Heatherpool was right in assuming that the information was hard for Ebonywhisker to focus on right now; but he was at least trying to give attention to what she was telling him. After all, he was certain he would be performing duties within a day or two, so he needed to pay attention. Messing up and making mistakes was the worst way to get this alliance started, so he tried to focus in on the words she was saying. Nevertheless, it was tough with the weight upon his heart right now.
He took in the appearance of each den as they moved gradually by each one, turning this way and that to catch sight of each one. His gaze lingered on the warrior's den for a fair amount of time, wondering if warriors were in there at this hour already. Though it certainly wasn't empty, he saw less cats lingering around than he would have expected for a Shadowclan cat's reception. If only one thing stuck in his mind, it would be the warrior's den, since that is where he was supposed to sleep.
He also caught a couple pairs of eyes peering from the apprentice's den as he followed behind Heatherpool, but they seemed to duck in and disappear as his gaze found them prying. I guess I would be curious, too. He almost shrugged, but kept it to himself and turned back to Heatherpool as she began to exit the camp. Sighing quietly to himself, he began following her to the outside.
He prepared for the more difficult part of learning his new home--the greater territory. At least Heatherpool seemed to understand the difficulty of learning an entire territory and was only showing him some of it. He was thankful for that.
They were out of camp a short time before the cat opened his mouth and truly spoke up for the first time. His voice betrayed his uncertainty and his anxiety. "Do you think she is going to come around to this? Brookstar said that she agreed to this arrangement, but...she sure didn't sound...happy with this. She barely even..." He trailed off, realizing he was jumping into expressing his concerns with this cat, forgetting the fact that vulnerability could get him hurt in this place. He cast his gaze away from the cat in front of him, gazing off to the side absently.

Finchstar - accompanied by Silverstar - - river border - [brambleflight ] It seemed to be a daily occurrence, battling at the border over "StarClan" and Silverstar's outrageous thought that NightClan was the only clan meant to be standing. Finchstar found it ridiculous; whoever came up with this prophecy was out of their mind. StarClan abandoned AlderClan and NightClan when they truly needed them. To him, they were no longer a part of their world. StarClan chose to abandon them for seasons without a single omen or prophecy, but now? They suddenly show up and decide that one clan must remain after all this time? Their ancestors were spewing lies and he wasn't going to take it any longer. We were doing perfectly fine before StarClan decided to shake things up!Another skirmish, another battle, and another war. The black and white leader stood at the rear of his patrol which flew into a clash when a NightClan warrior swiped at an AlderClan warrior. The tom yowled as he made way for the nearest NightClan warrior, who was at the neck of Feathernose. Before he could assist the young cat, Silverstar was charging towards him. "StarClan doesn't stand with any of us!" he hissed at his rival, blue eyes gleaming furiously. "You've been tricked, NightClan!"As Silverstar lunged forward, the tom threw himself at her with all of his weight. This was a battle his clan needed to win and come out of it without any casualties. Finchstar felt her claws rake part of his muzzle before he went to dig his fangs into her shoulder. He let out a low growl, eyes blazing with animosity. He kept his claws unsheathed and prepared to deal a hard blow to the muscular she-cat's side. image credited to Pixabay - (CC0 license)

Finchstar - accompanied by Silverstar - - river border - [brambleflight ] The yowls of pain confirmed that Finchstar's attacks were successful. He felt blood drip from his muzzle as Silverstar put distance between the two of them. He let out a scoff at her words and rolled his blue eyes. "You think we're the blood to sweep over the forest?" he howled. "All you have done is brought injury and death to AlderClan! NightClan is the blood that needs to sweep over the forest!" In his mind, NightClan was the unfaithful clan; they chose to rely on StarClan, who had been silent for seasons and take their word as if it was everything. Why rely on supposed ancestors that came up with fake prophecies and omens? "You're a bloodthirsty leader, Silverstar," he snarled, watching the fluffy feline intently as she stalked around him. "To think you lead a clan of warriors? You're leading a group of murderers!"The tom let out a cry when she landed atop of him, causing him to reach the edge of the riverbank. He could feel the pebbles and muddy ground underneath his paws and he struggled to grasp something-- anything. He felt her claws sink into him and the black and white tom let out a yelped. He pushed what was left of his weight on to Silverstar, hoping he could bowl her over and take control of the altercation. image credited to Pixabay - (CC0 license)

