kells I'm curious as to why you dislike Leafpool and Squirrelflight, I'm not a huge fan of theirs either, but it seems like mostly everyone just adores them. I think I've only seen one other person not like Squirrelflight. Leafpool was just... boring throughout TNP. And once it seemed like the Erins finally thought to give her some kind of action, she just went downhill. Leaving her Clan in a time they needed her the most to run away with Crowfeather was already out of the blue and annoying, but when she found out she was expecting, she tried to get Squirrelflight to cover for her instead of working out some other method of keeping the secret or coming clean in the first place. Then, for the rest of series she cant seem to exist for a book without the narration going into detail about how she lied about her kits...etc,etc and just moped. It was just exasperating to read. As for Squirrelflight, my hatred has declined greatly after the later books, but I still don't like her. She was just too annoying to read in TNP, and there was just never anything that could make me like her again afterward.

Spottedleaf had an impact on her decision to leave, seemingly encouraging her to 'follow her heart.' It was easily misinterpreted. Leafpool never forced the kits on Squirrelflight. I've been rereading some of the novella's, Leafpool's wish was certainly boring and pointless, but proves my point. It was Yellowfang who abused her position in Starclan and lied to Squirrelflight about her infertility. Leafpool never directly says anything to Squirrelflight to make her feel that she has to commit to the kits. In fairness, I didn't find her POV particularly interesting during TNP either, and CrowLeaf certainly felt rushed/forced.

kellsI agree about Leafpool going downhill since she met Crowfeather. That's not the reason I dislike her though, I don't like her because of how she treated Jayfeather in The Power of Three, and how she put Cinderheart's feelings above his, and above the good of the clans. I know that Jayfeather isn't the nicest of cats, but he is her child. I don't like Jayfeather by the way, he is one of my least favorite characters, but I really don't like the way Leafpool treated him there. As for Squirrelflight, she was super annoying as an apprentice, and I'm honestly tired of her constantly being in the spotlight, you know?
