I think it’s because if people have to go into a 2 week quarantine, they can’t leave their home. So they hoard toilet paper to last them long enough. Just a guess. who needs 5 packs of toilet paper for two weeks!! I wish I knew, but I'm gonna just say paranoia.

unofficial word is that administration is gonna cancel in-person classes and switch to online for the indefinite future depending on how the outbreak goes.
a friend predicted that they'll cancel the whole semester and i just realized how horrible that would be for me. i have a really close-knit group of friends, and if we're all sent home, i won't see most of them until august. my boyfriend got a summer internship in the same city as me but he'd go home to california till then. i don't have any friends at home. swing club and the performance team are my passion and i wouldn't have that.
like man. its gonna suck really bad. i'll be so lonely.

Hey everyone, Californian here. I live in an area that a lot of people travel to, so we have a lot of domestic and foreign tourists. There have been quite a few cases in my general area. Four new cases were announced in my county and there is someone in my city who was diagnosed about a week ago. That all said, I am not particularly concerned right now. I feel like that's just my brain not wanting to deal with it so it just goes "eehhh let's not think about this right now." That isn't great, obviously, but I'm happy people are becoming more aware of hygiene and basic health practices. of course, people should already be washing their hands and covering their mouths when they're sneezing, but better late than never?
We have a large Chinese-American population here, and I'm really worried about them. Chinatown relies on tourism and currently a lot of small businesses there are suffering. There have been reports of racist comments and such, which is just awful. My friend (whose family is from Singapore) said her mom went into a grocery store and people were constantly avoiding her. There are a bunch of little things like that, but they're not little when put together. Luckily there are efforts to support more local Asian businesses, but that won't stop the microaggressions. Guess I just hope people stop being idiots.
I don't know, guess I just needed to rant for a bit. Luckily toilet paper is still readily available here, I think hand sanitizer and masks are the only things in short supply. On a slightly funny note, a friend of a friend saw a woman on the bus wearing a mask... but it didn't cover her nose. Don't know how that is supposed to do anything. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

is anyone else constantly misreading covid-19 as corvid-19 Honestly I spelled it Corvid for a while until I saw it was covid as far as diseases go I thought Corvid made it sound way cooler but that might just be because I love crowsI’m so glad I’m not the only one who was pronouncing it wrong. To be honest, I’m going to keep doing so.

As of yesterday, my school decided to go to two weeks online after spring break (which is next week). But I wouldn’t be surprised if that gets changed soon since there’s a confirmed case of the Coronavirus in my city now.

My school never actually cancels, they just postpone until later. "Later" as in use break days to make up school. So if my school gets closed because of this, we probably won't have a summer vacation at all, since it's already so short.

The main thing I've noticed here is people buying way more soap and hand sanitizer than usual (went into Walmart awhile back for some and they were out of a lot of them) and I've seen people with masks here and there but other than that I haven't really seen too much of an effect here. (I'm in Florida)

Who the hell steals toilet paper? My sister's school is cancelled for 3 weeks and I'm trying to find a route to bring her home or send someone to go get her and bring her home. Airlines and their flight prices ://

Target and Walgreens have both put limits on how much toilet paper and hand sanitizer a customer can buy at a time. I don't know if that's just in the stores near me or whatever, but that's something I guess.
but I can't help imagining someone wearing different disguises every time just so they can hoard toilet paper

This virus is crazy... people need to start taking it seriously... regardless of like if it is a "worse flu" its death rate has skyrocketed in like no time at all... Yes, the flu has killed more, but the flu has been around a lot longer and has a vaccine. this is literally about to cause so much panic. I am worried people in my state are going to riot because our Walmarts are starting to run out of everything.

welp, all of my classes are online for the rest of the semester. everyone living on campus has to leave, and all the on-campus labs are closing. so that means the game art and computer anim majors just got royally hecked over. i'm in game art, so it seems like the faculty has to drastically change the curriculum because we don't have any of the sophisticated software and tech for it anymore. :/

God, there's so many things I want to rant about, but I can't without exposing to the internet exactly where I live.
Long story short, I'm getting the hell out of this place because if I'm on lockdown for six weeks, I would like to be on lockdown with my cats instead of 100 miles away from my cats.

That's wayyy better than my theory, where I thought people made full mummy suits out of toilet paper to protect against germs or something.

Some stuff is starting to be affected where I live. I'm not sure about any schools or anything, because I don't know anyone who goes to school. But my sister just sent me a picture, of a sign outside her work, that says that if someone has a cough, fever, etc, or they've traveled in the past 14 days, or had contact with someone with Covid-19, to go back to their car, and call a number for further instructions. She does work in a nursing home though, so that's highly understandable.
Also, they're putting a limit on how much hand sanitizer and stuff you can get.