Ebonywhisker didn't look the least bit reassured by Heatherpool's response to him. If her heart isn't in it...then what is the point? If Honeylight never really wanted to be with him, then...
Well, he shouldn't be too surprised. He could barely find a cat who wanted to be around him in his own clan, so why was he expecting anything different after moving to a completely other clan? He sighed quietly and reminded himself that he needed to stop being a complete mouse-brain and expecting something he didn't deserve.
He frowned as Heatherpool continued speaking though, pointing out that it wasn't just her not thrilled with the arrangement. The warrior pointed out that she was struggling with the prospect, but Ebonywhisker found it difficult to feel a lot of empathy when she still got to keep her family and clanmates close by her. Not to mention that, but despite moving away from his clan, he was willing to try to get to know her right away, at the behest of his mother. There was a lot that Ebonywhisker wanted to say in response to Heatherpool, but after cycling through various rebukes in his head, he bit down hard on his tongue, lowering his gaze from her's as he continued walking. He wasn't in a good place to already stir up a hostile disagreement. Right. I have to keep my thoughts to myself. It's good that I didn't say anything more than I did.

( Stealthfire Sounds good ^^ ) Silverstar - River Border - w/ Sand 's Finchstar Silverstar sunk her claws into the tom as her attack connected. Too focused on fighting and unaware of how close to the water's edge they were, she pushed forward with her attack, fully intending to make the AlderClan leader regret his words about her clan. Despite being thin, the tom was a lot of weight to bear when locked in such close contact. Not wanting to be overpowered but also knowing she couldn't overpower him, she went sideways, with the intent to bring him down with her. However, Silverstar severely miscalculated her move.
With a hearty splash, the silver pointed she-cat went sideways into the rushing river. Panic doused her rage and instead of clawing at Finchstar to attack, she found herself claw at the leader in a futile effort to pull herself out of the river's current. A gargled yowl of panic escaped the NightClan leader as she felt her claws graze against Finchstar before his form too fell out of her grasp. Disoriented by the water, she didn't see what had become of her enemy. Instead, she became focused on her fight to keep her head above the current. Vaguely she was aware of the panicked voices coming from the river's bank but was unable to distinguish them.
As more water flooded into her system, the more difficult it became for the flailing leader to fight against the current that was drawing her ever closer to the gushing waterfall at the territories end. "Silverstar!!" yowled a familiar voice from the sidelines. Her head turned tiredly to make out the shape of Ryelight, the warrior balancing uneasily on a large tree root by the bank as she tried to reach out to pluck her leader from the water. Silverstar attempted to reach out for her clan-mate and felt the warrior's teeth graze her outstretched leg before she swept under the water. This time the leader wasn't able to fight it. Blackness filled her vision and she became limp as the river pulled her away from her clan.

