She sounded about as unhappy as he felt. Still, he fell in behind her, not paying attention to much as they walked. Three hours away... that wasn’t completely terrible. Even still, he felt like it was something that either of them could take care of separately. And yet, they were partnered. “Would you prefer traveling separately?” Carter questioned. If they felt about the same, then he figured the answer would be yes. Then again, he wasn’t a mind reader. He didn’t actually know what she was feeling.

He only raised an eyebrow, though other than that his expression didn’t change. “I beg to differ but alright.” It wasn’t hard to set a rendezvous point, nor was it hard for him to find anybody he’s spent at least five minutes around. But hey, he didn’t really care. Did he have a preference? Of course he did, otherwise he wouldn’t have asked. Did he care enough to genuinely protest? No, not really. When she posed her own question, he did have a strong preference. “Company car - we’d have have one layover on the train and the one that runs the second half of the trip is unreliable.” He’d traveled that way more than once, and it seemed the second train was consistently late, or shut down.

He changed directions with her, drawing in a deep breath. The boys were on the premises - good, no distractions. That, or Elias yelled at them to get it together and get to the building. Listening to his partner’s words, he nodded. “I’m sure we’ll be fine. I don’t need anything, and I’ve got two people close enough to there that owe me favors if we need something. Besides, the sooner we get there, the better.” They were in debt, unable to pay up for a previous job. So, he marked them. Left a lovely tune of contract on their backs. They owed him, and it wouldn’t go away until they were fully paid up.

In all honesty, Carter wasn’t paying attention to the exchange. It didn’t interest him in the slightest, and it just didn’t concern him. Instead he found himself looking down the opposite end of the hall, wondering exactly what potion of the building the guys were in. They were surely headed upstairs... the only one he worried about was Elias - the possible werewolf. They had a method of masking their scents, essentially making them invisible to any other species that could literally sniff them out. Including himself. And sure, he practices this a good portion of the time, but he had other ways. He’d watched all three of them, noting that Elias shared some of his personal abilities. Still, he never asked.
Once the exchange was over, the lupine followed her out to the parking deck, immediately taking interest in the Ford. It would need tires soon, and he was sure that he could ramp up the engines over all power. Listening to the engine start, he couldn’t help but grin a little. He loved things that he could make and alter and experiment with. Just as he loved architecture and landscaping, he loved mechanics work. It’s just that he rarely did it for pay. Finally getting into the passenger’s side, he shut the door. “Alright, time to suffer through a three hour drive.” He was generally referring to himself when he said suffer - he didn’t like sitting still for too long.

Carter our in his seatbelt, barely reacting when the folder landed in his lap. Right. Demon hunting. It’d been a few weeks since he’d been requested to find and possibly remove a demon. They weren’t exactly his favorite but they weren’t terrible. He just had to stay calm and not give them the edge of his emotions. He was hard to read, and without a start, manipulating emotions took more energy than demons were willing to put out. So, in the three hours it took to get from here to there, he needed to get over himself and accept that he now had a partner. The thing was, it was nothing against her, he just hated working with others that much. Sure, he’d grown accustomed to the boys but they also learned to just let him do what he did. The fact of the matter was, he just didn’t like being told what to do, especially when he felt he knew what he was doing. Even as a child before he could shift he’d hated when his foster parents told him to do something.
So he opened the file, only skimming through the pages. “The trouble this demon is supposedly causing all sounds trivial. Almost sounds like something a kid in high school would pull.” He paused pulling out one of the pages from the back. “Arson. Nice touch.” Well, could still be a high school kid but ultimately unlikely. “I’m sure this’ll be fun,” the lupine sighed, sarcasm lacing his words.

The lupine only hummed in reply, reading through the arson case. He could've at least picked something more interesting. There was nothing for him to really drink in. Nothing extremely eye-catching. Hell, he'd committed arson himself once or twice. "He really shouldn't be making decisions he isn't completely sure of," Carter replied, closing the folder after replacing the paper. "As for working together, you're clearly unhappy with it. I mean, if looks could kill." He chuckled a little, glancing over at her. "So, is it me or the actual assignment?"

Carter huffed at that. Had to have others prove his point for him? Very interesting. And telling, in a way. Or at least he thought it was. Still, he didn’t say anything more on it, instead turning his attention to her displeasure with the assignment. With her answer, he nodded slightly. “Right so, working with a stranger who also happens to be a giant dog isn’t the problem.” He wasn’t trying to accuse her of lying. He was more trying to straighten it out for himself, thinking out loud, really. When humans approached him, they knew and were clearly bothered by it. This would be the first time that it wasn’t a problem. “Then what’s the problem with the assignment if you don’t mind my asking?” Did he expect Celia to actually tell him the problem? No, not really. But if he had to work with her for an undefined time span, then he figured they should at least talk.

"A giant dog can be worked with. Would I have preferred someone I knew? Yes. But you're not stupid, nor are you helpless. You'll do," Celia told him, seeing no reason to try and sugar coat things. To his question, she shot him a glance, although he glare never faded. It wasn't meant for him, but she didn't bother trying to remove it when she knew it would be back. "My issue is with the whole lot of those manipulators. No matter their name, I want nothing to do with them, and that includes having to hunt them." If he wanted specifics, he was out of luck. She rarely talked of her reasons for hating the demons and angels alike, even if her hatred of them was well known to everyone. The few people who knew why she hated them, Louis being one of those few, never talked about it nor made her handle jobs that pertained them. Until now, all because Carter needed a petty creature to test himself with.

