Moonkitti's video on the subject does far more justice on the topic then me, but even taking into account that, if she really wanted to escape her father's legacy so badly, why would she join the clan *he* was leader of? I mean I know RiverClan has water, and WindClan's sleeping outside would get uncomfortable, but it just always bugged me. Dovewing joining ShadowClan didn't bug me, Twigbranch switching around didn't bug me.

At the time, Tigerstar had taken over RiverClan and treated the half-Clan cats horribly there, while he'd tried to conquer WindClan and killed many there too. They all had reason to hate Tigerstar, and thus reason to hate her. With ShadowClan, they clearly liked Tigerstar enough, so she thought they'd put up with her as well, because sh'ed given up on any group that hates Tigerstar not also hating her because they were related, even if she herself personally thought Tigerstar was horrible.

I’ve always thought that despite the bad things she heard from her clanmates about Tigerstar, she may have thought that it was just other cats opinions and joined him only to find out she was wrong, but stayed in Shadowclan anyway cuz she ain’t a clan hopper. But obviously she found her place there.
Either that or she knew that her father was bad but joined Shadowclan cuz she’d rather be in a clan with a dangerous leader and potentially be respected than stay in her own clan and be looked down upon. I guess that maybe she was quite closed minded as an apprentice and didn’t think that things could get better.

That bothered me, too. I guess she and Bramblestar had different ways of coping with knowing that their father was evil.

I guess she figured that she would be better accepted in a clan where her father is the leader. She never really seemed that against Tigerstar, considering she named her son after him.

Continuing with this, remember how RiverClan seriously considered leaving Hawkfrost and Mothwing to starve in the old forest during their evacuation just because Tigerstar was their father, despite Hawkfrost being one of their most prominent warriors and Mothwing being their only medicine cat. There's no way RiverClan would accept some random ThunderClan apprentice who was Tigerstar's daughter.

I thought that was to reclaim the name. I'm pretty sure she said something like that but maybe I'm misremembering. Didn't she freak out when Tigerstar approached her in a dream in TNP?
I never really liked that Tawnypelt left, though I can understand it. I always admired Bramblestar for staying because I know I would've just left the clans entirely if I were in his and Tawny's place.

I think her choice to leave was acceptable, and I can see why she did it. Due to the whole of TC hating Tigerstar, most of the clan, even Firestar started treating Tawnykit and Bramblekit differently, just because of their father. If even the heroic clan leader is suspicious of the kits, then other cats must’ve been even nastier. Tawnypelt wanted a clan that would view her as an equal, not just a murderers daughter.
