Since it's canon that Dappletail had kits named Featherkit and Cricketkit, who do you think is the real father?
A good chunk of the family tree comes from Su Susann's comments, but I know a lot of people discredit it while some accept it. Runningwind is the canon father of her kits, but was shown to be close to Stormtail...so who do you think it is?

Didn't add this in the post, but I myself think it would be Stormtail. She was never shown with Runningwind (which doesn't count for too much considering some families in warriors are just like that) but what gets me is Cricketkit being shown as blue-gray on the family tree. Some colorations are off on the tree, but Cricketkit is fair game because they were never shown. Personally, I never saw Runningwind being a fatherly type, but if he were to be the father to anyone's kits I would've said Brindleface's litter (Ashfur, Ferncloud, Elderkit, and Tulipkit)

It's Stormtail. In BP in said the whole clan was waiting for the announcement of their kits. Why she would get with Runningwind when she was so close to Stormtail is beyond me.

I always thought she'd end up having kits with Stormtail. I thought that would have been a compelling narrative, but it's a shame it was changed to Runningwind.

Stormtail makes the most sense, but I always liked her with another cat for some reason and even Vicky doesn't think Bluestar had any half-siblings (not a confirmation, but I'm just saying I agree with her). I just don't think it was Runningwind.

BP also made it so that Dappletail cannot have kits no matter how much she wanted them. Similar to how I refuse to believe it made Whitestorm as young as he is there, I'm refusing her having kits with anyone.

To be fair, the book never actually confirmed it or not, it was just speculation among the queens. Besides, her having kits has been a thing ever since Rising Storm anyway.

I sort of like the idea that Dappletail tried to hide that they were Stormtail's (partially because of the whole "she stole him from Moonflower!!" arguments + not wanting to hurt Bluefur/star and whatnot) but everyone already knew who it was. I doubt it would work narrative/timeline-wise, but I was thinking that it would be cool if she was good friends with Runningwind and tried to pass them off as his until it wore on their friendship and they cut things off.

Stormtail was more criticized for being a distant father than anything, and even then he grew closer to his kits as they got older. Bluefur also never holds any actual animosity towards Dappletail, and this wouldn't be the first time a cat has taken a mate not long after the other died, either. Plus, we know that polyamory is a thing among the Clans, even if it is uncommon. It's not like any of this is against the warrior code.

Oh no, I meant the "stole him from moonflower" as a fandom thing. I've seen some arguments about both those points a long time ago although not anymore.

I always hated those arguments. Same. I think the whole "stolen" thing was started around the time the whole "Squirrelflight used Ashfur to make Brambleclaw jealous!" thing was nearing its peak (which always got on my nerves but that's a whole other rant)
