The day of the meeting, and Alma was atop her preferred horse. The huge stallion was beside Roman's horse, both of them being surrounded by five other guards. Some of the guards' horses were also carrying a small sack of fruit. Alma looked around warily. To keep her word about not knowing the land, she refused to hear anything from her mother and go in just as blind as the others.

Roman kept in formation as well, traveling along side his wife and her horse. The group was rather quiet when needed, only talking and even doing lighthearted songs (like drinking songs) in safe territory. Roman somehow found a balance between having fun and staying serious and on task.

Alma looked as they reached the lake. It was a pretty little setting, with clean water and nothing off. The group stopped just past the treeline, the guards getting off of their horses.

Roman looked around, “it’s pretty. Too bad it’s so dangerous here.” He said, glancing to Alma.

Alma hummed in agreement. "You should see beyond their border, into the mountains. There's a reason people try to claim the land." It was indeed beautiful, but she wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Barnes may have gotten very, VERY lucky that one time, but despite sharing blood with them the idea of encountering them made Alma nervous. "As long as the others don't try sniffing around, they should be fine too."

“We just have to make sure our people are in line.” Roman said. After a short while there the sound of horses approaching. But when Roman looked towards the sound it was obvious that these weren’t just regular horses, but rather a combination of horses and a few different animals. Hakan was traveling behind a large man and a woman who looks like a mutant of sorts, but mainly looked human.

Alma didn't really seem surprised or wary upon seeing the others. Mainly because almost every other living creature besides a human looked, well, somewhat like them in a way. Just not exactly human. "Pleased that you could make it," she said simply. "And I hope you were trusting enough of my word to come straight here."

The man didn’t respond immediately, instead responding to the fact that the animals had ridden in were growling towards the other group, mainly at the horses. They were omnivores so meat was in their diet. He spoke in another language to one of the guard, who quickly went about securing them tightly. As he did this, the woman approached them and did a bow, “please, the pleasure is ours.” She said politely. “My son told us all about you.” She said, her voice having a slight accent.

Alma just studied their mounts, looking them over for a moment before saying "I'm sure he has. We're curious to hear a little bit about you though, considering you wish to provide aid from what he says."

The man joined his wife and bowed as well, reaching a hand to shake Roman and Alma’s. “We do wish to provide you with aid. We have a common enemy after all.” He said, his voice big and deep.

Alma shook his hand. "Of course. We all need to band together for the time being to ensure the best possibility of victory." She looked the other pair over. "I assume you'd want something in turn for helping though. Part of me doubts you'd so graciously just offer your aid, even against the enemy that comes."

“Just connection with you and the other houses after the war. Connections make what a kingdom powerful.” The man said. “But we would also like to share some of your supplies. The cold seasons and terribly hot seasons can be bad on our people’s resources. Things dry out and freeze easy there.”

Alma listened silently. "Your son should've assumed kindness like you do." But no, he had to attempt to steal after killing their people. She was quiet for another moment before saying "We can negotiate sharing our supplies and getting you connected to the other houses if you provide aid to us during the war. However, I assume you don't expect such a process to be easy after my people's first encounter with one of yours."

“Please don’t base your opinions and deals with us off of our son’s foolish behavior.” The woman said, “he was sent to your kingdom for information about your weaponry and pass on the message of our interest in an alliance.” She explained, “yes, he was told that if others harmed him he could harm them back. It’s self defense. But we do not support this thievery. He should know better than to stoop so low.”

Alma arched a brow. "I assume your son learns from his people. You don't become what you are just by being born. You learn things, and are formed by what you are exposed to. And, he is the only witness to what actually happened before he slaughtered our people. For all we know, he could get his kicks from killing regardless if the opposer was trying to be lethal or not." She smiled slightly. "We don't know anything about you, and your first impression is thievery and death. Now, that is nothing new to me but that doesn't mean I'll welcome you with open arms. If anything, Bryghtwood should be calling for his head more than anything. However, my husband and I have better things to do than throw dust in the eye like you have before today." She paused for a another moment. "Your son spoke highly of his home, as vague as he was. What specifically would you bring in aid to us?"

“You wouldn’t want to kill him. Our forces are much larger than yours.” The woman said simply. The man then said, “trust me. We are just like your people in our ways. You’d be surprised.” The man said. He then said, “we can offer you power, and our numbers. Also a safe haven of spurts if retreat becomes necessary.”

