The Isle of the Lost was introduced, twenty years ago, as a way to detain all the "villains" of the land. The storybook kingdom of Auradon had just been created, and the land of good cannot house any evil. And so, the villains were dumped on a rock in the ocean and the two groups lived without contact for all this time.
But the land of the heroes has it's own skeletons in the closet...
It was ruled that the sins of the villains were unforgivable, crimes against goodness and humanity, and they deserved the strictest of punishments -- no magic, living off of garbage, and essentially trapped with hundreds of other cutthroats that would sooner end them than assist them -- but that was then, and this is now. Now the answer is a little more...complicated.
The villains had children. And now it's a source of controversy on whether or not their spawn deserve the same punishment as their parents. They were innocent children once, but 20 years is 20 years, under the influence of their parents.
As a response to the crisis (and possibly to save face), King Beast sent his own daughter, Billy, to the Isle, along with the children of other heroes, to check out the situation in a less hostile manner.
In Guiding Light, follow Billy and her second in command, Maggie, as they arrive on the Isle and discuss what they're going to do about this mission. Meanwhile, trouble's stirring on the Isle as news quickly spreads about the fresh meat, and the Isle's three leaders -- Collie de Vil, Elijah Grimhilde, and Sanura Negasi -- quickly counter with a plan of their own.

Lore
This is a map of the Isle. Serpent Prep is run by the pirate crew, while they hold most of Wharf Town. Witch School's coven and Dragon Hall's mafia split the town in half. The Outlands are fair game, but sort of a no-man's land as far as gangs wanting to take it over.
The Gangs
Three gangs control the Isle, not counting the adults: the coven, the mafia, and the pirate crew. While they haven't been in direct competition in a while, there's still a slight competitive streak between their three leaders.
The Mafia
Formed to give the students of Dragon Hall a way to survive and fight back against the adults, the mafia controls the part of town furthest away from the docks. They run and frequent areas like the Onyx, the Sanguine, Dragon Hall's actual school, and Hell Hall. They're the most...business-like gang, owning locations that help earn their money. Dragon Hall is mostly comprised of animal-born students or humans that don't have any connection to magic.
Ranks
The mafia leadership is separated into two groups: one of three -- the administration (boss, underboss, consigliere), and the four capos (each in charge of a separate racket and facet of business), while their soldiers are divided up into four rackets depending on what business they want to take part in: running the club, Sanguine, working at the restaurant, the Onyx, selling Night Howler, or offering "protection" to adult shopkeepers in return for money.
The Pirate Crew
The pirate crew was formed for two reasons -- protection against the kakamora that infest the docks, and friendship. They control Wharf Town and all the ships that come in, giving them easy access to the docks and shipments of garbage supplies coming in from Auradon, which they then distribute to the other kids of the Isle. In their free time, they wrestle sharks for fun and to show off. Like the mafia, they take in mostly animals and humans, without many kids of magical origins. They just have a different aesthetic.
Ranks
Much less...complicated in structure than the other two gangs, the pirates only have four ranks -- their captain, their first mate, their second mate, and then the two people in charge of guarding the esteemed Halushie.
The Coven
Formed to (theoretically) study magic together and protect one another, Witch School's coven is almost entirely composed of magical individuals. They control the stretch of town between the other two gangs, and are often the ones found keeping the peace. They created the Court of Miracles in some catacombs beneath the island, an underground marketplace where many things can be found, sold by many of the coven members.
Ranks
The coven's lead, immediately, by either a High Priest or High Priestess, while Third Degree mages and the Council advise them. Elders are older members of the coven with a lot of experience, while Second and First Degree (descending) mages are still sort of learning the ropes. Neophytes are the youngest members of the coven, just starting out in their education.

Promo Posters
It's gonna take me a little bit to get the first chapter up, while I figure out how I want it to work, so to give y'all something to do (thanks for your patience!) while you wait, I'm going to occasionally release promo posters for the comic itself. These posters are going to include a picture and some codes for y'all to work on, and a short bio for the characters shown in it. They're not going to be released in order of appearance, but every character that gets a promo will appear in Guiding Light. I'll probably include their introductory chapter in the bios beneath them.
Sooo...have fun decoding them and meeting the characters!
Promo #1 -- A Gift : Bellamy "Billy" Bête
The independent and capable daughter of Belle and Beast*, Billy's been chosen by her father to lead the expedition onto the Isle of the Lost. Although she isn't exactly chomping at the bit to come to the Isle, she's still determined to ensure this mission's success, possibly to spite her father, or possibly with a change of heart. She has her own suspicions on the King's motives for sending her to the Isle. She has a bit of a rebellious spirit, but still somehow manages to remain the sensible mind within the chaos when grouped with her friends. (16 years old)

Promo #2 -- The Guide : Elijah "Eli" Grimhilde
The generous and charming High Priest of the Witch School Coven, Eli is a gentleman, and the first man to go to when it comes to the rights of the Isle kids. He's sent letters to mainland for years now, only to never get any form of reply until the Auradon transfers showed up on the docks at random. A natural leader, he tends to fall into first place when it comes to major plans, whether it involves the coven or his own multitude of siblings. He's the oldest of three triplets from the Evil Queen and her Huntsman, and the second oldest out of all of the Queen's assorted children. (17 years old)

Sorry for the wait, everyone! I'm working as hard as I can on the comic, I've just had to put a lot of overtime into work lately and its cutting into my drawing time. Nevertheless, Eli's promo will be up by the end of the week.

Okay! It'll just make the wait more fun. ^^ I am sorry for the wait, though. Three people quit at my job and now I'm averaging about 12 hours of overtime a week trying to help cover everything, and that's on top of a regular 40 hours. |

Looking good! I like these promos. I'm so glad! I kind of figured they'd be a good way to get everyone acquainted with the characters and give y'all something to do with the codes while you wait two million years to get the actual content up. Eli's honestly one of my favorite characters, so I was really excited to do his promo! I can't wait for his chapters, either. He's a very good boy that just...deserves love. And a nap. |

Billy's a good girl too, so I'm just excited in general. Billy's showing up in chapter two and Eli shows up in...four, I wanna say? I'm pretty sure it's four. But he also shows up for the three chapters after that as well, so we get to see a lot of the Marshmallow Priest. |