Foxpounce ;; Meeting Spot - Territories Edge ;; Sweetshadow ;; brambleflight ;;
Glancing back at his clanmates, all of which padded nervously up the slope, Foxpounce felt a heightened sense of protectiveness. He had stood before Breezestar the night before and begged his leader to stay and fight so that at least they could say they tried. It was hard to shake the disappointment in Breezestar's gaze as he told his deputy not to be so foolish and that going to battle would be causing unnecessary deaths. "We'll move somewhere safe where we can live like normal clans once again. We will not be fighting a war tomorrow, and I'd expect my deputy to support my decision." What more could Foxpounce do but grit his teeth and bow his head? Admittedly he could be hot-headed but he was certainly loyal to his clan and to his leader.
The morning chill as well the never-ending ocean breeze ruffled the toms fur, hiding the fact that his neck fur bristled apprehensively. Staring down, Dapplesong was struggling to encourage her two kits to walk sensibly. Maplekit and Bouncekit practically rolled over themselves in excitement at the thought of the adventure, too young to truly understand the severity of the situation. A quick quip from their father Birchfrost - too far for Foxpounce to hear - made the two kits stop in their tracks, then continue pointedly. Gingerleaf padded with shadowed eyes, only having just recently mourned the death of her mate Quillclaw. The elder had taken a lot of convincing to leave the camp which had been her home for seasons and the place where her deceased mate was buried. "What if we go somewhere and StarClan doesn't follow? What if I die on the journey?" Finding the right words to comfort her left Foxpounce bowing his head, leaving Riverstripe to convince the elderly she-cat that the clan needed her guidance and wisdom, and that StarClan would be with them so long as they believed it.
Reaching the top of the slope, Foxpounce caught side the other clan, they congregated atop the sand-dunes that bordered the territories just like the leaders decided. "I don't want to be traveling with their stink in my nose," Foxpounce muttered. Beside him, Sundapple's throat rumbled with an amused purr. "I'm sure they don't want to be traveling with an irritable cat like you," whilst her words may have been harsh, her tone was joking and affectionate. She bumped his shoulder with her own and Foxpounce rolled his eyes.
Reaching the other clan, Breezestar stepped forward to Burnetstar and dipped his delicate black head; Foxpounce padded forward to stand beside his leader. "Thank you for waiting, Burnetstar. We had a short delay but are ready to leave now." Breezestar lifted his chin and flicked his tail to Foxpounce, "Foxpounce here has a travel plan, if you agree, I think we should do as he suggests." It was an honor to have Breezestar put his faith in Foxpounce's idea, and hearing the leader reinforce this gave Foxpounce the confidence he needed to step forward and stand tall.
"I believe we should travel along the coastline. It will mean that the territory should be familiar and we shouldn't struggle too much to hunt for prey on the journey. The coastline will also be a good guide so that we don't end up walking in circles or getting lost." Finishing up, Foxpounce stepped back and looked to Breezestar who gave a small nod. Secretly, Foxpounce also hoped that one day they might be able to follow the coastline back to their old home and reclaim their territories, but he didn't want to suggest that in front of his leader who had already given his opinion. He saw Sweetshadow near her leader and had to hold his tongue to prevent himself from letting out an exaggerated sigh. If I keep my distance than I can only hope I won't have to talk to her on this journey.

Heatherpool - RiverClan Territory - w/ Shadowkit 's Ebonywhisker Heatherpool looked over at Ebonywhisker, expecting the tom to continue the conversation. However, just as quickly as he opened up he shut back down again. A sigh escaped the she-cat as she watched him lower his gaze and merely continue walking. She knew it wasn't her job to make friends with him or even do more than provide basic guarding but she did wish to make him feel a little more at ease and less like he was surrounded by enemies. Perhaps she could be his first friend within RiverClan. Deciding to try, she slowed her pace to walk at his side rather that a few steps ahead of him.
"Look, all I'm trying to say is to give it time. This isn't an arrangement for love, it's one for peace. Sooo maybe the love part can come later. She might come around, it could just take some time. This is all so new to both of you. You can't judge anyone on the first day." she meowed with a shrug, finally speaking with a bit more casualness and less formality. In truth, Heatherpool didn't know what to expect from Honeylight. The leader's daughter was often a proud and irritable cat. Surely she wouldn't easily bend. But that didn't mean it was impossible. She had already accepted the arrangement after all and that was a step forward in itself.
"Also, quit holding your tongue so much. I'm not going to claw your ears out for having a voice." she sighed, flicking the tom's side with her tail to get her point across. "I may be your guard right now but we're going to be clanmates someday. I'd like us to at least start on the right paw... even if things aren't ideal right now."

Finchstar - accompanied by Silverstar - - river border - [brambleflight ] With her attack connecting with his body, Finchstar let out a painful howl. When she continued to push forward, he did his best to push back, but the newly created wounds were oozing. He felt Silverstar go sideways suddenly which stunned the AlderClan leader. The abrupt feeling of a cold burst of water sloshing against his pelt send chills up his spine. Was he in water? Had he fallen into the river? For a moment, he felt pebbles beneath his paws and he scrambled to grab them with his hind legs, but the current was too strongHe was being swept away by the rushing river and the sound of a gargled yowl brought him back to his senses. Silverstar had fallen in too! The black and white tom's head bobbed up and down in the water, noticing a pair of warriors from AlderClan dashing towards the riverbank. "Help!" he called, his head plunging back into the water again. Finchstar couldn't see anything anymore but crashing waves and his pelt growing heavy. He was thin which was an advantage against the current, but his swimming skills were not. He wasn't going to make it without losing a life. He could hear muffled yowls and shrieks underneath the ripples until his head bobbed up yet again. Right alongside the riverbank was Ryelight, a NightClan warrior who was trying to help their leader. He could see the form of his deputy, Whiteriver, who was trying to find a way into the river. Don't! It's not worth it! I'm not worth your life, Whiteriver! he thought, unable to screech. Panic began to cause his heart to beat rapidly and he felt water filling his lungs. The current grew stronger by the seconds and soon enough, he was swept away. Blackness washed the AlderClan leader away, he was no longer bobbing up and down in the river. His thin yet muscular body was yanked away as it sent him downstream and he was not far from Silverstar's limp form. image credited to Pixabay - (CC0 license)

