Kestrelstar waited a few more heartbeats for the cats to come forward and sit. When he thought he had most of their attention he cleared his throat and began to speak once more "It appears we are losing our Hunter's deputy, Silversnout, today. It is her wish to finally settle down among the elders in their den and rest. Due to this, it is time I find a new a new hunter's deputy. I will talk with Frostclaw and Fuzzymoon about what they think about this. Until then, let's honor the many moons Silversnout has given us. I pray Starclan gives you several more." He once more dipped his head to his, now, former hunter's deputy. He seemed a bit sad at this prospect to lose her, especially during a time where prey was growing more and more scarce for the clan. He turned his head to the cats and tipped his head up. "The meeting is dismissed, if anyone wants to say something to Silversnout feel free." He turned around and made his back towards his nest now, letting the leaves devour him from behind.

[ Sorry. I am trying to multitask while watching Brooklyn 99 on my phone and playing fornite. the odds are not in my favor. ]
Poppyleaf & Serinpaw with Adderbite / Lycaonia
Poppyleaf flashed Adderbite a friendly smile as the tom sat down with them. "Hello," she meowed, tilting her head slightly. Her gaze flickering over towards the energetic she-cat besides her. She flickered her tail across Serinpaw's shoulder in a faint attempt to get her to settle for a moment. Poppyleaf's gaze flickered towards Krestelstar and Silversnout. She frowned for a moment, it was hard to step down from one's former position. She loved being a Scouter and being out of camp among the trees. Sometimes she didn't feel as valued as she used.
"Adderbite!" Serinpaw grinned as she spotted her mentor heading their way. She shuffled instinctively towards him before she bumped into her grandmother. She cast the elder a bashful look before sitting down. She could sit closer with her mentor later. She was still shifting on her hind legs while she sat, she couldn't help but be restless. They were probably going to go out and learn something new today. "Of course!" she purred, her eyes bright with excitement. "What are we going to do today?" she managed to get out before Krestelstar started the meeting. Her gaze flickered over towards Silversnout as she watched Krestelstar announce that she was going to go into retirement. "Oh maybe you will become the new hunter deputy," she mused, although it was quite obvious that Serinpaw idolized her mentor.
(adderbite is going to be the best thing since sliced bread in serinpaw's eyes. xD)

Raggedfinch leaped from one branch to another, his claws scraping the tree bark as he went. He held a single mouse from his jaws. He couldn't help but dishearten by his catch. 'I wonder where the prey is at,' he frowned. It had taken him a long time to just find this one mouse. It wasn't much but he figured Softflower or one of the elders would appreciate it.
Raggedfinch landed on one of the camp's branches as he heard Krestelstar's call. His ears perked forward as he swiftly made his way to drop the mouse off at the fresh-kill pile. He sighed at the sight of it before scrambling over and finding an empty spot. His pale green eyes flickered towards Silversnout and he felt a pang of sadness. He would miss his patrols with her.
- -
Elmwhisker let out a soft yawn as Krestelstar dismissed the meeting. His eyes strayed over towards Silversnout and then back to where he could now see Krestelstar's tail disappearing behind the leaves. 'It was only a matter of time,' he mused, remembering when his own mother retired. His gaze started towards Poppyleaf as his thoughts drifted to her. His whiskers twitched as he spotted the shifting Serinpaw besides her. At least his mother had patience, he could only handle so much of Serinpaw at the moment. He really hoped she would grow into a mature feline sooner than later.

