OTW Camp NaNoWriMo 2023 - July!! Write-in (Live once again!)

This year I got done a few writing contest entries, some school stuff, a few short stories, and finished a huge writing piece that ended up being about a hundred pages (which is a lot for me) and I’m hoping to get it published this year! Towards the end of the year I started a sequel to the huge writing piece, and it’s most likely gonna end up being bigger then the first one. I hope my writing improves this year, and I’m hoping to be published as well.

I’m bored, so I thought I’d tell you guys about the plot of the first book in the series I’m writing. It’s called Guard Dogs: Destiny Begins (Ik, cheesy as heck title). Sorry for any typos or spelling errors in this! Also sorry for this extremely long post, I wasn’t expecting this to be so long.

Here’s a quick preview:
Moon, an abandoned female Siberian Husky, is wondering around during a rainy day looking for any signs of other dogs. To her luck, she finds a female Flat-Coated Retriever. She watched this dog slide through a crack in a fence, which she finds very odd as no dog could fit through the slim crack. She watches what the dog does through the fence. The dog does a secret password and opens a portal. Obviously, Moon is amazed. She ends up doing the password herself and hopping through the portal.

Actual plot:
Several stray dogs are separated into “alleys” like wolves are separated into packs. However, this one alley is much more important then the rest. So important, that they have the world in their own paws. Dogs from the “Guard Dog Alley” guard five gems to keep the earth running. The Sky Gem turns day to night; The Nature Gem controls the growth of plants; The Water Gem controls all water on the planet; The Lightning Gem controls all storms; And the most powerful of all gems is the Power Gem, which controls all the other gems. With being a Guard Dog comes benefits. They have unlimited food, and unlike other stray dogs they use housedog food that is supplied from the hidden part of their alley (where the portal takes you). One alley knows about this, and wants the food. They don’t know anything about the magic the Guard Dogs hold though. This alley is The Fanghounds, an alley that only allows hounds in it because they believe hounds are the only acceptable dogs. In the first book, one dog guards each gem. These dogs are given powers, but they are forbidden to use them in battle. If they do, they are killed. When The Fanghounds find out that the Guard Dogs hold power, things get dirty. Dogs are killed even more then they were before, and a new war between the two alleys is declared. Can Moon, the newest member of the Guard Dogs, possibly save earth from the bloodthirsty paws of The Fanghounds?

Hey, Mint! I’m working on some projects right now and once those are done, I can start writing. I miss it so much.

My computer died before I could get much done, and it was already late so I headed to bed lol.

Every time I write, I try to complete a chapter or a set amount of paragraphs/pages. Also, I think word sprints and word wars would be fun!

I had that issue once. I enjoyed writing in a notebook, but I found it much harder b/c my mind could think quicker than my hands could write, so I felt like I wasn't able to get my words out quick enough. Meanwhile, I type really fast so a computer is so much easier and quicker XD Plus I like typing, haha.
