Nim read about how after the Guides made the first sun, it broke apart and popped into tons of small pieces. And each little bits of the sun that hit various elements grew and evolved into bodies and flesh, accidentally creating dozens of species all at once. "I had a feeling the first sun wouldn't last, though you and Uma were busy elsewhere when it happened I think."

Dakota opened his eyes and tilted his head, “huh, I’ve never heard that one. We must have been.” He said. Uma and Dakota often partnered in their duties due to both of their teachings being the social and mental aspect of the kingdoms.

Nim smiled a little. "I thought you would've asked when I told you two we had to make a new sun." He chuckled a little before continuing to read, how dragons were chaotic and fractured and the Guides had to rein them in. At least they'd all been around for that.

Dakota shrugged, “I don’t know. You didn’t seem too worried... so I left it.” He then listened to the story with interest despite being there.

Nim continued reading the story until he got to the end of the long chapter. "Next one delves into the specific clans. Or I can pick another book."

Dakota was listening calmly, “I’ll listen to whatever. It’s very interesting when you read it. And soothing.” He said softly before burying his head into his feathers, “it’s your choice.”

Dakota remained quiet for a long while. But he was thinking hard about everything, and his feelings for Nim. Finally, Dakota looked up, “uh.. Nim?”

Nim had still been reading, but paused when Dakota spoke. "Yes, Dakota?" He turned his large head to look back at him, an ear twitching once.

Dakota studied Nim’s features, seeing what he felt. The flutter was enough of a confirmation. “I...I think I love you... which is weird because it’s a human construct not made for me..”

Nim blinked once, ears angling back a little. "Oh, um..." He looked nervous now, shy even. "I... d-do you mean it?" His gaze almost looked hopeful.

Nim smiled a little. "I just... it's surprising to hear you say that you feel that way about me..." There were tons of creatures around, yet Dakota felt love for him.

Dakota frowned a little, shyly hiding away in his feathers, “I know it’s so stupid. I’m spending too much time as a human. I’m sorry I should have told you now it’s awkward.” He put a wing over his white feathered head.

“I think... more than friends with benefits.” Dakota decided, “if you’re okay with that.” They could either be mates or just partners for now. It was up to Nim.

Nim flattened his ears in embarrassment. "... would you like to... um... do the claiming part?" Nim enjoyed being on top, but he preferred being the bottom honestly. Not that they couldn't switch in the future.

Dakota nodded, “I would love to. When should we do this though. And should we do it in human form or in one of our natural forms.” Doing it in human form wouldn’t be as natural for mating but it is what they had been doing so far.

Nim felt his cheeks heat up. "Well, u-um... the b-bond would be more natural in one of our natural forms...." None of which looked even remotely human, humans having been one of their latest creations.

Dakota got up and hopped a few paces away, “okay. When are we doing this? And are we doing as tigers or eagles?” He asked, “or something else? We just aren’t the most physically compatible in these forms.”

Dakota sighed before turning into a tiger, “let’s use yours. I want to see your natural handsome face when I claim you~” he purred as he stretched a little. He then walked forward and nuzzled Nim a little.
