It had only been a few days since he had last visited the trash cans in this particular area. His last visit hadn’t gone so well, but maybe this time around things would be better for him. If he could just sneak around and not get caught then surely he’d be able to secure himself a decent meal. He didn’t have an owner or anything to take care of him, and he would be lying if he said he wasn’t getting really hungry. Meals had been scarce for him as of late, and while he could sustain himself on human food, he was still a demon and needed the diet of a hound like himself to keep up a human appearance and keep his strength up. He was certainly having a hard time as a stray, but that was okay. Things were going to get better for him soon, he just knew it.
The stray wasn’t bothering anything as he dug around in the trash, picking out little things that would make for a tasty treat. He had gathered himself a pretty good meal when he was unceremoniously stopped and picked up by the collar of his shirt. He didn’t protest much, but he did give a few whines before falling limp in his attacker’s grasp. Maybe he was being brought somewhere with lots of food! That would be really nice.
A few moments later he was brought inside a very nice and warm establishment and was faced with a tall man that very well wasn’t human, but the hound couldn’t quite tell what he was. Even still, that didn’t stop him from smiling, tongue lolling out as he lifted a taloned hand in a friendly greeting. ”Hi!” He barked happily. Even if he was being held by the collar of his shirt - which wasn’t all that comfortable if he was being honest - and brought to somebody he had never seen before, the demon was still very excited to see this new person. Maybe he was nice and would offer some treats or something. That would be really nice, and a lot better than digging around in the trash simply hoping for a meal.

Black eyes looking over the new demon, he couldn’t help but frown a little. Wasn’t much, especially when compared to the one holding him up. It was clear he hadn’t eaten properly in some time based on his slowly dissolving human appearance, let alone the fact of where he was found. Perhaps he really was some sort of house pet... or maybe he was just malnourished. Stunted physical development, maybe? While he was rather sure of the first option, he understood that there were possibilities. Then again, he’d get answers soon.
Nodding to Kiran, it wasn’t long before the stray was set down and the demon made himself scarce to continue his job. Jiyeong, on the other hand, was left to process the greeting he received. He seemed rather upbeat considering his current condition. The way his tongue lolled was a large reminder that he was a hound of some sort. Still, it was interesting - the others didn’t seem to present similar behaviors outside of eating. Not that he had seen, that is. Raising an eyebrow, he didn’t bother responding - he had never been much for greetings. Rather, he turned slightly to put together a drink. He’d gotten into the habit of making bloody Mary’s for Lishan if she needed a boost of energy. While ideal for several reasons, it seemed human blood got her through a long night. Once it was done, he set it down in front of the demon. ”Drink it.” As it stood, there were still patrons to deal with. Unfortunately, he didn’t have time to focus on the stay until they closed.
Lishan, on the other hand, did. She saw him the second he was carried in and was far from happy about it. He just wasn’t the ideal hound, not from her perspective, anyway. Part of her wasn’t even sure if he could hold his own in a fight. Then again, if he couldn’t she could assume he wouldn’t be here for long. After all, the two gumiho seemed to pride themselves on running a successful and efficient business, and a useless demon wouldn’t sit well with either of them. And yet, she wanted to know what was going on... she wanted to hear it better. So, she called Mar and had him take over the sound board. She could secure their meals and simultaneously keep a closer eye on the stray demon. After all, she was still a guard dog at heart.

This place that he had been brought to wasn’t that bad. It was nice, really. It did have a lot of loud noises, and most loud noises were scary, but he didn’t mind it here. It was nice and he was sure the music was why people came here. People liked to dance, and he liked to dance too! But it was the food that had really drawn him in. He was starving, and his human facade was crumbling more and more each day. His horns were starting to show, and already his nails were more like their demonic talon selves than what was more human. It wouldn’t be long before his tail started to appear, and that would really raise some questions. Not that he minded, he just didn’t like running around in his demon form since that tended to scare people, and he hated scaring people. He wanted to be friends, not enemies, and it was hard to get people to understand that when he was in his demon form, so it would be great if he could just stay in his human form instead of converting back to the hellish creature that he really was.
Being put down on the ground jarred him from his thoughts. The hound looked up with wide, round eyes, tongue still lolling happily from his mouth. ”Hi!” He barked again, wondering if his first greeting had gone unheard. He didn’t want to seem rude by not giving some sort of greeting to the man he had been set in front of. The hound looked at the other spirit in hopes that he would get a response, but what he got instead put a confused look on his face.
He looked from drink to spirit and then back to the drink as his head slowly tipped to the side in question. For a moment there it seemed like he was going to question the drink, but it wasn’t long before he let out a happy little yip and brought the drink closer. Instead of drinking one would normally, he leaned his head closer and started using his tongue to lap up the liquid, really just making more of a mess than it was worth but still enjoying it all the same. "What is this?" He asked in between licks, giving a little wriggle of excitement as he waited for the answer.