Sweetshadow - Territory's Edge - w/ aether 's Foxpounce "Well it seems like they made it just in time then." Burnetstar commented, twitching his whiskers in amusement at his deputy's impatience. The older tom moved to greet Breezestar as the black tom lead his clan over to them. He dipped his head to him in a respectful manner while Sweetshadow reluctantly joined at her leader's side. Her gaze drifted over to Foxpounce as Breezestar addressed that the tom had an idea. She bit back a snort and looked over at the other deputy with a dull gaze, clearly not expecting much from his plan. As she listened to him explain his choice of route, she found herself slightly annoyed as the plan was similar to one she had discussed with Burnetstar.
"Was coming up with that obvious plan what delayed you so long?" she muttered at Foxpounce, unable to hold back the taunt as she wished Burnetstar had spoken about their idea first. The plan may not have been that obvious but it did get under her pelt that they unknowingly shared similar plans for the path of travel. Of all the cats of EmberClan, Foxpounce still held the title of her least favorite. They had only met a pawful of times, usually at the gatherings and a couple border patrols, and so far she had never had a pleasant experience. She didn't expect this journey to be any different.
Her taunting was short lived though as Burnetstar lashed his tail against her side in a silent warning. "I believe what my deputy means is that we have discussed a similar path of traveling up the coastline." he meowed with an apologetic gaze to Breezestar. As usual, the large tom was looking to keep tempers down and avoid any infighting. Tension would be high enough without the deputies fighting. "I believe Foxpounce has the right idea to go about this. Especially since it'll be a difficult journey for our elders and kits."
Sweetshadow, now tuning back into the task at hand, nodded her head in agreement with her leader. As displeased as she was for her clan to be mingling with EmberClan, she needed to focus on getting to their new territory. "Yes. Which is why they should all travel at the center where they'll be protected by the warriors around them." she mused with less attitude and more seriousness as she looked over at the EmberClan leader.
Burnetstar nodded his head approvingly and looked to Breezestar. "I was thinking that you and I can the pace at the front, the warriors and apprentices can fill in all the sides, and our deputies can take up the rear. And of course the medicine cats will move around as needed."

Ebonywhisker was a little surprised as Heatherpool slowed down and took the initiative to make sure her point got to him in the way she wanted it to be, rather than the way he had taken it. He was surprised because the cat was putting time into explaining herself so he understood what she was saying rather than just dropping it and leaving the distance cold between them. At least, it seemed like she was trying to close the distance, if just a little bit.
"I guess I...misunderstand what you were saying," He responded diplomatically, careful not to shift the blame onto her. "You aren't wrong about that. She isn't going to be doe-eyed for me tomorrow. No one could." He chuckled darkly, simultaneously paying respect to her point and downplaying his own value. And, she was right. This had been an arrangement for peace. For survival. Padding into this expecting something romantic to spring from it immediately was...naive at best.
He pulled a breath in through his nostrils as Heatherpool told him to use his voice. It was a dangerous suggestion and one that he knew could get him into deep trouble with the wrong cat. It could be an attempt to infiltrate his deeper thoughts, and it could be a genuine effort to close the distance he had from these Riverclan cats, at least between the prisoner and the guard. At the least, hearing her use the word 'guard' was something; escort, guardian, it all sounded so superfluous and like they were dancing around the fox's nest. Turning his gaze to meet her's as she flicked his pelt with her tail, Ebonywhisker cleared his throat quietly.
"Very well then. Starting on the right paw sounds like a good idea for everyone involved." He acknowledged what she said again as a good thought. If she was just trying to get close to him to extract what she could from the tom, she was saying the right thing, and more important, in the right way: non-hostile, intelligent, and careful. "Then if you claw my ears out, we're going to have an issue." A smile flashed across his face for a brief moment as he returned his gaze to the path ahead of them, but it was gone before more than a second had passed. He was trying to be humorous for the sake of lightening the air between them, but his heart couldn't keep itself on the jovial feeling for long.
He cleared his throat again, looking more awkward this time. "What do I need to know about this part of the territory, then?" It was a quiet question, as he tried to refocus on the task at paw.

