I've considered nanowrimo a few times but november is just such an inconvenient month with school and everything (and also I'm lazy lol)
I just recently heard about nanowrimo camp though and I've been going back and forth on whether or not to do it. Have you/ are you going to?

Wow, I really envy your work ethic!! My university has finals in November so I probably won't be able to attempt nanowrimo until I graduate (which is still a tragically long way away). I might make this story a camp nanowrimo project in a sense. Or at the very least I'm going to make an effort to write every day (hopefully that lasts longer than I'm expecting it to lol)

haha, it's not a work ethic so much as a stubborn sense of "someone told me this was a bad idea, but i'm already fueled by chocolate milk and ready to prove them wrong." it's apparently the only way i get anything really truly done. but yeah, i have december finals, so november is a pretty decent time for it if i really push at it. but yes! camp nano is a great way to get fic done and get used to a work ethic that suits you! also, pro tip: if you don't write every day, don't sweat it. sometimes, it just doesn't work. yes, you should give it a shot, but keep it up too long and you'll burn out. it's okay to rest a day or two and pull yourself back together.
ALSO, i super recommend a site called pacemaker.press for tracking word counts. the official nano sites will track word counts for you, but pacemaker lets you set a goal (number of words/pages/chapters/etc) and set the time frame in which you want to accomplish the goal, along with some other features. it's really handy, and worth fiddling around with.

hey, whatever works! stubbornness makes the world go 'round. (maybe I should find someone to tell me it's a bad idea and try it for myself lol) But yeah, the burning out fear is part of why I haven't done nanowrimo. But the way I wanna spend summer is more of a "write every day even if it's just one sentence" than a "write x amount of words every day" just to get in the habit, ya know?
wow, that is actually amazing, I can't believe I've never heard of it. gonna have to add that to my writerly tool belt

not too shabby tues c; that's like a whole novel. is it all one project or just total with everything you're working on?

I know how you feel, it's so hard to focus on one thing at a time. and if you're being productive, who cares how you're doing it?
ahh htmf, the fic at the top of my WFF tbr pile (and has been for like a year I'm so bad about keeping up with reading what I want on here jeez) I've heard lots of good things. actually, maybe I'll read it this Sunday - I've got a long car ride and a tablet, so that'll work perfectly & ooh, what fandom?

exactly. i'm not under contract or anything, so i can bop around as i please, writing whatever fits.
no rush! it's happy to hang out and sit, since it's not going anywhere soon. c: if you read it this weekend, i hope you like it! like i said, it's my pride and joy.
voltron: legendary defender. the fandom is honestly atrocious, but the show itself makes me happy, and i love the characters, so i volunteered to write an au for a big bang project. when i finish my fic, and artist will draw a scene of it, and all the fics will go public in september or so. it's a big undertaking, but it's been fun so far. i'm doing a haunted house au.

wow, that sounds really cool. group projects are always interesting, at least seeing how they turn out with so many differing opinions and ideas
just got back from a grad party that I was at three hours longer than planned. socializing is exhausting lol. time to get writing (and hopefully make a decision about the BBFC)

thanks, I'm probably gonna need it cx
I think I'm leaning towards doing it, I just need a cohesive idea (which I would need soon enough that I could plan AND write all 31 in a month hehe)

I'll take all the inspiration I can get! If I do BBFC I would want all of the stories to be connected but also not all one story, so I'm trying to figure out a way to make that work (and also trying to come up with a plot yikes)
kind of off-topic, but do you listen to music when you write? I'm looking for some good fight scene inspiration music lol

you could always scatter them. they could be separate time lines. alternate timelines, even. a series of choices? i dunno, run wild with it. c: there are no extra points for connections or the lack thereof.
[SLAM DUNKS INTO THE ROOM] BOY HOWDY DO I HAVE YOU COVERED.
basically anything two steps from hell is delightful as fight music, particularly if you're writing something fantasy-geared. if you're into pokemon, the battle themes from any major character/any legendary pokemon also have some solid pep to them. woodkid's "run boy run" and "conquest of spaces" are regular favorites of mine, and i love "i don't know why" off imagine dragon's new album, evolve. granted, stuff with lyrics can make it tough to write sometimes, so again, back to pokemon and two steps from hell since they don't have lyrics. oh, and vitamin string quartet can be nice since you may recognize the song, but you don't have the lyrics to mess with the writing process. and soundtracks across the board tend to be very helpful. try going through soundtracks for movies or games that have lots of fight scenes or a few tense showdowns, and often, they'll have something to suit what you're looking for.

omg pokemon battle themes you're a GENIUS (also I just listened to run boy run and love it so off to a great start recommendation wise) soundtracks are a good idea too, I've never though of that. imagine dragons is one of my go-to's too I don't mind lyrics too much, but sometimes I'll listen to songs in languages I don't speak if I'm looking for less distraction. and once and a while a good screamo song is just unintelligible enough to be considered instrumental haha

I'd say run boy run is more of a chase scene song than a fight scene song but it definitely works either way. helps that there's not toooo many lyrics.
I haven't heard all of it yet, mostly because quite a few of the new songs aren't on youtube yet and I'm too broke to pay for the album lol. Believer is a good action-y song. Generally speaking though I think walking the wire is my favorite of what I've heard. hbu?

there are some lyric videos on youtube but they all have the sound taken out because of copyright issues. but yeah I've yet to hear a bad song by them in general tbh. I didn't like Thunder at first but it definitely grew on me. *googles i don't know why since I haven't heard that one yet*
hey it's after midnight, I suspect the WFF may get a little bit crazier

It's only been a week, hopefully more will be up soon. Or maybe I'm just not looking hard enough Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
So this might be a weird question but do you ever wish that you were participating instead of judging?

yeah, a bit of a win-lose scenario I guess? I don't think I would be a very good judge, I'd be too subjective lol. kudos to you for keeping up with it.

I had a really bad allergic reaction last night (to what I haven't the slightest clue) and now my whole body is covered in painful hives. yaaaaaay
not sure if it's a sign that I shouldn't put too much on my plate or the universe saying "here, now you have a reason to lay around and write all day long"

Thanks c: I slept most of the day so I feel slightly less like I've been beaten with a baseball bat lol but yeah, I've pretty much decided I'm going to give BBFC a shot, it just might take me a few days to get into it since I still don't have an idea