He only hummed a little at her initial reply. It was almost nice to know that she didn’t think him stupid - a good portion of people he worked with had. Then it turned to insults, and he’d be lying if he said they saw the light of day afterwards. Sure, not some of his best decisions, but he took pride in his intelligence. Probably a little too much. Still, he didn’t bother verbally responding, rather only watching her as a glare was thrown his way. That bad? Damn, what’d the demons do to her?
When she did answer however, he found himself nodding a little. Demons themselves were something, and the angels were hardly any better. Still, if he had to pick from the two, he’d go with the latter - they couldn’t lie. The former... absolutely infuriating. They almost always resulted in his messiest crime scenes. Still, she had a point - the manipulation was almost too much to deal with. Still, he made do and was on decent terms with one or two from each species. Decent being that they stayed out of each other’s way. “I can respect that,” Carter replies, leaning back in his seat and turning his gaze to the window. “It’s a real drag deal with something that can and will weasel its way out.” He was a fine one to talk. Still, it wasn’t like it was one of his innate skills.

(Shhhhh it’s fine)
Carter shrugged a bit. “I don’t do elaborate. Too many chances to mess it up.” He learned that the hard way after one of his own plans fell apart. A missed target, a good laceration, and a lot of frustration. The next day had gone better, but it didn’t make up for his initial failure. “Assess the threat and remove it. You don’t want to deal with it, and I don’t like petty jobs. The quicker it’s done the quicker we both go back home.” He didn’t draw his gaze from the window as he spoke, not finding it necessary.

(Never. XD)
Well, there was another point for him in her book. Celia couldn't stand the people who had to make flashy plans, and there were plenty of them in the organization. Now, sometimes a grand plan is called for, but it was very rarely. She wasn't one of the heavy hitters, just a scout and a spy. She had no reasons to be making complex plans that left too much to chance. "Good. If this one operates like the rest of them, he shouldn't have moved too far away from where he's been causing this mayhem. Whoever he's trying to control would be nearby, and he wouldn't want to risk being too far way and having all his hard work to be ruined. Somewhere in that file is a starting point to look for his hide-out. We find that, we'll find the demon easy enough."

(Then we FITE xD)
Opening the folder once more, he looked at it a bit closer. In all honesty, he’d only been looking for something interesting the first time, so he hadn’t really taken in anything else it had said. “Brooker Street. There’s a cafe with a hangout spot in the basement that’s unmarked. One of those places you have to hear about.” He was familiar with the type. If you didn’t hear about it on the street, you didn’t get to go inside. “The building that was burned down is only two blocks from there, so it’s likely he also takes part in the cafe. Not the smartest, but smart enough.” He had to admit, it was a decent cover up. Then again, he figure if you could only hear about it on the streets, there was a decent chance it was more of a supernatural hang out. One angels and gumiho wouldn’t be caught dead in, as many thought themselves above such a thing. Then again, maybe it just one of those things some high schools started and stuck with after graduation.

(Not if I lose first cause I rely on bluffs xD)
Carter nodded, closing the folder again. “I’m sure some are still talking about it. There’s always one person who runs their mouth too long.” Thats where he got most of his leads. He got people to just keep talking until they slipped up. Sighing lightly, he looked down the road, knowing they’d pretty much only just started the drive. Three hours never felt so long. “I know a girl who frequents the shop - we can start with her if you’d like?” The lupine offered. In reality, she was the connection. One of the people who owed him. Even if she didn’t want to she’d talk or there’d be hell to pay. “I mean, worst case scenario we can just force our way downstairs.” He was only mostly joking. He was no stranger to using brute force, it just wasn’t like him.

(That’s probably the better choice xD)
“Sounds good to me,” the lupine agreed. He hadn’t done any work on the place, but he had briefly lived in the area. The shop had changed owner ship since then, but at the time they’d made the best drinks. The only problem was that the shop was the only thing he actually remembered. He didn’t even recall they house he used to live in, but he knew the shop clear as day. So when Piper requested his presence and chose the shop as a meeting place he was surprised. The woman had wanted to be rid of her brother so that she would inherit her family’s business. Carter has to admit, he heard everything had gone smoothly in the past few years. What she didn’t seem to realize was that he never forgot missed payments. Rather, he kept a log of who paid up and who didn’t. “I’m sure she’ll be over joyed to see me.”
(Guess who just remembered they never did a form for carter)

(I’ll at least get through his full personality after work tonight xD)
Carter nodded. “Alright. Yeah, shouldn’t take more than two hours unless she tries to pull something...” worst case scenario, she wised up and was wearing silver. Best case scenario, she sat down and told him what he wanted without a hitch. He was hoping for the latter. “Everything should go fine enough.”

(Haha I will ^^ especially since my car decided to hate me after work)
“That’s fair,” Carter said. Two hours would definitely be enough time. And if all hell broke loss, well he’d figure it out then. For now, his only concern was making sure Piper didn’t cause a scene. He recalled her as being over dramatic to get her way, so he only hoped she knew he meant business. Call him spoiled, but he was rather used to getting what he wanted. At this point, he was sure this would be no different.
