So, I notice people often talk about certain cats getting the short end of the stick from StarClan or being especially favored by them, so I thought it would be interesting if we could make a list of which cats were in this sort of scenario. Here's mine, feel free to add your own. This is not the same as which cats have the most lucky or unlucky lives, since StarClan doesn't just have absolute power. It also doesn't mean I don't like the "favored" characters or vice versa, just observing how they are treated in the books.
Favored by StarClan:
Bramblestar - StarClan specifically intervenes to make him deputy despite probably knowing that he is training with Tigerstar and with no hard evidence that he would betray them, and he doesn't have an apprentice yet, just because they like him more than Bracakenfur I guess. Not to mention being ThunderClan's chosen cat. (Come to think of it, it would have made way more sense if the "bramble claw" omen was planted by Tigerstar Crookedstar-style, or if it was an omen from Mothwing (which, of course, Hawkfrost would have been responsible for).
Crowfeather - Gets chosen by StarClan despite even them thinking he was unqualified and him not fitting the whole theme of "cats with connections to other Clans.
Firestar - Gets two prophecies about him, has a special connection to StarClan, and always has StarClan to show up in his crisis of faith when others like Bluestar don't. Plus they help him beat Scourge.
Blackstar and Russetfur: StarClan really seems to like these two for some reason. In the Night Whispers prologue they have nothing but good to say about Russetfur despite some of the more negative things she's done, while when Blackstar randomly abandons StarClan they appear to him pretty quickly to clear things up when they aren't nearly so obvious to other cats.
Mothwing - StarClan seems pretty fine with her disbelief despite the dangers it can bring, and never try to warn Mudfur or anyone.
Ashfur - Well, we all know this one, he's let into StarClan in a situation where based on their own rules no one else would just because they pity him for having "loved too much"/he apologized (with no evidence that he meant it).
Brokenstar - They are really insistent on him giving ShadowClan a hard time, ot the point of him essentially existing as a curse for ShadowClan according to Molepelt and them doing nothing to stop his easily preventable rise to power, and then there's how his existence makes them throw Nightstar under the bus.
Cinderpelt - She's the only one who gets to be reincarnated, this goes without saying.
Unfavored by StarClan:
Cloudstar - Well, they knew about SkyClan's destruction and not only covered it up but later try to deny it, of all the characters who abandoned StarClan he had the best reason for it. Oh yeah, and letting Darkstar come up with his rule so he can sell the extra SkyClan territory that might have saved them in the future, and then after they practically arranged events so SkyClan would be kicked out, decide to go after everyone else for what they did to SkyClan (with the whole Yellowfang/Molepelt thing, and then later in AVOS when they really want SkyClan back).
Mapleshade - They sent an omen to reveal her forbidden romance despite knowing what could happen, while they are happy to cover up other forbidden romances like Bluestar and Oakheart.
Yellowfang - One of the worst cases. They just felt like giving a cat a power that sucks and is torturous, so they could force her to be a medicine cat, so they could punish her for getting pregnant with the wrong timing despite following the code, and make her life even more miserable. And then she goes on to do the same thing to other cats after she dies...
Goosefeather - Don't really need to explain this one.
Thistleclaw - Whatever you think of him, StarClan did go out of their way to show his violence would make him a bad leader while being fine with others like Russetfur who were similarly violent, and sent him to the Dark Forest under conditions where they didn't send some other cats.
Squirrelflight and Leafpool - Leafpool was devoted to StarClan and got rewarded by being treated as a vessel for special babies, being tricked into staying with Crowfeataher long enough to get pregnant with the whole "follow your heart" thing, while Squirrelflight just got blamed for something they forced her to do, and then they nearly decided to send both to the Dark Forest for much less than they would ever send every other cat, because they just really hate these two.
Rowanstar - StarClan openly talks about how much they can't stand this cat during the prologues.
Also, NOT Hollyleaf, everyone always depicts StarClan as denying her powers when the powers came from the Ancient cats and StarClan genuinely thought she was part of the prophecy. This just annoys me a lot as a misconception, it seems to appear on every MAP/discussion of her...