shout out to me literally dying I'm so sorry -------
"I heard you the first time," The gumiho muttered as he set down the glass. He had no reason to respond to the demon's greeting, especially since he had better things to attend to at the moment. The bar would still be open for a few hours which meant he had to find a way to keep the thing occupied until the doors were locked. As it stood, he was sure that it wouldn't be a hard task to manage, and if it became as such he'd simply pull one of the other hounds to watch him for the rest of the night. He'd only watched for a second after setting the drink down, however turned away at the lack of questions to tend to the patrons. A couple seemed particularly upset that his attention had been diverted so suddenly, but that was something he could deal with rather easily.
Before long a question was being posed. Black eyes turning back to the stray demon, Jiyeong found himself looking at the new mess that had been created. It took him a moment to get past it and process the question, though a slight frown tugged at the corners of his mouth. "Are you serious?" The question was quiet, muttered under his breath as he wondered what kind of demon wouldn't know blood when it hit their tongue. Still, he supposed it was still a question that needed an answer. "It's blood, type AB negative," he answer lowly, leaning in slightly to prevent the people seated at the counter from hearing. He watched him for a moment longer before sighing. "How did you manage to make such a mess?"
Lishan let herself behind the bar that Hyeon-u typically worked, though hazel eyes never left the other gumiho. She had watched the stray get dropped off, watched the spirit whip up one of their typical boosters, then could only listen as he questioned the new mess. She was only behind the bar in passing for the time being, but this gave her a better place to listen from. "Did he ever tell you why he wanted the mutt brought inside?" she asked, casting a side glance at vixen.

hi, don't be sorry for dying things happen and oooo a tattoo sounds fun, but not the hurt part whoops -----
All of this was really fun! He couldn't deny that he had been a little frightened at first, but now he didn't think anything of it other than that this could be some kind of really fun, new game or something even better. Maybe these people wanted to be his friend. He loved friends. He liked to think that he had a lot of them, but they never did hang around him a lot. That made him a little sad, but he was sure his friends didn't stick around because they were always busy or something like that. It made sense to him. That was why he was alone so often. He didn't like being alone, but he took what he could get, and every now and then he would see some friends or even find new ones, like right now. Right now he was making some new friends and that was honestly really exciting. They were even feeding him, and he couldn't be happier.
Unaware of the annoyance from the other demon, the hound happily lapped up a bit more of the drink, going so far as to even lean down and lick at the mess he had made on the surface in front of him. He listened to what the other demon had to say before glancing back up at him, that wide smile still on his face. "Blood? Blood tastes good! I haven't had some in a really long time," he admitted. He wasn't fond of hurting people to get the nutrients that he needed, but he was also aware that if he wanted the energy to keep up a more human appearance and not scare people away he needed to get sustenance from somewhere. He had learned to get blood in a way that wouldn't kill anybody, but that wasn't always a solid way to get a full meal.
When asked about the mess, the hound looked down and then back to his newfound friend, shrugging nonchalantly. "It tasted good!" He chuffed, sure that this answer would please the other demon.
From where she stood behind the bar Hyeon-u kept her attention on Jiyeong and the stray hound between serving drinks and keeping up with the customers they currently had. She knew Lishan had come over to observe the whole thing, and Hyeon-u couldn't blame her. This whole thing was rather intriguing, and she didn't think that many people would be able to just ignore all this that was going on.
When questioned about Jiyeong's intentions for the hound, Hyeon-u gave a shrug. "Not exactly, but I never really asked either," she answered coolly. "He has his reasons for doing this, and if he wants to share then that's his choice." Hyeon-u would question Jiyeong on a lot of things, but there were some things she let go without inquiring about it. She had to admit she was curious to know why he was doing this, but this was also something she would wait and see if he would bring up first without her sticking her nose into every part of his business.