Iceheart twitched in relief, before huffing out a sad breath. As a Scouter, she didn't have much interaction with Silversnout beyond the once a moon switch, but the older she-cat had always been a bit easier to deal with than her sibling for most cats. Not that Iceheart could say much about Frostclaw's demeanour, given her own. Shaking her head, the she-cat nimbly made her way over to the ex-deputy. "Silversnout," She greeted the now Elder respectfully, "I wish to say thank you for your service to the Clan. You will be sorely missed among the Hunter's ranks, though I'm sure future kits will be glad of the stories and wisdom you will be able to provide them."
"I'll let you know," Wolfpaw promised solemnly, following Fuzzymoon over to the gathering and listening intently to the news of Silversnout's retirement. Wolfpaw had never really spoken to the newly made Elder before, but she was sad for the slight bit of extra pressure it would put on the Clan for a bit. She had overheard more than one discussion going on about the sudden lack of prey in the territory and the time it took for a new Hunter's Deputy to grow used to the role wasn't going to help. Shaking off the melancholy thoughts, she tilted her head and murmured softly, "I wonder who StarClan will choose as the new Deputy."
Adderbite chuckled at Serinpaw's enthusiasm, shaking his head. "While it would indeed be an honour to serve my Clan in such a way," He meowed, amusement lightening his voice and fondness played over his features, "I might be a little young for the position just yet. Your father's a more likely prospect, Raggedfinch always was a bit of a leader." His tail swayed calmly, showing off how little the prospect of loosing out the position to his Apprentice's father bothered him. Adderbite vaguely wanted to be Hunter Deputy one day, but felt it unlikely at his age. In any case, he was very much an 'If it happens, it happens and no point fussing if it doesn't' kind of cat. He'd be happy with his life either way. "As for today," He continued thoughtfully, eyes drifting over Camp, "I was going to ask Silversnout if she needed anything done, but how about we go congratulate her on her retirement, then see if any of the other Hunters are up for a big group hunt? I think it's about time we see how you take to hunting on the ground."
Finchpaw huffed out a startled breath, claws digging into his branch as a warm weight knocked into him. His surprised eyes met Skypaw's, only to blink in confusion as the younger tom squeaked, apologised and hurried away. Finchpaw felt his ears warm slightly, causing him to huff in embarrassment and shake the feeling off, continuing to the gathering. He tried to catch Skypaw's eye, wanting to reassure the usually nervous Apprentice that he wasn't mad about the slight accident since he rushed off so quickly. He waved his tail at the other tom, smiling brightly.

Fuzzymoon sat beside her apprentice and watched as Silversnout was retired to the medicine den, and she smiled. She had served so many moons, the rest she would get was well-deserved. However, this meant they'd have to find a new hunter's deputy soon and, while she had been told of Silversnout's retirement early on by StarClan, they hadn't told her who would replace her. She flicked her ear as Wolfpaw spoke. "Me too," she murmured back, then rose her voice again. "Well, do you have anything to wish to Silversnout before we get to work today?"
--
Skypaw listened intently to the meeting, but a movement in the corner of his eye caught his attention. He turned and looked back up to the branch he had left Finchpaw in. The tom smiled and waved his tail at him, but it only made his face heat up even more. It was still so embarrassing! Although, it was good to know that Finchpaw didn't seem to care. He had always been kind to Skypaw since he joined the apprentices a couple of moons ago, and he thought he was working up the courage to talk to him casually, but apparently not.
--
Softflower glanced over at Badgercall as Kestrelstar made the announcement, worry glazing over her features. "But who will be the new hunter's deputy?" she asked, eyes wide as she looked at her mate. Kestrelstar hadn't announced anyone new, only Silversnout's retirement; who was going to lead the hunting patrols today? "How long does this normally take?" She knew Badgercall probably didn't have the answer either, as neither of them were born into the Clan, but she certainly would rather ask him these questions than Kestrelstar himself.

Raggedfinch & Curlypaw / ☾ѕησσzє☽
Raggedfinch pushed himself to his paws. He figured he should say something to the former hunter deputy, she had been a huge part of his life at least. His whiskers twitched at the thought of Silversnout being replaced, it somewhat bothered him. She had been in the background of the all of the hunter's training, at least since he has been an apprentice. He felt like that moons ago, exactly 22 moons since he received his name.
He paused for a moment as he heard a voice echo through the trees, His gaze flickered over towards Curlypaw and he let out a small chuckle, as he watched the scouter apprentice scramble around the trees. "Patience Curlypaw," he meowed with amusement lacing his voice. He could remember the days where he wanted to do everything at one time. "We will have a patrol around soon," he meowed, somewhat absently to her. With Silversnout retiring, he figured it would fall onto her brother Frostclaw to execute the hunting patrols now.

