ShadowClan is so interesting because they start out as even like RiverClan generally is but eventually become completely male-dominated. I wonder if there's a stronger patriarchy there as a result of having such horrible and ambitious leaders. ShadowClan has literally never had a female leader in any of the main series books and seems to steer towards political dynasties, such as Raggedstar-Brokenstar and Tigerstar-Tigerheartstar.
That is really interesting to think about, but do they even really pay attention to gender in this series?
They all seem to treat everyone equally, whether or not they're male or female.
At least, that what it seems like to me.
Another thing, is that before The Broken Code, there was over 100 more males in the series than females, so it would make sense that there's more male leaders and what not.
All of the clans seem to be following a family route except WindClan and SkyClan.
Squirrelflight is Firestar's daughter, Leafpool is his daughter, Jayfeather is his grandson, Alderheart is his grandson.
In RiverClan, Mistystar and Reedwhisker are father and son, Mothwing isn't related to them, but she is related to Tigerstar, and for some reason, everyone who Tigerclawstar fathered has had a position of power.
Like, Bramblestar is leader, Tawnypelt was deputy, but then her grandson become deputy, but after he died, it was Cloverfoot, who isn't related to them.
Also, Puddleshine isn't related to anyone, but Shadowpaw is.
Mistystar was Bluestar's daughter.
Featherwhisker and Sunstar were brothers.
However, Harestar could be Onestar's son, like, no one knows, because no one cares about WindClan families, except for a select few, they're just dropping random cats left and right.