Silverstar - Shore - w/ Sand 's Finchstar Silverstar lifted her head eying the starry forest around her. It wasn't difficult for her to recognize where she was. It was StarClan. I must be losing a life, the leader thought with dismay. Vaguely she recalled the incident at the river and a shiver run down her spine as she realized how quiet the forest around her felt. Usually there was a cat there to greet her. At least, there had been the other two times she had lost a life. This time the forest was empty though and the silver pointed leader worried that perhaps, she had lost all of her remaining lives to the river.
Just as she was beginning to feel fear the shadow of a cat darted past. Her blue eyes grew wide as she recognized her mother, Icewind. However, the starry tabby didn't address her daughter, instead continuing to bound further into the forest. "Mother! Hey! Wait!" Silverstar desperately called out before racing after her. No matter how fast she ran the StarClan she-cat always seemed to be out of reach. Silverstar stumbled into a puddle and hurried to collect herself off the ground. However, with horror she realized that the puddle had not been made of water. Her white coat felt thickly covered and as she looked down she realized that she had fallen into a puddle of blood. Her heart raced at the sight and she took a step back to get out of it. However, the puddle only grew, absorbing her paws into it once more.
She stepped back faster this time but only managed to stumble into yet another puddle. Looking around with panic, she watched as the blood began to accumulate even more, covering the forest floor in a ominous red blanket. There was no escape from it! "You must stop this from happening, Silverstar." Icewind reappeared in front of her now. The starry she-cat floated right above the bloodied ground, gazing piercingly at her daughter. "I know! I'm trying! That's why I must get back to my clan! I must stop AlderClan!" Silverstar panted as she felt the level of blood quickly rising around her. Icewind frowned at her daughter's determined words and watched as Silverstar began to struggle to keep her head above the forest of blood while she remained untouched above it. "Blood is on the horizon, bound to drown the forest. The clans must fall but one must remain." Icewind repeated the prophecy to her before touching her nose to Silverstar's right before she was pulled under the red liquid.
****
With a gasp, Silverstar woke. The leader hacked to purge the water that she had swallowed from the river, coughing out a good portion of it before finally getting a chance to breath. Her body felt weak and cold, her drenched fur clinging to her body in an uncomfortable fashion. The normally muscular and fluffy she-cat now looked small due to the smoothed out fur. Finally taking a moment to look around, she realized with a bit of horror that she was in an unfamiliar place. Just how far did that river take me.. She wondered with a prickle of fear at being alone and far from her clan. Although, she soon realized only half of that was true.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something stirring on the shore besides her. Turning to look, the she-cat's eyes widened slightly as she recognized the also drenched lump that was Finchstar. Suddenly much more eager to get back on her paws, she unstably rose up, taking on a defensive position. "Well isn't this just great." she growled. "Stuck who knows where with you of all cats!"

Ebonywhisker appreciated her acknowledging his joke, but didn't say anything more as they redirected back to the objective they had for being out on the territory. He listened with a little more attention than he was expecting. He blinked at her as she mentioned it was a good spot for beginners to learn to fish. "Oh, yeah. I...I wasn't thinking about that. I have to learn that, I guess." He was half mumbling to himself as he spoke, but his gaze was still on her. He continued to follow her as they approached the stream, and found himself interested as she explained that twolegs even lost stuff to the stream. "T-they...have monsters for the water...?!?" he sounded a little bit alarmed, thinking of crossing the stream and a monster charging at him like he were on a Thunderpath.
Heatherpool seemed to predict accurately that Ebonywhisker would find her behavior strange as she started pressing at the object. Watching her as she explained what the Riverclan cats liked to do, he nodded slowly, still wondering why they found the objects so interesting. Nonetheless, it wasn't that big of a deal; what was the harm in it? "That's definitely unique. I mean, I guess it will just float eternally otherwise." He shrugged and accepted it.

