That's what I was thinking as well, but I thought I'd double check. XD
Tori could have made a joke about stalking, but decided against it. In her current state of tiredness, she doubted it would translate well through signs. So, instead, she just nodded. You're more than welcome to show up. I could use backup if Mal springs anymore surprises she hasn't warned me of, she signed. Of course, he would be around anyway, might as well tell him he could be a part of it if he wanted to. Might need to make a hasty escape. How good are you at faking a kidnapping?

At the moment when Ren looked away from her, Tori felt the presence of the demons. She didn't glance their way, however, knowing if she did, the panic would start to kick in. It was threatening to rise now, but being so close to her home and with Ren standing between her and them, it wasn't as bad as it normally was. While she wasn't so sure about the sweet dreams part, the woman nodded in response. She would have signed a farewell in return, but he had already shifted his attention to the demons. His wings suddenly appeared and stretched out, blocking her view of what might lie beyond him. For a moment, she just kind of stared, still unsure if this was all real. Ren certainly looked like something out of a dream.
Snapping herself from her thoughts, Tori turned and hurried inside. Whatever would happen on the street was best not witnessed, even if she had seen him fight a couple of times before. She didn't like the feeling of being useless. If she watched him, then she would want to help, and there was really nothing she could do. So, she found safety behind the closed door of her home, kicked off her shoes, and sighed heavily. AS she walked towards the kitchen, she rubbed her eyes, hoping it'll help keep them open for a little while longer as she figures out what dinner will be.

Okay!
Seven o'clock in the morning rolled around, announced by the harsh ringing of her alarm. It was silenced promptly by a barely awake Tori. She didn't show any signs of rolling out of bed, and, in fact, looked like she could easily fall asleep any second. Seven thirty brought with it another round of the obnoxiously lough blaring from her bedside table, as did eight o'clock, and eight thirty. Her online class didn't really have a specific time for her to begin, but she generally liked to be up by nine, which gave her plenty of time to do some homework before heading into work. Yet the girl just couldn't pull herself out of the grogginess she found herself in.
With everything that had happened in the past few days, Tori had decided that maybe taking a couple of sleeping pills would help her catch up on the sleep she had missed. Or, at the very least, revive her enough to get through until the weekend. It actually had the opposite affect. Not only did the pills tend to make her lucid dreams worse, but they were horrible about wearing off in a timely manner. Whenever she took them, it was a challenge waking the next day and sapped the will she needed to get a start on things. She knew she had things to get done, but the restless night she had wasn't helping. If anything, it only made her bed that much more comfortable. So when her alarm went off again at nine, she didn't even bother trying to turn it off. It was go off eventually. Either that, or Mal would hear it and come to turn it off. She didn't really care one way or the other.

But it wasn't Mal who eventually marched in to shut off the alarm. It was Ren. As far as he knew, Mal hadn't returned last night. Ren hadn't been able to pay much attention — demon slaying kind of took up the majority of his focus — but he was pretty sure she didn't return. But considering the secretive date Ian had taken her on the night before, Ren wasn't really surprised. He didn't really expect to see her until much later in the day. If he saw her at all.
Like last night, Ren spent the dark hours fighting demons. There were more of them than the previous night, and as a result, there were more close calls. None got within ten feet of Tori's house, but in order to make sure that happened, Ren got a little more beat up than he normally did. There were several minor scratches and claw marks on his hands and arms, one long scratch across the back of his right calf, and a single claw mark across his cheek — that had been a purely lucky shot.
But those were all minor, and already healing nicely as he wandered about Tori's house, waiting for her to wake up. Like last night, what demons hadn't been slain had retreated with the dawn. Part of him had wanted to pursue them, but the rest knew he should take this opportunity to heal while he could. Especially since there was one wound that was a bit more concerning than the others: a long, deep gouge on his side, from just below his armpit, down his side, and then across his stomach almost to his bellybutton. A hellhound had done the damage, tearing right through his armour to inflict it. The wound was wrapped, but along his side where it was deepest, he could still feel it leaking blood. This wound would take much longer to heal than the rest. Which sucked, because he didn't have that kind of time.
By the time Tori's alarm went off and continued, unimpeded, Ren had heard it sound and be shut off twice before. Now, the continuous sound of it annoyed him at first, but then concerned him. Why wasn't Tori shutting it off? His first thought was that a demon had snuck in, but he didn't sense any demonic presence. Still, he wasn't going to risk waiting around to see.
So he marched to her door, sword and wings suddenly on full display, and barged right in.

