You're fanned Glad you're enjoying it so much! Maybe my writing is improving more XD Got a favorite character? It is and your premise and characters are most excellent. I love Hollowpaw and her fox family. I disliked Webpaw but now feeling more sympathetic towards him. I like Gentlestripe, too and am eager to find out how he is related. I distrust Yelloweye. . .getting a bad vibe off her. Not sure why. . .

HollowpAW NO I mean, her plan does have a certain cleverness to it, and I'm glad she's found a way to make use of her unorthodox upbringing in the Clans, but - they are a bunch of angry coyotes and she is a smol med cat apprentice! This is not going to end well!
I'm very curious about the "red mist" /possession effect. Have other spirits than Gentlestripe discovered Hollowpaw's potential, maybe? Welcome to the fan club, Phantom!

phantomstar57 Yay! Thank you so much. Always makes me happy to know I'm portraying characters the way I intend. Always worry about that. Yelloweye isn't someone I can say much on yet, but I can say your feelings are quiet interesting. ~Sapphire~ Hollowpaw was definitely both clever and stupid for doing what she did. Though, in her eyes, it was the only thing to do in order to save more cats from being killed by them. Still, there could have been a better method. The possession thing is fun to write for and has a lot of potential. You'll definitely be seeing more of it and have it a little more explained later on.

Still feel like I am running in place and time is whipping by me. But otherwise ok. I absolutely despise the mild winter we've had. Love cold blustery stormy winters filled with screaming Nor'easters and feet of snow, and glorious bitter cold bright sunny days . I have always loved those kind of winters and hated mild ones. Sigh. Oh well maybe next year ---

No, she's being incredibly brave! Just, if my younger sister did something like that I would be furious with her x'D I want your weather, Phantom! It's been really stormy/windy for the past few weeks where I live, and it snowed today, so everywhere's flooded.

I feel like I got jipped so bad this winter. I wish I could send or dud weather to you!

Well, I'm up to a lot of editing, which is interesting I guess. I've managed to get a fair bit of it done. Also writing poetry until it's unrecognizable. But there ya go.

Well, I'm up to a lot of editing, which is interesting I guess. I've managed to get a fair bit of it done. Also writing poetry until it's unrecognizable. But there ya go. For my own book I have stopped to lightly edit and read earlier chapters to the point here my late chapters are and start pulling the threads together, so I can lay down the entire first draft. Then edit, proof, edit, proof until it shines. Rising Stars will be next.. . .

Huuum. Remind me to ask your advice on editing here soon. I need more tips. Always happy to help if I can. I use the editing process to add important details I may have forgotten, or realize I need to add, and to streamline phrasing. And to flesh out characters a bit more.

Yeah! I've really got to get through the editing processes on Will to Live, since that's fairly polished up. I need to correct some of the world building details and technology, but otherwise I need to start getting into what you mentioned.

Getting the 1st draft can be the most difficult, but once done, it seems the rest falls into place with each editing pass.

True enough! This draft is on it's ... 4th? But that's because the first two drafts had to have some major changes/additions/shifts.

True enough! This draft is on it's ... 4th? But that's because the first two drafts had to have some major changes/additions/shifts. I am still laying down the 1st draft of Book III, and in some of the later chapters that have not been written out yet, I updated maps to create a version I can use on my Surface Pro and OH BOY caught one major error in who goes where, and gave a couple of bodies of water wrong names . Good thing I still have all my original maps and was able to correct that and then go into the chapters and correct the who goes where! I am finding as I write the original rough draft of the chapters are obsolete and the whole rough draft scrapped, but at least I can now lay down the 1st draft because a lot of the earlier chapters are in the 3rd or 4th draft. But the different threads are weaving together better now and I see light at the end of a long long tunnel! I work in mysterious ways. . .

That's awesome!
I remember you said something about writing each chapter in its own document or something like that? Was that you?

True enough! This draft is on it's ... 4th? But that's because the first two drafts had to have some major changes/additions/shifts. Yep in my scifi novel series books 1-3 I have each chapter in its own file. The big job comes when all are ready and its time to create the big document file that I will use for uploading and publishing. But that then has to get a proof book which I will read with a highlighter to find mistakes and areas that need tweaking, then use the big doc from then on. Some books that are shorter I'll use one file for the whole thing.

I really feel like I should start employing that method for my own works. It's becoming very tricky to weed through the word doc that is so long it doesn't actually load fully when I open it.

That isn't a good thing! Yep creating separate chapter docs is how I have done it for a long time. I only put it all together at the end when it has to be one doc file to create the pdf for publishing. And everything is still changing. Used to be LuLu allowed doc files but now they like KDP and CreateSpace want PDFs. So if a mistakle is found I have to correct it in the doc file and make a new pdf file.. .