Foxpounce ;; Meeting Spot - Territories Edge ;; Sweetshadow ;; brambleflight ;;
It seemed impossible for anyone else to aggravate Foxpounce much more than Sweetshadow did. Who decided to give you the name 'Sweet' when you'll the opposite! He thought harshly when all she had to offer was a harsh response to his plan. "You have no idea-!" He started, stepping forward with his shoulder fur bristling. Luckily, Breezestar was quick to step in, moving in front of the hot-tempered tom and slapping his tail over his deputies mouth. The glare that Foxpounce received from his leader was one he got a lot: 'don't you dare start a quarrel here, mouse-brain!'
"Yes," Breezestar meowed politely, a sharp contrast compared to his chosen deputy. He continued to nod as Burnetstar and Sweetshadow spoke about their plans for travel, and when Foxpounce opened his reply to quip nastily to Sweetshadow he was cut off by his leader once more. "Excellent. We will leave now." Breezestar turned heel to face his clan, all of whom stared at him with wide, anxious eyes. The information was relayed to the clans and they fell into formation, merging awkwardly into the cats of BlazeClan. Foxpounce caught sight of Maplekit and Bouncekit bounding eagerly towards two BlazeClan kits, followed quickly by an exhausted Dapplesong. Spottedwing ducked her head to murmur uneasily to her mate, Kestrelswoop, and he gave her a comforting lick over her ear. The cats started moving stiffly, the clans still keeping to designated sides despite traveling in the one group.
Why in StarClan do I have to be next to her, Foxpounce eyed Sweetshadow as the cats began moving. As the last warrior fell into place, Foxpounce moved forward and started padding behind the group. He was more than aware of Sweetshadow's looming presence beside him. He almost made it a few moments in with silence, until he looked at her with a snarl. "Why do you have to be so rude? You could easily keep your mouth shut but instead you just make comments no one asks for!" He hissed.

Heatherpool - RiverClan Territory - w/ Shadowkit 's Ebonywhisker Heatherpool shrugged her shoulders and shifted the strange object around for a moment longer, clearly debating if she liked it enough to take back to camp. In the end, she decided the object wasn't very appealing as it was more dull than shiny. Turning her focus back over to Ebonywhsiker she gave a small smile. "But don't worry too much about the monsters. There are very few of them and they usually only come out during greenleaf with the twolegs. Plus they almost always stick to the lake. The streams are too small for them to fit in and they can't move on land." she explained after noticing his alarm about the monsters.
Moving away from the bank and back on track of the task, she glanced around as she considered what else to show him. "I suppose we'll just head out to the lake and then begin our trip back to camp." she mused, mainly to herself though. Picking up her pace slightly, Heatherpool lead the way to where the stream connected to the lake and slowed down once more to stop at the water's shore. Looking out over the lake and other territory, she gave a small shiver as a cold breeze drifted by. "There's not much to go over here but I figured I'd show you RiverClan's view of the lake and territories." she explained as she looked over her shoulder at Ebonywhisker. "We can turn back soon and collect a bit of moss for your nest on the way back to camp."
Sweetshadow - Territory's Edge - w/ aether 's Foxpounce Sweetshadow gave a lash of her tail as Burnetstar explained where the various ranks would be amongst the large group of travelers. Needless to say she was more than displeased to learn that she'd be stuck at the very back of the group with Foxpounce. Her nose wrinkled at the thought of being stuck next to him the entire trip, especially when neither clan knew exactly how long said trip would be. Silently her gaze drifted over her clanmates. She watched as the clan kept their distance from most EmberClan cats. Grayhawk eyed them with distrust before he took up a spot next to Hickorygaze, quickly focusing on helping the elder. Aspenpaw stood a little taller as she padded next to her mentor Alderclaw, trying to keep her gaze focus despite casting a couple curious glances towards the EmberClan apprentices. The only ones who seemed even remotely excited about this were the kits. The deputy twitched her whiskers in subtle amusement as Tallkit and Blackkit jumped around with the two Emberclan kits before getting pulled away by Trillecho who gaze apologetically at Dapplesong.
With the rest of the clan in order, the deputy moved to take up the rear, trying to ignore the less than pleasant company she found herself besides. Couldn't they have put him somewhere else? Sweetshadow thought dryly. She walked with her gaze trained ahead and was attempting to travel in silence but that clearly wasn't going to work. As Foxpounce turned to her with a snarl, the deputy pinned her ears back and glared at the orange tabby besides her. "Oh please! You're one to talk about comments no one asked for." she hissed back, glaring at the other deputy. "Why don't you put your own words into practice and keep your mouth shut? It'd certainly make this trip a lot easier."

