Lark: Yes! NaNo is whatever you want it to be.  Counting every creative word is a sub-section of how to complete NaNo - it's called being a rebel. So yes! Allowed! NaNo even has a forum sub-board devoted to that. Kayla: Pfft. Good job. XD

I'm not sure how but how do you add words to a story on nano? ^^; I remember this being a pain when I started writing in June. It appears to still be the same: - Start at your NaNo homepage. - Click the title of your project you want to update. - click "Goals" and then the title of your goal. - on the left side of your screen, there should be a window called "progress updates". There's a link that says "+ Add New Update". Click it. - Fill out the window that pops up (how many words you wrote in what timeframe, how you wrote, and how you felt while writing). - Click "Save Progress". That should update your total word count on your stats page. Hope this helps! If anyone has a simpler way to do it, let me know, I would like that. XD I ended up just bookmarking my stats page so I could go straight to my progress updates. Fewer clicks that way. By the way, I'm new here, how does this thread work exactly? XD Do we just post whatever word count we feel proud of? |

^^" welcome, Skypaw! Yeah, pretty much! During actual Nanos, we share our goals and how much we've written and do some word wars/sprints and stuff. But when Nano is not going on, we still can still share what we've accomplished and sometimes we have 'unofficial' Nanos just as motivation to keep writing XD And we can do the word wars/sprints whenever, as well, as long as someone is on & interested (: It's basically a place to share/talk about writing! (:
(Hopefully Mint will approve of my explanation xD)

Captain Americat Oh, I've never had some great passion for short stories or anything, I just never had the patience to sit down and write a whole novel. Writing a complete story in 2000-3000 words gave me a sense of accomplishment. XD I've always wanted to write a novel, just never had the patience or idea for it--- since I'm so used to short stories, all my ideas are ones that can be completed in 5000 words or less. In fact, for this novel I'm working on, it was originally 5000 words of unrelated scenes with the same characters and same world. I decided to turn it into a novel, but it deadass took me 2 solid months to come up with a plot idea. Once I got the idea, I spat out a 2000 word outline in 2 days, but those 2 months were brutal. XD
