That Darktail let the Clan cats escape in The Apprentice's Quest so he could track them to the lake? It just seemed like they escaped too easily, seeing how vicious Darktail's gang is.
And the fact that Rain, the supposed "guard" of the Clan cats is still around in Thunder and Shadow must count for something. He was the one who was "sleeping" when the cats escaped.
Thoughts on this?

Ooh nicey. Maybe Rain forgave Needlepaw and decided to give her a chance to escape.

Yeah, that would be likely. Scary too- since if they hadn't thought of tracking them, they could have killed the clan cats right there and ThunderClan would have never known what happened to them all.
Still though, it's exciting because for the first time in a long time, I'm actually terrified of a villain.

Thoughts on this? I think you're right about that. And if that wasn't the case, then I think Darktail would have just killed Rain, because Rain let the cats go. Darktail seems crafty and mysterious.

The cat was actually Raven. And that's possible.
