So apparently it's been confirmed that Rabbitleap is her father. *sigh* There goes HarryxBella.
And yet he's her mentor. We've been shown time and time again why parents should never mentor their own kits. Older siblings aren't much better, but they aren't guaranteed to be biased. It's possible that they won't be too attached to their younger sibling, especially with a big age gap.
But this begs the question, when did the editors decide on RabbitxBella? If it was before TST, why would they knowingly apprentice her to her father? It's a well established enough rule that they would probably know. But sadly, laziness is always a possibility.
If they decided after, which is what I suspect, did they just choose him at random? It seems like they throw a dart at a board now whenever they name cats/create ships/pair apprentices and mentors.
I've been vocal in the past about not every cat needing to be a mentor. And I still stand by this. Rabbitleap is a fantastic mentor and deserves to have many apprentices. But. There is a cat who has never trained an apprentice, and would be a great mentor. I'm talking about Violetshine of course. She's the perfect mentor for a cat like Wrenpaw. Both went through early age trauma, though to be very different degrees. Violetshine is patient, calm, and wickedly skilled. She could help Wrenpaw overcome her anxiety and turn her into a great warrior. Although, her being Tree's mate could backfire. Too bad we'll never know.
So that's the sum and total of my argument. Violetshine should have been Wrenpaw's mentor. Ordinarily I wouldn't complain about mentor-apprentice pairings. But the problem of Wrenpaw being his daughter and Violetshine being so deserving of an apprentice forced me to say something.
However, I do have acknowledge something. Rabbitleap is an equally patient cat. I would be okay with this partnership if we had some sort in book mention of Wrenpaw's anxiety meant that she could only trust her father as a mentor. This is the only condition I would accept. This most likely won't happen though.

I feel like I'm one of the few people on here who could care less about HarryxBella. I don't hate it, but I don't take brief scenes (like them going with Echosong together) too seriously until the relationship is confirmed. And anyway, so long as at least Barley's line is still going in the Clans, then I'm fine with whoever she ended up with.
As for Violetshine being her mentor, that would've been interesting and it probably would've even made Wrenpaw into a supporting character in the second book. Still, I hope she becomes one later on and hopefully Violetshine gets her own apprentice later on, too.

Honestly, I don't see this as a problem. Rabbitleap might be a great mentor to Wrenpaw.

Same, I never cared for it either, but I do hope Violetshine gets an apprentice eventually, she's shown to mature a lot over the books, and I think she's ready for one now that her kits are apprentices themselves.