Alma gave a rather crooked smile. "I see. However, we won't get into it for now." She was about to say something else when she was interrupted by chirping. It was a rather pretty tune, like some of the birds she'd heard on the way there. Her demeanor didn't really change, but she ran a hand through her short hair, something she did when she was nervous. "Your protection would be appreciated, and I will see to it that the other houses meet with you for specific resources."

Roman picked up on Alma’s signals and became more aware himself. “If you will be our safe haven I think we must learn protocol on your land so your people aren’t confused or afraid.” Roman said. The woman and man nodded.

Alma nodded in agreement to this. "He's right. It's best our people learn soon so there's no complications if we actually end up there." Part of her was relieved to be making a little progress with these people, but she was still suspicious of them.

The man nodded, “than that will be arranged.” He said. “We should do the same for you, but your kingdom would suffer with our numbers added on.”

Alma shrugged slightly. "Perhaps if the other houses opened their lands to you, your people could but that would likely not come to be. At least not for a while." She then heard movement, and warily looked around.

“I see. That is why we are starting with just one.” The man said. He then looked around, “Is something wrong?” He asked, glancing around. The creatures that had been tied to a nearby tree began to growl softly, getting in a defensive position around one another. “What is it?” Roman asked his wife softly.

Alma studied the treeline. "I assume your son mentioned that this place had other inhabitants. Deadlock Mountains' actual border is just a few miles back that way, but that doesn't necessarily mean this area isn't theirs either..."

“Yes, we are aware... I just wouldn’t think you’d bring us to a land where we could all be killed this easily since we are all leaders of our kingdoms. A kingdom without a ruler is a dead one.” The man said, “I suppose it was foolish for us to think such safety would be arranged.” He looked to Alma and Roman again. Roman didn’t say anything, being just as in the dark as they were. The woman then bared her sharp, bear like fangs as she said, “this better not be a trap. We’ve looked into you and we know your past.” She said. She growled as the man out a hand on his wife’s leg to tell her to remain calm. She did lower her guard at this luckily.

Alma raised a brow. "Oh? There's nothing much you found in detail then, except for my father's Bryghtwood lineage. Anything else is essentially nonexistent, unless you kidnapped my mother and questioned her." It was no secret Magna was from Deadlock Mountains, and Alma of course had told Roman, but the folk there were tight-lipped about it all to those who were not from or related to someone from there. "In a way, I'm as in the dark as you are. And, I did state to your son that this area essentially guaranteed no safety." She heard the whistles again. "My mother taught me basics though, because to keep tradition from new blood allows it to die out. And the one thing she always told me was to know your place when on their land." She looked to the side as something appeared. A bipedal form, emerging from the treeline out of seemingly nowhere. At first glance, it looked to be covered in fur, but that was actually a cover of armor underneath as it straightened up. Bones also served as plating among critical parts of the figure, melded into the metal, with a mask made out of a skull covering the face aside from the eyes of course.

The guard on both sides took out weapons. Roman and the man waved them off though. The man spoke in another language to his guards to tell them to be ready to draw fast though if needed. “Should have come our land. We’d Probably be having a nice meal right now.” Hakan told the others quietly. Both of his parents paid him no mind though, just looking to the ground ahead of them.

Alma smiled slightly. "It'll be a ways before we share a table together. A few days isn't enough for us to completely toss out the fact you killed some of our people." She kept her eye on the new arrival though, watching their careful movements as they studied the group. She could tell that the figure was already examining them. They continued to whistle as they walked a slow circle around both groups. The guards fidgeted as the figure walked right up to the leaders of both sides, circling them once as well, even sniffing at them.

Both the king and queen ignored the other creature, though they were alert. “Back to business. I want to get this done and over with soon.” The man said. “What were saying before?” He looked to Roman and Alma calmly and curiously. Hakan looked nervous though. The man nodded as young, only in his late teen or twenties. He looked older than he was.

Alma opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by the other individual. They spoke, but in another language. Now, Magna had taught Alma some of the language, but the current queen was still shit at it. She thought for a moment before attempting to speak back, feeling nervous when she had to pause multiple times and felt the other individual's eyes narrow slightly. Though it was more out of impatience than anything.
