,
{I hope its okay I placed her in the medicine cat's den, if not I can change my reply (: } '

Snowpaw had shown her eagerly around camp before guiding her to the medicine cat den to sleep, which was a relief after Canary realize that she would be the eldest of the apprentices by several seasons. It would have humiliated the loner if the Clan had made her to sleep in the apprentice den where cats barely out of kitten hood slept. At least here there was another older cat, even if the den smelled a bit strange and the cats who lived in it asked too many questions about StarClan for Canary to answer, although it gave her some more information on what to work with. These cats to Canary’s surprise also could receive dreams from StarClan, or so they claimed, which made the loner uncertain if it was true. They did say however that it had been a long time since their ancestors had shown them anything, much to Canary’s satisfaction. Any sign that StarClan was speaking to them these days had to be taken seriously.
Upon hearing Cloverscar’s voice, Canary stubbornly nestled herself deeper into her moss bedding as if it would shelter herself from him. One eye slowly opened to fix itself on the warrior speaking to her. A part of Canary wanted to just fall back to sleep; nobody said anything about having to get up at who knows how early in the morning. She had had such a nice dream too, of the non-prophetic type.
“Fine, fine,” the loner sniffed eventually, before adding ”and it’s Canarypaw, remember?” in reference to Goldenstar’s insistence in naming her as such. The loner knew she couldn’t do what she wanted; it would be bad to cause a scene in front of the sleeping medicine cats who would give her an earful later. Instead Canary finally relented and rolled out of her nest, stretching her body and legs before shaking her pelt of any clinging moss debris.
“And how do I know you’re not waking me because you’re hoping I already had a dream that tells your future?” She teased him while purring quietly at her own humor, before padding past the tom and being careful not to tread on the sleeping medicine cats. Outside the sky was clear for once and tempted Canary to make some claim to that, but she weighed against it. It wasn’t as if she could wake up in the morning and declare, “Haha! The weather is sunny, I foresaw that in my dream.” Things like that would make the Clan catch on fast.
She turned her head back to the medicine cat den and waited for Cloverscar to reappear and lead the way to wherever the Clan did their training. What Gorsepelt said last night made her curious to see if the gray tom would truly train her hard.
Is he going to do it in hopes that I run off like some terrified apprentice? I hope he knows that loners are a lot more sturdier than that.
(Don’t worry that’s more than fine. I was thinking the same place. EDIT: Oh and I was thinking that at some point during training Canary will say something about her past/dreams that will be easily contradicted later on. Is it okay that I said that the medicine cats haven’t received signs from StarClan lately? ad-libbing)

A bitter remark was playing on his tongue at her joke about him coming for his own future to be told. In his own personal opinion, he would like to remain in the unknown on that. She was quick to make her leave of the den at least, not arguing much about the time he had brought her awake. Already doing better than Sandspring did when I trained her at least, this might turn out easier than I had hoped. He took his own sweet time in following her, walking at a leisurely pace.. When he finally arose from the den, he made his way past her to take the lead. The two would walk in silence until he took her to the first training spot. Normally, he would start with showing an apprentice the territory but he didn't want to bother with that today. Canarypaw would learn it another time. Today, he wanted to see how well her fighting was. Assess if she proves herself to be a threat to the clan. He would never voice this concern aloud, he knew it would only bring cause of concern and worries for those around him. Finally, they had reached the clearing where soft sand was sprayed about after the training given the day before. He quickly turned back to her, eyes narrowed into slits.
"Today we will be testing out your fighting skills, I hope you know at least the basics and don't go flailing about like some loners do." He mused, adjusting himself into a position that would help him hold his ground. "I want you to attack at me, show me what loners are made of."
{Both of those are fine, it would certainly help further the need of her if they couldn't reach Starclan}