Tori heard the sound of someone walking to her room, but the footsteps were heavier and held more purpose than Mal's usually did. Sure enough, when she forced one eye open and turned her head towards the door, she saw Ren, swings and swords on full display. Well, that got her attention. She was currently lying on her stomach, face previous been buried in her pillow. Turning over onto her side, she signed, What are you doing? She wasn't really concerned by the sight of him with his sword drawn and looking ready to fight. No, she was more confused than anything.

"No, probably not," he agreed. He placed his hand on her forehead lighyly, and then his palm filled with warmth. He kept it that way for only a few seconds, but the warmth spread quickly, and where it went, the fog in her mind dissipated. By the time he lifted his hand, she should have felt better than ever. Mentally, at least, she would feel well-rested for a few hours at least. "There. Better?"

Ren chuckled. "Right. Well, in the books, the demigods have something called ambrosia, which is god food that acts as a powerful healer for the children of the gods. It can heal anything. But like everything great, there's a catxh: if you eat too much, you'll burn up and die. Or, well, the demigods will. In the book. You know what I mean. Anyway, my point is: my power is like the ambrosia. Great for small things occasionally, but if used too much, too often, it could prove deadly."

Tori nodded slightly. So he wouldn't be able to do it whenever she wanted. A hope had sparked that maybe something had presented itself that would cure her of her problems, but it was just like any other solution. She could understand why it was so, but she didn't quiet know how it was deadly. Just once and the woman was already thinking of how she could replace her meds with whatever Ren had done, to help her act more normal then she felt in a very long time. But he had low key told her he couldn't, or wouldn't, do it often.
Pushing herself into a sitting position, she ran a hand through her tangled hair, not to control it but as a way to stall while she gathered her thoughts. She did feel a lot better, more productive. She would need all of that to get through her class, so she needed to get up. Thank you, she signed sincerely. Now, go so I can get ready. If I won't be this clear minded again, then I need to get stuff done while I have it.

Ren stood and left without a word, to wait for her in the kitchen. He didn't like how disappointed she seemed at not being able to use his powers to sleep better and feel more focused. She shouldn't need to feel that way. She should never have been brought so low by the demons, or the people around her. Why hadn't her last Guardian done something to help her? His job had not just been to keep her alive... had it?
That was the main focus of any Guardian: keep your charge alive. But Ren had always believed there was more to it than that. Always fighting to keep the demons away, yeah, that was a big part of the job. But demons weren't the only dangers a Descendant faced. Heck, even normal, everyday dangers that all mortals faced wasn't all there was. Descendants often faced loneliness, depression, fierce anxiety; many went through life believing they were crazy, or schizophrenic. And they weren't. Why should they have to live as though they were?
That wasn't living at all, not really, and it was why Ren broke the rules so often. Why he revealed himself to and befriended so many of his past charges. Granted, he had never revealed what he was before now, but at least he'd done something. It was more than a lot of Guardians — including Tori's first, apparently — did to protect their charge.

Tori waited until Ren was out of the room before getting out of bed. It was surprising at how easy the simple task was. Briefly, she wondered if this was how everyone else was able to wake in the morning. If it was, then she could see how Mallory was able to maintain her bright and cheery demeanor all the time. It was nice. Grabbing a clean pair of clothes, she changed out of her pajama's. Then she headed to the bathroom to finish up. When she came downstairs, she was dressed a little nicer than normal. Instead of a band t-shirt, she had a more flowier top, a gift from Mal, in a dark blue, jeans, and she had taken the time to apply eye liner as well. Not an artist with make-up, it was the best she could do without her friend around to advice/do it for her. Her steps were also a little lighter, seeming to actually be walking instead of shuffling about. The first place she headed was to the kitchen. Preparing a quick bowl of cereal, she then proceeded to find where she had left her laptop.

Tori had gotten a good deal of her homework in the time she started. It helped that she was able to focus on the videos and textbook reading a lot more. Her notes were organized and she seemed to be more notes in general. The information she retained was more understandable. Perhaps it was due to Ren's study techniques, or just because she felt willing to read. At the sound of his voice, she looked up to find him in the middle of the living room. She herself sat on the sofa, legs crossed, laptop in her lap, and textbook to her right. It's going really well actually, she replied, a small smile tugging her lips upwards. Still not my favorite subject, but it's no terrible at the moment. Where have you been?