Ebonywhisker gave a sigh of relief as the Riverclan warrior explained that these monsters only seemed to come out in greenleaf, and that they couldn't move on land and didn't even really go through the stream anyways. "Thank Starclan. Crossing the Thunderpath is enough to worry about." Now that he would probably be crossing the stream plenty, he didn't need more to worry about than learning how to handle the water.
The Shadowclan warrior followed along as Heatherpool continued taking them through this part of the territory. He gave a quick nod as she simply explained that she wanted to give him a view of the territory. At least she wants me to get a look for things, so I can start to get a grasp on it. He tried not to turn his gaze in the direction of his own territory; it felt almost like a crime to even glance in its direction now that he was trapped here.
"I'll have to spend a lot of time learning everything, I imagine," He quietly mused to himself. He had his work clawed out for him, and he didn't think that every cat was going to be willing to at least get him some help to get started as Heatherpool was. He sighed quietly, wondering how in Starclan he was going to manage this.
"Should we find some moss, then?" He queried the warrior, looking around them cluelessly as he wondered where in the heck moss would be on their side of the border. Of course, Shadowclan cats had already been making themselves known across the border since the fighting began, but he had made a point of not doing this himself and thus had no sense of what would be growing where in their territory.

Finchstar - accompanied by Silverstar - - river border - [brambleflight ] Unlike Silverstar, Finchstar didn't find himself in StarClan. He was in a deep pit, swarmed by dark black water. He could hear the sounds of water lapping at the edges and his limp body floating calmly. His eyes were open, though he couldn't see much besides the dark water. The serenity of the situation was odd and mystifying to him as the water began sloshing around him. The current grew strong and choppy, sending his body back and forth while the waves rained down on him. Why can't I see anything? he thought, feeling the waves toss him aside. The black and white tom slipped underneath the current yet again as he struggled to pull his head above the water. He couldn't speak or move but he could feel and see everything. Shadows of cats began to appear at the riverbank, those matching his deputy and a fellow warrior. He wished to howl for help, but it was useless. Nothing was coming to him and soon enough, the waves enveloped him and shoved the leader effortlessly to the shore. Not a word was spoken to him nor a sign was shown. Finchstar didn't know what his so-called meant and he wasn't willing to figure it out. - - - Gasping and choking for air, a pair of blue eyes shot open. The AlderClan leader spewed water out that he too had swallowed when he drowned. He finally came to a stop as he struggled to move on the rocky shore, his pelt sopping wet and fur sticking to his thin frame. The territory around him didn't look a bit familiar. He could hear a river crashing and roaring behind him, but he didn't hear the howls of his clanmates. Where am I? This isn't anywhere close to the border, he thought, glancing around with bleary eyes. Unfortunately, the sound of a familiar voice startled Finchstar. It was no one other than Silverstar, his rival. He couldn't believe it; there was no one else around but them. Two enemies, left to the elements and far from home. The bi-colored tom rolled his eyes before slowly getting to his paws. He barred his fangs and growled back, trying to unsheathe his claws despite his fur being drenched. "Me? How about you?" he hissed. "I didn't ask to be pulled into the river and sent downstream! I have no clue where I am and it's all thanks to you, Silverstar."image credited to Pixabay - (CC0 license)