ahhhh if you say so yeahhhh but it's all good now - finally at the peeling stage and then it'll be done soon ------
Unlike the creature before him, he had no use for friends. In fact, he had no use for any form of close interpersonal relationships. He didn't go out of his way to form them, didn't put in much effort to maintain them, and barely paid any attention if they came to an end. The way he saw it, such relations were not valuable, and therefore useless to him. Still, it wasn't as if he didn't have them from time to time. Sure, they were nice for a bit, but then he got bored. When he got bored things dissolved quickly as per his own desire, and he moved on with ease. They were barely little fillers to pass the time.
Watching as the demon cleaned up his mess, Jiyoeng fulfilled other drink requests, though never wandered too far away from where the other was seated. Sure, he seemed rather... well, incompetent in a way, but that was no excuse to not keep an eye on him. Demons were wonderful actors, after all. "I can tell," he murmured. It didn't take much for him to recognize a malnourished demon considering how much they began to stand out. Horns, talons, tails if they had them, the whole nine yards eventually. What interested him was the reason he hadn't eaten. A stray hound had no limits, and would thusly be able to eat to its heart's content which was an entirely different situation as compared to the other four currently within the vicinity.
"Of course it tasted good, I made the drink." Sure it was a bit arrogant, but he'd never made a bad drink. At least, not in his eyes. Sure, he'd made less satisfactory ones, but never bad. Still, the compliment didn't eliminate his previous train of thought. "Why exactly haven't you eaten? I was told you were on the streets - plenty of opportunity for meals, yes?"
The demon frowned at the answer she received, clearly displeased by the fact that there was no known reason the stray was here. The lack of reason was not good enough for her. While she didn't own the place and really hadn't been here too long, she considered it her territory, and she had never taken well to strays. She was always unsure if it was because of her training or if it was natural, but that wasn't the point. "I think he should at least give a vague reason why I can't do my job and remove a foreign hound," she muttered, eyes never leaving the other bar. "Besides, poor thing doesn't seem like he's worth much... Must've been a house pet."

ayyyy that's good, what tattoo did you get? o: -----
The demon didn't compute any arrogance or anything negative in the way the fox spirit talked or held himself. Honestly he was just living his best life right now, having enjoyed an amazing meal and was now in the presence of some very nice company. "I'm sure all your drinks are great! Can I try them all?" The hound then asked, eyes round with curiosity as he looked up at the other demon he considered his newfound friend. "Maybe not right now, but soon!" Yeah, soon. He wouldn't mind another drink right now at this moment, but he could wait patiently for a bit. He just had had a drink, he should give himself time to digest it even if he really didn't want to. He wanted more, but he was supposed to be a good dog and good dogs waited their turn for more food.
When asked about why he hadn't eaten, a small whine formed in the back of his throat. He wriggled around a bit where he sat, eyes looking downward in shame. "I didn't wanna hurt anybody..." He knew that was probably a dumb reason to not eat, and a lot of other demons he had run into had teased and mocked him for that, but it was the truth. He didn't want to hurt anybody. The thought of hurting people just didn't sit right with him. He knew he was a demon and demons were supposed to be scary, but he didn't want to be like that. And that whole ideal was just...hard for others to understand.
Perhaps she should have had an answer, but Hyeon-u couldn’t help that she didn’t. She was curious about things, sure, and she was even more curious about things that happened in her bar, but she also knew when to step back and give personal space. Jiyeong knew what he was doing, and Hyeon-u trusted him to not screw things up with whatever he was doing. Whatever he was doing with this hound couldn’t be detrimental if anything.
Though as Lishan continued to speak, Hyeon-u could see where she was coming from. It would be pretty frustrating to not be able to do her job. ”Give it some time, Jiyeong will surely let you have your way in no time. I don’t think he’d keep the thing around for long.” From what she could tell the stray was dumb, certainly not in any condition to work like Lishan and her pack. The bar had no use for the stray. Getting rid of it made the most sense to Hyeon-u.
Which, thinking of that led Hyeon-u to have her own question. ”Are stray hounds common?” Seeing as she had never paid much attention to hounds and the way their species worked, she wasn’t sure if that was normal or not. She didn’t think it was, especially with how rare and valuable hellhounds were, but who knew, she could learn something new just yet.