Serinpaw & Adderbite / Lycaonia
Serinpaw's gaze flickered around her clanmates as she listened to her mentor speak. Her chest felt warm, hearing Adderbite's amusement in his voice. At least he thought she was funny. She was happy that Krestelstar paired them together, they were a good team. "You can do anything you set your mind to," she meowed fiercely with a swish of her tail. Determination was key to life. She shrugged her shoulders as her gaze flickered over towards her father, she honestly never thought of her father like that. He was just her dad in Serinpaw's eyes. He was always encouraging to her but somewhat firm, like that one time she told him that she thought she could jump from one branch to another in one of the highest trees in the forest, even though it was apparent she could probably fall to her death or something bad like that. It was probably the only time her dad yelled at her.
Her blue gaze brightened as she scrambled to her paws, all ready to go. "We haven't hunted on the ground in forever!," she breathed with excitement. Adderbite showed her how to do a hunter couch on the forest floor but they only spent like a day on that moons ago. She took a small breath, reveling in her excitement. "Of course, we should totally do that" she meowed with a bright smile, "Lets go talk to Silversnout right now," she purred, already leaping over towards another branch in a hurry to get to the former hunter's deputy.

Blizzardfang || Hunter || no apprentice || Kits: Birdpaw and Hazelpaw The stalky tom padded through the camp, having heard the announcement of a change in the hierarchy of the clan. He had always admired the hunter's deputy, even idolized him. He padded over to the fresh kill pile, sort of keeping to himself. He still wasn't sure who hated him for what they perceived as him betraying the clan by having kits with a kittypet, even though it was still many moons ago. He picked a robin from the top of the pile and sat by himself to eat it, looking around to see if maybe his kits would want to join him.
Birdpaw || Hunter apprentice || mentor?? || Littermate: Hazelpaw Birdpaw sat behind the apprentice's den together, hiding from their fellow apprentices. The two kept to themselves mostly, though they tried to make friends. Nobody was that accepting of them yet, but they were optimistic that the clan would see that they were just as much clan as the next cat, and that they belonged there. They were confident that the clan was coming around. At least, Birdpaw was. She thought her sister was on the same page too, but as they sat behind the den talking, she became more and more unsure.
Hazelpaw || Scout apprentice || mentor?? || Littermate: Birdpaw Hazelpaw sat with her sister behind the apprentice's den. They were talking about hunting together, though they didn't even really train together very often as they were training for two different positions in the clan. She knew her sister was confident about this clan liking them eventually, but Hazelpaw didn't really see it happening anytime soon. She was content to just deal with that fact and do her best to show them she belonged, but deep down she doubted she ever would. The she-cat gazed toward the entrance of camp, wondering what maybe their mother or littermates were up to.

Raggedfinch and Curlypaw / ☾ѕησσzє☽
Raggedfinch let out a low chuckle at Curlypaw's exasperated tone. His green eyes falling as she fall dramatically down to another branch and tumbling around. His whiskers twitched in amusement at her energy. "It is a possibility," he mused, purposely being vague. Apprentices could be the worst gossipers. Krestelstar hasn't made an official state about the rogues becoming a huge problem yet. Not since the tusstle from many moons ago. "Are you all caught up on your training?" he asked with bright eyes. Duskwhisker always seemed like a formidable warrior, even though he seemed more on the reserved side.

((Sorry for the posting lag XP I've got a weird swelling in my jaw and it's been pretty painful >.>))
Wolfpaw shifted slightly, frowning in thought. "I don't really know Silversnout," She murmured, peeking at the new Elder, "But maybe when we get back and she's all settled, I cold bring her some prey or a few soft leaves for her nest and introduce myself properly?" Elders were one of the groups they checked daily and it would be nice to be on good terms with the newest one. Standing and shaking out her pelt, she gave Fuzzymoon a small smile. "So I'm good to go," She meowed, tail flicking with excitement, "What do we have to do today?"
"Easy there," Adderbite meowed as he followed his Apprentice, "The ground isn't going anywhere. Not to mention we'll have to see who's available, we might even have to borrow one of the Scouters." His face was serious as they approached Silversnout. "Ground hunting is dangerous, especially for us," He rumbled, ears flicking back, "We aren't used to it, but with the lack of prey recently it's something we'll have to get used to, at least until the birds return."
Iceheart's ear flicked back, hearing two important things at once. More cats approaching Silversnout and Kestrelstar speaking to the Scouters. Part of her wanted to curl up and ignore it, but with a heavy sigh, she got to her paws. "I'll see you later, Silversnout," She rumbled and turned away, nodding to Adderbite and Serinpaw as she returned to the Scouter's Tree. She moved deftly over the branches, coming up beside Kestrelstar. "If you need volunteers," She meowed, face as emotionless as usual, "I would be glad to join you."