Heatherpool - RiverClan Territory - w/ Shadowkit 's Ebonywhisker Heatherpool gave a long stretch as she took a moment to enjoy the spot they were currently at. While it may have been a good spot for Ebonywhisker to get a feel for the territory, it was also a spot that she simply enjoyed. With the open view of the lake and land, it was peaceful. However, it was a bit more cold that she appreciated due to the season so she had no qualms with the ShadowClan cat's readiness to move on. She nodded her head as he inquired about the moss.
"Yes, let's go grab some moss." she agreed with a small nod. Straightening her posture, she moved to lead the way back, only this time she strayed further away from the stream and closer towards the territory that laid to the east of camp near where the moors began. The warrior didn't lead them too far though and soon stopped by one of the few trees in the territory. The cream colored she-cat padded over to the large roots that dug into the ground and glanced around before finding a patch of moss.
"This is where we usually get our moss since it's close to the camp but there are a couple other spots in the territory." she explained as she went to work collecting enough of it for a nest. Once she had a sizeable ball, she carefully picked it up in her jaws. "Alright, now we can get back to camp." she meowed then gave him a curious gaze. "Think you have an idea of which direction it's in?"
Silverstar - Shore - w/ Sand 's Finchstar Silverstar curled her lip at Finchstar as he rose to his paws. Despite the fact that both of their clans were far away, the NightClan leader didn't feel any less anger towards her rival and certainly didn't trust that he wouldn't try to attack. However, the weariness she felt made her secretly hope that Finchstar didn't have plans to pick up where they had left off. "Oh yes because take a trip down that cursed river to end up alone with you was my plan from the start!" she scoffed, lashing her tail in frustration at his words.
"Mouse-brain." She spat. Silently, the leader was a bit relieved that she had taken the tom down with her. At least now both clans were missing their leader, making things even between them. I'm sure Raccoonwhisker will be able to handle things until I get back... She thought, having quite a bit of faith in her younger deputy. The silver pointed she-cat was beginning to feel less and less inclined to start another skirmish with her rival and began to focus more on the bigger issue at hand, which was figure out how to get home. Silverstar glared distrustingly at Finchstar and took a step away from him. "Now then, if you don't mind leaving me alone, I'm going to figure out how to get back to my clan." she growled warningly.
She turned her head away to take in her surroundings but always kept the black and white tom in the corner of her eyes. Silverstar didn't trust him in the slightest but her desire to get back home outweighed that enough to at least focus on the path she needed to take. The river had disoriented her but she knew that it would be a helpful guide in getting her back to NightClan. If I just travel up stream, I should make it back.. She thought with a twitch of her tail tip. The only worrying question that lingered in the back of her mind was, just how long would the travel take?

Ebonywhisker tried to help as much as he could as the warrior was collecting the moss, trying to colleft some himself when they found the moss-infested area. He went out of his way to collect some himself in an attempt to keep Heatherpool from feeling like she was serving the needs of some Shadowclan stray. He certainly didn't have as much, but he carried some amount of moss as the warrior finished picking the moss herself.
As Heatherpool asked whether he knew the direction or not, he turned with certainty towards where the clan was. Even though he didn't know with any certainty where parts of the territory was, he had no doubt where the camp was, and he prepared to lead the way as she asked him to. "Yeah. I know the way back." He spoke to her with certainty. certainty, beginning to follow the path back to the Riverclan camp. "I assume you...didn't have to get this moss for me?" He quietly asked the warrior beside him as they headed back. "I should have gotten it all myself."

Ebonywhisker felt his own curiosity piquing as the she-cat began telling him that, well...she didn’t have to help him. She didn’t have to do anything for him. Yet, despite that, here she was, telling him that she was interested in trying to do more for him than she needed to.
He found himself, without meaning to, smiling a little to himself. It was a strange thing to hear, some cat saying that....that she wanted to make an effort to make his time a little easier. His gaze was lingering on her for longer than he meant for it to, which might have contradicted what he began to say. “Well, you really shouldn’t. Your clan isn’t going to like that, and I’m sure I will have to take care of myself while I’m here.” He murmured quietly, trying to smother his smile and keep his gaze on the ground in front of him.
He gulped and fixated on his paws moving in front of him, pawstep by pawstep. “Its not your responsibility to make my welcome better.” Ebonywhisker began adopting a lower-volume murmur. “You’ll probably just make your clanmates think less about you if you do that.” He grimaced for a while, struggling to say this. He was being honest, not holding back how he really felt as he said this. He had bought it, the story that she wanted to treat him nicely. And now, he was trying to convince her that she shouldn’t give him the time of day.