The fox raised an eyebrow at the question, noting the curiosity in the other's gaze. Interesting little mutt, he was... "I suppose you can," he murmured. Oddly peppy for a demon... Then again, he supposed they did have a wide variety of personalities. Even still, this one more closely mimicked a human... A painfully optimistic human. It was a little annoying, but he found himself a little fond of it. Compared to his own analytical attitude, it was nice to have this little ray of positivity. How long he'd be happy to have it around, though, was questionable.
As he began to put together other drinks and entertain the other patrons, Jiyeong kept an ear out for the answer he was receiving. Didn't... want to hurt anybody? What kind of demon put other's vitality above their own? Not only was it illogical, but he thought it to be a stupid mentality. "Does that not go against your basic nature?" Curiosity was slowly getting the best of him, and he only had more questions for the seemingly lesser hound. Still, the thing had to eat... "Pick your meal, then. There's a wide selection here, and it's typically easy." He wasn't about to offer to give the demon a meal when he was clearly capable of getting one for himself.
----
She wouldn't have cared as much if it wasn't a mutt. Well, that wasn't entirely true, but she felt like she would care a little less if it had been a useful hound. This one, however, was a lowly type in her opinion. The house-pet hounds weren't a product of sin like herself and her companions. Rather, those who wanted hell hounds without the responsibility of higher maintenance found a way to breed them, and eventually, they were also a highly coveted demon variation, but for different reasons. While she was a prized guard dog, the mutt her eyes were trained on was like... a show dog. Pampered, sweet, fully provided for. Worthless as far as she was concerned.
When the vixen answered her, Lishan only nodded slightly. "You're right, I'm just... Irritated," she muttered, eyes flitting over to Mar for a second. He was faring well, so she would secure their meal once she was satisfied with their observations. However, it wasn't long before a question was thrown her way.
Shaking her head slightly, the demon found herself helping fill drink orders. She'd been standing here for so long and doing nothing, so she figured she could at least help out. "They aren't - my breed is highly coveted for our skill. Once somebody has one, they take as many precautions they can imagine to keep us. His breed isn't often made stray, either. They're like house pets and valued for their companionship. They don't fare well when it comes to fending for themselves, so they don't last long if they become strays."

Ohhh you totally should, see I still need to get a switch, there’s so many games I wanna play on it Oof rip your state but I’m glad to hear you’re doing pretty well though ^^ -----
Excitement lit up the demon’s gaze when he was told he could try all the drinks. ”Thank you, thank you!” He practically barked, jittering with excitement at the prospect of getting to try everything the fox spirit could make. The only downside to all of this was the fact that he’d probably have to pick a favorite, and he didn’t want to make one drink feel lesser than the other. Maybe he’d just have to try extra hard to remind himself that drinks weren’t sentient and didn’t feel emotion - they wouldn’t care or even know about which one was the hound’s favorite.
The demon watched as his newfound friend went about making drinks and keeping others entertained. It was really interesting to see what he did, and just how easily he did it too. The hound thought it would be interesting to try it out himself even though he knew he’d mess something up. But messing up was just part of things, and messing up only helped you learn. Even still he kept from jumping over to “help” the spirit and instead stayed put.
The hound squirmed ever so slightly when posed with a question. He shrugged, glancing down for a moment. ”Kinda, but...I like people being happy.” As a demon he was aware just how unnatural that was, but it was the truth. Happiness was a good thing. What “real” demons did usually wasn’t good. ”It’s easy?” He then asked when getting a meal was brought up. Easy usually implied that the human wouldn’t struggle, and when there wasn’t a struggle the pain was less. Honestly if he didn’t have to drink blood to survive then he wouldn’t do it, but unfortunately that was one thing he couldn’t change about being a demon.
——-
Being irritated by this made sense to the fox spirit. She could easily see how it would be frustrating to be in the same general area as somebody of your own species but that somebody came from a totally different walk of life and seemed to be the exact opposite of what a demon should be. It was like he was making a fool of himself and a fool of the species. Hyeon-u could easily see how that would be irritating.
Ya know, it was odd that she was finding a lesser creature relatable, and it was even weirder that she honestly didn’t have a problem with that fact.
All of this was interesting to know, and it did make Hyeon-u curious as to why and how this newfound hound became a stray. If what Lishan was saying was true, which Hyeon-u didn’t take her as a liar now, then there had to be something wrong with this hound.
The gumiho narrowed her eyes in thought. ”There must be more to that hound then. Maybe his owner just didn’t want to deal with such a...peppy creature, or maybe there’s more to him we just haven’t seen yet.” Even if he was dangerous or something of the sorts, they could take him, but it was still something to be on guard about just in case.