"That'd be great, I need as many scouters as Frostclaw can spare, I don't know how this will pan out." He shift his weight from one to another, letting himself relax for a moment. The scouters were trained in combat, he was too. They would be able to handle something like this, as long as the hunter's stayed away from the outskirts today.."Frostclaw, if possible I want you to make sure that no Hunter patrols go to the outskirts, tell them to try out the Bird's Roost again." He had the thought idea over in his head the night before, it would be okay for them to go there as long as Frostclaw sent two scouters with them at least.

Serinpaw & Adderbite / Lycaonia
Serinpaw rolled her eyes at Adderbite's lame dad joke as they got closer to congrating the old deputy. "We can take Elmwhisker! Oh or Iceheart!" she chatter away brightly as she saw the white feline. She flickered her tail back in greeting. She was ready to go, hopefully it wouldn't take Adderbite too long to find someone. She shrugged her shoulders as he talked about how ground hunting was dangerous. It was something new but she was sure that they could adapt easily if they needed to be.
Raggedfinch & Curlyplaw / ☾ѕησσzє☽
Raggedfinch gazed at Curlypaw with kind eyes and couldn't help but let out a small murrow of laughter at the apprentice's high spirits. "That is great Curlyplaw," he grinned, he knew what she was talking about. It was hard at first to learn how to open up all your senses especially when you were up in the trees. There was so much leaves and other things to focus on. He flickered the she-cat's shoulder as she seemed to slump away from him. "It is alright," he cooed at her in a smoothing voice. "Pracitce makes perfect... soon you will be one of the best scouters in the clan," Raggedfinch encouraged with a warm purr.
Elmwhisker & Kestrelstar, Flamepaw, Iceheart
Elmwhisker tore his eyes away from the most recent member of the elder's den and glanced around his clanmates. He noticed that Kestrelstar was heading over towards the Scouter's Den. His green eyes narrowed before he pushed himself onto his paws, trotting over there with purpose. He figured it had to be about the increased activity among the territory. The forest was not quiet, like it usually is. His gaze flickered over towards Iceheart and noticing the young apprentice standing in front of her. His whiskers twitched at the young tom's word. 'He has pluck' he mused inwardly, his gaze raking the apprentice's form 'I will give him that'. He personally wouldn't bring an apprentice of 8 moons but he also wasn't going to give his input either. "I will join your patrol as well," Elmwhisker meowed once the Kestrelstar was done speaking.

(Sorry for disappearing guys! I'm back now.)
Silversnout purred at Iceheart's words. "Thank you, my dear," she meowed. "You're too kind."
A few more cats came to congratulate her on her retirement, and she meowed her thanks to each one until Kestrelstar began announcing the scouter's patrols. Her ears twitched in surprise, and she longed to voice her opinions - but she was an elder now, not a deputy, and she would keep her own counsel unless someone asked for it.

Frostclaw had been completely blindsided by their sister's retirement. It took them several minutes to reorient themselves to this new world where Silversnout wasn't at their side constantly, confiding her worries in them and offering support when they needed it.
By the time they'd unstuck themselves long enough to hold a conversation, Kestrelstar was staring at them intently. "...yes," they managed, hastily rewinding the last minute or so to remember what was being asked. "Right," they meowed, more confidently this time. Bird's Roost, they reminded themself, making a mental note to send out the hunter patrols as well until Kestrelstar had appointed Silversnout's replacement.
Two patrols would do it, one scouter each, in adjacent areas. "I'll join you as well, once I've sorted out the rest of the patrols," they added, not wanting to be left out of whatever this business with the rogues was. Raggedfinch and Littleleaf, plus Littleleaf's apprentice - send Elmwhisker with them.
Then Elmwhisker volunteered for Kestrelstar's patrol. "Just don't take all the scouters with you," they said a trifle grumpily, casting a frustrated look out at the gathering crowd. Alderbite and Branchclaw to the area around the Seeing Tree, taking Raintail with them. Frostclaw had scented some prey in the area the previous day and hoped it had stuck around.

Frostclaw grunted skeptically. They were always skeptical, no matter how much experience Kestrelstar had or how reasonably he spoke - Frostclaw and skepticism went together like clouds and rain.
"Elmwhisker," he meowed, turning to the scouter, "take Raggedfinch and Littleleaf out hunting. Keep them from going near the meadow for now, try the Roost. Raintail -" Frostclaw looked around for the grey-furred scouter. "Where is Raintail -"