✧ ✧ ✪ ✧ ✧ Cloverscar's next words nearly took her by surprise, although in hindsight she should have seen it coming.
"Oh, 'fighting skills'? Well, you see, I'm more of a pacifist, so...you know..." Canary's voice trailed off and she sighed. "Okay."
She took several steps away from the tom to give herself some time to think before acting. There were "basics"? Inwardly Canary was baffled. For all her life, the idea that there was something more than biting and clawing and arching your back threateningly was alien. What more could you learn? A lot more from how Cloverscar was talking. Canary knew how to fight a bit, but that was that, and certainly nothing more advanced than a typical cat's understanding. A cat instinctively knew they had claws on both paws and teeth to dole out massive damage. So, she knew enough to get by--just barely, as her recent memory reminded her. Grudgingly, the loner had to admit to herself that she wouldn't be an exemplary example for loners everywhere, but there was still the chance of not coming out of this session looking like a floundering kit.
She got a good distance away from him now and turned around, her muscles tensed as she built up energy, back arching slightly as she readied herself to charge. Her eyes narrowed. The loner let loose the building tension in her muscles, her back legs propelling her forward as she made a dash towards her opponent before springing, aiming to collide against Cloverscar and knock him over.

There was no hint of amusement on his face as she tried to pass herself off as a pacifist. He knew very well that would end a cat's life quickly in the wild, she had to know some moves even if they had no names for her. He kept himself still as he watched her move backwards, knowing full well what she was going to attempt. Once she launched herself at him, he moved himself to the side and reached his paw up, hooking it around the back of her leg and making her trip. He gave a warm purr though, ignoring that he had bested her. "Is that all you got? I thought cats outside our clan were to be feared." He teased, letting his own tension melt away. She was harmless to him, maybe not for a younger warrior but he had seen his fair share of battles and perfected his fighting skills to the best of his own ability. "Try again, this time don't move so far back from me when you jump, it gives me too much time to think." He hinted, moving back once more and firmly planting his paws in the ground.

✧ ✧ ✪ ✧ ✧ Crying out in surprise when Cloverscar knocked the paws from underneath her, Canary found herself tumbling onto the ground with a mouthful of dust and legs splayed in different directions. Immediately Canary wanted to stay down and not get up. Still, Canary urged herself to get up quickly, knowing that the longer she stayed down the dumber she looked, and she dared not give in to her desire to stay down. Getting half-way into standing up, she heard Cloverscar say something teasingly in her direction.
Oh, now he wants to laugh and joke around? Throwing the tom her own unamused look, Canary continued to cough and splutter out dust.
"Well maybe I'm different than the ones you're supposed to be fearing!" she replied in a mildly exasperated tone, once her mouth was free of most of the grit. After spending the previous day boasting to total strangers about her powerful, prophetic dreams and ending up somehow gaining the respect of this Clan's leader, falling around in the dirt was humiliating. She had warned him that she wasn't a fighter, didn't she?
Well, she thought, taking solace in this, at least he's joking around too. She had to shake off the trip and keep going.
This time, as soon as she was on her paws, she twisted around as quickly as she could and lunged for the warrior's closet shoulder, preparing herself to kick at his flanks with her back legs once she found a firm grip on him.
(Sorry for the absence! I had a lot of essays I needed to get done and it was taking up a lot of my time these past few days. I'll be a lot more active again now, hope you are doing well.)

She had made contact with his shoulder, kicking him square in the flank with it. He rolled to his side, quick to get away despite the pain. He was back on his paws just as fast as he was on falling over. She certainly knew something fighting wise but was still no match for a more skilled warrior. She would pose a challenge for an apprentice at least, guess it right of me to think she would need more training. "Very good, Canarypaw, you know the very basics of fighting." He was trying to refrain from being rude to her, she didn't deserve his scathing words. He shook the dust free from his fur and circled around her.
"Though I'm beginning to think, if I want to know the full skills you possess I might need to put you up against an apprentice. Perhaps they would be more on your level, no offense." He finally sat himself down in front of her. "I was going to give you some more training in this area but now my curiosity lies with your hunting skills. You see, Swiftclan hunts a certain way and I'd be ashamed to know an apprentice of mine doesn't know how to hunt like one of the warriors."
{You're fine, I get it! I've been a bit busy myself but doing well. Freckle, our cat, has made a full recovery which is a great thing but also he's back to his normal antics. My curtains will never be the same now lol }