dude honestly get it its so worth it - I just got a microSD card for mine so I can get more games yeahhhh I'm pretty sure natural selection is coming for my state tbh lmao ------
Without responding to the demon's thanks, the fox spirit returned to his work easily. Making drinks had become rather second nature to him, and he'd honestly grown to enjoy making them. He wouldn't mind making more for the lesser hound, just not now. Right now he was busy securing his own meals and ensuring business ran as planned despite the fact that he was the one who requested the mutt be brought inside. Still, he didn't seem like too much of a hindrance this far, so it was easy to continue working as per usual. Or, it was until he received an answer to his question.
People being happy... He thought that job belonged to the angels. Besides, who cared about other people, especially when they were human? Humans existed as a resource, nothing more, nothing less. Humans, in his eyes, were simply a means of survival and getting whatever he wanted should he not feel like doing it himself. He'd known most demons to share the sentiment and yet here he was, insisting that he would rather people be happy than take care of himself. It was significantly less self-serving than he was accustomed to. "Of course it's easy, just pick somebody and charm them. Should be easy for somebody of your nature," Jiyeong responded.
----
The hound took the response into thought, briefly wondering exactly how the mutt her eyes were trained on had landed himself here. Sure, they didn't serve much purpose but even the show-hounds were valued. "Maybe... Whatever the case, I just hope he doesn't wanna keep him." Having it in the building was one thing, but there was no way in hell she'd interact with it beyond removal. He was no pack member of hers, and he'd be treated as an outcast if it came down to it. It wasn't like she was here to be nice, she was here for work and a safe place to stay. After a moment of silence on her part, she finally turned away. "I'll be back to work, then." She'd overstayed her place behind the bar. Aside from that, she could get a better view of the new demon from behind the soundboard.

As soon as i can start saving up that’s for sure gonna be something im gonna save for, i need it whoops but i completely feel that -----
The demon squirmed uncomfortably yet again. He looked up at the fox spirit with wide, blinking eyes, doing what he could to hold back a small whine. He didn’t like this idea at all, but...well, he did need to eat. He was starting to look really demonic, and that was the last thing he wanted. If there was one thing he really hated it was looking the part of what he really was, a scary beast that nobody would want around. Nobody made friends with scary creatures, and that wasn’t part of his agenda at all.
With a sigh he decided he might as well at least try to get a meal for himself. If he wanted to stop looking so much like a demon then that was his only choice. But before leaving to do that, he turned to the fox spirit and offered a faint, friendly smile. He was certainly subdued at this point with the thought of what he had to do, but he was still trying to put on a friendly, bubbly facade for the most part. ”Oh! I forgot to tell you, but you can call me Crumb. Well, my old owner called me Cookie Crumble, but Crumb for short. It’s a really nice name!” He couldn’t believe he had forgotten to tell the other demon about his name, but he had done it now so that was good.
-----
Hyeon-u shared that sentiment. She really hoped Jiyeong didn’t decide to keep the over enthusiastic hound; she was pretty sure he wouldn’t as the other fox spirit typically didn’t keep useless things around. He kept what was useful, and this hound, even from just the first few minutes of seeing it, did not seem useful in the slightest. At least not useful for what they did here.
The gumiho gave a quick nod of farewell as Lishan took her leave. Hyeon-u needed to get back to paying full attention to her work as well. Just because there was a new hound didn’t mean they could stand around and let the bar go to chaos. People still needed to be served, and that’s what Hyeon-u was going to do.
